Hestia resisted the urge to rub her forehead and sigh.
The living space below the church was lit up with a soft blue glow as she sat straddling atop her first and so far only child's back while he lay on the bed.
There was a lot to unpack here.
While the story on his back and that written into the story from todays efforts flashed through her mind like a torrent, she was well capable of picking out the details if she focused.
She was a goddess after all, despite her less than stellar ability to support Caelan over the past week and a half since he joined her Familia.
It was just that, most deities tended to only want to pay attention to the fun and exciting adventures their children went through instead of the tedious grind they all went through.
Hestia liked to think she was a lot better than those idiots who only cared for entertainment and nothing more.
As such, she parsed through it all. From the moment Caelan left their home behind this morning, to his meeting with Lili, to his journey into the depths of the dungeon where he tore through legions upon legions of huge ant monsters larger than she was, to the return trip back to the surface and where he caught sight of the man named Canoe following Lili after he stored his 'armour away'.
Or to be more exact, shattered it into multiple pieces and sold it to the guild.
She could see it in her minds eye, as he crushed that chienthrope mans head beneath his foot and killed him.
Hestia grimaced. She logically understood it and she was no stranger to death, she'd saw many a mortal child die in the ages past, before the gods came down from Tenkai and blessed the children with the falna.
That did not at all make it easy for her to watch her precious Caelan, usually so sweet and kind, brutally murder another mortal without batting an eye.
Her eyes flickered to the small, tiny pallum girl sitting atop their couch,. her hands fisted awkwardly in the cloak she was wearing. and an uncomfortable look on her face.
She knew the gist of what was going on around her now from a brief explanation and what she saw here in the falna.
'I don't like it.' she sighed mentally. That did not mean she didn't understand though.
She couldn't feel Caelan's emotions within the story on his back, but she could see and hear what he did. And what he saw, was all the reason he needed.
Caelan was a sweet, lovely, giving, hard working boy. But at the same time he was also the ruthless boy who's first instinct was to tear out the throat of a goblin attacking him with his teeth.
There was a reason why he gained the skill Typhon after all.
Still…all that wasn't really important right now.
She was more taken aback by what she saw reflected in his status right now. This…was beyond her expectations.
And she'd been expecting some pretty wild increases.
'But this takes the cake…was last night really worth this…?' she mentally whimpered, cheeks blazing red, '…I suppose as a grand feat that the gods would recognise, accomplishing what they never could fits…'
It was embarrassing. Yet, it made her proud and all tingly inside at the same time.
Shaking her head, Hestia finished updating his falna and cut off the connection. And while she was at it, she remembered to do what she learned from Hephaestus earlier.
She locked his status so nobody could see it but her.
"That took a bit longer than usual." Caelan noted when she got off him and let him sit up.
"Yeah…well there was a lot go through with this update." Hestia laughed awkwardly, rubbing the back of her head.
She handed the sheet of paper containing his updated status to him. He accepted it, looked down, eyes sweeping over the page.
He paused.
His eyes widened.
He gaped and his head whipped around to look at her, "…Are you serious?" he asked, utterly flabbergasted.
She could sympathize with that look. Because even as a goddess, in all her time alive, she'd rarely seen something as crazy as what was currently reflected back on that page.

Magic
He'd gotten everything he wanted when he set out for the dungeon this morning as far as the monster abilities went, more even. And the stat increases he got were insane, blowing right past the usual max they could reach.
But even crazier than that….was not only had their escapades last night together resulted in him getting a skill and a powerful one at that by her reckoning…he'd also…
"This plus sign does it mean….I can level up….?" Caelan asked her, mouth hanging low.
"Eh?" Lili's head shot up at his words and the tiny cloaked girl went just as wide eyed as her first child.
"Yup." Hestia confirmed.
"Like right now, I can go up to level two even though I've not even been an adventurer for two weeks yet?" he asked for confirmation.
"You can," Hestia confirmed, holding her emotion back, "If you want, I can do it right now." she offered.
"…Not even two weeks….the previous record holder took an entire year." Lili mumbled in absolute shock. Her gaze looked almost blank, as if her brain just stopped working at what she heard.
