"You've got this." Higata felt a little silly being reassuring when the one injured is someone so strong and admirable, like he somehow didn't measure up in some way.
And her hand is in his as she hobbles a little to get to the chair and sit down.
"I know." Her teeth are gritted, but there's still a faint smile on her face. She may hurt; she may have been where a pharmacist shouldn't be, but she's still grateful and strong and trying to push through.
"Just sit." Higata smiles; it's odd to think that they both started here right around the same time, and that where Garack trained and prepared him, Ryuu trained and prepared Shirayuki. And all of this time after has flown by.
"Thank you." Shirayuki relaxes her jaw, and smiles. The pain must not be as bad now that she isn't trying to move.
And Higata sets to work, cleaning her wounds that had reopened a little in the process of getting her to a place to sit down, however short that was. And rebandaging her.
"She'll be fine, right?" Obi's leaning against a wall, and when Higata looks up, Obi's golden eyes are creased in worry. It's odd to see someone so good at hiding his feelings look so vulnerable.
"She will be." He told him, firmly, falling into working pharmacist mode, "And you didn't fail her, Obi."
He has to be firm, though polite, when people come to him with others that are wounded. If Higata could have, he would have carried Shirayuki over here, but he's never been super athletic and also didn't know if Obi lifting her would have caused more harm than did good.
"I'm her guard." Obi is just as firm, and Higata takes a deep breath as he goes through the process of checking for broken bones.
"Obi, I'll be fine." Shirayuki looks over, and Higata hopes that the reassurance in her eyes calms Obi down. Higata knows he's not threatened, just also knows he doesn't want the guilt to eat Obi alive and give Higata another patient to grace this chair.
When she winces, Higata knows where to put a cast.
"Are you sure?" And Obi's right over, but he looks more gentle now, even though Higata can still see the stiffness in the other's shoulders and the lack of comfort across his face.
"It's probably a cracked rib, I'll be fine." Shirayuki tries again, reaching a hand out to lay it on Obi's shoulder.
And Higata smiles a little as he gets it ready; Shirayuki is also a pharmacist. She'll be fine, and Obi will probably listen to her better because he knows her more.
All Higata has to do is make sure Shirayuki gets treated quickly enough that she'll be able to recover quickly now that she's seen a proper pharmacist or more accurately one with the supplies, time, and experience to help her through this. Even though that's a little bit of an odd explanation, when he feels both like he's done this forever and like he's barely began.
But Garack's not in the office at the moment, and Ryuu's elsewhere. And Higata is more than capable of taking care of her, even if that's a little surreal too.
