Now we arrive in Doc's Garage.
And I'm back from vacation! St. Jospeh was fun for the third time but the lake was FREEZING! Still had a nice time.
Enjoy!
Emmett Brown's Garage:
Various clocks were ticking around the garage at 7:53. The radio played near the unkept bed..
"October is inventory time. So right now, Statler Toyota is making the best deals of the year on all 1985 model Toyotas. You won't find a better car with a better price with better service anywhere in Hill Valley…"
A coffee maker with a built-in timer turned on… without the coffee pot. Boiled coffee dripped onto a hot plate.
A TV was left on as it changed to a news broadcast. A female blonde-haired reporter was seen with a sign appearing beside her that read "PLUTONIUM THEFT?"
"The Senate is expected to vote on this today. In other news, officials at the Pacific Nuclear research facility have denied the rumor that a case of missing plutonium was, in fact, stolen from their vault two weeks ago. A Libyan terrorist group had claimed responsibility for the alleged theft. However, officials now attribute the discrepancy to a simple clerical error. The FBI, which is investigating the matter, had no comment. Twelve wooden crates filled with cocaine washed ashore near Boca Raton, Florida, yesterday." said the reporter.
A toaster, attached to a timer, popped out two pieces of black toast. As the timer clicked on, the ashen toast dropped into the toaster...again.
On the floor, a timer clicked on an electric can opener with an empty can of dog food. The empty can went around and dumped its contents into a dog dish labeled ''Einstein", already full of dog food. The device then dropped the can into the waste basket already full of empty cans.
At that moment, the door opened. Sora, Riku, Kairi, Mickey, Donald, and Goofy followed Marty to the Doc's home after he put a spare key back under a mat.
The six world-travelers looked around in awe at the sight. It was a nice lab-like-shed with two beds, a bathroom, a jukebox, several tables with dozens of inventions, and most noticeably, dozens of clocks all ticking at the same time.
"Gosh, what a lab!" exclaimed Mickey.
"Reminds me of my uncle's lab and Gyro and Fenton's lab." remarked Donald.
"I've never seen so many inventions." said Sora looking around the lab.
"Or clocks." added Riku.
"Gawrsh, why does Dr. Brown have so many clocks?" asked Goofy.
"You got me." said Marty. He began to walk around. "Doc! You home? Einstein, here boy!" called Marty, whistling for the dog. As he looked, he almost stepped in Einstein's dog food. "Ugh. Jesus, disgusting…" he muttered. Marty dropped his skateboard onto the floor and rolls it ... under the army cot, coming to rest against a yellow case with purple radioactivity symbols, stamped "PLUTONIUM. HANDLE WITH CARE."
"What kind of dog food is that?" asked Donald in disgust.
"Apparently canned." answered Goofy, looking inside a recycling bin.
"Should we be looking around even though your friend isn't home?" asked Kairi.
"Oh Doc doesn't mind." said Marty. "I'm allowed to come in here any time."
"When did you meet Dr. Brown?" asked Donald.
Marty thought. "Let's see… uh, about 3-4 years ago." he replied. "Snuck into his laboratory. I wanted to see his cool inventions. Seeing that I wasn't some rekluse, he gave me a part-time job to look after the lab, as his lab assistant and feed his dog Einstein."
"So you're interested in science?" asked Mickey.
"Nah I'm more interested in music." Marty replied. "Got my own band and everything."
"Own band huh?" Riku mused. "Whaddya guys called?"
"The Pinheads." Marty replied. "We're gonna make it big after high school."
"Let's hope you do." said Sora. The spiky-haired teen then noticed some newspaper clippings. "'Brown Mansion Destroyed'?" he said in surprise.
That caught everyone's attention.
"Wait, Doc lived in a mansion like my Uncle Scrooge?" Donald asked.
"Yeah." said Marty, approaching the newspaper. "According to Doc, it burned down in 1962. It was sold to land developers. Doc lives here now since it's a separate building."
"That is pretty smart and resourceful." said Mickey.
"Such a shame. I really wanted to see that mansion." Donald muttered.
Goofy looked out the window. "Well you can see it's burned up remains." he quipped, causing Donald to roll his eyes.
Riku noticed what appeared to be a giant speaker. "Say Marty, what's that?" he called to the Hill Valley resident.
"Oh, that's the Doc's new sound amplifier. He hasn't tested it yet." replied Marty. He glanced over to a guitar and got an idea.
