Sakura's words cut through the heavy silence, each one a dagger in Kakashi's heart. He watched as she removed her rings and threw them at him, her eyes filled with a mixture of anger, pain, and betrayal. The door slammed shut, and he was left standing in the hallway, the weight of his actions pressing down on him.
Kakashi knew he had made an unforgivable mistake, and the consequences of his choices were now painfully clear. He had shattered the trust and love that had once bound them together. With a heavy heart, he leaned against the closed door, a sense of helplessness washing over him.
"Sakura, please. Talk to me. I can't lose you." Kakashi called out to her. He didn't know that she heard him. When he apologized to her, he didn't know that she's awake. He just wanted to forget that time of his life. He wants to make it up to her, he never wanted to let her know. He wanted to spare her the pain, but its a moot point now. Now what he wants is to get her back.
"Sakura, please." Kakashi called out to her. He heard the lock disengage and he opened the door. It's Sakura's tear-stained face that he saw when he opened the door. "Sakura - " he tried to hold her but she dodges his hands.
"Explain, Kakashi." She said in a hoarse voice. "Explain to me why you have to do that to me? I trusted you!"
Kakashi's voice wavered as he saw Sakura's tear-stained face and her eyes filled with a mixture of pain and anger. He moved closer to her, wanting to hold her and explain, but she dodged his touch. Her hoarse voice cut through the tension, demanding an explanation for his actions.
He swallowed hard, trying to find the right words, the truth, to offer Sakura. "Sakura, I can't justify what I've done. I messed up, and I know that. There's no excuse for my actions. I never meant to hurt you; I never wanted to betray your trust. It was a moment of weakness, and it's something I deeply regret."
Sakura's eyes bore into him, her gaze unwavering as she searched for honesty in his words. "A moment of weakness? Is that all it was, Kakashi? Or is there more to this? I deserve to know the whole truth."
Kakashi sighed, his shoulders slumping under the weight of his own guilt. "I can't blame you for wanting to know the truth. It's not just a moment of weakness. There's more to this, and I owe it to you to explain everything."
He moved to sit on the edge of the bed, gesturing for Sakura to join him. "Sakura, it started as a mission. I was working undercover, trying to gather information on a dangerous group. I didn't want to involve you because it was risky, and I thought I could handle it on my own. But as time went on, I got in deeper than I anticipated. She - she was there. She understood how I felt. Then it just happened."
"And I can't understand? Is that what are trying to say?" Sakura asked. "I am a shinobi, Kakashi. I am not dumb. Who is she?"
"Sakura - "
"WHO IS SHE?"
"Takahashi Akkari." Kakashi murmured.
"ANBU." Sakura said, recognizing the name. "She's an ANBU operative. You really cannot forget that time of your life, huh?" Sakura asked him. "If you wanted to be an ANBU agent again, then do so. You don't need to fuck the ANBU females just so you can feel that you never left."
Kakashi winced at Sakura's vulgar words, her anger and pain palpable in the room. He had expected her reaction to be harsh but hearing the truth about the woman involved seemed to intensify her emotions.
"Sakura, I know there's no justification for what happened," Kakashi began, his voice laden with regret. "It was never about wanting to be an ANBU again or feeling like I never left. It was a series of poor decisions that I deeply regret. Akkari was just someone who happened to be there, and we both made the wrong choice."
Sakura's eyes blazed with anger as she replied, "Wrong choice? Kakashi, you betrayed me, our marriage, and our trust. I can't believe you let this happen. What do you expect me to do now? Just forgive and forget?"
Kakashi shook his head, understanding the gravity of his actions. "No, Sakura. I don't expect you to forgive and forget. I know that what I did was unforgivable. I'm here to face the consequences and try to make amends. I'll do whatever it takes to rebuild your trust, even if it means that it's an impossible task."
Sakura's anger began to give way to sorrow, her voice trembling as she spoke. "Kakashi, I love you, but you've hurt me more than I can express. I don't know if I can ever trust you again."
"Sakura, please. Just give me a chance."
But Sakura is no longer listening to him. She just lay down on her side of the bed and made sure that Kakashi will not have a chance touch her.
As Kakashi pleaded with Sakura and expressed his desire to make amends, she remained resolute in her pain and disappointment. Ignoring his words, she turned away from him, creating a clear divide between them by pulling the blankets up to her head. It was as if she wanted to physically block him out, to shield herself from the pain he had caused.
Kakashi sat there, feeling the chasm that had grown between them, a deep sense of despair settling in his heart. He knew that rebuilding Sakura's trust would be an arduous journey, and her current response made it evident that she needed time and space to process the betrayal.
In the silence of the room, Kakashi wished he could turn back time, to erase the mistakes he had made, but he knew it was impossible.
