As I promised, here is the final chapter.
This story was beautiful and easy to write.
I will always love Choso as a big bro and I'm happy to give these characters a happy ending, at least here.
I couldn't post anything about Kuroko on Basket today, so wait a little longer.
Thank you for reading.

CHAPTER FOUR
Final Act
The kids spent more time outside as the school play approached. Apparently I had received a message from the school about this on my cell phone, but it ended up getting lost among Yuji's many texts, he sent a lot of memes.
The families had to spend extra on the clothes for the play, but thanks to the fact that Megumi was my newest tenant we now had extra income and I didn't need to work overtime anymore.
- Don't look until we're in position! - I heard Yuji say. From the echo of his voice I think he was still in the room, but I could tell that Megumi was nearby.
They finally wanted to show me the clothes chosen for the play, I didn't know much about who would play who as Yuji asked for it to be a secret, so I respected that, I was already excited enough to be included in something so important as my baby brother first real school play ever.
- If I keep my eyes closed any longer I'll end up falling asleep.
- Don't be so annoying - Yuji replied, his voice was finally closer.
- That's it? Can I look?
I didn't wait any longer, as I could barely contain my excitement, I really wanted to test a new camera that I had bought especially for the play. I know most parents would use a phone, but true video quality required a special camera and I had to admit that I didn't have as many quality photos of Yuji as I would have liked.
Yuji was dressed in a dinosaur costume. His body was reddish, with pink streaks that matched his hair. His real head was on the animal's chest while the dinosaur's inflatable head was higher.
- He looks ridiculous, I know - Megumi said, his voice devoid to emotion as always.
I was surprised when I looked at him, unlike Yuji, Megumi was dressed in classic 18th century European clothes, in black and gray tones, as if he were a lost prince.
- It's the story of a European prince who dies in war and is reincarnated in a world where intelligent dinosaurs exist... - Yuji began to explain.
- There's no way this could happen - Megumi sighed.
- …And on his journey between death and a new life he ends up learning the true value of friendship while facing the terrors of a world full of anomalies.
- I still don't know how you convinced the committee to do this - Megumi rolled his eyes.
- I'm very persuasive - Yuji looked at me - so what do you think?
I compared their costume style again.
- You are the prince who died - I pointed to Megumi, then to Yuji - and you are a dinosaur.
They both nodded.
- So you two will have an epic friendship that will cross borders and defy discrimination?
- Yes! - Yuji smiled.
I felt my eyes burn, but I would be strong.
- Oh my God, I loved it.
- There's no way you liked that! - Megumi replied, he wasn't a very positive person for his age.
- Look at your dinosaur feet! - I pointed to the bottom of Yuji's costume, his inflatable feet were cute and adorable.
Yuji tried to jump in the costume, which wasn't a good idea, but Megumi and I managed to lift him quickly thanks to the dinosaur's tail.
- Wait - I said after testing my camera twenty times - something is missing.
- Something missing in a world where princes are reincarnated with dinosaur friends?
- Exactly, Megumi - I pointed to his dark and boring clothes – you are the problem.
- There's no way I'm the problem!
- Stop saying that - I said - look at Yuji, look at how smiling and happy he is like a dinosaur. I can see that energy in the video and photos, but you... Something is missing.
- I think he's right - Yuji came to my side and we both started to stare at Megumi, who crossed his arms and looked more grumpy than before, but I had already learned that this was his normal face - you're wearing a lot of black.
- Maybe it needs more colors, or extravagance, it's an Isekai, isn't it?
- How do you know these things? - Megumi asked.
- Yes it is! - Yuji replied - I also helped write the script.
- You are so talented, Yuji, my baby brother!
After we helped Yuji take off his costume I ended up making some changes to Megumi's outfit. I thought he would be more resistant to it, but apparently it was his weird white-haired father who had his costume custom-made, so he was excited when he saw me cutting out some parts and sewing some cheap, colorful fabric between the pieces.
- My dad never does that - Megumi said, he offered to hold the needle pad for me.
- Not everyone knows how to use a needle - I said - everyone has their own talent.
- But you know how to do a lot for yourself, and for Yuji.
Megumi stopped talking, and I quickly understood that this was one of those moments when children wanted to tell us something, but didn't know how.
- I wasn't always like this, there were people who did these things for me before, you know? But when only Yuji and I were left, I had to become responsible for everything.
I paused so he could try to understand what I was saying.
- Your dad may not be the best in the world, which I don't find difficult to believe - Megumi smiled and I think he and I thought alike about the guy with white hair - but he does the best he can, I'm sure.
- Your best is being a big brother to Yuji - Megumi told me after I finished making changes to his costume.
And I think he was right.