Caelan stared at the sheet of paper in his hands for a moment, saying nothing at her offer, before promptly, grinning, "Nah, I think I'll hold off for now, I can still raise my stats higher." he denied her offer to level up.
"You don't want to level up?" Lili's eyes regained the light of a working brain and she practically shot to her feet, "But, you'd be beating out the Sword Princess's record fifty times over, you'd be making history!"
Such was the craziness of his words. Any other child would be in a rush to level up. Especially for that renown he'd gain.
"Sure, but my stat foundation is more important," Caelan shrugged off her words, "Besides, I'll still get all that fame even if I hold off for an extra week to raise my stats some more."
Lili bit her lip, "But…levelling up gives way more benefits than just increasing stats. If you level up now you'll practically increase in ability three times over, maybe more from what I've heard." she protested.
"She's not wrong," Hestia pointed out, if only to get him to consider his options, "If you level up right now, you'd probably be able to throw around an average level three."
While he'd be stronger in the long run from holding off, the instant increase of strength he could gain right here and now, would make him safer from anyone targeting him.
Levelling up right now, would make him untouchable to ninety percent of the Familia's in Orario that could make a claim for him.
"And if I hold off for another week, when I level up I'll probably be able to throw around a top tier level three," Caelan refuted with a laugh, "Here Lili, take a look, you'll understand why I'm holding off for a bit if you see my status." he stood up from the made and bed his way over to hand the sheet of paper over to Lilil.
"…Mr. Caelan, you shouldn't just go showing off your status willy nilly like that," the short pallum girl admonished him with a sigh, "People can use it against you."
"She's right you know." Hestia pointed out drily. What was the point of her locking his status if he was just going to show it off anyway?
Well, not that she tried to stop him anyway.
"It's fine, I trust you." he waved off their concerns.
'So much for not going after a harem.' Hestia rolled her eyes. He might not have been aware of it, but from seeing the Falna, she was privy to all the times he'd checked out Lili, staring at her chest and backside whenever she bent over in that robe today.
Well, the little speech he gave Lili to convince her was all but confirmation of that anyway, 'What was with that anyway, so corny and dramatic!' she muffled a snort.
Lili stared at Caelan for a few moments, taking in his words, before she seemingly sighed in defeat and looked down at the status sheet he'd handed her.
"…EHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!?" she screamed, eyes flying wide open with shock that blew her earlier shock out of the water.
See now that was the typical reaction she was expecting to anyone seeing Caelan's status.
It was mind boggling after all, be literally broke the scales.
"What's wrong?" Caelan asked the pallum girl.
"What do you mean what's wrong Mr. Caelan? This is insane!" the girl, who until a moment ago was quiet and demure exploded, "You called me special earlier, but the difference between my status and this is like the difference between a goblin and…and a Goliath or something!"
"I am pretty amazing," he agreed, "And you are special. I'm just the best and the one who's gonna be the strongest. My skill is a cheat like that."
The wind was taken directly from Lili's sails at his words and the girl sighed, collapsing on her backside, "…No wonder you aren't afraid of the Soma Familia at all," the pallum girl mused aloud, "Looking at this, Lili can't understand why you'd want her at all. Once your name gets out, everyone will be trying to get an in with you."
Hestia winced lightly at the broken tone the girls voice took on. Not that she didn't understand. If she had to make a comparison, it would be like comparing the state of her Familia before Caelan joined…to…as much as she loathed to admit it, Loki's Familia.
Caelan wasn't normal, and he couldn't at all be compared to a pallum girl who was at the bottom of a low level Familia.
She could scarcely imagine the crushing despair that the young pallum felt. And the defeated, dismayed look in her eyes explained it all for anyone to see if they cared to look.
"Because I want you, as simple as that." Caelan replied crouching down to pat her on the head, making her blink. It was quite amazing to see the dark look in her eyes be cleared with a simple statement of less than ten words.
It was such a greedy and arrogant statement too.
But it worked.
'Still corny though.' she snorted. She bet he thought he sounded cool when he made his little speech to her earlier. He'd probably relish in some of those cringy nicknames that got awarded to others when they levelled up by the gods.
