Chapter 6: Greetings
"There you go." Velocity smiled as Silk managed to sit up on her own. "You're making so much progress!"
Silk giggled a little. "Thanks to you."
"Not just me, you've been working hard."
"And now you can move around!" Nautica came in with Titilayo standing on her shoulder. "Titi and I made you a wheelchair."
The human smiled. "Just in time for the visit too."
Oh yeah, some more humans were coming, some members of the Security Committee that Elita worked with.
"Can I try the chair?"
"Sure! Your arms might not be strong enough to push yourself, but we'll help until you can move on your own again."
The purple femme disappeared around the corner, coming back with a wheelchair just the right size for the youngling.
With help, Silk sat in the chair.
Her first time out of the medbay.
She hadn't actually seen the rest of the base yet. They wheeled her out into a large open area.
To applause.
The rest of the team stood outside, clapping as she came out.
"Finally! Outside the medbay!" Hound laughed.
Jan hopped up and down from his spot on a raised area where he and the other humans stood. "Yay!"
Feeling her cooling fans turn on, the youngling covered her face, wincing as her arms were not used to fast movement still.
Footsteps approached and Elita knelt down in front of her. "We're happy to see you recovering so well."
"Thank you so much."
Everyone moved off to their own business, though the human younglings were quick to come down to her chair with big smiles. "Want to hang out with us?"
"Sure. Actually, I was wondering if you could tell me some more about humans, especially since I'm meeting more today."
"Eh?" Dante popped up. "You want a masterclass on humans? I think the six of us can give you a good start."
Silk grinned. "I've watched TV, but Velocity says it's not always a good gauge of what humans actually do."
"That's absolutely true."
Velocity rolled her closer to the human's platform as the six people gathered around a computer near her. "So," Ayal asked, "what do you want to know?"
"I'm not really sure. There's a lot I don't know."
"Why don't you start with where you're all from and where the incoming council members are from?" The medic smiled as she headed off to do some work, leaving the group alone.
"Perfect!"
Ayal plopped down at the computer and brought up the image of a beautiful planet, with blues, greens and swirling whites. "So, this is Earth. It's a pretty little ball of rock."
It looked so beautiful! The colors reminded her of Eukaris. "Does your planet have forests and jungles like mine does?"
"Oh yes." He zoomed into a large landmass, and to an outlined area that bordered water on one side. "This is my home country of Israel." He pulled up some photos that showed a city as well as a large lake and some dryer areas.
"Wow!"
So pretty!
"Who wants to go next?"
"Let's do boy, girl, boy, girl."
"Sababah, Titi, Marissa, who wants to go next?"
Titilayo glanced down at Silk. "I'll go next." The map zoomed out to another large landmass and to an outlined area with water to the south and land on all other sides. "This is Nigeria, my home." A few pictures appeared of a large city, hills of green grass and trees, and tall natural rocks that towered over the land around them.
"Amazing!" It looked nothing like the first place, but also so beautiful.
Eukaris had unique places, but there was a similarity in it all. But, how unique were different places on earth?
"Me next." Dante grinned as the map moved to an area near the very bottom of the planet and to a very large outlined area that nearly touched the bottom of the map in one spot. "That's my home country, Argentina." Photos of a city, waterfalls, and a large glacier popped up.
"Wow!"
And this place looked completely different from the other two! Everywhere looked so pretty!
Marissa stepped up next. "We might have to show country and state for me."
"That's what I was thinking."
The map moved to a massive outlined area. "That's the United States, my home country. The area I'm from is Arizona, and that place is mostly desert." Photos of a desert appeared, as well as a city within the desert.
"Whoa!" It was so amazingly unique and beautiful too!
Everything was!
She looked at the two younglings. "What about you two?"
"We live here." Patty smiled. "We moved around a lot before our parents died. Our dad was from a place called Japan, and our mom was from a place called France."
Here?
"Where is here?"
The map moved to an island up north. "We live in Scotland right now."
