The Daily Lives of The Owl Familia: P2:
And The Winner is…
Summary: After lunch, Willow and Boscha get back to their game, both determined to finish their rivalry once and for all.
Timeline: three months and two weeks had passed since the Day of Unity.
"Now that lunch is done," Camila cheerfully said, "How about we get back to the game?"
"Game! Game! Game!" the "knocked-down" Coven cheered as they rushed out the door, Camila following them.
Lilith smiled at the scene and then looked at her sister and Raine.
"Would you two like to join us?" The historian asked kindly.
"Nah!" Eda replied, waving dismissively. "Rainestorm and I have…other plans."
"Just keep it civil," Lilith stated, "We do have current children trying to play a game."
Eda gave another dismissive wave as she grabbed Raine by the shirt and gently dragged them to her room. Lilith shook her head and exited the house. The teams were already together and doing prep to get ready for the match.
In a few minutes, the teams were ready and waiting for the call.
"GO!" Lilith screamed, and the two teams took off.
Boscha went left and targeted Luz. She had learned that her flying style was the most unpredictable and that made her the wild card in this game. The athlete grinned as she got close and reached for her flag.
At the last second, Luz made a sharp left. Not only did this cause Boscha to miss the human's flag, but to go out of bounds. The three-eyed witch grumbled as she took her place outside the ring and watched the game unfold.
Luz, with her tongue out, went for Gus. The "knocked-down" illusionist saw his friend coming and got ready. When Luz was close, he dropped. The "knocked-down" Human flow passed her friend, and Gus took her flag.
Boscha cheered at this as she smugly looked at the sour-faced human.
The one-minute timeout passed for Boscha, and she flew right back in.
Now back in the game, Boscha went after Amity. The three-eyed witch grinned when she saw that Amity hadn't noticed her. She rushed in, ready to grab her crush's flag, when someone rushed past her.
Boscha looked to her right and saw Willow rushing to her post, flag in hand. The "knocked-down" potion student growled when she saw one of her flags was gone. She moved away from the action and watched as the others continued their game.
Boscha giggled when Skara managed to get one of Willow's flags, and now it was just the bard, Amity, and Gus.
The bard healer and illusionist bard ganged up on the potion bard abomination witch and tried to take her out before Boscha or Willow came back into the game. Amity suddenly nose-dived, and Skara and Gus nearly ran into each other. They managed to stop before having a nasty meeting, and Amity used that time to snag both of their flags.
Amity was putting the flags on her post when Boscha's time expired, and she returned to the game. She made like a rocket toward her crush, planning on taking her out before Willow reenters the game.
Boscha had forgiven that Willow had one of her flags taken around the same time as Boscha. So the "knocked-down" plant witch reentered the game a few seconds after her rival. As such, Boscha didn't see Willow come in from her side and take her flag.
Boscha scowled as she watched Willow put the flag on their post and one of the best two out of three matches.
(An hour later)
"And after the third match, we have our winning team," Lilith announced and pointed to Boscha's group, "Team Boscha!"
Skara and Gus cheered at their victory as Boscha puffed out her chest. She looked at the other teams with a grin. While Willow's team looked down in the dumps from their loss, they were taking it with good sportsmanship.
Boscha didn't expect Willow to walk up to her and offer her a hand.
"Good game," the plant witch said kindly.
Boscha stared at the hand. She wanted to scoff at the gesture, to retort something befitting her win. Instead, she grabbed the hand and lightly shook it.
"Good game," she replied, smiling genuinely.
After that, the other members of the two teams met and followed their leaders' lead. Camila and Lilith watched this with smiles, and Lilith took a picture of the moment.
(G Corner)
And with that, we now know who's won the Junior Flyer Derby champion. Stay tuned as Boscha explores her place within the Owl Familia and gets to know some humans better.
