Ryder, Chase, and Rubble were taking a look at the lookout that was currently under construction. "How does it look?" Chase asked.

"They're getting all of the old pests, debris, and other junk in there out of the building," Rubble explained. "It shouldn't take too long for them to fix up. Mayor Goodway hired the best crew for the job."

"Good to hear," Ryder commented. "Hopefully the rescue and living quarters will be completed soon. No offense Rubble, it's a little crowded at home."

"Yeah, and I thought having more company would be a good thing," Chase admitted, "But it's a little overwhelming."

"Don't worry," Ryder proclaimed, "As soon as the lookout is complete, we'll have our spots. Such as your pup house."

"But I already have one."

"These have a special trick. Come on, let's get home and see how the others are doing." Ryder and the pups walked away from the building under construction back to the house.

There, Marshall and the other pups were arguing. "Come on, how come you get to be on the bed?" Skye questioned.

"I was here for longer," Marshall noted, "Plus, I don't put up a fight when it's bath time." They looked towards Rocky, who was quick to defend himself.

"Hey, I've been doing just fine without a bath," Rocky stated.

"You were scratching for flees every five minutes," Skye stated.

"Well… What about Zuma? He's usually drenched in seawater."

"But I actually took my bath," Zuma proclaimed. The pups continued their argument amongst each other until a loud knock on the door grabbed their attention, seeing Sam standing in the doorway.

"If you pups are going to make a team, you need to learn to get along," she stated. "Besides, the bed will be the least of your worries. Food and baths are something we're going to have to budget for. Plus, we're still working out the budget for the lookout and your pup houses."

"How could pup houses be that expensive," Rocky asked. "I thought they would just be made of wood and nails, I would've even helped find some old parts if needed."

"That's the thing, Ryder was trying to use mechanical parts. I think it had something to do with those shiftable cars that Kendra was talking about."

"Oh yeah, like that prototype," Marshall commented. "Will be cool to be driving."

"Yeah, I can't wait to have my own wide," Zuma said. The pups then heard a door open, signally that Ryder must've gotten home. They ran downstairs with Marshall taking a bit of a tumble before getting back up to greet their leader.

"You pups certainly seem excited," Ryder commented.

"Are we getting our new vehicles yet?" Skye asked, jumping up and down.

"Not yet, I've only got the sketches." Ryder pulled out his sketch pad and showed the pups an opened-top police car, with Chase sitting in the driver's seat.

The pups gasped as they loved the design, Chase felt proud he was the one to drive it. This wouldn't be the only design that Ryder had. He also showed off some sketches of a fire truck and a helicopter. Judging by the pups in the seats, these would be made for Marshall and Skye respectively.

"Wow! I'm really going to be flying!" Skye yipped.

"I can't believe I'm getting my own truck," Marshall admitted.

"What vehicles will we get Ryder?" Rubble asked.

"I'm still working on that, pups," Ryder admitted. He took a look at some sketches showing some construction vehicles and boats, figuring out what would be the most functional for them.

"How about the pup packs?" Rocky asked. "When are we getting those?"

"I plan on heading over to the University to meet up with Kendra to get them fully prepared for you. I've got the plans for them prepared so we'll give you time to practice with those before we get to the vehicles."

"Isn't she there now?"

"She said she'd be there tomorrow. It still gives me more time to fully plan out your gear." Ryder got back to sketching and walked off as Rubble explained how the lookout was doing.

"I've been thinking about what can be added for us," Rubble said, "Like a treat dispenser or a giant wall-mounted TV to watch any show we'd like. Maybe we can even throw in a slide."

"That sounds awesome!" Zuma proclaimed.

"But where would the slide fit in?" Sam asked. Rubble looked at the woman in confusion.

"What do you mean?"

"If the slide is in the lookout, will it be in the playroom? It won't be a fun slide if it's too small." Rubble and the pups thought about this for a moment before seeing what she meant.

"Yeah, sorry, Rubble," Chase said, "I doubt the slide's going to work." The bulldog sighed, knowing that this was true.

"I'm still up for the dispenser and TV," Rocky noted.

"Yep, wonder what else can be in the lookout," Marshall said.

"I think you should focus on something on training," Sam stated.

"We know," Chase said, "Is the course ready?"

"Ready when you are!" Ryder called from a different room. The pups followed the sound of his voice and soon found him outside with his father Owen. They had set up an obstacle course which included hurdles, tunnels, and even some platforming.

"Wow, what's this for?" Marshall asked.

"Since we're going to be Adventure City's new rescue team, I thought it would be best to get you all into shape," Ryder explained. "We had this course set up to help give you something to while you wait for your gear. You just have to get through this course as fast as you can."

"Sounds and looks pwetty fun," Zuma commented.

Owen pulled out his stopwatch as he saw Chase step up to where the starting line was at. "You ready to test it out?" he asked.

"Ready when you are," Chase said. He got into a stance looking like he was about to pounce.

The moment Owen said, "Go!" and started the watch, the police pup took off into the course. Over the hurdles, through the tunnels, across the platforms, all the way around the course, and back at the start. After his run, Owen checked his time. "One minute and forty-eight seconds. Not bad."

Chase felt happy about how fast he got through the course. The other pups wanted to give it a try to see how fast they could get through it. They went one by one through it with each pup having a different time, but it seemed none of them could beat Chase's time.

Eventually, it was Marshall's turn. The dalmatian was ready to go, but after the timer started he showed he had some bad luck. He tripped over the hurdles, tumbled in the tunnel, and when it came to the platforms, he kept missing his jumps meaning he had to restart from the shortest platform.

By the time he managed to get to the finish line, his time wasn't all that impressive. "Four minutes, seventeen seconds," Owen read.

"Aw, man," Marshall sighed.

"Don't feel too bad," Ryder said, "It's your first time. This course was made to help make you faster."

"You can run around this course all you want," Owen said, "We're going to see if we can get that ATV fixed up." The father and son walked away, leaving the pups to play around on their new obstacle course.

They ended up trying to race each other to see if they could beat their times. When Marshall tried again, he managed to get over one hurdle, only to trip over the others, nearly making Skye trip up. However the cockapoo saved herself as she flipped over him.

In the tunnels, he tried going slower so he could keep his footing, but ended up causing a little traffic jam with Rubble and Zuma getting stuck behind him. "Come on, we're in a rush!" Rubble cried. Marshall hurried, tripped after exiting the tunnel with the other pups rushing past him.

Then there came the platforms. Marshall tried jumping on them one at a time, but it was a similar problem with the tunnel. "Marshall, move!" Rocky cried.

Surprised from the yelling, Marshall missed his jump with his forepaws trying to drag him up to recover. Rocky had already started making his jump when he saw what was going to happen. Just when the mixed breed made his jump, Marshall made him trip and accidentally dragged him onto the ground.

The others stopped to check on them. Both pups were fine, Rocky was more annoyed than hurt. Marshall just felt embarrassed. He got up and saw there was still more to the obstacle course to complete. "I think I'm going to take a break," the Dalmatian proclaimed.

The rest of the pups continued running laps as an upset Marshall walked inside of the house. Sam was doing some vacuuming as the pup walked into the living room. "Why the long face?" she asked.

"I'm getting in the way of everyone's training," he sighed. "I keep tripping over everything."

Sam kneeled down to pet the upset Dalmatian's head. "It isn't all about the physical abilities of a rescuer. You've got to think about how to rescue them too." Marshall smiled as he noticed a couple of books stacked beside the couch.

"What are these for?" the pup asked.

"Mayor Goodway had a few of these training books sent over to help prepare you pups for your new jobs." Sam handed him one of the books for firefighting. "You can take a look at this if the course isn't working out."

"Thanks." Marshall opened up the book and began to read it as Sam went to find a place to put the other books on the shelves until they were needed.

"There will also be some training videos that you pups will also watch. Be ready for that." The Dalmatian just nodded as he looked to be focused on his book. Seeing this, Sam just left him to learn about the skills he would need.

A little while later, Marshall could hear some panting from the other five pups. They had worn themselves out from running on the course. "Maybe… We were out there… For too long," Skye panted.

"Yeah," Zuma agreed. "Need… Watew."

"Figured that you'd need a drink," Sam said. She had started laying out some bowls for the pups before pouring water into each of them. The pups were soon joined by Marshall, who wasn't as thirsty as they were.

"Where have you been?" Rocky asked.

"I was reading one of the books about fire training," Marshall explained.

Chase stopped drinking to look towards the Dalmatian. "Wait, those books came in?" he asked.

"What books?" Rubble asked.

"Mayor Goodway sent us as much information as we could so we could fully prepare for being a team."

