The elder omega's eyes opened wide when Sam dumped the contents of the bag onto his desk. Out tumbled jewelry, rings, bracelets, earrings, there were pearls, diamonds, and colorful gemstones, gold, and silver.

Sam was pleased with the happy sounds and the joyful expression he had, "I stole it, I hope that's ok with you."

Cal admired a diamond ring he had on his pinky, "No judgement here, dear boy. Why give this me, I am sure Dean and Alfie would love some jewels."

"This is tribute and a thank you for everything you've done for my brother. Presenting was so hard on him and he needed to be around well-adjusted omegas who could guide him. Meeting Jamie and then you, was a game changer for Dean. He finally felt good about himself and his body just as it was. Our dad was really hard on him…" Sam's voice trailed off as unpleasant memories came to mind.

Sam looked out the window and spotted Dean in the front yard, having an animated conversation with Alfie who had on a bauble covered head wrap.

"I hope he's not teasing him…play nice, D…"

"Don't worry about Dean, I've put aside things for him and the baby and Alfie had his pick already." This is tribute but it does come with some strings attached, I need some jewelry sized, I'm sure there is someone here who does jewelry or metal work and I need gardening supplies, seed potatoes, top soil, fertilizer, gardening tools, bird netting…you get the picture. I know you have loads of it stockpiled back there. We need it and we've got to go home and get our garden started asap."

Cal flashed the ring he was wearing in the sun streaming through the window, "I accept your terms. You know I would have shared supplies with you even without the jewelry. Please don't share that information with anyone."

Sam pulled a familiar manilla envelope from his jacket and inside was the will leaving the compound to Dean. "My brother doesn't want this place but he doesn't want to hurt your feelings. My brother and I are young and just want to raise our family and forge a life for ourselves."

The omega's feelings were a little hurt by this but he understood, "If you're both sure, but I need to hear it from Dean and then I'll burn the papers. Remember, this place will always be a place you can call home if the need arises."

….

The equinox celebrations started at sunrise the next day and as much as Sam tried to sleep through what sounded like someone blowing a horn or conche shell, he gave up. Dean was already awake, showered, and ready to eat, he always had a big appetite, eating as if he didn't know when his next meal was coming but the pregnancy made him ravenous.

He hitched his thumb toward the window, "I smell food so I'm heading out."

"You look super pretty this morning, honey. How is our beanie baby doing?"

"Honey, beanie baby…just let it happen…he looks so damn cute, like a pet store puppy in a window…"

"Thanks, my adorable stud. The bean is doing the mambo in there this morning." Dean closed his eyes and trailed his nose through the air, "I smell bacon! See yah later Sammy."

….

Rows of wooden tables were filled with people, all eating and chatting. Bobby was sandwiched between a lady and an omega, both vying for his attention and poor Bobby looked to Dean to rescue him but the kid just shrugged and sat at another table.

"Balls, where the hell is Sam to save me from this hellish hen party…why is everyone so damn interested in me anyway…"

Bobby spotted Sam who was surrounded by the prettiest young omegas and girls and the alpha knew Sam would be no help. The elder alpha was glad to see Dean had his face in a plate of bacon or who knows what would happen. Sam looked happy but flustered. In the old world, right now Sam would be preparing for college and graduation and would get the same attention at school. Handsome young men like Sam were the ones who made the females and omegas hearts flutter.

"I wonder if Dean put a bug in someone's ear about me bein' lonely….Balls! I hope not…."

….

The Spring Equinox celebrations took place over the course of several days. There were displays of weaponry skills, plenty of food and drink, booths of wares to barter for, face painting for the children, wrestling matches and music in the air. It was a time for everyone to forget about the dangers and doldrums of their everyday lives and come together for one wonderful week.

There was a fashion show of sorts where a winters worth of leather work, crafting and sewing skills were shown off the many talented omegas who produced the garments. Some were impractical but dazzling and fun, some were dress clothes with traditional embroidery and the rest practical and built for work and comfort. Dean got wrangled into modeling a maternity tunic that hit right above his ankles and when he walked for the crowd, Sam was on his feet whistling and clapping for him so Dean made a big show of it and did a twirl and raised his arms, gesturing for more applause and he got it. Alfie yelled, "You look awesome, Dean!" Bobby nudged the woman next to him and proudly told her that was his son and grandbaby up there.

…..

Rowen was not one for big crowds and avoided most of the festivities. He didn't have to do the cooking and this was like a vacation to him so he took a bag of jelly beans from the secret stash and spent the time having a few beers, reading and chasing a sugar high. His thoughts wandered and Bobby Singer was at the forefront. He wasn't one of the chosen ones to woo the widower twice over and he'd tried his best to not like the man or get along with him but trouble was, he did like him and they did get along.

"They will be leaving soon enough….no point in what ifs….He's been chatting with females and omegas alike…I don't need anyone anyway, I'm fine on my own…Who would want a freckled omega on the wrong side of thirty and he doesn't even know how odd I am…stop it Ro, stop the thinking…"

He went back to his romance novel, tossed back a handful of stale jelly beans and ignored the music and laughter outside his window. Rowen didn't know he was being stalked by a lamia since his walk yesterday evening.

The creature was attracted to this particular human's scent, not that the monster was picky about the type of hearts it ate. It thought of this human as just and appetizer before ripping its way through the crowd outside. Normally it hunted alone but two others had found this kingdom of hearts.

It was a brazen act to enter a human home, especially with so many others just outside but the monster was driven by his senses and despite its size and strength, managed to quietly enter the bedroom of the prey lying supine.

Rowen dropped the book and the bag of jellybeans then went for the gun in the nightstand, not that a gun would have done much to damage this nightmare standing the doorway. He screamed in hopes someone would hear him but the music was too loud. In the blink of an eye the creature was on top, crushing him with its weight. It plunged its massive black claws in the air and pierced the omega's chest. Rowen could only watch, paralyzed as the lamia broke through his ribs and ripped out his heart. The creature squeezed the organ, drinking the copious amount of blood from it then flung the heart to the floor.

For fleeting few seconds, the omega's brain flashed with images from his life and then he was dead.

It was still hungry for more.
