Glad to be back uploading again. Just a little moment that may earn its way into a larger story in the future

Luke parked the car and turned to smile at Lorelai, and they both turned to look at the sleeping newborn in the back. Lorelai got out of the car first and went to the back, Lorelai went to the boot and grabbed the bags, while Luke fought with the car seat.

By the time Lorelai had reached the front door, Luke had caught up with them. "Still sleeping like a trooper." He says and Lorelai smiles at him as she pushes the front door open. As she enters the living room, Jess and Rory both stand up from the sofa, where they are both sitting reading. "You're home," Rory says quickly and goes over to hug her mother tightly then the group watches Luke as he puts the baby carrier on the coffee table and everyone crowds around to stare at the sleeping bundle.

"How's he doing?" Jess asks eyeing the baby carefully. "He sleeps like a trooper and doesn't make too much noise." Luke admits, "Give him time, that's Gilmore genes inside that boy, we overpower everything." Lorelai says with a smile as she drops to sit next to Luke who loops his arm around her waist.

"He'll be screaming the house down in no time," Rory said with a promise and shared a smile with her mother who wrapped an arm around her and kissed her head. "You did, plenty of times." She replied and they turned to stare at the baby once more. No one needed to say anything, there was nothing to say. The baby was home and they were all excited.

Their peace was broken by a gentle knock on the door and Rory smiled at her mother and got up to answer it, coming back a couple of seconds later, with Lane trailing behind her. "Oh, look at the baby," Lane whispered crouching down to stare at the bundle. Lane didn't come in contact with a lot of babies, so she was excited about the newest Gilmore baby.

"Have you guys given him a name yet?" She asked and Luke and Lorelai looked at each other. They'd had many discussions, but nothing they could agree on, not quite yet. "We've got a shortlist, but haven't worked it out, not just yet," Lorelai admits and the group falls silent. Another knock on the door a couple of minutes later interrupts the group and Luke gets to his feet.

"Oh, my god, you guys are home." They hear Sookie almost cry out and turn to see the woman in question come into the room, Luke behind her, bags and boxes in his arms. "Sookie." He says and she turns to notice him, having dumped all her bags on him as soon as he'd answered. "I made you guys some food. Newborn baby, you guys will be busy, so there's enough for everyone for breakfast lunch, and dinner for the next week." Sookie says and then rushes forward to the baby, who is still blissfully ignorant of the world and is sleeping soundly.

"Jess come and help me put all this away?" Luke asks and Jess gets up and helps Luke cart all the food out to the kitchen. "Are you going back to work?" Jess asks and Luke turns to him as they empty all the food containers onto the table, before they start putting it all away. "Not right now. I'll stay home maybe a week or two, but Cesar has my number if he needs me, I can be at the diner within minutes if I'm needed desperately." Luke explains as they start packing the food into the fridge.

"Why are you looking to get some work?" Luke says with a grin and Jess shrugs. "Yeah." He admits and leans back on the counter. "I mean, I can't cook like you, but to help Cesar and Lane, I can work the morning shifts, before class and a couple of hours in the afternoon, or the evening," Jess says and Luke stops his packing and leans on the fridge door to look at his nephew. "You'll keep up with your studies though, I don't want you working if it's going to take time away?" Luke says and Jess waves his hand as he pushes off the counter. "It's no trouble to me. I'll still have plenty of time to finish all my studies, promise." Jess says and helps Luke finish packing all the food away.

"Anyway, you've got to keep my baby brother fed, I might as well keep the family business going," Jess says and leaves the room heading back into the living room where the unnamed baby Gilmore has woken, silently and is currently being fawned over by Lane and Sookie. Jess goes to sit next to Rory and they put their heads together and start whispering. Luke hooks an arm around Lorelai and she smiles up at him and he leans down and captures her lips softly.

"I love you." She whispers to him, resting her head against his chest as they watch their family before them. "I love you too, and this ridiculous family of ours." He replies kissing the top of her head and pulling her closer. The room is filled with their family and they were sure to have some bumps in the road