"What did you read about?"

"Most of them were the basics of fire rescue," Marshall explained, "Including stopping, dropping, and rolling."

"That does sound basic," Rocky commented. "Did they have any crafting a catapult out of scrap metal?"

"I don't know, I didn't get a good look at all of them. Still, I feel like a good amount of knowledge about fire safety."

"Good for you. I swear my heart is working overtime right now."

A short while later, Ryder and Owen walked back into the room, smelling of oil. The pups could definitely smell it. "How was the course?" Ryder asked.

"It was fun!" Skye yipped.

"We really wore ourselves out," Rubble admitted.

"That's true," Chase commented, "Should help us prepare for real missions."

"Those are still a while away. We've got to get our gear set up first, including my new pup-pad."

"Pup-pad?" Owen questioned, "Is that what you're calling it?"

"It makes sense since this is a team of dogs."

"Plus, wasn't one of the working names for the name PAW Patrol?" Chase asked.

"I like the sound of that name," Marshall admitted.

"It does sound nice," Sam commented.

"Hope other people like it," Ryder said, "Still we've got a lot of work to do." The pups had to agree with him, Marshall felt a bit worried about the responsibilities they would have.

The next day, Ryder was biking down the street toward the university with the pups all following behind. Chase was much more comfortable walking through the city after their first rescue.

The team made it to the university and walked inside where they could hear some humming. "That kind of sounds like Kendra," Chase commented.

"She kind of sounds excited," Skye noted.

They found the room where Kendra was in and saw she had plenty of parts laying about waiting to be used. "Is that all for us?" Zuma questioned.

Kendra jumped a little bit when she heard the pup speak up before turning around. "Oh, Ryder, pups," she said, "I thought you would show up later."

"It is almost noon right?" Ryder asked. Kendra double-checked the time and saw that he was right.

"Oh, my watch must've been slow. Well, while you're here we might as well get started. Did you bring the sketches?"

"Yep, got them right here." He took out his sketchbook and showed some sketches of the various pup-packs with each one having a different design and function.

"Wow, and these look amazing!"

"Thanks. I was hoping you could help me iron them out a little. I've been thinking of what colors each pup could have."

"I think it would be a little process of elimination with their occupations. Blue is a good color for Chase for being a police pup, Marshall's a fire pup so red's his color, Rubble's yellow for construction. You have Rocky as a recycling pup, right?"

"Yep, so he's green. It's just Zuma and Skye that I'm having trouble with." As they tried to figure it out, the pups took a look at all of the metal, circuit boards, and various other parts.

"Man, it's like a gold mine of parts here!" Rocky gasped.

"Yeah, there's so much that can be done here," Chase commented. They looked around until they saw a shovel and a jackhammer, both looking like they were smaller for a pup to use.

"Guys, look at these wings!" Skye cried. She carried some metal wings over to where the pups could see them.

"Whoa, you think those awe for you?" Zuma asked.

"I mean… I did fly with cardboard wings. Imagine what I can do with these metal ones."

"And actually rockets," Rocky added. He showed the said part that he had found which made the cockapoo filled up with excitement.

"I'm going to be flying!" she cheered..

Ryder and Kendra looked at the pups as they kept digging through the supplies. "Just be careful pups," Kendra warned, "I tried to store those parts depending on which pup pack we're building."

Hearing this, the pups began to put the parts back where they found them as the humans went back to planning. "Okay, so orange will be a good color to help Zuma stand out in the water," Ryder commented. "So maybe violet could be the color for Skye."

"That's brilliant. The pups will make up a rainbow."

"Okay, perfect! Now do you still have the proto-pack?" Kendra simply pulled out a box and revealed the first pup-pack prototype. "Great! Let's see what we can do."

They started getting to work on upgrading the proto-pack as the pups weren't quite sure what to do. "Say, guys," Chase spoke, "Do you know any places around the city?"

"We could go to the arcade," Skye noted.

"I'm not up for playing Pup Pup Boogie right now," Rocky admitted.

"How about the beach?" Zuma asked.

"Ugh, definitely not. I don't want any sand in my fur. I'm not having another bath."

"How about the park?" Rubble asked. "I've stopped by there a couple of times."

"Me too," Marshall agreed, "We could play there while we wait."

"Sounds like a plan," Chase said. He explained the idea to Ryder, who was accepting of it, allowing the pups the leave for the park.

"Are you sure it's wise to let them out in the city of all places," Kendra asked.

"The pups have grown up in the city from what I can tell. Plus, they each have their own special pup tags, which not only work like their own phones but they also have trackers in them." He shows a map on his phone with each of the pup tag symbols moving away from the university.

"Oh, that's pretty clever." They went back to work on the pup packs, excited to see what they would be able to do.

After a little bit of walking, the pups would arrive at the park. They could see there were other dogs and a couple of kids already there. There was a jungle gym, slides, and even a merry-go-round to play with.

The pups walked around for what they could play with until Marshall and Chase noticed a young boy, who had light brown hair, an orange shirt, some green pants, and gray sneakers. They recognized the young boy as Alex Porter, grandson of Mr. Porter.

He saw the two pups and quickly ran over to them. "Marshall!" Alex called.

"Alex!" Marshall cheered.

"I haven't seen you in forever! How does it feel to be a rescue dog?"

"Um…. Not too sure. We only did one rescue so far and we don't even have the proper tools yet."

"Oh."

"Ryder's busy building them right now. He just needed some help to fully figure out how they would work and also he needed the parts."

"Is that like my grandpa saying that buying the ingredients for the cafe can get expensive."

"Yeah, you're right it's kind of like that."

"We're just letting him figure that out," Chase explained, "Until then, we're just having fun."

"Hey, guys, look what I found!" Skye called. She and Zuma had met a young girl, who was accompanied by a kitty. They had a jump rope and looked like they wanted to play.

Alex, Marshall, and Chase walked over to them with the girl and Zuma taking each end of the rope and started swinging it around. Once they got a good speed, Skye went first jumping.

"Okay, A," she proclaimed, "I am an aardvark, I come from Alabama, where I sell ant farms!" She laughed as she jumped out, allowing Marshall to take a turn at jumping.

"Oh, okay…" After seeing what Skye did, he tried doing something similar. "B. I'm a…. Baboon…. I come from…" Before Marshall could think of a location, he ended up tripping over the rope and getting himself tied up.

Alex and Chase walked over to him as the dalmatian struggled to get free and even failed. "Need some help?" Chase asked.

"Yes, please," Marshall muttered. After a few minutes and uniting the pup, Alex and the girl went back to skipping the rope with the other pups.

"You want to join back in?" Alex asked.

"I'm good," Marshall replied, "I'm going to try the merry go round." He walked away, leaving the other to list animals and other things as they jumped rope.

A little while later, the pups were still playing around as Marshall sat on the sidelines, resting under a tree. Rubble walked over to Marshall carrying a frisbee in his mouth. He was confused why the dalmatian wasn't running about. "Hey, Marshall, you're not doing anything," Rubble commented. "What's up?"

"I'm just… Resting before we start training with our pup packs," he explained.

"What do you think Ryder's going to put us through?"

"Hopefully it won't be too much. I still need to practice the obstacle course Owen had built but…" The pup was interrupted by their pup tags lighting up.

"Pups, we have some of the pup packs ready for testing," Ryder informed over the pup tags.

"Wait, already?"

"Only one way to find out. Head back over and check them out." After hearing this, all six pups quickly ran back to the university, excited to see what they would find.

When they got back, they would soon find three different pup packs, one blue, one green, and one red. The pups were amazed that half their gear was put together already built.

"How did you get them so fast?" Zuma asked.

"Once we figured out the basics for one pup pack, it was easier from there," Ryder explained. He looked over to the rest of the parts which had yet to be put together.

"If you want Ryder, you could take these home," Kendra noted. "You've got the blueprints, so you can build these as soon as you want."

"If you say so. Just need to find some way of transporting them." He took out his phone and texted his mom to help transport some supplies along with another request for the pups. After a little bit of waiting, Sam arrived to help carry the parts home in her car as the pups also jump on board.. They said bye to Kendra before leaving as the pups were curious about the pup packs.

"What do you think we'll be able to do with them?" Rubble questioned.

"Two of them are upgraded versions of the prototypes," Ryder informed.

"I thought those colors were for us," Rocky said as he looked at Chase. Turning to the pup beside him made the mixed breed bump a couple of heads, thanks to the lack of room in the back seat.

"Ugh, why didn't we take Owen's truck?" Chase groaned.

"He's busy right now," Sam said. "I know the back seat is a little cramped for all of you, but I have been thinking about buying a new car recently. Maybe a mini van."

