Slayers Omake 3
Last time in Slayers Omake:
Doom and Goblin Slayer have been turned into toys by an egg shaped creature, and the only way for them to get back to normal is to destroy it. But the Egg teleports once a week, and they only have 20 hours left.
Now that the 'Nest Egg' has been localized, all that was left to do was to reach it and destroy it. The only problem was that the place where the egg was spotted is at least a nineteen hour walk non-stopping from where they were and they only had twenty hours!
And since the Doom Slayer was now a toy, the party couldn't depend on him to bring them in a few hours by cart. He still tried though and they were surprised that he still managed to pull the cart with the whole party on it, but he was way too slow.
"... I hate being a toy." The toy man pouted in the arms of the High Elf Archer.
"There there." Priestess and the mini Goblin Slayer in her arms said at the same time.
"But in all seriousness… We're in quite a trouble." Lizard Priest started, "I don't believe we can all walk for nineteen hours straight. We need transportation."
"We asked the guild but no luck. All chariots are reserved and most of them have already left." The Dwarf Shaman said while stroking his beard, eyes closed and looking thoughtful, "We could go there and ask the adventurer parties who haven't left yet to give us a ride but who knows how long we will have to wait or how much it would cost."
"I can pay." Doom Slayer tried to reassure while raising one of his tiny toy arms.
"But… I thought your money disappeared when you got turned into… That." High Elf Archer asked with one eyebrow raised.
"... I really hate being a toy."
Before they could start to brainstorm an idea, someone whistled for their attention, they all turned to the source and were surprised to see Spearman standing there, dressed in his usual blue armor and armed with his spear.
"I hear that you're in quite the pickle! I should let you know that I am one of the adventurers who reserved one of the chariots, ready to leave too!"
"Name your price. Now!" Doom Slayer exclaimed, his patience already vanished, as he aimed at his chest with his small shotgun.
"Yes! We have no time to waste!" Goblin Slayer followed, brandishing his tiny sword towards the Silver Rank Adventurer.
"Wow wow! Calm down! I was going to let you hitch a ride in one condition!" Spearman laughed as he raised his hands, amused by the talking toys.
"Talk."
"We go on a quest, you and me, Doom Slayer! We take the hardest one we see on the board and we clear it as fast as possible!"
"Sure sure sure. Now where's the ride! I want a ride!"
"Me too! Me too!" the other slayer exclaimed excitedly, making Priestess try to calm him down by shaking him slowly up and down as if he was a newborn.
"They sound like spoiled children when they are like this. It's getting unbearable." High Elf Archer sighed.
Dwarf Shaman was about to retort with some insult but a slap from Lizard Priest's tail on the back of his head stopped him. They had no time to waste.
"Alright! It's a deal! Follow me, my partner is already with the rider." Spearman smiled brightly as he waved at the party to follow them.
"'Too many people,' he said… 'Too heavy', he said… Now what?" Spearman said dejectedly, his face in his hands, while sitting on a bench.
"All. your. Fault." The Witch smirked in amusement.
The rider's cart wasn't big enough for six people so there was no choice but to leave Spearman's party behind and go full speed ahead to the quest's location.
"Grrr… Let's make it two extra hard quests then." The man in blue armor grumbled.
Thanks to the rider and a very determined horse, they still couldn't believe how fast and strong it was, that man deserved his five star review, they reached the egg's estimated location with one hour to spare.
The place where the egg should be was inside some sort of abandoned wooden cabin deep into the woods. Unfortunately, reaching the place took thirty minutes.
Needless to say, they were in a rush.
They barely registered the strange compositions of the 'guards' as they rushed and crashed inside the structure with Lizard Priest and a Dragoontooth Warrior as the vanguard, cutting everything on their way.
"I think that wolf you just cut in half was made of teeth, Scaly." Dwarf Shaman remarked as he looked behind to see the two 'guards' being two wolves
One was made of actual teeth and the other of what looked like a mass of small pillows.
Before anyone could comment on that, a loud shriek stopped them on their tracks forcing them to cover their ears, which prompted Priestess and High Elf Archer to drop the two miniaturized Slayers on the ground.
"Oof!"
"Hmf!"
"What the heck was that?!" High Elf Archer screamed, her sensitive hearing starting to hurt her deeply.
"I got it!" Doom Slayer said as he aimed his tiny rifle towards the source of the shriek and fired his weapon.
As soon as he fired his shot, the sound stopped and the culprit ran away.
"Huh… It was a monkey… Made of thousands little monkeys." Doom Slayer said.
"Wh-What?"
