It only took 24 hours of finding out he was going to be a father to change Sam Winchesters perspective and what he was willing to do in order to give his omega and child a good future. Gone were the days when parents thought buying their kids the world would make them happy and whole. Now it was down to providing basic needs, food, shelter and clothing and the little necessities to make this new world a little easier and safer.
His brother had taken care of him all his life and now it was his turn. Only Dean and this baby would spur Sam into staking out a warehouse store out in the middle of a bitter January night. Not that he hadn't been observing it all this time, when it closed, what kind of security it had and where the cameras were located. It didn't matter as much now; the local police were usually too busy on violent calls involving ones with the sickness or creatures dropping from the sky or humans in some sort of terrible crisis.
Sam had determined that even though the building was locked up tighter than a drum, actual human security was lacking. The man on the evening shift between 11and 7 was a creature of habit, he took a smoke break with a back steel door propped open at 1:15 every night. The guy was kind of short, but then to Sam almost everyone was short, and he was stocky as well. The alpha had no intention of hurting him but if there was resistance, he was prepared to mace the hell out of him and tie him up or more if needed but Sam doubted it would come to that.
It was easy to sneak up on the guard and Sam was at the top step before he even noticed. The man's name was Steve as evidenced on his nametag. Sam had a ski mask over his face but he still smiled as he waved his gun toward the open door, "Come on Steve, you and me are going shopping."

Bobby pulled into the empty parking lot outside of 4 Paws Veterinary Clinic. It was way past closing time and the building was dark. He could tell Dean was as confused as hell and apparently cold from the way he was shivering, Bobby pulled a blanket from behind the seat and handed it to him, "Here, I can't have you getting sick."
"Why the hell are we at a vet clinic?"
"I told you I'd take care of your doctor problems." The front door opened and a light popped on, illuminating the young female standing in the doorway, she beckoned to them. As Dean got closer to her, he couldn't help but notice how pretty she was and how she filled out the sweater she was wearing. Old Dean would have flirted with her but pregnant Dean with a stud at home would never consider it. Bobby introduced her as Dr. Marcy and said she'd be doing an exam on Dean tonight. Dean wasn't having it.
"A vet? You want a veterinarian to give me a prenatal exam? You've lost your marbles."
"Boy, if you weren't pregnant, I'd smack you with my ball cap. She's a doctor and has seen everything from pregnant cats to pregnant horses. Humans are animals, what's the difference? Apologize to her, she came out here just for you."
She smiled kindly and touched his arm, "Really Dean, I can help if you'll trust me. Bobby explained the situation completely. I owe him big time and I'm here to help as long as you need me."
…..
Alfie peeked though the curtains and spotted a tall figure in shadow standing on the porch who looked to be holding a giant basket of some sort. The omega heard Sam's voice in his head telling him to go hide and not let anyone in. The figure turned his head and spotted Alfie and waved.
"Oh no, he spotted me…what do I do now…do bad guys wave and carry baskets or monsters for that matter…"
The stranger knocked, "Hello, its Sheamus, Sam's principal, remember? I brought you something. Sam…Bobby, Dean?"
Alfie bravely went to the door and called out, "I'm not supposed to let anyone in. How do I know you're the principle? You could be infected."
"I have ID and I swear I'm not infected."
"Ok, show me the ID at the window."
Sheamus trudged to through the snow and between the bushes then plastered his ID on a lanyard against the window. He got a clear look at the person on the other side. A serious looking young man with saucer sized blue eyes scrutinized the ID. "Can I come in now?" He disappeared and the front door opened, Sheamus hiked back to the porch and went inside along with the mystery basket. Bobby's home was warm and inviting with the lingering smells of good food and spices in the air. He set the basket on the kitchen table and turned to find Alfie standing there watching him, a pistol at his side. Sheamus assumed omega given the long, glittery dress the young man was wearing but he wasn't positive.
"That is a fetching dress you have on; navy blue suits you. It compliments those big blue peepers of yours." The young man cocked his head and a curious look came over him. Sheamus thrust out his hand and Alfie cautiously took it, "I'm Sheamus and you are…?"
"Alfie, I'm a stray, at least that's what Bobby calls me. I know he's only teasing me, though I am a stray. Dean rescued me," he looked down at the gun in his hand and with a measure of pride said, "this was my Christmas gift from Bobby, if you try anything I'll shoot you."