She could just seeing him proudly introducing himself as the 'Galaxy Greed Fist' or something.
'I must never allow this to happen.' Hestia's eyes widened at the thought. Never, she could never let he precious Caelan get saddled with such a stupid nickname!
"Alright, enough of this heavy stuff!" Hestia declared, putting a stop to the dramatic tension in the room, "I was promised a massage, and by Loki's flat itty bitty chest I'll get one!"
"You know…Lili is kind of surprised."
"By what?" I asked, glancing out of the corner of my eye at the small girl who was currently reclining on our crappy threadbare couch. She'd divested herself of the full body white cloak she wore, leaving her in nothing more than a tiny belly baring red hoodie and short red skirt that barely came down over her thighs, and left unbuttoned at the top, even though she had a belt and black torn thigh highs.
It was…I'm not gonna lie, kind of an erotic looking outfit. I know for a fact she could replace her clothes without problem, that's just how she likes dressing, I think.
And it stands out all the more because of how curvaceous she is for a pallum. And this is her with poor living conditions.
She's not even four feet tall and has tits big enough to fill my palms.
"Where you and Hestia-sama are living," she replied, idly casting a glance to one corner of the room where a cobweb had begun to form on the corner of the ceiling, "With how much you made today and with what you told Lili about your skill, Lili thinks Mr. Caelan could easily afford a new place."
"Probably, but I'm waiting a bit till we can afford an actual big place," I replied as I idly worked my fingers gently into the back of the short stack goddess below me, whom I was currently straddling the back of, "And I've kind of been too busy to look into how much property costs."
"I see…while Lili doesn't know too much herself, she has looked into it briefly," the pallum girl admitted, "The higher end homes that higher end Familia purchase or get built generally start at around ten million valis."
…Hmm. That was cheaper than I thought. But, if I wanted to make sure I got a good one, with all I wanted in it, I'd need to gather at least three times that. Especially if I wanted it in a good area.
That could take a while considering I literally eat the magic stones I get. Though, if I didn't and focused on earning and went a little deeper into the dungeon. I could probably gather thirty million in a couple weeks, if even that going by my earnings today.
…Though that was with Lili backing me up and doing the looting for me, so maybe not.
"Good to know, I'll have to look into it a bit more once I get my business set up," I mused and that did bring something to mind, I looked away from Hestia who was murmuring happily underneath me to Lili, "Which reminds me, I said I wanted you, but if you don't want to be a supporter or anything anymore, you're definitely cute enough to draw eyes and you can work in my new shop if you want."
"….You would be fine with that, even though you said Lili being a supporter is why you picked me?" she asked, biting her lip and giving me an odd look.
I didn't know what she was thinking.
"Yeah, it'd slow me down a ton in the dungeon, cuz you're awesome as a supporter, but I'd rather you be happy," I explained, "Besides, you know a lot more about business and things in this city than me, you'd be able to run the business better than me."
"…No," Lili denied after a moment, "Lili is Mr. Caelan's supporter. So I want to stay as Mr. Caelan's supporter, but Lili can help out there when needed." her words were firm.
I grinned, "Brilliant, I was hoping you'd rather stick with me in the dungeon, I get things done so much faster with you around to deal with the bodies," I replied, otherwise I was probably going to have to drag a huge cart down into the dungeon with me to load everything on to and lug around, "We'll just need to get you a disguise or something for now until I'm ready to go kick the Soma Familia's doors in and force them to let you go."
"No need to worry Mr. Caelan, Lili already has that covered," she shook her head and then brought her hands up to her head, "Your wound is mine. My wound is mine. Echoing message of midnight." she chanted.
And before my eyes, a shimmer of light surrounded her and a moment later she changed. Furry brown dog ears formed atop her head while a bushy brown canine tail sprouted from her backside as she became a chienthrope.
Cinder Ella, her own personal magic spell. Which I already knew she had. Though, I made a show of widening my eyes in surprise, "Transformation magic?" I 'gaped'.
