"It isn't poison, it's slime."

"Is it poisonous slime?" Naruto asked for a correction as he had those magically gifted looking at the slime that was cleaned from the wounds Mash had suffered. Other than the potential for a nasty scar, Circe and Tamamo had been able to heal her wounds and cure her ailment. She was sleeping on his bed at the moment, and Naruto sat on the bed with her as he looked over his servant and Circe.

Circe was a witch with incredible knowledge, and he had access to her master to force her to obey, so there was no harm in asking for her opinion.

"It's transformative, but this didn't come from the fangs of a monster. It is an ingredient from a monster, but there is powerful magic in it." Circe explained, and Naruto looked at Tamamo for comfirmation that she was telling the truth. Naruto glanced at Mash, and he pulled down the bandages on her injured body and looked at the healing wound.

He raised an eyebrow at Circe.

"Transformative... how?" Naruto didn't like the way that sounded.

"Well, it uses the same magic I use to turn sailors into pigs... only instead of being mixed into food, it is mixed into this." Circe squished the slime between her fingers. "As for the wounds... that is the weird part. I would expect that it was a group of Sirens... but that can't be the case. Sirens are monsters, but these wounds aren't normal."

"Sirens?" Naruto looked towards Tamamo.

She shrugged.

"Seducers of men, but they don't discriminate between married men and unmarried. They wouldn't stop at ripping the wedding band off a man's finger. There might be a Siren among the enemies, but the ones who caused these wounds aren't sirens." Circe stated with a sure tone.

Naruto hummed in thought, and he glanced at Mash again.

"She won't transform?"

"I removed the magic causing her to start transforming, and reversed the effects. There is nothing more I need to do." Circe proclaimed.

-3 Days Later-

The mist was still around them.

"How... how is Mash?" Ritsuka asked Naruto again, since he hadn't allowed anyone other than him or his servants to enter his room since they treated Mash. She was still fast asleep, in a magically induced sleep until Naruto was absolutely sure that she wasn't going to transform. Naruto trusted his servants to do a good job, but he didn't have faith in the servants of others.

He didn't trust that Circe didn't put some magical spell on Mash that would cause her to attack him, or some kind of mind control spell. So he had Tamamo put Mash into an induced sleep until they were out of the mist, or until enough time had passed and she showed no signs of transforming.

"No changes, but until we're out of this-"

A fight started to break out.

"Stop it you two! NOW, there won't be any fighting!" Naruto stopped talking to Ritsuka in favor of stopping Ishtar and Anne/Mary from getting into another fight. To say that the tension was rising on the ship was an understatement to say the least. The stress of not knowing fully what the enemy was, and that they were constantly at risk of being attacked had put everyone on a hair trigger.

Fights broke out every few hours for most servants.

"Heheheheh." Van Gogh was sitting with her back to the stairs, and she was running a knife across her arm. Naruto grabbed her wrist and yanked it away up, causing her to drop the knife she was using to cut herself. Van Gogh was another problem, because while she wasn't fighting anyone, she had taken to injuring herself and fits of insanity where she would paint horrifying pictures, laugh like a mad woman, or cut herself.

Naruto didn't say a word to her, he just stared her in the eyes with a stern look.

He had told her a dozen times to stop cutting herself in a short time period, and he didn't want to yell at her... because as much as he felt like yelling at her, that isn't what he wanted to do. He had already yelled at her, but it had caused her mood to plummet when he did, and he didn't want that to happen again.

"She started it."

"I don't care who started it. If you three keep fighting, one of you is getting locked up with the the other Master's servants. Ishtar, stay far away from Anne and Mary, and you two... don't let the steering wheel again until it is time to put down the anchor." Naruto was done with their bullshit.

"Yeah, do what Master says!"

Melusine wasn't stressed at all.

