Sam kept his eyes closed and listened to the sound of early birds singing just outside the window. After everything that had happened, he hoped for a lazy morning where you are torn on whether to get up and seize the day or spend another hour lost in your own thoughts. Once the twins were born, there would be no such thing as a lazy morning but Sam was ok with that.
When he heard his brother's deep, low voice, Sam opened his eyes and there was Dean standing by the window, holding his hand up to the sun so the diamond ring would make rainbow patterns on the floor and wall. Sam could barely make out what he was saying because his speech was very soft, the alpha assumed it was directed to the babies.
"Your dad gave me this sparkler." Dean rubbed the Samulet with his other hand, "everything he gives me is extra special. I promise I'll hold it up every sunny day so you can see the rainbows. You are gonna love your dad, Sam is patient, loving, strong, smart and a big softie."
Sam smiled to himself, "Good morning, sunshine. Thank you for the compliments but I don't know anything about being a dad. I hope I do a good job."
"Morning Sammy. Just do everything the opposite of what our dad did and you'll be just peachy." Dean had the wedding and babies on the brain, "I tried on the robe thingy and it won't go over my belly plus its heavy and itchy. I guess I could wear sweatpants and stretch out a t shirt,
"I'm sure Jamie wasn't expecting you to be pregnant with twins when he gave it too you. We'll figure out something beautiful for you."
The omega was relieved, "I'm glad you're handling everything. Honestly, I just want to waddle down the aisle, say the vows and then eat pie and cake. Sam, I'm jonesing for a doughnut right now. I swear, if we found a stale bag of those gross little waxy chocolate ones, I'd still eat the whole thing."
Sam let out a sigh, "Ok, I guess this is a Dean emergency, I've got a candy bar in my duffle."
Dean's face lite up and his pretty eyes opened wide, Sammy, you are awesome." He rewarded his brother with a chocolate covered tongue shoved in the alpha's mouth. It was gross and wonderful all rolled into one.
Sam had a huge stash back home hidden from his sugar loving brother and every now and then when Dean was desperate, Sam would magically produce candy. Dean never questioned where they came from and it became a sweet little game between them. Kind of like when Dean gave Sam a stale granola bar from his Sammy stash under the bed.
….
Cayden woke to the smell of musky male alpha and Old Spice and when he opened his eyes, he realized his head was on Bobby Singers lap and the man's fingers were tangled in Cayden's long curls as if he'd been toying with them.
"This isn't so bad waking up this way…"
The omega asked him to stay and he obliged, on top the bedding just like before only this time Bobby took his socks off. Bobby looked down Cayden to admire his pretty brown eyes, the constellation of tiny freckles across nose and how pretty his smile was.
"This ain't so bad waking up this way…"
"Morning, Bobby. Thanks for staying with me, it kept away the nightmares."
"I know how that is, I have plenty of them myself." Bobby realized his fingers were still wrapped up in curls so he removed them, "Sorry, I didn't mean to finger your hair; I mean touch it…your hair, I didn't touch anything else." He hastily stood up and grabbed his socks and boots and got as far as the door when a soft, musical laugh stopped him.
"Bobby, it is totally fine. Rowan and I were told growing up that our hair was our crowning glory." He stretched his arms, let out a loud yawn and plaited his hair into a braid. "You must have some sort of magic because I slept soundly, have my appetite back and I actually laughed…it feels good to laugh."
Not used to complements, Bobby changed the subject, "How about I whip up some eggs? The boys always say I make a mean breakfast."
"Great, I will get the water boiling for some coffee. I'll make it with a shot of maple syrup and milk. Our dad called it a "hairy lumberjack" only he did not put any whisky in ours."
Bobby let out a snort laugh. Cayden was right, it did feel good to laugh again.
…
Dean lifted his stretched-out AC/DC shirt and poked his belly, "I'm having twins. He flashed the diamond ring in Cal's face, "Sam popped the question to make an honest omega out of me. We want a wedding with cake and pie and if you got an instamatic camera lying around, I want pictures."
If it had been anyone else, Cal would have been taken aback but it was Dean and Dean was…well, Dean. He loved the kid and his bravado. It came from living a life where you had to demand and cajole in order to get anything.
Sam jumped in, "But we understand if supplies are tight."
Cal scribbled notes about the wedding, "Don't worry about a thing."
"My tunic thingy doesn't fit, its either sweatpants or nude, I guess. We need to do this PDQ because I want to go home ASAP." He sounded incredibly stressed.
"I said don't worry, Sam and I will arrange everything."
…..
Bobby helped Cayden with the wrapping of each piece of Rowen's onyx chess set. He held up a banded blue horse and studied the colors, "This is sure a beautiful set. We never did get to play that game. Do you play?"
"Oh yes, this was our mother's chess set. We learned to play as kids. Maybe we could play a game sometime."
"Sure, why not. I thought we'd be heading home by now but now there's a wedding comin' up so it won't be until after that."
The omega was dismayed. It seemed he was losing everyone in his life and though he'd just met Bobby Singer, it felt like the man been around forever. There was a level of comfort and safety he felt around the alpha. Cayden guessed Bobby was like a paper surprise ball and the more layers he unwrapped; the more interesting things would be revealed.
