A little boy with black hair was sitting next to a little girl with golden blonde hair. Both were childhood friends since their parents introduced themselves to each other. Of course, the black haired boy had another best friend named Trunks, but today, the little boy was with his other best friend. The little boy was actually eyeing something that the little girl was munching on as they watched one of those Disney movies. "You could always ask me for one, Goten," teased the girl.
"Demo, Usagi," said little Goten, "It wouldn't really be fair of me since I finished all of mine."
"Demo," said little Usagi, "I know you, Goten, especially when you told me that you were half…"
"Hai, hai," said Goten with a pout, "Sometimes, I wonder how it would be without a black hole for a stomach."
"You're silly, Goten," giggled Usagi, "Here! We'll share the Pocky together."
Goten was still a bit self-conscious about his appetite, but he knew that Usagi never held it against him. Of course, Usagi was the same way, but she knew how to eat a bit slower, even though she eats a lot. Usagi pouted a bit when Goten didn't take a Pocky from her bag before she did it and poked Goten with the Pocky stick. Goten blinked before giving a huge smile to Usagi, taking another Pocky stick and poking Usagi with it. Both of the children giggled as they continued to watch the Disney movie and munch on the chocolate Pocky sticks. It wasn't until there was only one more Pocky stick in the bag that the two stopped and stared at it. "You can have it, Usa," said Goten, "It's your Pocky bag."
"Īe," pouted Usagi, "You should have it before you fly back to your home for dinner. It can tidy you over until dinner time!"
"Īe," denied Goten, "You have it."
"Īe," said Usagi, "You."
"You," said Goten.
"You," said Usagi.
Both Goten and Usagi puffed out their cheeks in irritation. Usagi knew how Saiyajins were with their appetite and didn't want Goten to go hungry. Goten, on the other hand, wanted Usagi to enjoy her snack before her dinnertime. Both didn't want the other to go hungry before dinner time. It was then and there that Goten had a brilliant idea, for a little child. Usagi blinked in surprise when Goten started to grin instead of the usual pout he sported from before. "Usagi," said Goten.
"Hai," questioned Usagi warily.
"How about we SHARE the last Pocky stick," questioned Goten, "We can eat it at the same time too!"
"You sure you don't want the full one," questioned Usagi.
"I'm sure," said Goten, "This way; both of us won't go hungry."
"So," said Usagi slowly, "Like Lady and the Tramp?"
Goten looked at Usagi questioningly. He, however, turned back to the Disney movie they were watching once Usagi pointed back at the TV. There, on the screen, was Lady and the Tramp eating a plate of spaghetti together. Goten then looked at the last piece of Pocky before pulling it out of the bag. While holding one end towards his mouth, Goten held the other end towards Usagi's mouth. Usagi, on her part, blinked at what Goten did but shrugged her shoulders. It's not like something else was going to happen. Both children took each end and began to eat one piece at the same time. It didn't take long for them to reach the end of their snack, along with their little lips a bit smashed together afterwards. "Yum," said Goten, "Thanks for sharing the snack with me!"
"N-No problem," said Usagi who was trying to slow her heart down.
"You alright," questioned Goten.
"Never better," said Usagi, "Now, let's finish watching this movie!"
"Yeah," cheered Goten.
- A Couple Of Years Later –
"Let's play the Pocky game," exclaimed a bubbly blonde haired Minako.
Goten and Usagi, now in their teens, were at a party that was hosted by their mutual friend, Aino Minako. They could spot Goten's other best friend, Trunks, along with his girlfriend, Mai. There were the Inner Senshi and Tomoe Hotaru in attendance, along with Marron. There was also a bunch of guys and girls from their classroom as well. Upon hearing a game suggested by Minako, everyone nodded in agreement. Goten, on his part, was confused about this game. He never heard about a Pocky game, and Pocky was one of his favorite snacks. "What's the Pocky game," questioned Goten.
"You don't know what the Pocky game is," questioned an incredulous Kino Makoto.
"Īe," said Goten with a shake of his head, "That's why I asked."
"So," explains Hino Rei, "We all have to sit in a circle and spin an empty bottle. Whoever the bottle lands on, you and that person takes a stick of pocky and places it between the two. There, you and that person start to eat the Pocky, Lady and the Tramp style. The first person to break contact loses and has to do a punishment. If it ends in a kiss, then it's a tie and no punishment happens."