"That could be a good choice," Ryder commented.

After a while they made it home and carried the boxes of parts inside. After that, Sam gathered up Chase, Rocky, and Marshall to show them something she had worked on for Ryder's request. Each pup was fitted with a color that matched the pup pack, blue, green, and red respectively.

Each pup felt excited to test their packs out once they got outside. Chase and Rocky found they had the prototype packs that were upgraded. Chase found he not only had a more efficient tennis ball launcher, but it also could fire a net. Rocky had a collection of tools to play with, ones he could control much more streamlined.

As for Marshall, his pup pack revealed a pair of water cannons. He was impressed and looked for something to aim at. He could see the tree Chase had used for target practice, so he thought he'd try to do the same thing. "Alright, water spray!" Marshall barked. The second water shot out, Marshall felt himself lose his balance and he started spraying water everywhere.

Some of it even managed to spray Chase and Rocky, much to the disgust of the latter. "Watch it!" he cried.

Marshall was unable to get control of his canons until Ryder jumped in and manually shut off the pup-pack. Once the water stopped, the Dalmatian was able to stand up properly. "Are you okay?" Ryder asked.

"I think so," Marshall replied.

"I'm not," Rocky groaned. He and Chase struggled to shake themselves dry. Ryder went to get a towel as Marshall felt a little ashamed of himself.

"Hey, water and tennis balls are two different things," Chase proclaimed, "I mean, you saw how I first used the launcher."

"That's true. Maybe I just need to work on my balance. These have some serious kickback."

"Maybe you should practice with something else. Those cannons can't be the only tool you have."

"Yeah, firefighters have to have other gear." Marshall barked for another tool and found an ax extending out of his pup pack.

"Um… I think I'll take the water canons," Rocky muttered while stepping back.

"Why would you have that?" Rubble asked.

"Most firefighters use axs to break through doors that are stuck," Marshall explained. "What else do I have?" Barking again, the other side of Marshall's pup-pack revealed some kind of giant pliers.

"What's that?" Skye questioned.

"These look like the jaws of life. They're used for breaking open car doors when they're jammed."

"How do you know this much about firefighting tools?" Rocky asked.

"I learned most of those from Mr. Porter," Marshall explained. "Maybe I could ask him for some advice for training."

"Sounds like a good idea," Chase commented. "Until then maybe you should put those other tools away. We don't want you tripping up with them." Marshall could tell what he meant and quickly had all of his tools tuck back away in his pup pack.

"I'm going to see if there's anything I can work on," Rocky said. He began walking inside as Sam came back out with some sewing materials.

"While Ryder finishes up your gear, I'll get your vests fitted," she informed. "They're the best way to get your pup-packs to stay on your back." She took out some colored yarn and held them up to the pups. Rubble and Zuma liked the yellow and orange colors respectively. However, when Skye was shown some purple yarn, the cockapoo didn't seem to like it. "Is something wrong?"

"Eh, this is kind of similar to Humdinger's color," Skye noted.

"She kind of wight," Zuma commented. "Do we want to have a matching colow to him?"

"Hmm, I see your point," Sam admitted. She checked her basket for another color and found some pink yarn. "How about this? It goes well with your collar."

Skye looked much happier with her second choice, judging by her wagging tail. "That's perfect!" she proclaimed.

"Alright. Now I can get started on your vests." Sam walked back inside just as the pups were nearly sprayed with water. They glared at Marshall, who decided it might be best to wait later for his water canon training.

"Sorry guys," he apologized. "Maybe I'll train somewhere else." Marshall walked away as the pups all went to do their own things. Zuma and Skye went to help Chase train, while Rubble went to watch TV.

A little while later, the sun began to set. Ryder was busy working the garage when Owen walked in. "Ryder, it's time to eat," he explained, "Also have you seen Rocky?"

"Right here," the mixed breed proclaimed. He popped out from under the ATV, covered in bits of oil. "I've been using my pup-pack's tools and I'd say they're working pretty well." He gave his socket wrench a spin before pulling it back into his pup-pack.

"Good for you. I'll meet you in the dining room." Owen walked back into the house as Ryder took out a tablet.

"Let's see if this function works," he said. He managed to make a panel extend out from the right side of the tablet to reveal a button that had the colors of each of the pups' tags. He pressed the button. "Calling all pups, do you read me?"

"Loud and clear Ryder," Chase responded.

"Me too," Zuma proclaimed.

"Same here!" Skye, Rubble, and Marshall called.

"Good, the roll call button seems to work," Ryder commented. "Dinner's being served now." The sound of paws scampering across the floor could be heard over Rubble's pup tag.

The bulldog managed to beat Rocky into the dining room, skidding on the tiled floor before standing in front of his bowl before Sam was starting to fill it up.

The rest of the pups began to show up with one of them missing. "Where was Marshall?" Skye asked.

"I think he went downtown," Chase guessed.

"I'm here!" the pup cried. Marshall ran into the house, not seeing one of the chew toys. He ended up tripping over it and tumbling into the kitchen, running into the other pups like they were bowling pins. The three humans looked at the pups, who had now piled on top of each other.

"Are you okay?!" Sam cried.

"We're good," Chase groaned.

"Marshall, please get better on your feet," Rubble groaned, "I don't want to get used to this."

"Sorry," Marshall muttered. He felt rather embarrassed.

Ryder helped the pups get up while asking the pups some questions. "So I already know how Rocky's pup-pack works, but how about you two?"

"The tennis ball launch is way more reliable now," Chase informed. "Plus the net works good too. Zuma would know."

Everyone looked towards Zuma, concerned with how that sounded. "I volunteewed fow it," the lab noted.

"Oh, that's nice of you," Sam commented.

"What about the other pup-packs?" Skye asked.

"With Rocky's help, we managed to get them done in record time," Ryder answered.

"So can we test them out!" Skye's tail was wagging as she couldn't contain her excitement.

"It's kind of late, so we'll have to test the second set tomorrow." Skye was a little disappointed, along with Zuma and Rubble.

"If it makes you feel better," Marshall spoke, "I'm still trying to get used to the water canons."

"Haven't you been training all day?" Rocky asked.

"Yes…. But I'm still a little shaky. I tried watering a couple of flowers in the park, but I ended up watering cars, buildings, and even some…. People and pups."

They could see Marshall's guilty expression as they could imagine how those misfires went. "Let's just try to leave training around home or set locations," Owen suggested.

"Probably a good idea," Ryder agreed. "The vehicles will probably be another story."

"Are you sure about the pups getting vehicles?" Sam asked.

"I managed to drive the prototype alright," Chase said.

"It does work," Ryder noted, "You pups just need to learn more about the rules of the road."

"Oh, so more training?" Rubble asked.

"At least I can't trip up over books," Marshall muttered quietly.

Later that night, Ryder helped prepare a spot for the pups to sleep in the living room. "Those pup houses you'll get will help for getting a place to sleep," Ryder commented.

"Yeah, it's kind of crowded in here," Skye admitted, looking at how close she and the pups were together.

"We'll work it out soon. Starting tomorrow we should be able to get started on the vehicles."

"Think we would be able to use the prototype as a training vehicle?" Chase asked.

"That's actually a good idea. I'll double-check with Kendra to see if it's fixable. All it would need is a new engine."

"I hope I'll be a good driver," Marshall muttered.

"You'll all do great. It's getting late, so I'm going to get to bed. Good night, pups."

"Night Ryder," the pup responded. Ryder turned off the lights in the room as the pups all started falling asleep. Marshall would be the last one to fall asleep, as he couldn't stop thinking about how hard had to control his pup-pack. Every time he used his water canons, it ended up with him hitting everything but what he was aiming at.

The young Dalmatian tossed and turned on his little bed as he tried to get himself to sleep, but he couldn't stop thinking about his struggle. Marshall sighed as he got up and walked over to where Sam had placed the books. He could see the book about fire training and thought he might as well do some reading.

After getting the book off the shelf, while also bringing down the police and aviator books, Marshall did his best to read the firefighting book. He read it for hours, slowly getting more tired over time. Eventually, the pup couldn't stay awake any longer and passed out.

When Marshall woke up, he found he had been moved back to the sleeping area, only he was the only pup there. He got up and walked around as some noises were coming from outside.

Walking outside of the doggie door, Marshall could see Rubble helping Sam by testing out his new pup pack. The bulldog was now wearing a yellow vest, that matched the color of the shovel he had on his back and the hard hat he wore. He was digging up some flowers and helping to put them into some pots for when they moved. Rubble looked back to see Marshall was awake and quickly approached him.

"Morning Marshall," Rubble said, "What were you doing up so late?"