Neither was Atalanta, she was sitting on the very front of the ship in a crouched position, with her eyes closed at almost all times. She kept her nose and ears peeled for any potential sounds of smells that would alert her to a possible enemy attack. Since visibility was at almost zero now with the mist thickening, Ishtar and even Melusine were useless as spotters.

"Ishtar... go lock up ALL of the prisoners, and keep them safe... there is a chill right now."

"I don't feel any chills, but okay." Ishtar obeyed his orders and went below the deck. Naruto looked towards Ritsuka, who was looking at his quarters instead of following after Ishtar. Naruto thought about what to do about that, but decided against making any choice at all. Naruto wanted Ishtar, one of his strongest servants, to guard the prisoners so that they would remain safe and defended from harm.

"Master... do you need something?" Atalanta opened an eye when she felt his warmth behind her.

Naruto nodded.

"You feel that chill, don't you?" Naruto asked, and she nodded her head. "Tamamo... set up a Bounded Field around the ship... a field that weakens the magic of singing voices." Naruto stated as he gave an order to Tamamo. She was standing on standby for this moment. She grabbed her mirror and wheat from her sleeve, before she started to get to work. There was a shimmer in the air around the ship, and she begun to dance. "Go down to the bottom and have Ishtar guard you... I don't want you getting taken out, and the field dropping." Naruto stated.

Ishtar to guard the prisoners and Tamamo was important, though it reduced his fighting force by 2 of his 8 servants.

Van Gogh was having a nervous breakdown, and couldn't be relied on in this fight either. Shuten could never be relied on to help unless she felt like it, so in all honesty Naruto only had 4 servants to fight with... well one of his servants were 2 people, but if one died the other died so they counted as one for real combat.

"Master, are we about to be attacked?" Melusine asked, curious as to why he was preparing for battle, when there were no signs of it.

It started.

The singing, the eerie, scary singing started and rung true through the mist. It sounded like it might as well be coming from all directions. Melusine rushed over to the side of the ship and glanced at the water below, but there was no signs of any creatures there. Naruto raised his hand, but he was too far away. The mist made it impossible for Anne and Mary to physically see him from the front of the ship. Melusine glued herself to his body.

The anchor dropped.

Naruto heard the sounds of running, and Anne and Mary were ready.

"Master, Sirens!"

"Siren... just one... the other voices sound... garbled." Naruto had a feeling they were facing down one of them.

1 of the 7 Legendary Sea Beasts.

The Siren, who sang sailors to their deaths. It sounded like a bunch of voices singing, but only a single of the voices sounded beautiful and haunting. The rest of the voices sounded pained and eerie, but hypnotic. A magical mist that couldn't be seen through or sailed through. Atalanta closed her eyes and listened to the song more.

Melusine was ready for combat.

"Van Gogh, to me!" Naruto ordered.

Didn't take a second for Van Gogh to be latched onto his side, and he covered the side of her head with his hand. If any of them were to fall victim to a wound or the singing, then that person would be Van Gogh, who was already at the end of her sanity with this monster. At least when they were facing down the monster whirlpool, the monster came out of nowhere and didn't give them time to fret over it.

This monster waited days.

It let fear and tension fall over them, wanted them to be at each other's throats. It didn't let them see sunlight, feel warmth and comfort. It created an air of uncertainty and despair, which mentally weakened a good number of the servants on board the ship. In a twisted way, Naruto preferred the whirlpool goddess over this beast.

"Goghie... just listen to my voice, don't fight, don't panic... just stay by my side." Naruto looked around every part of the ship he could see.

The singing.

It didn't stop, but nothing just snapped out of the mist and attacked them.

"That singing... it's just lovely-" Naruto smacked Melusine on the back of the head the SECOND she started to fall for the music. He looked at her like she was an idiot, but she snapped back to reality by the jolt. "... seems my magic resistance is high enough to not be bothered. Anne and Mary, status report on you two?" Naruto was alarmed when he got the smell of blood.

Mary and Anne were both bleeding from their faces.