"Yes, it's how Lili has been able to survive up until now," she admitted, the ears on her head twitching lightly and lowering, akin to an ashamed dog being given into trouble, "Cinder Ella let's Lili transform into anything around her size and even change her race into chienthrope or an elf, even an amazon."
"See, I knew you were special, that's a pretty amazing spell," I shook my head, "And you have one of those supporter skills right, that let's you carry more? I'd love to get my hands on a skill like that."
"…Yes, Lili has the Artel Assist skill, a quite common skill among supporters," she admitted, giving him another queer look, "Lili doesn't understand why Mr. Caelan who is so amazing would want such a useless skill though."
"That's not useless, that's an amazing skill," I rebuffed, "Imagine this Lili. I have a massive heavy sword that weighs multiple hundred pounds. Because of that skill, most of the weight is held by the skill and makes it feel light to me, but anything I hit with it, will still feel all the weight behind it. I could dual wield giant buster swords or huge clubs the size of my body easily with that skill and swing them around easily, hell I actually wanted to ask you how I'd unlock that skill myself because of how useful it seems to me."
Her confirmation that it was a common skill amongst supporters though, makes it seem that it is possible to earn the skill and that it isn't unique. Just like how the Amazon sisters in the Loki Familia both have a Berserker skill.
Lili blinked, "…I see, Lili did not think of that," she admitted, "Lili can see how it would be useful in Mr. Caelans hands, but not in hers. Lili is still just a small, weak pallum in the end and Artel Assist can only go so far."
"You're not a pallum right now though," I pointed out, "Unless that transformation is just an illusion and not physical?"
I know it is not.
"…No, it's physical, while transformed like this Lili has the senses of a chienthrope," she admitted, brows furrowing, "But again, that only goes so far with Lili, I'm just too small."
"Big things come in small packages, look at your chest after all." I grinned at her.
Her cheeks burned and she brought her arms up to hide her breasts from my gaze, "…Mr. Caelan truly is a lustful beast at heart, just like you said earlier." she pouted at him.
But, despite her words, I couldn't see any disproval in her gaze. In fact, if I wasn't wrong, her voice sounded a little pleased.
Yeah, as I expected. Lili's experiences in life had torn her down. I just had to build her back up. She was weak to honest flattery, because she'd never had it before.
"Hey, you're a beautiful girl, can you blame me?" I snorted, and she couldn't hide the small pleased glint that appeared in her eyes at my words, "Besides, I think you're looking at this a little wrong. You can do so much with what you have. Like, you could transform into a werewolf at night and get stronger under the moon or even a boaz to use their beastification, and even without that you'd be stronger than normal because of their race being physically superior to pallums. With that and your Artel Assist skill, you'd be able to wield something like a big spear easily and out hit most low level adventures even with your height. And it doesn't end there, you could transform into a bird to fly around, into a snake to bite and poison your enemies. Between your transformation spell and your skill, you could totally become a strong adventurer if you want."
Lili's eyes widened in shock, so much so she looked a bit like a deer caught in headlights, "…A boaz using beastification is said to double all their physical abilities, a werewolf under the moon even more so," she idly said, more to her self than anything, "A bird…Lili could have flown far away as one, why did she never think of that?"
…Yeah, why didn't she? She could have literally flown all the way to another kingdom and lived there easily with the Soma Familia being unable to find her ever again.
"Obviously, it's clearly destiny," I joked, "Cuz' if you flew the coop I'd never have got to meet you. A total tragedy."
Lili's lips tugged up at his words, "…Mr. Caelan is very corny."
I thought I heard a snort of agreement from beneath me, but that couldn't be true. Because, I'm pretty sure Hestia has already fallen asleep. My magic super healing powder massage technique was clearly amazing.
…It also helped a lot that my voice had changed a bit since I got my status updated. While my voice was already pretty deep, it had deepened a bit further and an odd, almost alluring timber had entered my tone.
My voice was pretty sexy now. I bet I could actually sing worth a damn now thanks to it.
"A little bit," I admitted, but mostly because things that wouldn't translate well in my old world, actually did here, I'm just seeing what sticks, "And you know, there's nothing wrong with being small." I assured her.
"…You're just saying that." she shook her head.