"I was trying to read to be a rescuer," Marshall explained. "Is that your pup pack?"

Rubble looked at the shovel he had on his back. "Yep, pretty crafty, huh? Plus, we also got some new hats today." Rubble tapped on the new hardhat he had gotten.

"Cool! Where are the others?"

"They should be by the beach," Sam explained. "They went there because it's the best location to test Zuma's gear. Want me to give you a lift there?"

"No thanks. I think I know the way." Marshall took off to the beach, leaving Rubble and Sam to dig up the flowers.

After walking for a little while, Marshall managed to make it to the beach, where he could see Skye sitting by herself on the shore wearing a pink vest. The cockapoo noticed her friend approaching.

"Hi, Marshall," she said, "Thought you weren't going to get up this morning."

"Sorry about that, I was up late trying to read up on rescue work. Sam said that Zuma would be training here. Where is he?"

Skye just pointed out into the ocean just as some bubbles began to form. Suddenly, Zuma leaped out of the water and ran onto the shore. He was wearing an orange vest, similar in style to the rest of the pups. He was wearing a matching helmet but more importantly he had a pup-pack.

Zuma's pack was equipped with an air tank, which connected to his muzzle via a respirator. His pup had two motors on each side, which retracted into the pack once he was on land.

He spat out his respirator as he looked back at the water where Wally the walrus was waving to him. "Gweat swim Wally!" Zuma called as he waved back. The chocolate lab focused his attention on the other pups on land. "How'd I do?"

"You only gone for only five minutes," Skye noted. "That pack makes you so fast!"

"I was only so slow because I needed to go up for aiw. Now that I have my own tank, I don't need to come up as often."

"That's awesome!" Marshall commented. "Where are the others though?"

"They were with Ryder figuring out the vehicles," Skye explained.

"They're already starting on the vehicles?"

"Yeah, Owen, Ryder, and Rocky made quick work of the ATV. I think Chase is next."

"And…. What about you guys?"

"Wyder said he wanted to make my wide safe on and underwatew," Zuma explained.

"And I'm still waiting in my jetpack before my copter," Skye said. She soon realized that Marshall didn't seem to have his gear with him. "Say, Marshall, where's your gear?"

Marshall quickly realized what she meant by this. "I must've left it at home," he guessed. "Guess I won't be training with it." The Dalmatian then caught a glimpse of something down the street. It looked like an ATV, a rusty one at that, and it was being driven by someone young hauling a trailer behind them.

The driver soon parked closer to the pups and got off the ATV, removing their helmet to reveal it was Ryder. "Hi, Marshall," the young boy said, "Glad to see you're awake. You're just in time to see Skye's new wings."

"They're ready?!" Skye beamed. Unloading the trailer behind the ATV, they could see a pink vest along with some matching goggles and a pup pack. Ryder helped Skye place these on as the cockapoo could hardly contain her excitement. "I can't wait any longer."

"Just remember to take it slow, Skye. This is the second model we made."

"What was wrong with the first one?" Marshall asked.

"We had a design flaw that would've burned off Skye's tail," Ryder explained. "Hopefully we've fixed that flaw. Ready Skye?"

"I'm ready, already," Skye said, sounding impatient. Ryder did a quick last check on the pup pack before their test flight. Marshall and Zuma stood back so they wouldn't be in the way as a pair of wings extended out of each side of the pack. From the back, a pair of jets popped out and started to wind up.

Skye's tail wagged as she was ready to go. "Okay, remember what I said about…" Before Ryder could finish, the pup started getting a running start.

"This pup's gotta fly!" Skye proclaimed. She ran towards the water before jumping as she quickly took flight. Ryder and the pups watched as the cockapoo looked shaky at first and they were worried until Skye started flying higher.

"I think she's got the hang of it," Zuma commented. Judging by the way she was turning around and giving an excited howl before flying over them. "Look at hew go!"

"We should probably follow her just in case," Ryder proclaimed. They quickly ran to the ATV, where Marshall and Zuma climbed onto the trailer. Once on board, they took off after the flying pup.

Skye was having the time of her life as she flew above the city. Several people stopped and stared to see the flying pup shoot past them like a rocket. Ryder and the pups weren't too far behind as Skye tried slowing down, allowing them to catch up. "Skye!" Ryder called, "I think we should try focusing on landing!"

"Landing? Oh." Skye suddenly had a feeling she didn't think her plan all the way through. She tried slowing down more while maintaining as much flight as she .braced herself for a landing.

"Try running before you hit the ground!" Marshall cried. Skye did so, moving her legs in the air as she got closer to the ground. When she was finally close enough to the ground Skye did her best to get her legs moving at the speed she was flying at.

While it felt like she was skidding across a hot iron, Skye managed to keep herself from crashing and managed to get onto the ground, deactivating her jetpack, she finally managed to run a little before stopping. Ryder and the pups parked a short distance away before they ran up to her.

"Are you okay, Skye?" Ryder asked.

After taking a few breaths, the cockapoo spoke up. "Let's try that again!" she proclaimed.

"I think she's okay," Zuma commented.

"That's good," Ryder sighed. "Let's bring you to the scrap yard. We're getting the parts to prepare them at Dad's garage." Skye followed them back to the ATV, hopping into the trailer with Marshall and Zuma. They drove away to the scrap yard, where Owen's truck was parked with a trailer loaded with bits of scrap.

Rocky and Chase helped Owen find four rims for their first vehicles. "Okay, do we have a frame for the vehicle?" Chase asked.

"I've got them ordered with some assistance from the mayor," Owen explained. "Should be getting them soon."

"We should keep an eye out for more parts for each vehicle," Rocky noted. "I don't even know where to start for Skye's helicopter."

"Not sure where to start there. Probably going to have to call a pilot for something like that." They then saw Ryder and the rest of the pups had shown up. "Oh, hey Ryder," Owen said, "How'd the jetpack go?"

"Skye got a little excited so we nearly had an accident," Ryder said. He looked down at Skye, whose paws were feeling a little sore. "Other than that, everything seems to be fine. If we can keep it under control, I think we can perform more tests."

"Found another rim!" Rocky proclaimed.

"I can see the part hunting is going well."

"Yep, check it out, we've found four matching rims for Chase's ride," Ryder said. "I think we're getting started on Marshall's."

"Sweet," Marshall commented. "Anything I can help?"

"Hmm, I'm looking for some cables, parts of a ladder, and anything that could be parts of an engine." Rocky led Marshall into the yard with the rest of the pups following them. "Just make sure to watch out for anything sharp or heavy."

"Got it," the pups replied. They started splitting up into groups to search around as Marshall went along with Rocky. They looked around for parts of a fire truck.

"Should we get a water tank? I feel like I might need that," Marshall said.

"Of course," Rocky confirmed. "There should be some containers around here somewhere." They looked around, most containers looking like they were too small, broken, or just wouldn't fit on any kind of road vehicle. Eventually, they found something useful, it looked to be a tank of the perfect size.

"Look at that! We can use that!" Marshall began climbing up the mountain of scrap metal as Rocky looked worried.

"Marshall, be careful!" The future fire pup did try slowing down as he climbed up the scrap pile, but several pieces were a bit loose. As he climbed higher, bits and parts started to tumble down to the ground.

Rocky ran around the pile to avoid getting hit by bits of scrap metal. He kept calling out to Marshall to take caution. The Dalmatian didn't pay attention and just kept climbing.

By the time he got to the tank, he saw some scrap was starting to roll past him. Marshall saw that the tank was starting to wobble as it started coming loose. Before anyone knew it, the big pile Marshall was climbing on began to collapse.

Luckily for the pup, he managed to jump onto the tank and rode on it like a sled as they slid down the scrap pile before they came to a crashing stop at the bottom.

Marshall looked to be okay, just a little dazed from the crash. Ryder and the other pups ran over to check on him just in case. "Are you okay?" Ryder asked.

"I'm fine," the Dalmatian groaned, falling off the tank.

They were happy to see the pup was alright, then something caught Chase's eye.

"Is that a car?" he questioned. Owen and Ryder took a look at what the tank had crashed into which looked to be a few old automobiles.

"I think we've hit the jackpot," Owen proclaimed. He took a look at one of the cars that had a loose hood and found a fully complete engine inside. "Hey, I think some of these are salvageable."

"Perfect!" Ryder commented. "We can use these for the pups' vehicles. Good find, Marshall."

Marshall, who was still a little dazed from his unintentional stunt, managed to respond with "No problem."

That evening, after they had scavenged around for more parts, they dropped off what they had found at Owen's garage before heading back home. Sam was already preparing dinner when they showed up, albeit a little dirty from their scavenging.