Silk watched in awe as they went through the countries of the five council members that were coming that day: China, Russia, France, Niger, and Uzbekistan.
This world was amazing!
A little after midday, the groundbridge swirled to life and Elita came to greet the five humans who came through. "Welcome."
"I will never get used to that thing." A man shook his head. They all looked a little wobbly.
Jan leaned over and whispered. "The groundbridge takes some getting used to, and if you don't use it a lot, it feels really weird."
Oh.
The humans noticed the youngling sitting in the massive wheelchair. "Oh," a woman with dark hair smiled, "I see she's doing much better."
"Much better." The Autobot leader nodded. "Silk Spinner, meet council members Sun Cheng, Rafail Ivanov, Edmee Chaput, Abdullahi Abdou, and Parvina Jo'rayeva."
"Nice to meet you all."
"Hey bosses." Ayal leaned on the railing. "We were just giving her a map tour of our and your home countries."
"Well, thank you for tha-"
An alarm sounded from the main computer near Silk. "What is that?"
"Energon mine alert." Ayal said as everyone came toward the computer. "Something went inside that wasn't supposed to. I think I know who that might be."
Elita nodded. "Moonracer, Hound, Dante, Marissa, check it out."
"Yes, ma'am!"
The bots waited as the humans ran toward some pods in the wall. Taking off their jackets, they stepped inside. The doors closed and there was a flash. A moment later, the doors opened and they both stepped out, dressed in some sort of armor.
Marissa's was white with blue decals and one could easily see that it was meant to take some hits. A helmet pulled up over her head as she put on her leather jacket again and picked up a large rectangular device with a strap, most likely a weapon of some kind.
Dante wore a darker suit that seemed more suited to moving quickly and quietly. His helmet came up as he put on a backpack with a rope hanging off it.
"Let's go."
The four of them exited the base through the groundbridge.
"Should we be concerned?" Rafail raised an eyebrow.
"They can handle it." Kup smirked. "A few cons are nothing to those four."
Parvina looked back to Silk, but her eyes glanced over to the computer where Velocity and Ayal activated communications with the four who left. "Well, why don't you tell us a little more about yourself then?"
"Of course."
"Someone was definitely here."
The solid titanium mine doors looked absolutely demolished.
"It's Cons alright." Moonracer activated her visor. "I suggest we split up in teams of two, coms on at all times."
"Agreed."
Hound picked Marissa up, letting her stand on his shoulder as Moon did the same for Dante.
Slipping through the mines, Marissa and Hound soon came to an open area.
"Why couldn't they send Hotlink to do this stupid job? I'm going to get all dirty and scratched up. Ugh!"
A femme with red decals picked up some Energon and put it in a mining cart.
"Flamewar?"
"Probably."
Grabbing the metal object she held, with the press of a button, it shifted into a rifle. "Then let's get acquainted with the glitch who hurt Silk."
"Let's."
Stepping out, they both pointed weapons at Flamewar. "Don't move!"
The Decepticon looked up, smirking. "What took you so long?" She eyed the smaller creature. "Is that one of those humans here? Can't believe you'd work with one of those squish things."
"You'll see why I'm here soon enough."
"I hope so." Flamewar drew her weapons.
In another part of the mine, Moonracer and Dante spotted a bright yellow mech muttering to himself as he meandered through the halls, not really doing anything.
"Weird…"
"No kidding."
Dante pulled out a small rod, activating a plasma blade from it as Moonracer pulled out her gun.
"Freeze!" They stepped out.
Sunstorm turned around, a wild grin on his face. "Moonracer isn't it? Pleasure to meet a fellow follower of Primus! And a human!? Oh! Are you here to meet one chosen by Primus!?"
"Uh… what?"
"Come! Let me show you his glory!" Laughing, he charged the two.
"Elita, they've engaged Sunstorm and Flamewar."
Silk shuddered slightly at those names. "Are they going to be alright?"
"They'll be fine." Star Saber gently smiled. "They can take care of themselves."