But there was no time to be confused by the insane results of the Nest egg. Another insanity was on its way, and it was in the form of an army of very small creatures of different materials like wood, plastic and clay. And it didn't take long for anyone to guess what the altered monsters' original forms were.
"Goblins! Mine mine mine!" Goblin Slayer exclaimed excitedly, brandishing his sword up high and already ready to fight.
"No demons? Boo!" The green toy booed.
Unfortunately for him, it was the Dragontooth warrior who did the job by itself. As toys, the goblins were extremely weak despite their very large numbers. While the skeleton warrior was committing little goblin genocide, the party was looking everywhere around the cabin for the egg.
"Guys! Over here!" the green haired elf shouted for her friends to come to her location.
She had discovered a trap door leading to the basement. The only place that hasn't been checked on.
Everyone nodded to each other, ready to go down and face whatever was in there. They only had twenty minutes left.
Whoever used to live in this place was definitely up to no good. The basement was a chapel dedicated to some Dark God. But it wasn't all bad! Good news was that the Egg was there. The bad news was that it was guarded by two altered creatures that looked like actual real threats compared to the rest upstairs.
One was a giant Gargoyle made of mud or some other substance, big horns and big wings despite the frail looks of the rest of the limbs.
The other though was very peculiar. It was humanoid but looked to be made of the same material as Doom Slayer actually.
'An action figure' he called himself before, whatever that was.
The muscular torso was bright yellow while the legs were red, blue and green for each junction. Then there was a very noticeable giant right and very muscular red arm, a big contrast to the left arm that was very scruny, almost looking like an actual human arm. There was also a big red winding key on its back. And finally there was its head: some sort of bucket looking head with bleeding eyes painted on it and a red pin skewering it.
A very, very bizarre creature, not a single trace of what it was before. Maybe it was the owner of the cabin? Who knows.
But it didn't matter in the end as they won't have the time to ponder on the bizarre appearance of the creature, because the egg noticed them and its guard too.
It was time to fight.
Priestess immediately set up a Protection wall to protect the small Slayers and Herself out of danger when the two guards charged at them. Dwarf Shaman and Lizard Priest did the same towards them.
"We have to clear the path quickly! Time is running out!" High Elf Archer exclaimed and fired an arrow towards the Giant Toy-Man thing's head, only to see the projectile bounce off the bucket head, "Dangit!"
In a matter of minutes, the Party was already put in a corner: the Giant Toy-Man thing could withstand Lizard's Priest's blow and cuts and the Mud Gargoyle was not affected by the Dwarf Shaman's ax and Magic by opening itself up and dodging effectively.
"Damnit! We're wasting time, Long Ears!" he complained!
"Not my fault! The moment I approach the egg your opponents focus back on me! And my arrows can't do anything to it!" she yelled back.
"We need a solution! I would suggest retreating but it's not an option. We need to destroy the egg before it flees again!" Lizard Priest said as he used both hands to stop the big red fist of the Giant Toy-Man thing from crushing his skull.
"I know! Throw us to the egg." Goblin Slayer suddenly said while poking at the elf's leg.
"Wh-What? Orcblog! You can't destroy it with your tiny fists!"
"But maybe I can punch it!" Doom Slayer exclaimed as he stood next to his fellow tiny Slayer.
"But what if it flashes its weird light?! We don't know what will happen!"
"Can it be any worse than our current situation?" Goblin Slayer pointed at their two friends having trouble fighting the guards.
The archer looked at the youngest member of the party for some assistance but all Priestess did was shrug with a small smile, she trusted the Slayers' judgment.
"Alright fine! Get on!" she exclaimed as she brandished an arrow towards the two small men.
They climbed on the thin projectile and rode it like witches on a broomstick.
"Ready?" Goblin Slayer asked his green armored friend.
"Ready." Doom Slayer responded.
"Wow, so light... We're counting on you!" she said before firing the arrow.
The arrow flew straight towards the Egg, as they approached it, the same crack in the form of a big smile appeared on the surface. It was reacting to their proximity, perfect. The two Slayers jumped from the stick, straight towards the light.
Then a flash, and a shockwave, silencing and stopping all action in the room except for the two Slayers being sent flying through the wooden walls at the opposite side of the chapel.
"Goblin Slayer! Doom Slayer!" Priestess shouted in worry.
All eyes were on the two small holes in the wall.
Then, all of a sudden, everyone became paralyzed in fear from the presence they could feel from the other side.
