Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of Scoped and Scouted. Enjoy the 2000-word chapter. I do not own Halo and such, 343, and a few others do.
Nina wasted the last of her bullets killing a brute warrior, their corpse crashing off the platform. Something within her had told her that the Banished were like prey and she was the hunter.
Well, she felt like one at least considering the fact she was easily killing them… Nina had lost count entirely now of how it had been handled.
Nina was eager to think of it all now and for a good reason at the time as she looked downwards at the time being… Something about it all had been too interesting for now.
Dovan looked at her, taking a moment between bursts to make sure that she was ok. He had become her partner and she had become him now.
Nina looked around at the time being, the idea of it all too much was going to become tiresome with it all now.
Nina hummed, curious as to how it would be with it all now… Something that had to be surpassed now at the time being as he relaxed.
Nina cursed and dodged return fire from a Jackal sniper, the jackal hummed before attempting to shoot at her as she leaped from the perch.
"I am beginning to think Spartan Dovan was right about reinforcements…. I am reading several more Banished IFFs coming." Nina heard before she looked to the side.
Something about it had made her amused now at the time being… She was tired, both were exhausted at the time being.
"We have a lot more soldiers coming then… A lot more of them to take out… We should have brought reinforcements." Nina heard from Dovan as his shields slowly recharged.
"The marines would have trouble keeping up with us… Plus? We are the only known UNSC forces in this area. The more soldiers we lose? The less of a chance we have at holding this area." Tomas stated before Dovan hummed.
Dovan sighed, thinking to himself as he snorted then looked at Nina as more gunfire flew their way. He had lost count of how much ammo he had spent; on the number of soldiers present, on how much they had killed in combat.
Granted? It was not as if he had a choice but to fight them, the army of Banished was not dwindling fast but it was clear they were being cleared out now, and for good reason.
Nina seemed to be thinking of it all before she looked downwards at the ground. Something within her had been too interested in it all before she relaxed.
The sound of gunfire drew Nina back into the fight, towards the sound of combat where the others were… It was clear to them both now… Something about them all was curious as to it all.
Something within them all had been harder and harder to think of back and forth… Something about it all was harder and harder to think about now.
She fired once more, her DMR spatting out bullets from the sides of the weapon. She was curious, very curious…. The Banished fought with a zeal the Covenant could not manage to replicate.
Nina looked to the side, Vettel finished off another elite mercenary with a shot from his bulldog before he discarded the empty shotgun and fired his mauler as he tore it from his leg.
Dovan tossed the empty pulse rifle off the side and grabbed a stalker rifle from one of the dead jackals. He put a bead on a jackal who had drained his shields only for a headshot from Chief to rob him of the kill.
He cursed, another shot draining his shields… There were at least a dozen dead bodies on the platform… And yet another 3 dozen had attacked their position, all chanting war cries and roaring with bloodlust.
Dovan cursed as the gun battle continued. They attacked, they struck with the fury of an army that had been waiting for death and battle in equal measure.
Yet? They had Master Chief… They had a Spartan who knew how to fight and who was trained on the cusp of war itself.
Dovan felt more gunfire come off his armor, his shields whining as he ducked back into cover. The soldiers attacking them wanted blood… But he? He wanted to fight, he wanted to brawl with them… It was only then when he crushed their entire strike force that they would have to deal with it.
Dovan felt a weight next to him and brought up his weapon to attack them.
"You good?" Nina asked to which she got a nod.
"Running out of ammo, but yes." Nina heard as she paused to try and figure it out.
Both Spartans looked at the rest of the fleet in front of them… Something about it all had made them impressed, surprised more and more at the numbers they were clashing with.
They knew they were outnumbered and outgunned, the numbers they were dealing with could and SHOULD have crushed them.
But they were Spartans, they were soldiers, they were warriors at the time, warriors which held no shape or form towards the next problem at the time being.
He had no idea as to how it would need to be handled… Nothing about this chaos was harder and harder now to understand… Something within him begged to be left alone, it begged for him to unleash the fury, the rage in which for him to be tossed aside.
Nina hummed to herself before she looked to the side as she looked to the side… Nina was eager to get to work and so was he.
Both looked over the rest of the group. Nina looked to the side, something that had to break… That would break.