"Duly noted. Don't worry, I'm not dangerous unless your something supernatural or you've got the sickness." Sheamus uncovered the basket and it was filled will fresh eggs and a loaf of bread, "The woman I help has a small hobby farm, mostly chickens, a few goats and sheep. Since the school closed, I've gotta make ends meet somehow so I help her out and she pays me goat milk, eggs, fresh bread, that sort of thing. Now days, that's better than money."
Alfie studied the man while he was busy talking and noticed the outlines of the alpha's muscles beneath the maroon Henley he was wearing and how he filled out his jeans. He was as tall as Sam, mature, square jawed and handsome in a rugged sort of way, Alfie thought his eyes looked like blue ice. When the man complimented him, he blushed from his neck to his forehead, he wasn't used to any praise when it came to his looks. Alfie didn't know his way around males or females for that matter. He was as pure as the driven snow but that was his secret and nobody needed to know. This man gave him the same feelings as when Sam was feeling up Dean right in front of him.
The omega offered him tea and fried some of the eggs and cut two slices from the loaf of bread. They shared the small meal seated at the table and afterward the pair sat together on the couch where they continued to share their stories. Sheamus found Alfie cute, charming, very intelligent and a little weird. Alfie found the principal brilliant, worldly, witty and even more handsome close up.

They were in the back among the stacks and rows of boxes that went almost to the ceiling. Sam followed behind Steve the guard, each had a huge warehouse style dolly and he instructed the man when to put something on. Sam found a crib, and a stroller. Whenever the alpha father to be came across something meant for babies, he added it to their hand trucks. He wasn't sure what it all was or if they would need it but better safe than sorry. All this went on top of boxes of canned goods, powdered milk and other non-perishables and bulk packages of items. There was just one more thing he needed but they'd have to go inside the store for that, it was a risky but necessary trip.
Steve for his part, cooperated completely. He told Sam he didn't care what was taken as long as he didn't get hurt. The male was too huge to think of messing with and the guard could smell young alpha all over him. The younger ones had a stronger, musky scent if they didn't bathe or were sweating profusely and this one must have been sweating something fierce. All the guard wanted was to get paid in food and supplies at the end of the week and get home to his family in one piece.
The alpha asked where the jewelry case was located in the store and he led him the wrap around glass cases filled with glittering diamond jewelry and other precious items. Since the sickness took its toll on the world, clean water, electricity and food were important and adornments just weren't as desirable. He watched as the alpha quickly assessed the items in the cases, raise his crowbar and smashed the glass. The fiery gems awakened something very primal in Sam, the need to acquire all the pretties was strong and he swept jewelry into an empty duffle bag. He finally spotted exactly what he wanted and the whole reason the jewelry interested him in the first place, it was perfect.
On the way back to the warehouse, Sam paused in front of a display of stuffed animals and he couldn't help but smile as he plucked a huge teddy bear from the rack. There was no reason why he should of done this but he blurted out, "The ring is for my omega and the bear is for our baby. The rest of the jewelry is tribute."
"Oh, well congratulations and thanks for not shooting me. My wife will really appreciate that."
Afterward, the robber and guard traveled to the truck, both pushing loaded hand trucks and the guard helped unload everything and cover the stolen treasures with a tarp. He noticed the license plate was conveniently caked in mud so between that and the mask, he'd have little to go on when the authorities questioned him. All they'd see was him and an incredibly tall, faceless male on the recording.
Before the alpha left, he tucked a diamond bracelet in the guard's front pocket and said it was for his troubles, then the tall stranger drove off into the darkness. Later Steve would note that he was most polite robber he'd ever met. Upon returning home, he gave the bracelet to his delighted wife.
….
It was one of the weirdest experiences Dean ever had thus far. Here he was getting an ultrasound from a vet while animals made noise all around him. Bobby stood by watching the screen and when a very small form appeared, the gruff man got a genuine smile on his face. "Well look at that."
Dr. Marcy pointed out the features, "Your just past your first trimester according to your timeline of conception. The fetus looks on track and everything is as it should be."
Dean wasn't sure about that, "It's like the size of a lemon, why isn't it moving around and can you tell what it is yet?"
"That is normal size and the fetus is resting. It's a little early to determine the sex. Next time, if I still have electricity, you'll see big changes." She looked around the room as the lights flickered and when they came back on, solid and steady, she printed out pictures for Dean to take with him.
When Dean caught the tiny movement of toes, his fear of this thing that took up residence in his body because of one careless night faded away. He wanted Sam there to be a part of this and hold his hand and get all mushy so Dean didn't have to.
"I think I kinda love you…no that's not right, I'm sure I love you….I'll see yah in June, kid…."