A pale hand with black as coal sharp nails emerged from one of the holes, gripping the edge of the gap. Then another. The wood started to crack as whatever it was in the darkness was prying the hole wider, so it could come through. And when it did, everyone thought that their last moments on this plane had arrived.
The monster that came out was wearing black futuristic armor with only the muscular belly, biceps and fingers exposed, along the lipless, lower part of the monster's face that had cheeks so hollow it seemed there wasn't any. Its upper part was covered in a devil-horned helmet with a strange green trident symbol in the center. On its left shoulder was a small cannon and on its left armored wrist was a hidden blade.
No one dared to say a word, they just kept staring at the imposing and terrifying figure with wide eyes.
Then another hand emerged from the darkness, gripping the edge of the giant hole on the wall, this time a black hand. A red flame could be seen in the obscurity and with a roar, something in a distorted dirty armor and a freaky, defigured helmet with broken horns pulled itself out from the darkness.
For that one, the party recognized the creature immediately: it was Goblin Slayer.
But he looked… deformed, like a monster, the helmet was moving like a mouth, the fur from his armor looked like a mane and his usual short sword was now thinner and crooked at some parts. Despite not looking or acting like one, everyone could see that he looked like some sort of tall, strange looking goblin.
But then that would mean that the other creature that appeared was… Doom Slayer?!
The two altered Slayers were as intimidating as they looked terrifying.
"A goblin and a demon…" Priestess whispered with a gasp, so low that no one could hear her.
"The egg… Destroy the egg…" the Monstrous Goblin Slayer growled with a low, crazy sounding voice.
"Hrrn…" Was all the Demonic Doom Slayer said with a small, quick nod.
At hearing their ill intents towards the Egg. The two guards snapped out of their paralyzing fear and rushed towards the duo.
The Giant Toy-Man thing was the first to reach them and swung its giant red arm towards the Demonic looking Slayer who just easily blocked the blow with one hand and didn't let go. And before the toy monster could do anything, the smaller Monstrous looking Slayer was already on its shoulder with his sword raised before stabbing under the bucket helmet, right through the neck.
Blood spurted out from the space between the bucket and the yellow body, which meant that there was something alive and bleeding underneath that thing, and if it bled, it could die.
And so, the altered Goblin Slayer stabbed over and over again under the bucket helmet until eventually the monster stopped moving. And yet, he didn't stop stabbing, he kept going and going until he was able to rip the head off that monster toy thing.
Now with the head detached, the now black armored slayer let go of the Giant Toy-Man thing's arm and let it crumble to the floor, dead as a stone. Blood spread throughout the floor.
The two Slayers stared at their handiwork before turning their heads towards the last guardian who jolted in fright. But the Mud Gargoyle wasn't baking down! It rushed towards the altered Doom Slayer who raised his foot to kick the monster, but like with the Dwarf Shaman earlier, the monster made of mud easily dodged the attack.
That was until the small cannon on the Slayer's shoulder came to life, aimed at the mud monster and fired a projectile at its feet. The moment the white round object hit the ground, a burst of freezing air blasted from the impact and froze the Mud Gargoyle solid where it was, turning it now into an Ice Gargoyle.
If he could, Doom Slayer would have grinned darkly as he raised his foot once again and this time, kicked the hard surface hard enough to shatter the last guardian to millions pieces.
And once again, the two Slayers stared at the remains of their second victim with unseen glee.
If the egg had a face and feelings, it would be shitting itself right about now. The same could be said about the Adventurers Party who didn't say a word and just stared with wide, frightened eyes at the whole show in front of them. Not daring to say anything, in fear of attracting their attention to them. Who knows what would happen.
"The egg…" the Monstrous Goblin Slayer growled again.
The Demonic Doom Slayer nodded once before pulling his super shotgun and aimed at the egg in question then fired his weapon but it was a meathook attached to the weapon by a chain that flew off and grabbed on to the target of this quest.
The chain pulled the Slayer towards the egg at high speed but the latter was already preparing to 'flash a smile' on the altered man.
Thankfully the Monstrous Goblin Slayer was fast to react by throwing his shield like a frisbee at the Nest egg, making it tilt upward enough that the beam of light missed the other Slayer approaching quickly.
But just as the Demonic Slayer was about to fire his weapon at point blank, something big crashed from above between the two of them, forcing the meat hook to un-attach itself from the surface of the egg.
The newcomer looked like some sort of mammal and insectoid mix. Like a centipede with fur but with some exoskeleton armor on some parts. The creature's upper body was humanoid and when it turned towards the altered Doom Slayer, the latter saw a canine head but with mandibles for a lower jaw. It was gross. Especially when it roared and crawled on the floor at high speed towards the 'man' in black armor and tackled him.
