As soon as they stepped into the pitch black room, they found everything around being casted into fluorescent light. The PictoChat was empty except for the two, their slow footsteps echoing around the expansive space. The glowing canvas right behind where they were walking, which normally had some sort of moving image doodled upon its surface, was completely blank.

On the sign directly below, a series of pixelated words appeared, the stage acknowledging their presence. Now Entering: Link and Zelda, it read.

"So what are we doing here?" Zelda inquired. "We here to do some training for the tournament that's starting up again?"

Link smiled back over at her and replied, "It's a surprise. You'll see in a few seconds."

As the princess waited patiently for the surprise he had planned to be unveiled to her, walked over to the far right corner of the luminous stage. He spotted the small panel near the very edge of it and bent over to press several icons that were located in that spot, careful not to accidentally fall from where he stood. Once he completed what he needed to do, he ran back over to where she was waiting.

"Watch the screen," Link said to her.

Zelda remained still as a thin black line form on the bottom of the stage's screen. "What is this?" she asked.

She watched as that line started to make a loop and draw itself downwards, and she realized that it wasn't just some random shape being made. Something was being spelled out in cursive.

Several seconds went by, and the words "Love you forever" were now written out before her. Zelda chuckled and smiled back at who was standing directly beside her.

"Love you, too," she said both quietly and cheerfully.

Link pointed at the screen once again. "That's not all. It's getting to the part I wanted you to see."

Directly above where the message had been drawn out in black, an outline of something appeared in the middle of the glowing pixelated canvas. Zelda quickly saw that it was a face that was being drawn out.

Watching patiently for just a little bit longer, she found out that it wasn't just anyone's face.

It was hers.

Splashes of color finally started to appear as her long blonde hair was drawn on top of the face on the screen, which was done in a way that was surprisingly realistic, as if she were looking at her own portrait or photograph. A smile was drawn on her face, and her stunning blue eyes were given some more detail.

As Zelda looked in amazement, eyes all aglow and her mouth hanging open, she saw Link's name being signed in the bottom corner of the realistic sketch.

"I know it isn't much," Link said as he shuffled his feet, "but I hope-"

"It's amazing!" she cried out of excitement, turning around and hugging him as she continued to gaze at the work of art on the canvas before her. "I can't believe... I mean, y-you made this?"

"Yep," replied Link with pride in his work.

"All by yourself?"

He nodded his head and let out a sigh, smiling back at her. "Yep. It wasn't easy getting used to working across that thing, but turns out I have more of an artistic bone in my body than I thought."

Link didn't tell her about just how many hours laboriously went into creating the masterpiece she saw before her. While visualizing what he wanted to be drawn onto the canvas was the easy part, using that screen turned out to be more of a challenge than he originally thought going into it. The brushes, a majority of the time, didn't work the wayy he wanted them, and he had a great deal of frustration when he accidentally erased his work midway into its completion, leading him to start all over again.

All of the time that went into it, though, was time well spent. Seeing Zelda's smile made the effort he put in all worth while.

The twinkling sound of bells filled the room around them, echoing eerily against the empty walls and causing them to stay silent for an instant.

Now Entering: Pit and Incineroar, the room's screen now read.

"What the-" Link muttered to himself, looking around the room. He was pretty sure that nobody was going to want to be in this place except for him and the princess.

Perhaps he thought wrong, because now an angel and a Pokemon were now running from the far corner of the space over to them.

"Hey, Link!" Pit exclaimed as he approached him, waving a hand in the air to get his full attention. "Hope you're ready to lose another round of-" He paused a moment upon seeing that the princess was also standing there. "Hi there, Zelda. Didn't expect to see you here."

Link looked at the princess and innocently chuckled, gesturing for her to wait a moment before whispering into Pit's ear. "What are doing here?" he hissed quietly. "Princess Zelda and I were spending some time here with no one but the two of us."

The angel sagged his head and answered, "Well, sorry, but you didn't forget about the rematch, did ya? I thought you, Incineroar, and I we're gonna go against each other in that game we played before. You know, the game where we gotta guess what the other person's drawing on the-"

"I know which game you're talking about," Link interrupted, "but now is not a good time."

"Actually, that game Pit was talking about sounds like fun," Zelda remarked, chiming into the conversation after overhearing it. "I'd be up to play it wit you guys, if that's alright."

"R-Really?" Pit inquired with a smile. "Okay then. You can totally join in."

Zelda giggled and replied, "Great. You know what would make it even more fun? If we played as two different teams. You and Incineroar versus me and Link."

The angel nodded his head, going along with the princess's great idea. "It's on!" he remarked. Looking back at Incineroar, he asked, "What do you think about that idea?"

"Incineroar!" roared the Pokemon standing to the left of him, pumping a fist in the air.

Zelda clapped excitedly. "Oh, I can't wait to get started. So, Pit, what are the rules to this game?"

"Well, there's not much to it..." Pit began to explain.

Link facepalmed and shook his head, feeling somewhat disappointed at the fact that the romantic moment he was sharing with the one he loved was suddenly interrupted.

Well, the stillness was nice while it lasted, Link thought before shrugging his shoulders, quickly changing his mind upon looking over and seeing the enthusaistic expression on Zelda's face.

"Oh, what the heck?" he said to himself. "If Zelda's happy and smiling, then I'll join in for another round of this ridiculous game Pit made up."

Author's Note: Hey there, everybody! With today being Valentine's Day, there's never been a better time for me to sit down and write something involving a romantic pairing. And what better pairing to write about than Link and Zelda? :)

Also, I know it's been a long time since I've written something new about the Smashers, but I hadn't been able to come up with any new ideas for a short while. Now that I've gotten past that writerly blockade, I have been working on some more stories about them and can't wait to share them soon. :)

Anyway, hope you liked this short story I wrote for today. I know that it was on the sorter side and wasn't the most exciting thing I've written, but I still hope it was an enjoyable little read. As always, let me know what your thoughts are on this. Your feedback, whether good or bad, is gladly appreciated.

Happy Valentine's Day! :)