"So did you have fun?" Sam asked.

"You could say that," Chase shrugged.

"Ouw pup packs wowked gweat," Zuma noted. "I've nevew been undewatew fow so long."

"And I got to fly again!" Skye added, "With an actual jetpack!"

"Now that I wish I could've seen," Sam admired. "Rubble has been having a good time with his pack."

"Yep, got to have the fun of digging while staying clean," Rubble boasted.

"And judging by the way you pups are looking, I'd say we should swing by Rebecca and Katie's tomorrow."

Rocky gulped. "…Sure that'll be necessary?" he asked.

"I mean…. The dust we got from the scrapyard is kind of…. Itchy," Chase admitted. He tried scratching himself, which made him knock off his hat.

"You pups can make it until tomorrow, right?" Ryder asked. There were a couple of replies noting that each pup would make it for tomorrow, though Rocky remained silent as he wanted anything other than a bath. After being given their food, Marshall was the first to dig in. Chase noticed that the Dalmatian was upset about something, but thought to save til after they were finished eating.

Once they were done, Ryder left the room for a short minute before returning with one of the books they got in the mail. "Okay, pups, I think it's important that we also read up on certain rescues," Ryder proclaimed.

"Like what?" Rubble questioned.

"Well, say a fire breaks out at a construction site."

"First thing to do would be to have everyone evacuate the area," Chase said, "Then simply extinguish the flames."

"But what kind of fire is it?" Marshall asked. The pups looked at him, confused by what he meant.

"It's… A fiwe," Zuma said.

"But I mean what's burning? Is it gas?"

"That would be one of the most likely culprits of the flame," Ryder commented.

"If we just spray water on it, then it could make the gas spread and make the fire worse."

"That's… True."

"So then what do we use to put out a fire without water?" Skye asked.

"Usually a different element like extinguisher form or even sand to suffocate the flames would work," Marshall noted. "Just need to make sure to shut off the gas so the emergency doesn't get worse."

"Fair point, Marshall," Ryder noted.

"This rescuing thing sounds a lot more complicated than I thought," Rubble admitted.

"It's alright, we'll get there. We're still in the training days." Some of the pups weren't too sure about this, few were even having second thoughts.

Later that night, while the pups were asleep, Chase thought he heard some crashing noises coming from the backyard. Worried it was something like a burglar, Chase ran to see what it was. To his surprise, he could see Marshall trying to run through the obstacle course. Despite his best efforts, he kept on tripping up.

Every time he tripped, Marshall ran back to the start of the course to try again. Seeing his friend struggle, Chase walked outside to check on him. "Marshall, what are you doing?" Chase asked.

After another pratfall, Marshall walked over to the German Shepherd, looking upset. "Hi, Chase," he sighed.

"It's like…. One in the morning. Are you trying to run the course?"

"Yes. I'm trying to beat it at least once without tripping over my own paws."

"How long have you been doing this?"

"Um…. I think I started around midnight. And I've barely made it halfway, I just keep tripping."

"Do you have to start over every time?"

"I had the worst time out of everybody. I'll never be a rescue pup if I'm the slowest. Besides, I caused that fall at the scrap yard. I'm just a clumsy pup."

"Well, you're a clever pup. You knew more about that fire emergency than any of us."

"Oh, really? I only just read those training books we got. Haven't you been reading them?"

Chase's ears drooped as he felt a little embarrassed to admit something. "I… Was too excited about the new gear so I didn't even open them."

"Oh. Well, that helps me feel better."

"Yeah, training seems to be more than just physical."

"Seems like it." The pups looked at the obstacle course before they both thought about what they said next. "Maybe I should try again with some more sleep."

"That's a good idea." Both pups started walking inside, hoping they would have some better luck in the morning.

The next morning, Marshall and Chase had woken up, had breakfast, and traveled with Samantha and the pups to the pet parlor. The car was still cramped with most of the pups having to share some of the seats.

Rocky was trying to get out of his seat, not wanting to go to the parlor. Despite his struggles and complaints, they arrived at the pet parlor, where Rebecca was just walking outside. "Oh, hello, Sam," she said. "We've got room for your pups prepared."

Sam stepped out of the car and opened the passenger door for the pups. "Thanks, Becky," she said, "Do you think you could give me some help with…". She paused so she could catch Rocky before he escaped.

"Ah, yes, I knew I remembered that pup," Rebecca commented.

"Put me down!" Rocky barked.

"Rocky, you're making this harder than it needs to be," Sam grumbled. They carried the mixed breed into the pet parlor as the rest of the pups followed them inside.

"So, how soon will we get those new vehicles?" Rubble asked.

"It'll take a couple of days or even weeks," Rocky informed. He was still trying to fidget out of Sam's arm as a bath was being prepared for him. "I could help speed it up if I was at the garage…"

"Just get in the tub," Sam grumbled. She dropped and tried forcing the mixed breed into the tub. Rocky kept trying to fight back until Rebecca rubbed some soap onto his paws. With the loss of friction, Rocky couldn't stop from being pushed into the water.

He stuck his head out, looking anything but happy. The rest of the pups had a much easier time getting in as Chase and Marshall were planning things out. After they were called forward, Chase decided to speak up. "So, I think we should get into our training more," he proclaimed.

"What are you talking about?" Rubble asked.

"I mean, we've only done some light exercise and tested out those pup packs for like a day. I think we can agree we had a lot more extreme time chasing that balloon."

"Yeah, still thinking about that wush," Zuma commented.

"He's got a point," Skye said, "I got lucky with my first test flight." She shook her paws as they still felt sore just thinking about this.

"Chase has a point," Sam noted, "You pups need to take your job seriously."

"And we need to research the proper methods too," Marshall added.

"Yeah," Chase agreed, "I think we were all confused with that possible emergency Ryder suggested. Most problems aren't going to be that simple."

"Rescue work never is that simple," Sam noted. "Ryder even asked me to help check on your training progress while he and Owen tried building the vehicles. Also, Skye would…"

She was interrupted when they saw a man walk into the parlor. "Hey, Sam," he said, "Sorry I'm late. Had to check on my schedule so I could help tutor your pup."

The pups looked at the man, who had red hair, a bit of a beard, and also a blue button shirt and jeans with some loafer shoes. "Who's this guy?" Marshall asked.

"This is Lance Sorensen," Sam explained. "He's going to be Skye's flight instructor. Thanks for helping us out Lance."

"No problem," Lance replied. "Have to say that it's going to be a unique experience teaching a dog how to fly. No offense."

"None taken," Skye said. She was just taken out of the tub and dried off.

"Hope your training goes well," Marshall said.

"Same here. I'll call you guys if things get bad."

"Don't worry, Skye," Sam said, "Lance is a great pilot." The cockapoo looked up at the man, who gave a friendly smile as she followed him outside. "As for the rest of you, we've got some training to do."

As the days went by, the pups worked their hardest. Sam made sure they were doing their best, going on runs to test their speed, and pulling wagons loaded with weight to help with their strength. Not to mention, there were various study sessions about what to do in certain emergencies. Surprisingly, Marshall was doing the best at these sessions given he had a bit of a head start.

Throughout this time, Marshall would also do his best to improve his time on the obstacle course. Despite him still tripping up in several spots, his time was improving with each attempt.

The vehicles were also taking shape, each one having its own gear added to them to fit the pups' professions. Ryder was excited when the pups would get to see them in action.

After a couple of days of training, the pups were brought to the garage with their gear to see the process. "I wonder what our rides will look like," Rubble said, "How fast do you think my vehicle can get?"

"I'd say you'd be the slowest," Rocky guessed. "Your vehicle is construction-themed so power might be a higher priority."

"I just hope we'll be able to use them," Marshall muttered.

"You'll be driving on the ground," Skye noted, "Mr. Sorensen was a good instructor, but those testing copters are not made for us pups. Still, feels great to fly." As the pups walked up to the garage, they saw the door was closed with Owen and Ryder standing in front of it.

"Take a good look at what you're going to get pups," Ryder said. He pressed a button, opening the garage door to slowly reveal the six vehicles inside. A police car with the number 02 on its sides, there was a fire truck number 03, a helicopter number 04, a recycling truck number 05, a bulldozer number 06, and a hovercraft 07.

The pups were amazed by these vehicles. Each one already wants to fire them up. Rubble wasted no time jumping into the rig and tried to start the engine. He only managed to press a couple of random buttons with the rig not starting. "How do I make it go?" the bulldog asked.

"It's not too much of a complicated process," Owen said. "We didn't tell you right away because we didn't want you smashing up my garage. Chase, come over to your car so we can demonstrate."

