A pair of dark brown eyes fluttered open as a deep groan was heard.

"Ugh, my head feels so fuzzy all of a sudden—" This voice came from no one other than Frankester Harris, or otherwise known as Frankie.

"Oh thank goodness, you're awake!" A cheery female voice rang in the room. The sound of several footsteps getting louder and louder was followed. "The wizard has awaken!"

"Ugh, Nalia, can't it wait? It's like, seven in the morning— oh hi!"

Once Frankie's blurry vision cleared up, he could see some kind of white cat donned in light blue clothing walking with a pair of feet… how was that possible… and this pink genie floating around. To him, the genie looked like a genie-version of Princess Peach from the Mario series which gave him a chuckle.

"What's so funny?" asked the pink genie. "You weren't that laugh-y daff-y when Overlord Xerxes wiped you out, heh. You should've seen the look on your face— ow!"

The cat, Nalia, elbowed the pink genie. "You should be mindful of the words exiting your mouth, Istar."

"Well so-rry." The genie chuckled but hung her head low in shame before looking back to Nalia and Frankie. "I'm Istar. The house Djinni of this… house. Yeah, I work for Sultana Sharzad." She introduced herself. "This is Nalia Dunestrider, she studies in Pigswick Academy in Wysteria but she's here to pay me and Sultana a visit." Istar added while glancing to Nalia. "It's finally nice to meet you, young wizard. Paul Hawkbane, correct?"

This confused Frankie even more. What the hell is a walking cat and a genie doing here? Or is he still on earth? And… young wizard? Overlord Xerxes? Paul Hawkbane? Boy, this was giving him quite a headache.

"Wait… who the hell are you?" Frankie began to interrogate defensively, quickly standing up on the bed he was lying on a few minutes ago pointing accusingly at Nalia and Istar. "Where am I? Who the hell am I? How the hell did I get here? Wait… where are my friends?!"

"Whoa whoa whoa, easy there tiger." Istar cornered him and helped calm him down.

Nalia motioned Frankie to sit back in bed. "You fainted during a battle with Overlord Xerxes. Well, it's fine since it was your first time battling him." Istar snickered. "Bet he wasn't that easy to beat. Oh well, the bad news is that he's gonna start wreaking havoc once he gets in the graces of some random being and yada-yada—"

"I don't understand anything. Where did I come from?"

"Uh… from the Arcanum?" Nalia nervously answered. Sighing after, she added, "I guess it's safe to say that the young wizard Paul here has gotten amnesia. Maybe Xerxes did hit him several times too hard in the head…"

"Wait wait wait wait wait. You two don't understand. I was in the library with my friends at school because we were in detention. Then we opened up this book and I read a passage from it by accident. Then I remember being sucked into that freaking book , a popping headache that I was sure would split me in half, and BOOM, here I am, talking to some random genie straight out of Aladdin and a walking cat."

Nalia and Istar listened to his tale, looked at each other for five seconds, and burst out laughing as if they were having a session of girl talk, talking about embarrassing secrets.

Istar took the time to catch her breath as her laughing died down. "So you're telling me, you have no idea that you are Paul Hawkbane, Prodigious Sorcerer and Arcanum Understudy? "

Frankie shook his head no.

"Ha! Oh, we are so dead once the Sultana finds out about this. She's gonna think we KO'd your head with a giant boulder and dyed your hair purple or something! Oh wait, your hair really is purple." Istar continued to blabber, earning her another elbow jab from Nalia. "Ow! Stop doing that! You're hitting someone who works for a person part of the royal family, you know!"

"If you stop talking like that, that is." Nalia replied.

"My hair is purple?" Frankie once again asked in complete disbelief. He looked at the hand mirror placed in the edge of the nightstand not too far away from the bed he was on. "Can… one of you be so kind and get that mirror for me? I need to see how I look."

"Sure thing, wizard." Nalia obliged and grabbed the hand mirror, handing it to the now purple haired boy.

Frankie snatched— er, gladly took the hand mirror from Nalia and examined himself using it.

They were right. Frankie's once short, curly, caramel brown hair was now in a vivid purple. It was a bit longer than his usual haircut so he had a low ponytail to keep it back. His eyes remained dark brown though, and nearly almost all his facial features retained… maybe it was just his hair that changed. With that mindset, he gave a sigh of relief.

He wasn't even wearing his school uniform. The brown dress pants, white dress shirt, maroon tie, maroon blazer… all gone. Instead, he wore tan colored wizardry garbs with some sort of orange-ish red trim to it. A pair of matching boots were placed just next to the bed he was resting on… along with a hat that looks like it's seen better days.