Goten blinked at the rules as he felt like this was somewhat familiar. Shrugging his shoulders, Goten sat out of the circle to just observe the game. He was surprised that Usagi was also observing the game, yet he wasn't that surprised because he knew Usagi. Usagi was the kind of girl who wants to save her first kiss for someone special. A game was not going to be special, Goten was sure of that. It wasn't long that Goten blinked in surprise by the familiarity of the so-called game. Goten could recall in his youth that he did something similar with Usagi as they watched a certain Disney movie. A sudden thought then entered his mind just as he watched a random guy classmate kiss the flirty Minako on the lips. "Usa," croaked out Goten.
"Goten," questioned Usagi.
"C-Can we talk," questioned Goten nervously.
"Sure," said Usagi in a questioning tone.
"Not here though," said Goten.
Usagi nodded her head as she got up from where she was sitting, which was next to Goten. Both Usagi and Goten quietly left the party with none of the guests for the wiser. Goten was happy that he and Usagi were alone, but how to question Usagi after witnessing the first so-called couple's kiss? He also didn't know if Usagi remembered them as kids doing the Pocky game, even though it was unknowingly. Goten bit his inner lip as he motioned for Usagi to come closer. Usagi, a bit wary, stepped into Goten's awkward embrace before gasping in surprise. "Goten," questioned Usagi.
"Need more privacy," said Goten, "Trunks could listen in."
"O-Okay," said Usagi.
Goten smiled down at Usagi as he adjusted his hold into a bridal style hold. He could feel Usagi's arms wrapping around his neck as he took flight towards his home, Mount Paozu. Hopefully, Usagi will forgive him for his childhood blunder.
- Mount Paozu: Near The River –
Goten flew down and set Usagi down gently. He looked around him to see the familiar forest and river that he grew up in. Of course, Usagi was also with him, which made the freedom from the party somewhat awkward. He really should hit his younger self for his blunder, which was really inexcusable. Though, he also didn't know about the Pocky game. Sighing inwardly, Goten plopped down on the grassy riverside and fell down onto his back. Usagi, on her part, was getting worried about Goten. It wasn't like him to be down like this. Goten was usually a ball of sunshine, even if he was a bit clueless on her growing feelings ever since that day. "Goten," questioned Usagi, "A-Are you alright?"
"Please tell me that I did not steal your first kiss when we were kids," said Goten muffled.
"You know," said Usagi, "It's hard to hear what you are saying when your arm is on your mouth."
"I said," said Goten who breathed in slowly, "Please tell me that I didn't steal your first kiss when we were kids."
"Eh," questioned Usagi, "What brought this on?"
"The Pocky game," said Goten.
Usagi blinked in surprise by the question as she thought about it. Thinking back on that day always made her flustered, but this was Goten who was worried he did something wrong. It was Usagi's duty to reassure Goten that what they shared as little kids was a big deal. Of course, she would have liked that they were a bit older when they did have their first kiss, but beggars can't be choosers. Usagi smiled to herself as she sat quite close to Goten and nudged him in the ribs. "You know," said Usagi, "Now that I think about it; that was probably our first kiss."
"Our," questioned Goten.
"Didn't you know," said Usagi whose heart was beating wildly, "That little kiss made me realize that I have a crush on you."
"Nani," questioned Goten, wide eyes unseeing.
"I know we were little kids," said Usagi "Demo, I really couldn't help my feelings back then. It was also kind of ironic that you even suggested something in the movie we were watching."
"No way are you into me," said Goten in denial, "I'm sure a beautiful girl like you can find someone much better. I mean, I'm not that bright and I tend to be silly. I can also eat you out of your home."
"Demo," argued Usagi, "You are honest and fun to be with. Even if you ate a lot, so what? I would eat out my own house's supply by how much I eat as well. Besides, you can't dictate what I feel for you."
"Demo," started Goten before he was interrupted.