Nina and Dovan waved their weapons at the groups of Banished, he fired again and again and emptied the weapon, rolling, grabbing a pulse rifle, and emptying it into a brute warrior before breaking it across the face of a jackal freebooter.
He cursed, angry at the fact he was running out of weapons… He found himself being backed into a corner, Nina emptying another stalker rifle at the others.
She and he were interested in something that had to be done at the time being… She and he were too interested in fighting, the rest of the soldiers here were pushing… Of that he was certain.
She and he were different in something like this… They had a lot more soldiers to kill.
Nina hummed to herself as she and he continued to fire at the Banished, gunfire filled the room as they advanced into the waves of plasma and spikes that flew upon them like droplets of rain. Perhaps it was their eagerness to continue fighting but it was clear beyond all problems.
She and he had to deal with it for now, something about it all had been harder and harder to think of it all before he looked downwards at the ground.
Something about it all had been easier and easier to tease… To put to script and to print.
There was more gunfire as Vettel and Tomas fired at them with no sign of chief. Perhaps he was already dealing with the enemy as much as possible.
She did not put it past Master Chief to be smashing through the Banished like a freight train. Why? Because Master Chief was the single best Spartan in the group, the single best warrior in the ring even.
If the Banished had no idea how dangerous he was? They were learning quickly that Master Chief was not a soldier to be trifled with.
Now? Now it had been harder and harder to deal with. Nina turned to Dovan as he cursed and fired another mangler, using up every weapon from the dead he could grab.
Nina hummed, thinking for a moment at their strategy. Something about it all had disturbed her for now as she relaxed… She had been tired with every single moment; they had fought far worse.
They had been ready, far too ready to let this come to a head… Now? Now he had other issues within it all… Something within it all had broken.
They had fought and would fight… All of them were soldiers now, they behaved and acted like them in every single way that he had to deal with it for now.
They had to go and it was going to hurt a LOT more in time with it all.
She and the others all regrouped behind a group of arches that stretched higher and higher into the sky.
Something now was better off beaten than done. She looked over towards him, towards everyone… All of it? All the ideas were odder and odder.
Explosions over their heads reminded them the Banished had concentrated their fire on them. Dovan looked over towards Nina as more and more gunfire seemed to think of the next explosion brushed over their shields.
The fire within him built up more and more… Each motion within he had been thrown towards another as he glanced up.
Chief looked at them, they stared back like children. Why? Because they knew that he had a better plan than them… He knew that every single little motion he had made was something that brought them closer and closer to victory.
The Spartans who were easily being formed into their little squad looked at him. They wanted to win, they wanted some sort of victory and the way they looked at him was clear, armor covering their entire bodies or not.
They believed in Master Chief. They looked over at him with hope, with interest clear in their faces.
"Mouse, how many are we dealing with?" Nina asked as she emptied the rest of her DMR in their direction before emptying the storm rifle as well, the sound of a half dozen soldiers coming with it.
Nina hummed as Dovan looked over. Tomas took stock of what was happening, their weapons… And gear.
"We need to split up their sides or else we are not going to last more than a few minutes… The longer we split them up? The easier they are to pick off… The problem is we do not have enough firepower to do that properly." Tomas stated to which the others hummed.
"Then we backpedal… Make them think we're retreating… Lure them into an attack." Nina heard before she sighed.
There was a moment of exhaustion now, an idea within him had been harder and harder to think about.
The rest of them were too tired, too exhausted now… An idea within them all had been awakened now and for good.
They had to fight, they would fight, and yet? Nina could see their resolve weakening just slightly as they thought of the idea… Every single little part of their brains labored on that idea now.
Still? Retreating also meant giving up this position. Granted? It was 5 people holding it… But they would not have an idea as to how it would be useful to stay and die rather than regroup.
They had to think, they had to fight and they would not be able to now at the time when push came to shove.
Something about it all was going to be amusing for now. It had to end, it would end now, and for a good reason. Something about it all was funnier and funnier within each little idea now and for good reason.
Chief waded towards them… And it was then and only then and there that they were able to relax… Now knowing that if they did not fight? They would be killed… They would be destroyed for now.
Something about this all was tossing them towards a wall… They had been thrown off now and had relaxed now… The enemy would collapse.
And they would be the thing to break the force.