The German shepherd listened and hopped into the driver's seat of the number 2 vehicle. "Now, just push down on the brake and press the black button," Ryder explained. Chase did so and the engine roared to life. He slowly drove it out of the garage and parked it on the side of the street so it could be seen in the sunlight.

The pup looked at the other buttons on the dashboard, not fully understanding them. "What do the rest of these buttons do?" he asked.

Ryder walked over to the police pup while Owen helped the other pups get their vehicles started. "Each button has something that you'll need," the boy explained, pointing to the different buttons. "This one works the winch at the front of your car, this one will activate your sirens, and this one will switch your traffic cones for a passenger seat."

"Neat!" Chase looked back at the rest of the pups, who were trying to learn how to control their vehicles. Rocky was slowly moving his truck onto the road, Rubble was off to a jerky start, and Zuma was doing some donuts, just not intentionally.

"Whoa, dudes!" the chocolate lab cried. "Do you work this thing?"

"Try pushing on the gas softer," Owen suggested. Zuma tried that and found the hovercraft much easier to use. Skye was looking at her new helicopter, which wasn't able to take off inside of the garage.

"Should we push this outside?" the cockapoo asked.

"Probably a good idea. Maybe we should bring it to the airfield where you've been training." Owen and Sam helped Skye push the copter onto a flatbed that they had prepared.

"Owen, won't the parts of the copter break off?" Sam asked.

"Don't worry, Ryder thought about that. Say, Ryder, show them would the special trick with these rides?"

"Sure can do," Ryder proclaimed. He pulled out his pup pad and pressed on an icon that looked like Skye's pup tag. The moment he did this, the helicopter's wings and propellers were pulled back inside of it and parts shifted around until it looked like a small pup house.

"Wow!" Skye gasped, "These are vehicles and pup houses?"

"I got the idea from those projects Kendra told me about at the University. It helps new meaning to a mobile home." Chase chuckled when he heard this line.

"Hopefully this will also help with any space issues at the new lookout."

"Speaking of which, how is it looking?" Skye asked.

"We're getting the bear essential planned out, bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen, and such." Ryder helped to secure Skye's helicopter/pup house onto the trailer as Marshall slowly drove onto the street and parked next to Chase.

"I thought I was going to be prepared for this," the Dalmatian muttered.

"Hey, we've had more experience than the others," Chase noted, "I mean, look at Rocky." The two of them looked back at the mixed breed in his recycling truck.

Rocky groaned in annoyance as his truck jerked back and forth. "Ugh, I told Sam that I should've helped build this when we had the controls put in," he complained. He tried pushing a couple of buttons as thought one would activate the forklift prongs but instead made the truck's horn honk. This shocked the mixed breed, nearly making him jump out of his seat.

"Huh, I thought he'd have the easiest time out of all of us," Marshall admitted.

"Same here," Chase agreed. "If Rocky's having a hard time, you need to feel bad about struggling." This helped Marshall feel better. "But just to give you some tips, I don't think you should be parking in the middle of the road." Marshall saw his new truck was blocking both sides of the road. Seeing this mistake, he quickly moved his truck onto the side like Chase did, only to have one of his tires parked on the sidewalk.

"Um… How's this?" The Dalmatian looked back at his friend, feeling a little nervous.

"...We'll work on it."

More time passed, the pups learned how to work with their vehicles. Chase, Marshall, and Rocky would have the easiest time as their vehicles were just like regular automobiles, thus they could have basic training. Skye would be a little harder, but she was already getting training to become a pilot.

Rubble would be a little trickier since his rig would be a construction vehicle, so training to use it would be a little more difficult. And Zuma mostly drove his hovercraft on the water, that was what it was built for after all. It took him a little while to get used to driving it on land, given it took it a little while to stop.

Despite these issues, pups were learning all that they needed to know all of the dos and don'ts of driving. They were almost ready.

One day, the pups all got up and were expecting another day of training. However, outside of the house, they found what looked to be the prototype car they used in their first rescue. This model looked a little different. There were only three seats now, two in the front for the pups and a bigger seat for a human.

"Did they fix this?" Skye questioned. "What's with the different seating?"

"Maybe it has something to do with our test?" Chase guessed. Ryder then walked outside to join the pups. He was now wearing a red and white vest that had a badge on his chest that looked similar to the pups' tag, only his bade was red a paw print on it. He saw the vehicle had been waiting for them.

"Oh, Kendra must've had that dropped off," he commented.

"So it's supposed to be here?" Rubble asked.

"Yep. I got a call from Mayor Goodway and she said we should have an inspector visiting today to test how your training has come along."

"You think we're ready?" Marshall asked.

"You've been doing great," Chase reminded. "I'm sure we'll be fine in this. So when should the inspector be here?"

"He should be here any minute," Ryder explained, "Mayor Goodway even offered to drop him off here."

"Is that her car?" Rocky asked, pointing to an approaching automobile.

An orange car drove up and parked beside the house as two people stepped out, Mayor Goodway, and a man in a suit holding a clipboard.

He looked to Ryder and the pups then to the strange-looking vehicle. "So this is the team that helped save you?" he asked Goodway.

"They may not look like much, but these pups have some courage and willpower for their size," Goodway said, "Not to mention that boy is a young genius. He helped to build most of the equipment they possess."

"Very interesting. I suppose that vehicle is what we're using for their driver's test?" the inspector asked.

"It was recycled out of the first prototype for the vehicles," Ryder explained. "The new vehicles are very impressive."

"Actions speak bigger than words, young man," the inspector said, "Let's not count our eggs before they hatch."

Rubble was confused and whispered something to Chase. "What does that mean?" the bulldog asked.

"It means we shouldn't celebrate yet," the German Shepherd replied quietly.

"Well, sir," Ryder said, "Would you like to get started now?"

"Yes, I would," the man said. "Mayor Goodway, I'll give you a call when we're ready for the next part."

"Yes sir," she replied. She stepped back into her car before she waved goodbye to the team. "Good luck pups!" She drove off as the inspector walked over to the test car and sat down in the back seat.

"Hmm, surprisingly roomy," he commented, a little surprised. He then clicked his pen and looked back at the pups. "Now, who's first?"

Most of the pups were feeling nervous until Chase raised his paw. "I think it'll be wise for me to go, sir," he proclaimed. He walked over to the driver's seat and hopped on board.

"Very well, Chase," the inspector said, "Let's start driving around the city and follow my directions."

"Yes sir." Chase drove away into the planned test route around Adventure City. They drove down Main Street, being cautious about the traffic around them. After his first rescue, Chase wasn't panicking about the loud vehicles around him.

They drove around a few key locations, such as by the beach, past city hall, and by the train station. All the while Chase was instructed to give turn signals, check for oncoming traffic at intersections, and every so often be instructed to pull over and perform a brake test. After a little bit of driving, they returned back to the house and parked back in the driveway.

"Very well done, Chase," the inspector said. "I have to say, I was suspicious about how this would go, but I feel we're off to a good start." He wrote a few things down on his clipboard as Ryder and the rest of the pups came out to see them.

"How did the test go?" Ryder asked.

"Chase did very well," the inspector said. "I'm honestly having a lot more confidence in this plan." The German shepherd jumped out of the seat as the rest of the pups walked up to the car. "Now, who's next?"

One by one, each pup took a turn driving the car around the city, listening to the instructions about where to go and a few brake tests along the way. It was soon to be Marshall's turn and he felt anxious. While he waited for Rubble to return from his test, Marshall was pacing around the house.

The others could tell he was worried about how he had been training since the team was first announced. Chase and Ryder got him to stop so they could talk. "Nervous about the test?" Ryder asked.

"Yes," Marshall admitted. "I often trip over my own paws most of the time, and then… Whoa!" As if on cue, the pup tumbled over and groaned in disappointment. Ryder helped pick him up and helped sit him down on the couch.

"Look, Marshall, I know how stressful this situation can be, but we're in this together."

"Yeah, you were one of the reasons why I got my courage," Chase proclaimed. "You were the one to suggest we use to prototype for that rescue, remember?"

"Yes, I remember," Marshall said. "It's just… I'll be doing this on my own."

"You need to have confidence in yourself," Ryder noted. "All the rest of the pups have passed so far, so the chances are looking great for you." They then heard the door open as Rubble and the inspector walked in.

"I'm back," Rubble proclaimed, looking pleased with himself.

"Rubble did fairly well," the inspector said, "Now I believe last but not least is Marshall."

"Th-that's me," Marshall stuttered. He followed the man outside and both of them sat down in the car seats.