Gently, I rose up off of Hestia's back and slipped onto the floor, "Nah," I denied, making my way over to take a seat beside her and casually placing my hand on her head and ruffling the girls hair, "I mean, did you know? That once upon a time before this world, this universe itself came into being that it was no bigger than a peach."
"…That's totally made up." Lili replied bluntly, but that did not stop her from leaning into his touch, tail idly wagging behind her almost on instinct.
"I'm not joking," I replied with a laugh, holding up a single hand and cupping my fingers in a circular shape, "No bigger than this. And all it was back then, was fire. And then, the heat and density of that flame became so great, it exploded and expanded outwards and from it, everything came into existence. I don't know what created it, but that was how we were created. We're stardust Lili, bigger people just have a little bit more. And that's why Hestia is the best goddess, she's the goddess of the divine flame where we all came from. You might be a pallum right now Lili, but don't ever forget where you really came from. Just like me, you're bright and powerful stardust that was formed in the crucible of divine cosmic fire." I was half rambling at this point, drawing from scientific and philosophic quotes both and half paraphrasing at that.
I don't think Lili will understand what a singularity is after all.
"…Lili…has no idea where you're going with this Mr. Caelan." she replied blankly and totally lost.
I couldn't help but chuckle, "I mean that the universe itself was once only a fraction of your size and look at it now," I explained, "If the universe can start out smaller than you and become great enough to contain even the amazing me and everyone else, then you can become strong, you've got all the talent, abilities and intelligence needed, you're special enough. You just need to believe in yourself like I do. Or at the very least, put your belief in the me that believes in you."
"…Where did you come from Mr. Caelan? You have only known Lili for a day, two at best," she replied, "Why are you so confident in Lili? you said you want everything the world has to offer, what does that mean?"
"I come from Scotland, a place you'll probably have never heard about and probably never will beyond me, I'm the only one alive from there in this world now after all," I decided on as an explanation, "I'm the only one of my race left in this world and the closest analogy I can give you of us, is think of Amazon's, only both male and female, and vastly more intelligent and learned. We're basically very very smart and progressed barbarians."
Or at the very least that was general image people had of the Scottish. And well, my race was human and my human race was clearly different from the one in this world. We were vastly ahead in civilization and knowledge after all.
"And as far as everything the world has to offer goes," I shrugged, "I'm just too greedy to settle. Like I said, I want money, power, influence, women and more."
"…Then…what makes Lili special if you want even more women? Lili is sure you soon many women more beautiful than Lili will come to you." she asked in a small voice.
"Because there's only one Lili," I replied, then snorted, "Don't think just because I want women, that I'm going to go after every single one I see. Let me tell you, less than one percent of the women in this city can measure up to you. Even a bunch of the goddesses don't measure up."
"….Mmm, as expected," Lili surprised me by slumping into my side, "Lili doesn't understand at all, but it Mr. Caelan's words does make Lili feel warm inside."
Before I knew it, her breathing evened out and she fell asleep. It seemed, everything that had went on today and all the bombs I'd dropped on her, had totally exhausted her.
"…You really are way too corny for your own good," the familiar voice of my patron goddess made me look over to see Hestia, awake and giving me a dry gaze, "That was embarrassing to listen to."
"Yeah, I'm not that emotional a guy, I can only draw on the wisdom of others in that regard," I felt my cheeks warm up, "Sadly telling Lili to shut the fuck up, she's special because I said so, wouldn't really be a valid explanation."
"…Soma really has damaged her," Hestia's gaze softened as she looked at the girl sleeping by my side, "Though, I'm surprised, so that's where you come from? I admit, I've never heard of a Scotland or any race named after it, even up in Tenkai."
"It was a pretty small place." I admitted, which was true, Scotland despite having the natural resources to be a superpower, was a rather small country.
"It does explain a lot though, you're a lot different than most mortals I've met," Hestia mused, "And you weren't kidding about being an intelligent race, I didn't know any mortals knew of the creation of this world, we tend to keep a tight lip on that. Unless you guys had another deity that told you?"
"Nah, we figured it out ourselves, though to be exact, we can trace up to when and what the universe began as, just not what really caused it initially," I replied, "Though. it's just an assumption that you deities were behind it."
