A\N: This is chapter 2 of Nightmares. I hope Angels enjoyed chapter 1. In this chapter Monique will get Caleb to talk about his nightmares whether he wants to or not. I hope you enjoy this, Angels.
Caleb Wick enters Monique's office where his lover is waiting for him. It's been a week since he had snuck out of her room at four in the morning and had spent the week avoiding her like the plague. He walks over to the chairs that are in front of her desk and sits in one of them. He stares at his lover through tired green eyes, watches as she works, not acknowledging him until she's ready for him to be acknowledged. He lets his green eyes settle on her face.
Her pretty face is etched into a frown, her blonde ponytailed hair spilling over her shoulder, her blue eyes have light circles underneath them, her blue eyes are on the paperwork on her desk, reading over the words before signing her name at the bottom of the page. He waits and watches as she puts down her pen, lifts her head and looks at him, her eyes narrowing slightly. "You look tired, Monique." He says softly. Monique scoffs softly and rolls her eyes. "You're one to talk." She says as she looks at him. Caleb sighs and looks down at his hands on his lap. "What does that mean?" He snaps. He knows what it means but he just wants to hear her say it.
"You're exhausted, Caleb, and you look like you've not eaten. You know the rules!" Monique tells him sharply. Caleb rolls his eyes. "I don't see why what I do is any concern of yours." He mutters to her. Her hand coming down on her desk has him looking directly into her blue eyes. They're clouded with anger and concern. "I'm your Director first and foremost. Everything about you is my concern, including your nightmares which you've so blatantly hidden from me." Caleb's green eyes widen.
How does she know about my nightmares? He asks himself. He thought he had hidden from her. Monique's forehead moulds into a frown. "Yes, I knew about your nightmares from the get go." She tells him. "How?" He asks her. Monique scoffs and rolls her eyes. "We slept in the same bed, Caleb, you really think I wouldn't hear your screams?" She asks him. When he doesn't respond, Monique continues. "You snuck out of my bedroom at four in the morning, thinking I wouldn't notice until I woke up, but guess what? I was awake when you left. I kept hoping I'd hear the door open and you'd come back into bed but you never did, you've not been in my bed for a week and a half, and I'm so sick of you pushing me away when you get nightmares. You won't talk to me about your nightmares and that ends right now." She says sternly, the 'don't try arguing with me because it won't work' tone clear in her voice. Caleb sighs as he glares at her, knowing it's useless to argue with her about this. "Fine." He grounds out between clenched teeth.
Monique watches as Caleb eats half of her fries. She's been worried about him this last week, she knows that he's reluctant to tell her about his terrifying nightmares but he needs to if he wants to get some uninterrupted sleep. Just as Monique opens her mouth to ask him a question, Caleb starts talking.
"The nightmares are set in Iraq with my Dad and after I watch him die, I'm transported here where I find your body. You're dead too. You're both dead and I can't do a damn thing about it. I lose the two most important people in my life on the same day. In my dreams I lose you, so in reality I shut you out and push you away so I don't lose you, and I know that's selfish of me, but it is what it is." Caleb explains to her with tears shining in his green eyes. Monique looks at her lover and sighs. "Okay, are they causing you to lose your appetite?" She asks him, looking at the empty boxes of fries. She hears him sigh. "I see you in a pool of blood and it makes me feel so sick that I can't eat." Monique gets up from her chair and sits next to him, wrapping her arm around her lover's shoulders. "Oh, Caleb." She says quietly as Caleb lays his head on her shoulder.
"I'm so tired." He says around a yawn. Monique allows a smile grace her lips. "Go to sleep, Caleb, I'll be here when you wake up." She coaxes him. Caleb nods before he lifts his head from her shoulder and lies down on the couch, his eyes closing and falling into a deep slumber instantly. Monique covers her young and sleeping lover with a blanket she keeps in the cupboard.
"Sweet dreams, Caleb." She whispers to him, kissing his forehead and returning back to work. She hopes his nightmares never return.
A\N: I'm so bad at multi-chapter stories, I'm sorry this took me ages to update and complete. For now, I'm going to oneshots. Enjoy, Angels.