A wound on a cheek each.

"Don't worry, we got this." Mary had cut her cheek open, and Anne's cheek, so that they could use pain to ignore the allure of the voice. Naruto looked at Atalanta next, and grabbed her shoulder to shake her. Her eyes were still closed, and she wasn't saying anything.

Her eyes slowly opened.

"The water isn't moving. We're on still water right now... all I can hear is the Siren singing... but I feel eyes watching us." Atalanta stated as she opened her eyes.

"How..."

Naruto stopped.

Part of the water in front of the ship was visible, and from the still water a head started to rise.

It was... ugly.

With flesh like a melted wax candle, green and discolored. Hair in patches from the melted flesh, like it had melted off with the melted flesh. Eyes with no eyeslids, the lids having melted off of it's face. Bone was visible on one of the cheeks, where the face had melted too much... and the head had no lips. They had long since disappeared, showing nothing but deformed and sharp teeth. Teeth that had recently seemed to have grown out.

A second head raised up out of the water.

6 and 8 more from either side.

The singing got more intense as more heads rose from the water, but louder than all of them was still the voice that came from somewhere deep within the mist. The water remained still even as they rose from it, as if they weren't natural at all.

30 more heads rose from the still waters.

More heads kept rising from the waters, and Naruto could feel even more eyes on him. Even from the parts of the mist too thick to see through, Naruto could tell that more and more were rising where he couldn't see them.

Atalanta let loose an arrow.

It hit one of them in the head, but even as it slowly sunk below the water, it kept singing it's horrifying and sad song. Atalanta let loose 4 more arrows and pierced the heads of 5 more sirens, one of her arrows piercing two at the same time.

"Master... their numbers aren't going down." Mary noted that when 6 of the enemies sank below the water, 8 more rose above the water to take their place. Only, the ones who replaced them had their faces even more intensly melted. They weren't moving towards the ship, they were just locked in intense eye contact with those on the ship.

*BOOM*

A cannon exploded, and Melusine knocked it off course.

"Huh!?" Naruto was stunned, he looked across and saw a form barely made out through the mist. One of their own cannons had been turned on them, and the inhuman figure in the mist was right next to the cannon. The mist kept it's features hidden, but once it had been spotted, the creature jumped back over the side of the boat and back into the water. "A distraction!"

These creatures were intelligent.

"Master... only one of them is singing in Greek... the rest of them are singing in some other language."

"Where did they go?" Melusine asked when she turned back around and all of the monsters had their heads back underwater. Their yellow eyes were glowing beneath the surface of the stillness, and the numbers of eyes were far more than previously.

The singing stopped.

The monsters went under the water so deep that even their eyes weren't visible anymore.

The mist started to clear.

A single monster, a beautiful woman with the lower body of a fish, was seen sitting on a rock as the mist was clearing. She and Naruto made direct eye contact, and Naruto saw that she was holding a half-melted child on her tail, and she was smearing the same slime from earlier onto an open wound the child had.

The monster ducked down and went under the water, after jumping off the rock with the child.

"Master..."

"We didn't panic... we didn't panic or fall for it's song. Still... nobody lower your guard. It might follow us and attack when we least expect it... but for now... it seems to be letting us go." Naruto felt a deep sense of relief that he knew he shouldn't be feeling. The creature waited for days on end to attack them, and did everything it could to cause tension.

They didn't panic.

They didn't fall for it's song, it's hypnotism, and they didn't panic. They didn't portray themselves as somebody the Siren wanted to mess with.

*Ding*

Out of the water, a small golden chunk of metal landed on the ship.

"Antamoiví."

"Reward?" Atalanta asked in confusion when she picked up the piece of golden metal, a sing song voice had spoken that word from the water. Naruto looked at it with narrowed eyes, because he didn't trust something an enemy called a reward.

He would have Tamamo look at it later.

Until then, he wanted this ship OUT of these waters and back on course ASAP.