"Now, Marshall, just pull out of the driveway and start heading down Main Street." The Dalmatian nodded and slowly drove out onto the streets and started driving away, listening to the instructor's instructions.

Marshall followed the same route as the rest of the pups. He took a little longer than most of the others as his nerves were getting the best of him. "Am I doing good?" he asked.

"You're doing fine. Just try to go the speed limit, I think people are starting to line up behind us." Marshall heard a horn honk, making him jolt forward a little. He saw some discomfort from the inspector.

Slowly but surely, they made their way around town with Marshall performing tests like what to do when braking on a hill. After what felt like hours, they returned to the house as the inspector wrote his notes of what he witnessed.

Marshall turned the car's engine off as he could see the rest of the pups and Ryder. "How did it go?" Chase asked.

"A little slow, and a little jumpy in a few spots," the inspector noted. Marshall was worried as the man wrote down notes. "However, he did follow all instructions accordingly. Congratulations Ryder, your pups are well trained as they have all passed the driving portion of the test."

The pups were ecstatic about passing and Ryder asked the inspector a question. "So, now what?" the boy asked.

"Now that your best can legally drive on the road, now we just have to prepare test emergencies for all of them. We'll have them paired into teams and each emergency will be tailored to fit both pups' professions. I'll let the mayor know about this while you and your pups prepare. Head to city hall when we give you a call when it's time."

"Thank you, sir." After that, the inspector walked away while pulling out his phone to make a call.

"So far so good," Skye noted.

"Yeah, but we've still got to show we can do a rescue," Rocky noted.

"Let's just get our gear prepared so we aren't off guard for the tests to begin," Ryder suggested. He followed the pups inside to help them prepare.

When the call came in, Ryder and the pups drove their vehicles to city hall. Ryder was excited to use his ATV, the same for all the pups and their vehicles. They arrived at their destination where Mayor Goodway and the inspector were waiting for them.

"Hello, Ryder, pups," the mayor said, "Glad you can make it."

"We're happy to be here," Ryder said. "So, you said we're going to have practice rescues?"

"Of course. We'll have the first one set up as soon as we can. Hopefully, it'll work on your planning and teamwork skills."

"That doesn't sound too hard," Rubble commented. "What's up first?"

"Wait and see," the inspector said. They gave the pups a few more minutes to brace themselves for what would happen.

While they were waiting, Alex arrived on his trike, amazed to see Marshall with his fire truck. "Whoa, Marshall, is that yours?" the young boy asked.

"Oh, hi, Alex," the Dalmatian replied. "Yes, this is my truck. And we're going to be using it soon."

"Wow, can I watch?"

"Um, I don't think so. We don't know what we're exactly going to be doing. Maybe you head back to the cafe and we could play after this." They both heard an alarm sound going off and focused their attention on Ryder, who had gotten a call from Cap'n Turbot.

"Hello, Ryder here," the boy answered.

"Hi, Ryder," Cap'n Turbot responded, "I believe my boat is stuck on some rocks." He moved his phone's camera to show while he was close to some rocks, he wasn't really stuck on them. "I won't be able to drive the flounder back to Seal Island now."

Ryder could tell this was part of the practice. "No worries Captain, we're on our way." Cap'n Turbot ended the call as Ryder looked towards the pups. "Okay, with Cap'n Turbot's boat damaged, we need to safely tow him back to Seal Island. Zuma, I'll need you and your hovercraft to help tow the flounder back to land."

"Let's dive in!" Zuma proclaimed in excitement.

"And since we need to be careful of running into any rocks, Skye, I'll need your eyes in the sky to help us avoid running into anything."

"This pup's gotta fly!" Skye cheered.

"Alright, let's roll!" Ryder, Zuma, and Skye raced off to the ocean for their rescue.

As they got closer to the water, Skye was worried about the ATV going to land in the water. "Um, Ryder, you're about to drive into the ocean," she warned.

"I know," Ryder proclaimed. He quickly tapped on his pup-pad saying, "Life jacket, deploy!" Ryder's vest puffed up like a life jacket as he and Zuma drove off the end of a dock. With another tap on his pup-pad, the ATV quickly shifted around with the front tires sucking into the sides, floats flipping down, and the rear tires turned into fan blades similar to the ones on Zuma's hovercraft.

Both Ryder and Zuma started driving their watercrafts across the sea to find where Cap'n Turbot was at. Skye was curious about what just happened. "Ryder, when could your ATV do that?" she asked.

"I figured I'd use some of the tech in your vehicles and pup houses in my ATV," he explained. The three carried out on their way to complete their rescue mission.

Out by the rocks, Cap'n Turbot was waiting on his boat waiting for the pups to arrive. When he could see them coming, he quickly started acting like it was a real problem. "Oh, good you're here," he proclaimed. "The Flouder's filling up fast and we need to find our way back to the lighthouse so it can be fixed."

"No worries, Captain," Ryder said, "We'll tow you back to the island in no time." Ryder and Zuma got into place behind the boat where they would be chained to the Flounder as Skye flew above and used her goggles to scan a path for them to look at.

"Just follow me, and I think we should get to Seal Island in one piece," the cockapoo said.

"Lead the way, Skye." With the copter being piloted around the big rocks, Ryder and Zuma towed the boat to safety. Though, it was kind of difficult given where the flounder was located and the amount of rocks.

"Cap'n, how did you get the flounder stuck hewe?" Zuma asked.

"I tried asking Wally about what could be a good spot, but I think we got in pretty deep," Turbot admitted. "Don't think asking a walrus for directions is very wise."

Despite this, they carried on slowly but surely until they had made it to Seal Island. Once there, Cap'n Turbot let out the anchor and grabbed his phone to make a call. Mayor Goodway answered on the other end. "Was the rescue a success?" she asked.

"Yep, they brought the boat back to my home base without being bashed or broken," Cap'n Turbot confirmed. "I'd say this was a successful rescue."

"Perfect. Make sure Ryder and the pups return to land for the next mission." He did so, letting them know that Zuma and Skye had passed their part of the test.

Getting back to city hall, they rested for a little bit before getting their next call. "Hello?" Ryder respond.

"Hi, Ryder," a man called.

"Jake, is that you?"

"Yeah, long time no see. Listen, I was driving along when all of a sudden, this rock slide came out of nowhere. I'm alright but I think it did a number on my truck. Mind coming over and taking a look?"

"We're on our way, Jake. Just hang tight."

"Will do." When they ended the call, Ryder looked at the pups. "We have a landslide, along with a damaged truck. Rubble, you and your rig are going to be needed to clear the road.

"Rubble is on the double," the bulldog proclaimed.

"And since Jake's truck will require fixing, Rocky, I'll need you and your tool to help with the repairs. Plus, I'll need your truck to help move the earth from the landslide away."

"Green means go!" Rocky shouted.

"Let's go, we're on a roll!" Ryder sped off, leading the charge to Jake's mountain. As they left, Marshall had looked to see that Alex had left.

"What are you looking at?" Chase asked.

"Alex was here a few minutes ago," Marshall explained. "He must've left after the first mission started."

"It's probably a good idea. These emergencies might just be tests, but they can still be dangerous. I hope Rubble and Rocky do okay."

A little while later, at Jake's Mountain, Jake was sitting in his truck, playing on his phone before he could see Ryder and the pups showing up. He placed his phone away as he quickly started to set the scene. "Ryder, dude!" Jake called, glad you're here. Sweet rides."

"Thanks," Ryder replied. He got off his ATV and inspected the scene. Jake's truck had just parked in front of the mountain of rubble, but it did look like one of his tires was a little low.

"I think you should have the engine checked for damages."

"Will do, Jake. Just pop the hood and we'll get to work." Jake did so, Ryder propped it up the hood so Rocky could hop up and take a look at it. It seemed that a couple of parts were removed from the engine to make it look like it was broken down.

"It looks like a couple of bolts and belts are missing from here," Rocky commented. "Did you really have this done to your engine?"

"Eh, Owen said he'd help put it back together if things went wrong," Jake shrugged.

"I think I might have some way to find a replacement belt in my truck." Rocky opened the back of his truck before he hopped inside and tossed out various items until he managed to find a spare belt from the truck. "I knew that hanging around the junkyard was a good idea."

Once he had the replacement, the mixed breed left his truck open so that Rubble could start loading the "landslide" into it. Rocky fitted the belt to Jake's engine and replaced a couple of other parts he had found.

"Wow, you're a smart pup."

"Thanks. You'd be surprised how useful the things people throw away are. Don't lose it, reuse it."

"Think you can try and start the engine," Ryder suggested. Rocky hopped down from the front of the truck, just as Jake started the engine, which started up without an issue.