The creature tried to throw the Slayer on the floor but after barely a few feet away from the tackle impact, they were stuck. The Demonic Slayer stood his ground, snapped out of his surprise at seeing the new creature and had his hands gripping forcefully and painfully at the monster's wrists. The altered centipede tried to pry its arms away but struggled and cried in pain. It was about to try and bite the face off of the Slayer but was interrupted mid-roar when the cannon on the armored 'man''s shoulder pointed at the monster's head.
Then, all of a sudden, a very short burst of flames came out of the shoulder cannon, not very long, almost half a second. And it was enough to engulf the head of the monster in flames as it screamed in agony. It screeched and thrashed, trying to break free from the Slayer's grasp but in vain. The flames died out on their own and it finally stopped screaming in respite… but just for a second.
A new agonizing pain appeared on the centipede monster's long lower back. It looked over its shoulder to see the Monstrous Goblin Slayer standing on the flat back of the monster, his blade halfway through it.
He then started running up the centipede's back with his hand still gripping tightly the handle of his sword, making the blade cut the monster's back open, all while the creature shrieked in pain through its burned mouth. When he reached the shoulders, Goblin Slayer jumped off and finally pulled his sword away, leaving the altered centipede with a gnarly cut wound that went from its shoulders aaaaaall the way down its back.
The monster barely had any strength left to whine in pain, it was pitiful. The two Slayers started to laugh in mockery at the miserable creature, louder and louder, more and more maniacally. Non stop until the centipede died from its wound.
The Demonic Slayer threw the fresh corpse to the side and started walking towards the egg again.
The floating egg started to 'flash another smile' but got interrupted when a blade stabbed through the opening.
"I knew it… Looks like the best time to strike is when you expose your insides with that 'smile' of yours." Goblin Slayer analyzed out loud, "Time to finish this." He added with a certain malice as he twisted the blade, cracks started to form on the egg's surface with each twist.
There was only a few seconds left before it could teleport to safety. But that safety will never come as the altered Doom Slayer was now standing in front of the egg, he raised his left fist and the blade extended itself from his wrist. Then with a quick motion, he stabbed the smiling 'mouth' of the egg and started to twist his blade inside, like his fellow Slayer.
The cracks extended through the egg's rocky shell, rays of light slipping through them, and when the whole 'body' was cracked enough, it exploded and engulfed everyone in the room in its light.
That night, the Party was partying their victory at the Guild's tavern but the two Slayers, having regained their original forms, were very silent and had their heads bowing down the whole time in a depressed way.
"Man! Am I glad this is over and done! I hope we'll never get to see the two of you like that again!" High Elf Archer, already drunk, exclaimed while wrapping her arms around both Slayers' shoulders, "I'm more than certain that I'll have nightmares!"
"That was… quite the terror show." Lizard Priest added before devouring some cheesy meat.
"..." Neither man in armor dared to say.
They both turned into what they hated the most and could still remember everything that happened. And it wasn't helping with the party reminding them about how terrifying they were, not even Priestess' attempts to console them was working.
And yet, they didn't need to be consoled. Yes, they were pretty embarrassed about what happened but there was something else. Something that rekindles an already blazing flame inside those two men: Determination.
They both got to experience what would be their 'worst case scenario' first hand.
For Goblin Slayer, he already had an idea on what a goblin with his training would look like after stealing his armor if he ever died by their hands. But experiencing himself as the goblin made the image much, much clearer. That must never happen.
And for Doom Slayer it was the same. He knew that if demons manage to end his life, his soul will be recycled into a new kind of Warrior of Hell. He always wondered what it would look like, now he knew and he hated it. He now knew that he must never die by their hand.
But he was also intrigued on why this demonic form had his Lucifer Bane, and what was with the wrist blade and flamethrower/Ice Grenade Launcher? He's been thinking lately to extend his arsenal but those are things he didn't think about before. He should keep this new weaponry in mind whenever he gets the chance to upgrade his armor.
In any case, both Slayers looked at each other, no words were needed as they both knew what the other was thinking. Their work was nowhere near done and it will not be before a very, very long time.
Slayers Omake: The End
Baka's notes: Hi hi, sorry that this update of Slayers isn't the main story. Having a bit of trouble on how to start that big battle to be honest. Plus there's only like, what? 3-4 chapters left for Slayers? In any case, I hope you liked this final Slayers Omake chapter!
My next update will be Despair in Lobotomy, then it will be either Spider Hope or Zombi Mari.
See you soon!