He grabbed it, plugged it into the system and began setting the dials. The world-travelers watched nervously as he turned on every switch, dial, and button to maximum.
"Are you sure you want to do that?" asked Kairi, nervously.
"Might as well." replied Marty simply. He then strummed his guitar, creating a loud blast from the amplifier sending the seven flying into a bookshelf. They landed squished in a chair, only to be hit by the shelf falling over, papers and boxes falling everywhere.
They all revealed themselves from the pile to see a destroyed amplifier.
"Whoa. Rock-in-roll." remarked Marty.
"Wow that was loud!" exclaimed Sora.
"And powerful." said Riku, rubbing his head.
"What an invention…" commented Kairi.
"Nice job you big palooka, you destroyed it!" said Donald crossly.
"Take it easy Donald." defended Mickey.
"Gwarsh, what a blast." remarked Goofy. Everyone, even Donald, couldn't help but laugh.
Suddenly, they all heard a telephone ring. They searched under the mess until Marty finally found and answered it.
"Hello?" he asked.
"Marty, is that you?" came a voice.
"Doc! Yeah it's me. Where are you? Where have you been this past week? And where's Einstein?" Marty asked his friend, while the others listened in.
"Einstein's here with me. I'll explain everything later. Anyways I called my lab to see if you're there. First off, don't touch the sound amplifier, it's still in the testing stage and may go horribly wrong, even on a minor chord." said the Doc.
The seven looked back at the destroyed amplifier as a piece fell off. Sora, Riku, Kairi, Mickey, Donald, and Goofy looked at Marty with deadpanned expressions and Marty smiled sheepishly.
"I'll keep that in mind." he replied, a little embarrassed.
"Anyways, the reason why I've been gone for a week will be revealed tonight. I want you to meet me at The Twin Pines Mall at 1:15 a.m. and tell nobody!" they heard the Doc say.
"1:15 in the morning got it. Oh and by the way Doc, there are some friends of mine here. And they've been dealing with those little black creatures who are called Heartless for a long time, longer than we have. Can they come too? I know they'd be intrigued with your invention as well as defend us from the monsters if they attack again." replied Marty.
"Really? Who are they?" questioned Doc.
"They're Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and Goofy, along with some human teenage friends of theirs named Sora, Riku, and Kairi. I know it seems weird that the first 3 are real, but they are. Believe me Doc. And they are awesome in battle against the Heartless." he added, turning to the others. Sora, Riku, Kairi, Mickey, Donald, and Goofy all blushed at the praise.
"It's true!" they all called to the Doc.
"Considering I just heard Mickey, Donald, and Goofy in that crowded reply, I guess you are telling the truth. Very well, you can bring them along. But aside from them, TELL NO ONE ELSE!" he replied.
"Don't worry, we won't." called Sora.
"You have our word as Keyblade Wielders, Defenders of Light!" Sora declared as his friends looked at him in amusement.
Suddenly, every single clock in the lab started ringing, making the seven cover their ears.
"Gawrsh!" shouted Goofy.
"Jesus Christ!" shouted Sora.
"What the hell?!" shouted Riku.
"Are those my clocks?" asked the Doc.
"Yep! And they all say 8:00!" called Goofy.
"Great Scott! My experiment worked! All of my clocks are 25 minutes slow!" exclaimed the Doc.
"Wait a minute, Doc! Are you telling me it's 8:25?!" exclaimed Marty.
"Precisely!"
"Dang! I'm late for school!" exclaimed Marty.
Marty handed the phone to Sora before picking up his skateboard and skated to school, but not before catching a the back of a truck and holding on to it as it drove in the direction of his school. The six watched him go.
"Gwarsh. Hope he makes it." was all Goofy could say.
"Some experiment." muttered Donald.
"Now what?" asked Sora as they re-entered the building.
"Might as well clean up." suggested Mickey, picking up some newspapers.
The other looked at each other, shrugged, and started to clean up the lab.
It was later into the afternoon as the family wandered the streets of Hill Valley after dealing with some Heartless. They soon encountered Marty walking with a girl wearing a white long-sleeved shirt, a blue collared button-up vest, pinkish purple pants, a pink belt, a white wristwatch on her left hand, and white shoes.
"A-hyuck! Hey Marty!" called Goofy as he and others strode up to him and the girl.
"Oh hey guys! This is my girlfriend, Jennifer Parker. Jennifer, this is Sora, Riku, Kairi, Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and Goofy." said Marty gesturing to his new friends who waved when Marty said their names.
