Belle appeared with a confident stride, her arms full with a heaping platter of desserts. She strode up to Regulus purposefully and offered him a piece of Tres Leches.
"Eat!" she commanded a bit sharply. Regulus looked at her strangely.
"Why?" he asked. "Why should I follow your commands?"
She reminded him of Hermione Granger-Weasley, just a softer version. "Because after playing for so long, your fingers will get tired and it will lead to pain in them. You deserve to have comfort."
"I'll eat later," he compromised. When playing for large audiences, Regulus would wait until the performance was over to relieve any pain he was experiencing. Belle shook her head vigorously.
"No, Sir," she replied stubbornly.
"No, Ma'am," he countered. "That is something you could call my brother as a nickname." She rolled her eyes, but smiled because he had made a joke.
"You're still eating," she pressed, forking a bite of the dessert and bringing it to his pale lips. He pursed them together in refusal while he sent her an unimpressed glare. That only made her roll her eyes more openly. The pianist ignored her further and she was forced to stand there, holding it up as she sang her long verse.
We're glad that you're here
"W-well, I'm glad that you're a-all here," Bruno responded, smiling. He was. Mirabel wouldn't run out of people to hang out with and she wasn't alone anymore. There were also some he could relate to as well, like Elsa, Rapunzel, and Raya.
Regulus only shrugged. He was glad to perform the song, but having them be happy that he was there beyond that didn't make sense to him.
For, to us, you're very dear
The avid reader punctuated that point by staring at the suspended bite of Tres Leches pointedly. Regulus still shrugged at her. However, he noted that the hairs on the back of his neck were standing on end as he felt a pair of eyes searing holes into his back. It had started ever since Belle had arrived.
"Please, eat," Bruno requested calmly. "Only if it's to calm my mind." He gave him his best puppy-eyes. Ugh, another thing he had in common with Sirius.
"No."
We need you near
"Only for this," Regulus said. "I'm leaving right after." The soothsayer smirked slightly. They would slowly wear him down to make him take care of himself and let them in as they had done for him over the last half of a decade.
The English turned Russian didn't like the smirk Bruno was wearing. He wasn't ready for all of his walls to tumble down yet, if ever.
And we want to help you brave what you most fear
Regulus had to use all of his will-power to not burst out laughing. They wouldn't be able to help him with his fears. They wouldn't understand them and then they also would be scared.
He was internally dumbfounded when Bruno smiled like that was a real thing. Who lets innocent, young girls help adult men with their fears?
Help you brave what's unclear
Again, he saw that Bruno was smiling. Yet, his smile became empathetic as he noticed the confusion slip onto his face faintly. He was also impressed that Belle was still holding it there.
You're our beloved seer
Beloved? Bruno snorted. Yeah, right. He was loved for himself. Well, starting to, but visions? No way! People still blamed him.
Regulus let out his first real laugh. He only knew of one real seer, but that was even a stretch. She'd only had two REAL prophecies and she doesn't even remember them.
You have our word that we'll steer
You away from the peers
Whom would sneer, jeer, and leer
At what they think is queer
That would be a lot of people. Humans were very judgemental and it wasn't pretty. Bruno was angry on some of the Disney Girls behalf as they, too, have been heavily criticised for the culture that they came from or the things that they have done.
Regulus pointedly fixed his gaze on his hands during this portion of the song. With the upbringing that he had, he was taught to subtly, and sometimes not so subtly, judge people based on their money and rank in life. Even when he was getting better, he still did it.
They might need a kick in the rear
Regulus wished that a spank was the only form of physical punishment he had received while growing up. It would've been a piece of cake in comparison to what he got.
Bruno remembered getting those as a child. They were embarrassing, and thankfully he never had to do it to any of his sobrinos. Just having him yell at them, which wasn't often, was enough most of the time.
No matter what, we'll help you through the ocean of tears
Bruno smiled wetly. "I know that you all will, thank-thank you." There were sixteen girls now. They smiled back at him. Alice crept to the edge of the stage where Bruno met her, and she softly and daintily wiped the few stray tears that had leaked out.
Regulus felt the burning sensation of tears building behind his eyes. His breath hitched in slight panic as he wasn't ready to let them go quite yet. He was Regulus, the brightest star in the Leo Constellation. He represented a lion ironically, and lions would be too proud to cry if they could.