"…We…helped a bit I suppose," Hestia admitted, "The divine flame I watch over played a big part in it though."
…Wait seriously? I was just bullshitting on that part. "Cool," I grinned, "Hestia is Bestia after all." I'm not sure if it was the same for my universe, but at least as far as this one goes, I have been gifted the answer my people longed after for thousands upon thousands of years.
Neat.
"Mou, you shouldn't say stuff like that, you make me want to kiss you," Hestia pouted at him, "But we can't because Lili is here, stupid dumb idiotic moronic loser Soma."
"Yeah…I had other plans for tonight initially." I admitted.
"Oh?" Hestia gave me an eager, interested look, prompting me with her deep sapphire blue gaze to continue, "You're such a dirty boy Caelan."
"That I am, I wanted to try out some new positions with you tonight on the bed," my grin widened, "I wanted to try doing you from behind tonight now that you've adjusted to me and pull on your twin tails."
"…Oh my," her cheeks blazed and she looked away, "Stupid Soma." she griped again.
I laughed again and gently eased my way out of Lili's grip, grabbing the sheet over the back of it and laying it over her, "I guess since that's not an option right now, I'm gonna head out for a bit and test out my new abilities," I mused, "That and fill those barrels upstairs."
"Of course you are, just don't over do it, we've gotta go check out that store tomorrow and get things ready to go for business," she sighed, turning back to me, "….Hey…" she started up as I got ready to leave.
"Yeah?" I paused, giving her my attention.
"The reason you want a bunch of girls….it isn't because you want to revive your race is it?" she asked, biting her lip.
Did…I?
I hadn't been thinking along those lines until now. But, now that I think about it, I can't deny the appeal of siring an all new Scottish race, stronger than all the rest in this world.
"Well…it's not only that." I admitted.
"Alright." was all Hestia said in reply.
And thus we return with the double one chapter of eleven, hello darkness my old friend, I've come to pump yer mum again.
Quite a few things went down this chapter. Lili got introduced to Hestia and was told of basically everything that was going on around her in regards to the Soma Familia. Caelan gave Lili a 'the reason you're fucking awesome' speech and gave her a few pointers on how even she could become a powerful adventurer if she so desired to continue that path with him.
The big kicker of this chapter though, or at least a big part of it, was Caelan's status update. Not only did he get a skill out of boinking the virginity out of Hestia...he also earned the ability to level up. Yep, you heard it here folks. See, there's a lot of misconception about levelling up in Danmachi. People all think it has to do with fighting opponents stronger than you and things like that. Not quite. While that can work in some cases, it's really about the monster in that case rather than the adventurer. If it was like that, Bell would have levelled up from defeating the silverback. No, what a level up in Danmachi is, is achieving a feat worthy of being acknowledged by the gods. Caelan could have went and killed a standard minotaur, without anywhere close to the trouble Bell had against pre-reincarnated Asterios and levelled up, because a level one defeating a Minotaur, is a grand feat. It doesn't matter Caelan is stupidly stronger than normal level one's and could do it easily, all that matters in this case, is he would be a level one defeating a minotaur that even many level 2's struggle against.
Stat gains are an effort thing as far as the falna goes. But the level ups themselves, are an achievement system. And as Caelan, a mortal teenager deflowered one of the vaunted and legendary virgin goddesses that hundreds, if not thousands of gods failed to do, it is recognised as a feat worthy of being acknowledged by a god. Heck, I'm pretty sure, if Welf had a stat reaching five hundred, he would have been able to hit level 3 from making his new type of magic swords that don't break.
Well, putting that side, this story has already hit over three thousand followers and is ranked second in the entire pure danmachi story archive. Thanks for that guys, let's aim for the top spot, shall we? And, if you want to read ahead, we're up to chapter 14 on the Pa-atreon.
Anyway, shameless Pa-atreon plug. I've got one, go by the same username on there, easy to find and all that jazz. Support me if you want, it'd be swell, but don't feel pressured lads and ladies, I'll be uploading my stuff outside it regardless and not keeping it all behind a paywall or anything like that.
