They didn't leave as soon as expected and the brothers used that time to set up a nursery in the cabin. Every time Sam carried in another box, or they set up a piece of furniture, Dean gave his Sammy loads of kisses and squeezes for being such a good alpha dad. Sam would have gotten groped and kissed no matter what but giving it as a reward brought out Sam's dimples and Dean liked that very much. Dean cooed things like, "you are such a good daddy" or "look at my man taking care of us" spurred Sam on to work even harder.

There would be no sleeping in a motel drawer for this baby, the kid would have a solid hardwood crib and premo mattress to rest its head. Dean loved the crib Sam got that converted into a kids bed. He never realized how nice it would be to let up on the control and let Sam take over certain things. The omega was now almost five months into this pregnancy and his body was doing whatever the hell it wanted. Swollen feet, cravings mood swings and the worst, admitting he didn't fit into his jeans anymore and was now forced to wear sweatpants. At least they were black.

The little room for the baby was right off their own small bedroom but the cabin was only so big and putting in those two rooms cut the size of it down considerably. The rest of it consisted of the loft, root cellar, bathroom and a combo kitchen and the loft. The wood burning kitchen stove was a big old thing but they were glad to have it because they'd always have a way to cook food even with no power. It had been Bobbys and it belonged there as part of the family, Dean said he was thinking of a name for it.

There were little touches the brothers hadn't thought of before Dean became pregnant but now seemed important. They put up curtains on all the windows and hung pictures on the wall. One of the photos was of Sam and Dean with arms around each other, one of little Dean, baby Sam, Mary and John before their lives were destroyed and one of Bobby where he didn't have a scowl on his face and was actually kinda smiling.

They painted the baby's room a soft yellow and beneath the crib they painted warding sigils and along the ceiling painted more of them in soft, pleasing colors. The mobile above the crib had a sun in the center and planets all around, courtesy of Sam. They installed iron bars on the window which Sam painted white and it had quick release latches in case of emergencies and warm sunny days. The final touch was the giant teddy bear Sam grabbed during his night of larceny. It sat on the glider rocker with a permanent, dopy smile on its face.

When it was all done, the room was as safe and sweet as any baby's room could be. Sam, still a teen and Dean barely in his twenties, were very proud of themselves and what they had accomplished. The cabin felt more like a home for a family instead of an end of the world bug out place.

There was something about being together in the cabin that brought out the soft and tender bits of both Sam and Dean. Dean was in his omega glory every night when his brother massaged his tired feet and legs then rubbed lotion on his belly. It was not much of a belly compared to other omegas and females they'd seen but the baby was active and Dean just felt that everything was ok.

In the dark, lying in bed was when Sam and Dean had not only mind blowing sex but they could really open up to one another on almost anything and it was here, while Sam nuzzled his brother's crotch that Dean posed a question.

"Are you scared, Sammy?"

Sam, lost in the scent of the omega like a cat with a bag of nip, looked up at him with heavy lidded eyes and said, "Huh?"

"Scared about the baby and how things are gonna change. I'm scared which is weird because not much scares me anymore. It's not a bad scared, I'm just…I don't know. What if I fuck this up? I want to be the opposite of dad."

"You are all the good parts of dad, strong, brave and smart and I bet you are all the good parts of mom. You raised me and I think you did a great job. I'm scared because I'm going into this blind but I know it will be ok because I'm doing this with you. As long as you're at my side I know things are going to work out."

Dean raised his head off the pillow, "That was fuckin' beautiful, Sam."

Sam forgot all about his brother's fragrant crotch and sat up, "Stop teasing me."

"I'm not teasing, well maybe a little. You know you are the only person allowed to get sappy with me."

"Dean, will you go to prom with me?"

Now it was Dean's turn to sit up, "Uh, if you haven't noticed, the world is having some major problems and there are no proms. Besides, what if a teacher recognized me and then your whole class would know you are a brother fucker and you knocked me up."

The alpha shrugged, "I always wanted to ask you and now I did." He finger combed is bangs over his eyes and got under the blankets because of a sudden case of shyness. Dean snuggled right up behind him.

"Yeah, if there is ever a prom, I'll go with you."

….

Before leaving, they dug holes for the fruit trees they planned on putting in and cleared and fenced off an area for a vegtable garden. Lastly but most importantly they checked the solar panels.

It was tough leaving for a whole lot of reasons but the north woods were calling.

The four set out on the long journey to the boreal forest and the location of the omega encampment in late February. Sam and Dean drove Baby and Bobby and Alfie took Sam's truck after he added a few enhancements like a truck cab on the back and a steel rail in the front aka a cow catcher.

The ragtag family got a real eye full as they drove the miles to the compound. They tried to avoid going through towns but when they did, they found burned out buildings, abandoned vehicles and the putrid smell of death in the air. Gas was siphoned off the vehicles as their journey went on and Dean spray painted a crude skull on each one so they knew not to check it again by mistake. The skull was a warning to others that the place had been marked and hopefully scare off any roving gangs.

Alfie was Bobbys co-pilot and they took turns driving. He wasn't an experienced driver but he got the hang of things and when they came upon any shambling former humans, he didn't hesitate to hit them with the cow catcher. During the last leg of the journey, Bobby spotted a wooden traffic barrier across the road ahead and slowed only slightly.

"There are some pretty bad humans waiting for us to stop and move it. I'm gonna ram it."

Right before hitting the barrier, several men with guns and bats appeared from the ditches. Bobby didn't hesitate and took out the barrier and one of the men but not before he got a shot off and destroyed the passenger mirror on Sam's truck. Dean purposely side swiped another, sending him flying and his body didn't even make a dent in Baby's sturdy Michigan steel.

The look Dean had was that of exhilaration. Sam had seen that look plenty of times before, usually after a successful hunt. Between his innate personality traits, life experiences, a tainted bite from Sam along with his pregnancy, Dean was just about the most dangerous hunter out there.

Sam found this a turn on.

Monsters and baddies beware.

…..

From his perch in the tree, Dareios spotted two vehicles approaching the town. He whistled to Leo who stood watch below and he waved to the other guard. When the big black car and an even bigger black truck stopped at the cattle gate, he radioed ahead. Dareios hopped out of the tree and approached the vehicles. He gestured for the driver of the car to get out and show himself and a flannel clad tall young man exited with his hands in the air.