The council members paused their talk with the youngling to focus on the mission currently underway.
Flamewar leapt out of the way as Marissa fired at her.
"Think fast!" Firing back at the human, she watched Marissa leap into the air, landing on Hound's hand as he ran forward, firing at her.
The human felt her muscles tighten as the suit amplified her physical abilities. The gun in her hands shifted into a shotgun as the con transformed into a motorcycle and sped around the cavern.
"She's fast."
"So are we." Transforming, Hound made sure Marissa stood on the back of his vehicle mode. "I'll get you in close."
"Got it."
Pulling alongside Flamewar, Hound slammed against her, throwing her off enough for Marissa to leap onto the femme's alt mode, and point the shotgun right at her.
"Oh no you don't!"
As the human fired, the femme transformed, sending Marissa flying back.
But the blast still hit, causing Flamewar to hiss in pain.
Marissa slid across the ground, managing to get to her feet quickly.
Hound grabbed Flamewar, she turned in his grasp, kicking him in the face as she jumped away from the two.
Sunstorm cackled as he fired on the two. "Come and meet the mighty Primus! Come and meet him at the hands of his herald!"
"This man is crazy!"
"Very!" Moonracer fired at Sunstorm, managing to strike him in the wing.
His face shifted to one of strange fury. "HERATICS! You dare strike the herald of Primus!"
Dante slipped around as the seeker focused attention on Moonracer. As he got closer, his suit amplified his speed. Like a shadow, he moved silently until he got around behind the seeker, leaping into the air before driving his blade into the back of Sunstorm's knee.
Sunstorm screeched as the human jumped back, vanishing into the shadows.
"Creatures of evil and darkness! I will purge this world of you!" He limped, the connections in his joints now injured as Dante appeared next to Moonracer.
"I REALLY don't like this guy!"
"PERISH!" Sunstorm's weapons turned toward the roof of the cavern.
"Oh no." Grabbing the human, Moonracer transformed, speeding away as the seeker fired on the roof, bringing it down behind them.
"You good, M?"
"I'm fine. You?"
"Fine."
The Decepticon laughed, holding her wound from Marissa. "Well, this has been a lovely little recon. And I guess humans aren't as pathetic as I thought." She looked at Marissa. "I look forward to skinning you alive myself."
"You can try."
Flamewar laughed as she backed up, a groundbridge opening and swallowing her up.
"Recon huh? Guess hitting the mine was just to draw us out." Hound huffed.
"I guess."
Moonracer stopped as the rubble final finished falling. "Think he's offline?"
"Doubt it. Probably bridged out." Dante leaned back in the seat. "He concerns me."
"Why?"
"Anyone that radical cannot be reasoned with and will feel little to no remorse for their actions." He took off his helmet. "We need to be careful around him."
"Absolutely."
As the group returned to base, everyone listened as they relayed their story.
"So, this was recon."
"They probably wanted to see if we had more forces than we showed before, and we kind of did." Hound gestured to the humans.
Abdullahi looked at the other council members. "Should we be concerned about them knowing humans are involved?"
"Doubt it." Ayal came down from his spot on the balcony. "We only display Autobot insignias for a reason. Not to mention, how things are in every database, we're listed as discharged from the militaries we came from and are just workers at our day jobs. They'd have to dig really deep to find anything connecting us to our bosses at INTERPOL or you guys. Which, knowing Cons, they're not too keen on doing anything too much with us. We're just insects after all."
As everyone continued to talk, Silk's head began to throb.
Her optics flashed white.
An image filling her mind:
Screams.
Humans in uniforms being blown to pieces.
Buildings in flames.
And Slipstream standing over it, grinning.
An oracle.
An oracle.
The patch…
The oracles it showed…
Everyone jumped as Silk began screaming, clutching her head, her optics glowing a bright white.
"Silk!"
The humans backed up as she fell out of the wheelchair, convulsing.
"Silk! Can you hear us!? Silk!"
