DenIndo: True Fear
Gesang yelped and Mathias chuckled. They were watching a horror movie, and the Indonesian wasn't handling it very well. Gesang turned to Mathias with a glare.
"How can you enjoy this?" Gesang snapped. "This movie… What is so entertaining about being scared to death?"
"It's just a little ghost story," Mathias said. "No worries."
"No worries? This… I've never been this scared in my life!"
"Please. This isn't fear."
"Oh yeah? Then what would you call true fear?"
"Walking with crutches after it snowed with a broken leg."
Gesang paused. It had snowed a month ago, and the Indonesian had enjoyed it, until he realised how slippery it was and had fallen a few times. Gesang sighed and leaned back.
"Next movie, we're watching a comedy," Gesang said.
Mathias chuckled. He suspected that a realistic fear had eased the fears triggered by the movie for the Indonesian.
I sprained my ankle really bad a few years ago while I was in France, and I think the ligament was torn. I think it was my first day back to work, and it had snowed. I realised how slippery snow that had seen a bit of foot traffic would be, and that was the most terrified I've been in my entire life.