"What. The. Fuck…" He couldn't help but gasp at his new look. He felt like he looked better, but god, his head still felt like shit.

Istar let out a sheepish chuckle. "What's a fuck? That sounds new."

"Oh… uh…" Frankie gulped. He wasn't expecting that these people, or creatures, don't know what a curse word is. "It's a word we use in our place. Uh… don't say it, doesn't mean anything good."

Nalia widened her eyes as if she got what he was saying. "Oh, so there are other words being used in the Arcanum?"

"Wait— what? No! Ha!" Another gulp escaped from Frankie's lips. "Heh heh, I mean… let's forget this conversation ever existed."

It was Nalia and Istar's turn to be confused. They shared glances at each other on whether or not Frankie… or Paul… is Paul Hawkbane. Or maybe the real Paul actually died because of whoever this Xerxes was.

"So…" Frankie's eyes ran from left to right before setting his view towards the two. "What was my name again?"

"Paul Hawkbane." Istar answered in less than a second.

"Where did I come from?"

Nalia cleared her throat. "The Arcanum."

Frankie sighed. His head was hurting yet again. Everything was so confusing to him. He was lost.

"I know a professor from my school who can help you with your memory, if you want." Nalia kindly offered. "We'll have to go to Caravan to get to the world gate and into Wysteria."

Frankie thought about this deeply. If he accepts this offer, is there still a chance that he could go back to Earth if he wasn't already in Earth? Is there a chance that he'll be able to see his friends again and be the Frankie Harris his friends used to know?

"Yes. Let's."

Nalia almost jumped for joy. "Great! Let's get this settled then. Istar, you can stay here until Sultana gets back; she need to know everything about this. I'll escort Paul to the world gate."

"Fr—" Frankie was about to correct her. But he then realized that he never mentioned his real name. Maybe it was best not to as to not confuse them even further. That would get them to nowhere.

Nalia and Frankie… or Paul… exited the Sultana's house. Paul began to look around him. Everything looked as if he really was in the movie Aladdin. Or maybe he was just in a random city in the United Arab Emirates.

"This is Aggrobah. The most lively city you'll ever find here in Mirage." Nalia grinned as he introduced her homeland. "I guess you may have forgotten about this?"

Paul never forgot about it. He just saw it for the first time. Besides, he was Frankie. Not Paul.

They arrived towards to what looks like a magic carpet. It was tied up on a post as if it were a dog but it was actually floating.

"Hop on." Nalia motioned him as she untied the carpet.

"Wait is there anything to hold onto or something?" Paul asked. However, he was late as Nalia untied it and hop on the carpet with him. "Whoa, wait!"

"To Caravan!" Nalia cheered, grabbing the ends of the carpet as the carpet began to float higher midair. "Oh, and you can hold onto the sides."

"Okay— whoa whoa whoa WHOA WHOAAAAAAAAAAAA!" Paul screamed as the magic carpet dashed in midair towards its way to wherever Caravan was.

After what seemed like an hour, the carpet descended, until it stopped floating. He could feel Nalia getting out of the carpet and tying it onto another post.

"We're here!"

Paul opened his eyes after squeezing them shut and holding onto the carpet's edges for dear life for an hour. "Why did we even ride this… isn't there any vehicles around here or something?"

"Well here in Mirage, we use these carpets if we're in a hurry."

The now purple haired boy felt his head spinning in a million circles. "I think this'll be the first and last time I'm riding that."

Nalia chuckled at the remark. She led them into the caves that stood several feet off the ground. When they got to the top, there stood the world gate.

"We can get to Wysteria from here. You'll know it's Wysteria if there are fountains for an arch." She informed.

Paul looked dumbfounded.

"Well… you'll get what I mean. Let's go!" Nalia grinned as she grabbed his hand and entered the world gate, with him following him for behind.

Thud.

Paul could feel himself wanting to throw up. He was on the ground. His head spun for the third time today. He could hear the leaves of trees rustling and bustling. He could hear voices from teens his age.

But even though he only knew Nalia for about an hour of two, he didn't hear her cheery voice.

"Ugh… Nalia? Where's the fountain you were talking about…" he groaned, straining to get himself up.

Her voice didn't answer him. His vision was still blurry. The only answers he got was the sound of rustling leaves and the voice of an elderly man saying,

"Welcome to Ravenwood, young wizard!"