"Wow, you weren't kidding when you told me about them." Jennifer said in surprise. "It's nice to meet you all."
"Likewise." smiled Kairi.
"So did you guys make it to school on time? asked Sora.
"No, our harsh principal caught us sneaking in. Principal Strickland gave me my fourth tardy, and Jennifer a tardy for trying to sneak me in." said Marty, irritated.
"Gosh, sorry to hear that." said Mickey, sympathetically.
"Strickland lives up to his name. Claims Marty is a slacker just like his dad. Says being around the Doc is dangerous. I think the Doc is just misunderstood." said Jennifer.
"He said no McFly has ever amounted to anything in the history of Hill Valley. But I told him that history gonna change." added Marty.
"Ha-ha! Nice comeback to the big palooka!" commented Donald who fist bumped Marty.
At that moment, a car pulled up. Jennifer recognized the man.
"It's my Dad. I gotta go. I'm staying at my grandma's. Here's her house number." said Jennifer as she wrote it down on the back of a flyer. Sora and Co. noticed it said, "Save the Clock Tower." She handed it to Marty. "Nice meeting you guys!" said Jennifer as she left to go to the car before it drove away.
"Wanna have dinner at my house? My parents always love house guests." asked Marty.
"That's very kind of you Marty, thank you." said Mickey.
"We'll join you after some more patrol." said Riku.
"Sounds good. I'm gonna check out some things at the store." said Marty.
Marty went across the street.
"Honestly I don't know what that boy is thinking."
The group turned around and saw a bald man in his 50's or 60's dressed in a grey suit and slacks, white shirt, blue bowtie, and black shoes.
"Hanging around a crackpot scientist and focusing more on music than his studies." the man gruffed. "Discipline. That's what he lacks."
"And who are you?" Donald huffed, not liking this man already.
"Gerald Strickland, principal of Hill Valley High." the man replied.
"Oh so you're Marty and Jennifer's principal." Sora realized.
"And their parents before them." Strickland clarified. "That McFly is a slacker just like his old man."
"Ok so Marty was late, but I doubt he's a slacker." said Kairi.
"You don't know the McFly's like I do." Strickland countered, folding his arms. "None of their family members ever amounted to anything in the history of Hill Valley. And if that boy continues to hang around a nutcase like Emmett Brown, it will continue far into the future."
Everyone glared at Strickland.
"You know for a high school principal, you're really bad at encouraging people's dreams." said Riku.
"And we've seen Dr. Brown's work." said Sora. "And I doubt he's a crackpot."
"If anything, I think you're just bad at reading people." said Goofy.
"And what would you know about reading people?" Strickland huffed.
"What we know is Marty means well and has potential." said Kairi.
"And I think you oughta have more faith in people Mr. Strickland." said Mickey. "Yes discipline is good, but if you go too far with it it can cause trouble."
"I should know, I'm an uncle/father-figure!" said Donald.
"And I'm a dad!" added Goofy.
"And we think Marty is gonna amount to something." said Sora. "And I bet his dad just might too! Me and my friends have! It's never too late!"
Strickland humphed. "We'll see about that. Now if you'll excuse me, it's the weekend. I need to rest up before I keep an eye on all the slackers in my school."
And Strickland walked off to hail a cab.
Riku turned to his friends. "What a pisser." he quipped. (1)
They all chuckled.
"If this is what adults were like in schools in 1985, I'm glad we were born in the 2000's." said Kairi.
"And I do think Marty has potential." said Sora. "I can feel it."
At that moment, Marty returned.
"Just needed some extra batteries for my walkman." he said. "Now then, you guys wanna head to my place, meet my parents, brother, and sister?"
"Of course!" Mickey smiled.
"Lead the way. We'll take our gliders." said Sora.
Marty looked at them puzzled. Sora and Mickey tossed their keyblades in the air and they turned into their gliders. Marty whistled impressed.
"That's pretty heavy." he commented. "But uh, keep to the clouds. Don't want people freaked out."
"You bet!" said Sora.
Marty held onto the back of a moving truck again as it drove down the street. The world-travelers hid in an alleyway and then took off into the sky on Sora and Mickey's gliders, Riku & Kairi with Sora and Donald & Goofy with Mickey.
To be continued…
Another Director's Cut chapter done! I feel like I didn't do much with Principal Strickland in the original since I cut his introductory scene. But hey, I hope this original one works!