"Sweet saved me a trip to the garage," Jake said, "Thanks, dude."

"No problem Jake," Rocky replied. "We should be good once Rubble is done clearing the path." They stood back and watched as the bulldog used his rig to load up the dirt and stones into the back of the recycling truck.

After Jake's emergency was taken care of, the team was back at City Hall. Rocky was trying to clean out the bits of dirt and stones that were still stuck inside despite dumping the load elsewhere. "Maybe I should've gotten a trailer to carry the stones," the mixed breed proclaimed.

"It's our first time," Rubble noted, "We'll work around that next time."

As they cleaned it out, Ryder got their third call. "Hello, Ryder here," he said.

"Hi, Ryder," called a blonde girl, "It's me, Katie."

"Oh, hi, Katie. Like the new gears the pups and I have?"

"My mom showed me some pictures. Right now, I need you to help with something. I've got a few cats stuck in a tree. Some of them I'm worried might fall." Katie looked up to a nearby tree, which actually had a couple of plush toys sitting on a branch.

"Don't worry, Katie, we'll be right there." With that, it was time for Marshall and Chase. "Okay, Chase, your net is going to be needed in case any of the cats fall."

"Chase is on the case," the police pup proclaimed.

"And Marshall, your ladder is going to be needed to reach the kittens and get them down."

"I'm fired up!" Marshall said, trying to sound brave.

"Alright, PAW Patrol is on a roll!" Ryder, Chase, and Marshall sped away, this time with the two pups having their sirens blaring.

As they got closer to Katie's location, Chase started slowing down as he sniffed the air. "Marshall, do you smell that?" the German shepherd asked.

The Dalmatian stopped his truck as he could catch a whiff of what his friend got. "Kind of smells like…. Smoke. And when there's smoke…"

"There's fire!" Both pups cried. Looking around, they could see a small cloud of smoke forming near the dense part of Adventure Bay.

"That looks like it's coming from the Porter Cafe. We better check it out!" Forgetting about their test, Marshall changed course and drove towards the cafe, with Chase and Ryder following him behind.

A fire had broken out at the cafe, and Mr. Porter was helping everyone get clear. "We can watch the fire from a safe distance," he stated. "Get back from it starts spreading!"

"Grandpa look!" Alex cried. The young boy pointed. They looked to see Marshall had shown up at the scene of the disaster.

"Marshall?" Mr. Porter hadn't expected to see the stray show up in a custom-made fire truck.

"Mr. Porter, what happened?" the pup asked.

"Um, I was just preparing for the lunch rush when I accidentally spilled some cooking oil and now my kitchen is on fire!" He saw that Ryder and Chase showed up, seeing the smoke from the kitchen.

"Um…. This isn't a surprise test, is it?" Chase asked.

"Definitely not," Ryder commented. "Use your megaphone to help evacuate the area." Chase nodded before jumping out of his car and having his megaphone extend out of his pup pack.

"Please, clear the area!" he cried, "Fire could spread!" With people being able to hear the pup's voice and start listening to orders.

Marshall was about to head in, but he needed to know something from Mr. Porter first. "Is your stove electric or gas-powered?" the fire pup asked.

"Gas-powered," Mr. Porter explained. "There are some valves at the back of the building."

"We'll shut them off then sort out the fire," Ryder proclaimed. Mr. Porter and Alex soon left the scene as Marshall and Ryder ran to the back of the cafe, finding the piping to the gas line. Ryder tried to turn the valve off, but it seemed to be stuck. "Ugh, I can't move it."

"Let me try something," Marshall proclaimed, "Ruff! Jaws!" He got out his jaws of life which he used to grip onto value and managed to get it to close. "Now, we can try to contain the fire inside."

"Marshall, I haven't gotten enough time to fully plan out all of your gear fully planned out yet."

"Yes, but this is a real fire that needs to be taken care of." Marshall quickly ran to his truck and got himself equipped with extinguishing foam. Once equipped, he ran inside of the building to take care of the kitchen fire.

There were only a few seconds left before the flame spread to the rest of the cafe. Marshall got his canons out before shooting out the foam and dousing the flames. With quick effort, the fire in the kitchen had been put out and the fire pup ran back outside to catch his breath.

After things started to calm down, Mayor Goodway, the inspector, and the rest of the pups showed up to see what happened. "This wasn't a part of the plan," the inspector commented. "What happened here?"

"A kitchen fire broke out of control," Ryder explained, "Thankfully Chase and Marshall were able to sniff it out.

"Yeah, I think we've got it under control," Marshall proclaimed. Mayor Goodway and the inspector took a look at the fairly burnt cafe as they muttered between each other. While they did that, Marshall looked towards the other pups.

"Do we still have time to make the test rescue?" the fire pup asked.

"These tests were timed," Rocky explained. "You guys didn't even show up." By the sound of that, it sounded like Marshall and Chase had failed their test.

"Hey, we helped keep people safe from a fire," Chase noted. "This could've been worse. It might've spread to other buildings."

"You're right. At least people are safe." Marshall managed to regain a faint smile on his face as they looked back to the mayor and the inspector who was approaching them.

"Well, since both of you failed to show up for your test, I would normally fail you," the inspector stated, "However since this was a real emergency, I'm willing to make an exception."

"You are?" the pups questioned.

"Yes. If you didn't jump in this situation it would've been much worse. Congratulations you two have passed and that makes you a full team of six."

Upon hearing this, the pups cheered as if they were a real team now. "I can't believe we did it," Marshall admitted.

"I know, this is really happening," Mayor Goodway confirmed. "Now we just need to get everything together and you'll be fully prepared you to be Adventure City's Rescue Team."

A news advertisement was being shown across Adventure City showing various shots of emergency vehicles, tools, and sirens with Marty Muckraker narrating over it.

"When somebody needs help in Adventure City, the best person for the job…. Is a dog!" The scene then showed a show of Skye's jetpack before revealing her tail. The screen then panned to show the six pups lined up before showing flashes of them with their vehicles.

All while they did this, the pups spoke a pledge. "In dark of night, in light of day, we, the PAW Patrol, will serve Adventure Bay. From runaway trains to stranded whales, we'll rush to the rescue with wagging tails. If danger is near, just give a yelp! The PAW Patrol is here to help!"

There was one final shot of the six pups before the screen showed Marty walking on screen. "It's hard to believe these six adorable pups could be the new heroes of our lovely city," he said. "However, they prove isn't everything as they have shown they are more than capable of helping to keep our city safe."

It then showed Ryder standing with the pups standing proud. "Whenever you're in trouble, just yelp for help," he said.

Ryder, Chase, and Marshall finished watching the full advertisement. "Wow, we look awesome in that!" Marshall commented.

"We sure do," Ryder commented, "You think I overdid it with that yelp for help thing?"

"It's a catchphrase," Chase proclaimed, "We've done them in our training so a slogan for us would help make us recognizable."

"Hey, Ryder!" Owen called, "Can you give me a hand?" Ryder placed down his pup pad to check in on his dad. Owen was trying to get the TV mounted onto the wall with Rocky trying to screw it into place. The TV was heavy though so Owen was having a hard time keeping it in place.

With some help from Ryder, they were able to keep it steady for Rocky to secure it into place. "Okay, you can let go now," the mixed breed proclaimed. The father and son let go, now having the TV hang on the wall. "That looks great."

"Yep, sure does," Owen agreed, "Thanks for the help, Ryder."

"You're welcome," Ryder responded. "How's the rest of the lookout looking?"

"The bedrooms and kitchen are set up. How's about the top of the lookout?"

"I think it's ready to be checked out. Hey, pups, want to take a look with me!?"

"On our way," Chase proclaimed. He walked over to the elevator with Marshall. They went upstairs with Ryder, going past an emblem, where Chase and Marshall got suited up in their vest, headwear, and pup packs. They reached the top floor where the main meeting room for missions would be located.

There were several buttons and controls in the room along with windows all around to help give a 360 view of what was going on outside. Ryder pressed a button on his pup-pad to make a screen scroll down from the ceiling and pulled up an image of the six pup tags.

"Seems like everything is in order," Ryder commented. "Still amazing that we're in this state."

"I never thought we'd ever be here," Marshall admitted. He looked down around the base of the lookout, where their pup houses sat on a turntable around the building. Rubble, Zuma, and Skye running around playing as Sam was talking with the moving company about the last of the stuff from the old house.

"I feel like we're going to improve a lot from this point," Ryder noted, "I'm already thinking of ways of improving our gear with all of the rescues we'll be doing."

"How do you think those will go?" Chase asked.

"Only time will tell. But whatever happens, we'll handle it no matter what. No job is too big, no pup is too small."