I would never get used to Yuji's new school, the marble columns, the dark tones of wood, everything gave off an oppressive energy, but it was here that Yuji would meet people who could help him in the future.
The school theater was too large for its purpose and there was already a long queue of parents when I arrived. People seemed rich and important and it didn't take long for me to feel underdressed.
"Damn," I thought, "I wish I was in a front seat."
It was almost impossible to come early because I had to help Nanami make some deliveries to the bakery. His wife helped me a lot and he was a good guy, so I didn't like saying no to him.
- Choso! We're here!
I heard a soft voice calling me and I quickly identified Suguru in the crowd. He was dressed in a black overcoat, waving at me.
- I figured you wanted to be right at the front, so we arrived early to choose a good spot - Suguru said as soon as I sat down next to him - I heard you had to help Nanami today.
- Yes, Chihiro hurt her hand and he didn't want to leave her alone in the bakery today.
- You're a good friend, Choso.
- You're a good friend, Choso! - I thought I heard wrong, but there was no way that second voice belonged to Suguru. This new tone was distorted and mocking, as if it was making fun of our conversation.
That's when I noticed that Gojo Satoru was sitting next to Suguru, eagerly scrolling through his shiny phone like a poltergeist in the middle of the room.
- Hello, Gojo - I said, casually, but just to be polite.
"If Yuji could see me now he would be proud", I thought while Suguru tried to get his husband to let go of his cell phone.
Honestly, I still didn't understand how Suguru could be with someone like him, so Yuji's words about my feelings came back to my head and I tried to think about something else.
- Look - Suguru showed me his cell phone screen before the play started. It was a photo of Nanako and Mimiko smiling at the camera. They wore winter clothes and seemed to be playing in the snow.
- They look happy - I said.
Suguru nodded, although he seemed proud and happy that his daughters were safe, at the same time he must have felt sad that they were living far away from him.
- Would you ever let Yuji study abroad?
- Not even over my dead body.
Suguru laughed, he always laughed at my jokes, even when I was serious.
I showed him the leaflet with the play guide and named Yuji among the scriptwriters.
- Look how creative and innocent he is, people will try to take that away from him.
- That's why you're here - Suguru said and I think I saw Gojo Satoru look at me for a moment with a little empathy - to protect him.
- Yes - I replied, as I took the camera out of my bag - but I also need to film this.

It was two and a half hours of pure entertainment. I didn't know Yuji was such a good writer, but at the end I think I cried a little because Suguru handed me some tissues. But how can you not cry at the part where the dinosaur Yuji almost dies to save his friend the prince from the clutches of a dictatorial and bloodthirsty t-rex?
That was pure poetry.
The story also had many funny scenes and I heard Gojo Satoru laughing a lot in some parts. He looked at Megumi with a smile when he was on stage.
Everyone received a standing ovation at the end, but I applauded Yuji more than anyone else. He was so proud. He never wanted to participate in anything in middle school so seeing him involved in something in high school was exciting.
When I met Yuji backstage he had received a bouquet of flowers from a tall girl with short brown hair who quickly walked away with a red face when she saw me coming.
- Who is she? - I whispered the question to Yuji.
- Yuko Ozawa - Yuji replied, he held the bouquet close to his chest - we studied together in elementary school and ended up meeting again here.
- She seems to like you, you should buy her something nice.
- You should get a girlfriend or boyfriend before trying to give me advices.
I sighed, he wouldn't let that subject drop, but I soon stopped the discussion and hugged Yuji tightly before his teenage self pushed me away in embarrassment.
- I'm so proud - I said. I know there were some families that didn't say it out loud, but I didn't want to be that kind of parent.
- I know, I saw you crying.
- I didn't cry.
- Your eyes are still red.
- It's just an allergy to fluorescent lamps - I replied.
I finally let him go, but I didn't want to, I wasn't ready to let Yuji walk alone.
- There you are! - Suguru found us quickly, Megumi and Gojo were right behind - We wanted a photo of Megumi and Yuji together.
- I want a photo with my big bro first, is that ok? - Yuji said.
- Oh no, he's going to cry again... - Gojo complained.
My eyes burned, but I held firm as Suguru took our photo, then Megumi and Yuji lined up to take theirs. I would make a special photo album with all of them.

The bakery where Chihiro worked was very centralized and close to my work, so Nanami ended up having lunch here almost every day, or, as he used to say, "when he missed her".
While I worked to give Yuji a good future, Nanami wanted to help his wife open her own business. In the meantime, we would be stuck with not-so-good jobs.
- Uncle Nanami, I'm hungry! - Yuji said as soon as he entered the bakery.
They should have been closed already, but Chihiro said they could stay open a little longer for us.
- For God's sake, have manners - I said.
- It's okay - Nanami said. He was wearing an apron and his shirt sleeves were rolled up to his forearms - How was the play?
- Yuji is a superstar, I think he has a future as a screenwriter.
- Same? - Chihiro came out of the kitchen with a tray of fresh sandwiches. The aroma was delicious, as was the appearance. Nanami helped her put together the dishes and she even made homemade chips for Yuji.
- This is so good! - Yuji said after the first bite.
- Really? Did you like it? - I asked, then I looked at Chihiro - Send me the recipe later.
- Can you make a meal without changing recipes at least once? - Nanami said, he looked tired, but he was smiling when he looked at his wife.
- You'll understand when you have children - I said, also with a mouth full of bread and pieces of smoked meat.
We still had a long way to go home, but Megumi would spend the night with his parents and I hoped they would reconcile, even if it meant no more rent money.
I patted Yuji's head while he ate.
We were together.
I was happy.