"I-I didn't realize you were leaving. Where is home?"
"South Dakota. I've got a house there and the boys live with me but now they've got the cabin," his demeanor changed and a Cayden picked on his sadness, "I'm gonna miss 'em but I've still got the squirt, at least for now. Alfie has a he's sweet on so I'm guessing he'll move out and start a new life. The kid deserves to be happy." Bobby bucked up when he caught himself getting too tender, "I know my boys will see me all the time with the grandbabies and Alfie with bring his fella around for dinner I bet." He fidgeted with his ball cap and looked away, "Don't know why I told you all that."
Cayden reached over and put his hand over Bobby's, "I'm glad you did. I read my brother's diary and he wrote that you were a good man and he liked your beard."
Bobby stroked his beard, wondering what was nice about it, "I'm not a good guy, he just didn't get a chance to know me. I've got a closet loaded with skeletons and you'd run the other way if I told you."
"We all have our secrets, ones that should never see the light of day and things we are not proud of but you wouldn't be human if you didn't. If you ever want to talk, I'm here." Cayden remembered Bobby was leaving, "I mean if we see each other again." He felt the alpha squeeze his fingers lightly.
Bobby dropped his eyes, pretending to study a black castle but his mind was on what the omega just said and the fact they were going to leave. He had a lot of hard thinking ahead of him. He took a gulp of the coffee, "No whisky?"
Dean watched the exchange through a crack in the door, "Sam, check it out, their holding hands across the table. I swear, if this guy dies…"
"Dean, leave it alone. Cayden is grieving and I suppose Bobby is in his own way. People lean on each other during times like this. Also, what a terrible thing to say."
"Keep rolling your eyes like that and they'll stay that way, Sam."
Alfie appeared and touched Dean on the shoulder, making him jump, "What are looking at?" Dean moved so he could look, "Oh nice, Bobby made a new friend. Once they slow dance at the wedding, they'll fall in love just like I did with Sheamus. Their babies will have red hair for sure."
Dean poked his brother in the chest, "See, I said the same thing only about the dead brother."
"You are both hopeless."
"Yeah, hopeless romantics."
….
The arbor of lilacs were in bloom, the weather sunny with a light breeze and every time it kicked up, a shower of petals from the fruit trees gently landed around them. This was spring at its finest.
Sam, was dressed in his ornately embroidered robes and he looked every inch a handsome, young alpha groom smile on his face and a head full of hopes and dreams.
By the time Dean appeared on Bobby's arm, the short path to the arbor was covered in petals as if the heavens were sending their best wishes to the couple. The omega had on a bubble gauze dress with fine stripe earthtones that hit around the ankles, it was cool and loose and most importantly, comfortable. Dean's only nod to makeup of any sort were his plump lips tinted with berry juice.
When Dean reached Sam, his brother bent down and whispered "goddess" and kissed his ear.
An elder did a traditional alpha-omega bonding ceremony that included candles, chanting, strands of silk cord and flowers.
Sam took both his brother's hands in his and said his vows, "Dean, you have been my everything since I laid eyes on you. Your name was my first word, you are my first and only love and I'm glad we're on this road together. Almost every new experience was with you at my side and now we will have another first, raising our kids together. I love you."
"Sammy, I promise I'll be at your side always and forever and tell you I love you every day and protect you no matter what. I know you are going to be a hell of a father and husband because you are already the best brother, soulmate, friend, and hunter." He waggled his eyebrows, "Now give me some sugar."
The elder presiding over the ceremony barely got out "I now pronounce you spouses for life" before Sam and Dean were kissing. It was a rush doing it in front of loads of strangers and one uncle now staring up at the sky because PDAs gave him second hand embarrassment.
…..
The reception meal was sky cow with gravy and rice with vegetables and Dean got his very own walnut pie along with sheets of vanilla buttermilk wedding cake with cherry filling for everyone. The celebration continued that evening under a sea of stars and twinkle from the solar lights festooning the trees.
They had their dance together, Sam pressed against Dean's back, his arms around his omega's belly as they swayed together to the song "Faithfully" by Journey. Dean showed off his pipes by singing along, every word directed at his one and only Sammy.
The next song came on, "Sara Smile" by Hall and Oates and couples flooded the dance area. Bobby, deep in the cups, used his liquid courage to ask tipsy Cayden to dance. Surprised and delighted, he took the hunter's big hand and the pair slow danced to the dulcet voice of Daryl Hall. They did not dance as much as hold on to each other and sway.
The omega looked up into Bobby's eyes, "I love this song." Cayden closed his eyes and did a little singing of his own.
"If you feel like leaving, you know you can go
But why don't you stay until tomorrow
If you want to be free
You know all you got to do is say so…"
"When you feel cold, I'll warm you
And when you feel you can't go on
I'll come and hold you
It's you and me forever…"
He felt Bobby's fingers lace through his thick hair and arm tighten around his waist and finally, a whisky flavored kiss, soft lips and coarse whiskers.

A/N- I will not be able to update this story for at least a month. Never fear, I always finish my stories. In fact, this winter I'll be putting out a 60's-70's story with all the SPN cast set in Las Vegas at a casino and it will be big and splashy. One of my period piece stories I love so much.
I'll be back, promise.
