A/N: I think I'll make a sequel... What should the name of it be? Something simple, like 'Quarter Quell'? Or something inspiring?

Chapter 16:

Month 1:

Nikki started running again, trying to stay in shape and keep her mind off of the 74th Hunger Games, two days after they got back from the Victory Tour. She passed The Hob on her way back home and came across the bakery. Mrs. Mellark was nowhere to be seen. Mr. Mellark and his two older boys were baking up a storm and selling to the few early customers. Nikki decided to stop by and see how they were doing, and she opened the door.

"Ah, Nikki!" Peeta's dad said happily. "You're up early."

"Just doing my early morning run," she replied with a smile. "I just came by to see how you were doing."

"We're doing good." He looked around the store. "Don't tell my wife, but I wanted to give you something," he said conspiringly. He reached under the counter and pulled out a bag, handing it to her with a wink. "I was going to bring this to you during lunch."

Nikki opened the bag and looked inside. It was some of the breads they made fresh that morning. She closed the bag. "Mr. Mellark, I can't just take bread. I feel like I should pay for it."

He laughed joyously. "Dear, you're going to be my daughter-in-law. It's my pleasure to spoil you." He came around the counter and hugged Nikki. "Now, go on and take the bag home. There's no need to pay for a gift."

"Okay," Nikki replied. "Thank you."

"You're welcome. Have a good day." Mr. Mellark and his elder sons waved to Nikki as she left.

Month 2:

Peeta pulled fresh bread out of his oven and placed the loaves on the cooling racks stationed on the kitchen island before Nikki. He smiled at her look of awe.

"Between you and your dad, I'm going to gain twenty pounds." Nikki grinned at her fiance.

"You'll still be beautiful," was Peeta's response.

"I'll be fat."

Peeta broke off a piece of a cooled off banana bread, one of Nikki's favorites, and popped it into her mouth. "No you won't," he said.

Nikki chewed the bread, but something was off. It didn't taste the same. Her eyes widened as she spat out the bread into a napkin and ran to the first floor bathroom.

"Nikki?" Peeta asked, running after her. "Are you okay?" He stared at the closed door as he heard sounds of puking.

After a little bit, Nikki flushed the toilet and answered, "I guess bananas no longer agree with me." She waited for a while before she got up and rinsed her mouth out.

"Are you sure you're okay?" Peeta asked when the water shut off.

Nikki opened the door. "Yeah, I'm fine. It's probably just chemical changes as my body grows up." She shrugged it off.

Month 3:

"It's good that you and Gale are getting married," Nikki said.

"Yeah?" Katniss asked as they walked to Nikki's house. They were holding several bags of items that Nikki's mom had wanted Nikki to pick up for that night.

"Yeah," Nikki said. "I admit that I did still have the fear that Peeta would go back to loving you, and I was jealous, but then he proposed to me and I heard your mom and Gale's chatting with mama. Now I don't have to worry."

Katniss smiled a little smile. "There was nothing for you to be jealous or worried about. I don't have feelings of that kind for Peeta."

Nikki nodded pensively.

"Have you been well?" Katniss asked. "I've noticed that you run half as much as you used to."

"I've been getting tired lately." Nikki frowned as her house came into view. "I think it's all of the bread that Peeta and his dad keep feeding me."

Katniss laughed at the image.

"There you are!" Nikki's mom was on the front steps. "I worried that there was too much for you to carry. I was about to send Addie to help you if I didn't see you in five minutes."

Nikki laughed. "I met up with Katniss on the way back and she offered to help carry some of the bags."

"Thank you, Katniss," her mom said, taking the bags from the Everdeen girl.

"It was nothing. I was glad to help. Bye, Nikki."

"Bye, Katniss."

Month 4:

"Are you even planning the wedding," Addie asked Nikki as they and their mom sat in the living room.

Nikki sighed. "No... I've been worried about the Quarter Quell. Peeta and I haven't even discussed a date."

Their mom shot her a look. "Well, if you don't want the Capital and Snow to think you are just faking 'being in love', then you might want to get married soon."

Nikki frowned.

"We'll stop hounding you about the details for now. But, my daughter, you might want to talk to Peeta and decide quickly."

"Yes, mama."

A/N: Only a few chapters left, I think. Two? Three? IDK. :) See you next time!