Usagi couldn't really take how Goten was always down on himself. So, she did something that would shut Goten up. Once Goten opened his mouth, Usagi pounced on top of Goten and kissed him, no pocky involved whatsoever. She poured her own heart and soul into this kiss just to get her point across. Goten, on his part, was surprised by what Usagi was doing. He couldn't believe Usagi had enough courage to do what she is doing now. Goten slowly got into the kiss as he wrapped his arms around Usagi securely. Deepening the kiss was not something Goten would have imagined him doing in a million years. Since air was a thing, the both broke from the kiss and stared at each other intently. "You really like me," questioned Goten.
"Faults and all," said Usagi.
"Okay," said Goten.
"Okay," questioned Usagi.
"Hai," said Goten, "I… will try to not let my insecurities get the best of me if…"
"If," questioned Usagi.
"If," said Goten, "You become my kanojo."
"What exactly did you call me kissing you mean," teased Usagi.
"Well," said Goten, "I wanted to ask you properly, demo we are probably passed that since we kissed."
Usagi giggled at how goofy Goten was being before leaning down to give him another kiss. Goten, on his part, smirked inwardly. He finally got the girl of his dreams and all with a little bit of lying upon his self-esteem issues. Goten knew that he shouldn't have done that, but he realized when he was little and after that Pocky kiss he had with Usagi, Goten actually has genuine feelings for Usagi, just like when Usagi realized her feelings on that incident. He just didn't really know how to go about getting Usagi as his kanojo… until now. 'Thank you, Pocky stick,' thought Goten as he pulled Usagi closer to him.
- More Years Into The Future –
"You little," scowled Usagi.
Now married, Usagi and Goten lived somewhere in Satan City and away from Goten's overbearing kāsan. Don't get him wrong. He loves his kāsan, but she was more into Goten studying than finally landing himself a kanojo like Usagi. Goten and Usagi were once more sitting next to each other, a familiar Disney movie playing on the screen. Goten was glad that their daughter was with his tōsan as he brought Usagi close to his body. He, however, kind of admitted to tricking Usagi into confessing her feelings on that party day, leading to Usagi pulling away from him. "Now, Usa," said Goten sheepishly, "It worked out in the end."
"And what happened if it didn't," questioned Usagi, "I poured out my heart and soul to you."
"And I'm glad," said Goten, "To confess, I did that because I wasn't ready for you to reject me. Hai, I was genuinely afraid that you remembered the kiss and deck me once we found out what the Pocky game was. Demo, that's also why I flew you towards my home for privacy. I didn't want anyone to hear you yell at me."
"Now," said Usagi, "I am about to yell at you."
"Which I kind of regret," muttered Goten.
Usagi crossed her arms and pouted where she sat. She should have known how mischievous Goten was still at that age. Though, she couldn't complain about the kisses they shared at the beautiful river bank and the kisses after they became a couple. Goten, on his part, pouted at how he ousted himself. Looking at their snacks on the table in front of the screen, he spotted the familiar package of one particular snack and smirked. Goten looked at his wife before he quickly grabbed the particular snack. Taking a chocolate stick out of the bag, Goten poked Usagi in the cheek with it. "Please don't be angry with me," said Goten.
"Are you poking me with a Pocky stick," questioned Usagi.
"Well, this relationship started with a Pocky stick," said Goten.
"You goof," giggled Usagi, "Fine. I'm not angry anymore. Too in love with you to be angry."
"Love you too, wifey," said Goten cheekily, "Now, shall we finish this movie with this snack?"
"Like when we were little kids," questioned Usagi.
Goten smiled as he placed the Pocky stick that was in his hand into Usagi's mouth. Usagi, on her part, did the same before both succumbed to watching the movie once more and eating Pocky. However, it ended the same way all those years ago… one more Pocky stick while the movie was still playing. Usagi and Goten started at the innocent Pocky stick before looking at each other. Usagi took the last Pocky stick out of the bag and held it between Goten and her. She smiled as she stuck one end of the Pocky into Goten's mouth before placing her mouth over the other end. Goten quirked his eyebrows together as Usagi stared into his black eyes with amusement. It was then that the two did their so-called Pocky game, leading to the two kissing each other with love. "Happy anniversary, love," said Goten.
"Happy anniversary to you too," said Usagi before saying, "And who knew that our anniversary also falls on Pocky Day."
"Yeah," said Goten lovingly before… "Wait. There's a Pocky Day?!"
"Oh, Goten," giggled Usagi.
HAPPY POCKY DAY EVERYONE! 🍫🍫🍫🍫🍫
