OtVoM: Chapter 5
Author's Note: This is the second chapter that I need to toss up an M rating to, except it's only one reason and not several. Just thought you should know! Like last time, the uncensored version of this chapter will be on AO3, sorry!
It was now much later in the day in Peach Creek; with it now being 9 pm at night. The news of the kidnapping and hostage situation that happened in both Peach Creek and Sunflower Shoal spread like wildfire, both on the local news and going viral online.
Both the Peach Creek and Sunflower Shoal police departments stopped an escaped convict named Evan McGee before he could rape a young woman and kill her along with her boyfriend. The police gave all the credit to the woman's boyfriend and his quick thinking for saving her life while they took care of the suspect, shooting him down before he could harm the young couple anymore.
Naturally, the news did not mention either Eddy or Zoey by name for privacy reasons; but their neighbors knew. Considering who the suspect was and what happened in the past, it was obvious the news was talking about them. Eddy and Zoey's six closest friends quickly went to visit them both at Zoey's house once they heard what happened on the 9 o'clock news.
The first friend of theirs to approach them was Ed with his trademark Ed-Hug, "Eddy! Zoey!" He cried as he gave them his hug, "I'm so happy you're both okay!"
Zoey could hear her best friend and next-door neighbor Jennifer start to cry in relief, with her boyfriend Double D sitting next to her, trying to comfort her, "I'm so sorry that this happened to you! I-I should have paid more attention outside, I could have stopped him!"
"Jennifer, it's okay," Zoey replied to her, "This is not your fault. Please don't blame yourself."
Ed then lets Eddy and Zoey out of his hug, giving them a chance to breathe from his Ed-Hug. His girlfriend Serena patted him on his back afterward to try and make him feel better.
Marie looked at Eddy, "So, how does it feel to be the hero again? Hopefully for the last time."
Eddy made a sigh, "Not that great, honestly. I hate that this even happened at all, but I'm happy it's finally all over."
"Well, that's good to hear," Matthew stated to him before making a sad face, "But I think we're all forgetting something else that happened this morning…"
The others looked at him with slight confusion, but Zoey knew what he was saying, "Don't worry… I-I know," she started to say in sadness, "My dad, h-he's…"
Zoey could feel herself being pulled into a hug by Eddy, trying to comfort her again.
"I know it was wrong for both my father and I to keep how bad his health was to ourselves," Zoey continued to say, "We wanted to tell you all when we heard the diagnosis but did not know how to break the news… And then, when mom died, he just gave up on wanting to get better."
"It'll be okay, Zoey," Double D stated to her, "But now I'm curious to know; what are you going to do now?"
Everyone looked at him, "What do you mean?" Serena asked.
Double D made a sad sigh, "If both of Zoey's parents are gone, how will she still be able to live here? Won't she have to move away to another relative's home? She can't move to her aunt and uncle like last time; they moved away a year ago, remember?"
There was an intense moment of silence at what Double D said, he was right.
"… O-Oh god, I didn't even think of that…" Zoey stated in sadness, trembling a little at the thought, "I-I might have to—"
"Zoey, no! You are staying here, no matter what!"
Everyone widened their eyes at Eddy, who had let Zoey out of his hug so he could face her, "We're all so close to graduating high school! It can't end like this for us!" they could see a few tears started to form in his eyes, "I-If there is a way for you to stay, I'll find one! I promise!"
"… T-Thank you, Eddy, but let's not kid ourselves here," Zoey said to him with a sad smile. She got up from where she was sitting, trying to avoid looking at everyone, "There's no way that can happen, I'm so sorry."
Zoey then ran off to her room upstairs, crying as she did. Eddy could only sit there as she ran off; it felt like his whole world had come crashing down on him once again, just like the time she broke the news to him that she was going to move back to Sunflower Shoal. Obviously, that did not end up happening, her parents did not tell her they bought this house while she was away. But during the hours that Zoey broke the news to him until they found out she and her parents were moving into this house, Eddy's heart was severely broken. And now that same feeling had come back; and since they have been a couple for a few years, the feeling felt even worse than before.
Eddy started to get up from where he was sitting, "Sorry, I'm gonna go home," he said to his friends, "Tell Zoey I'll try to be back here later, okay?"
That was when he dashed out of Zoey's house, leaving behind his friends, all of them looked extremely worried; both for Eddy and Zoey.
After Eddy ran back to his house and entered his room from his back door, he could hear his cell phone in his pocket start to ring. He took out his phone to see who was calling; it was his mother. He answered the call nervously, "Hello…?"
"E-EDDY!" He could hear his mother shout to him before hearing her burst into tears, "W-We were just informed about what happened with Zoey and Evan! Are you and Zoey alright? Is everything okay now?!"
"Y-Yeah… Yeah, everything's okay now," Eddy said to her, "He was shot down before he could really harm any of us… He's dead. I'm sorry I didn't call you after it happened… I didn't really know what to say."
"I-It's alright, honey! You don't need to apologize!" his mother stated to him before making a sigh of relief, "Your dad and I are leaving to come home right now; we will be back home by tomorrow afternoon."
"O-Okay…" Eddy muttered before he thought about something, "… Hey, mom?"
"Yes, dear?"
"Umm… Do you think it's, uh… Is it possible if I can live with Zoey at her house for a while?"
Eddy then explained the other thing he learned from Zoey last night and what happened earlier this morning before the incident with Evan.
"O-Oh my goodness!" his mother gasped after he finished explaining, "That's just awful! The poor dear…"
There was a small pause between them before one of them spoke back up, "We'll see what your father and I can do to help when we get back home. Everything will be alright, I promise."
Eddy widened his eyes in shock.
"In the meantime, please try to help her recover," she continued to say, "We'll let you stay over at her house for tonight to help her out if she needs anything. Besides, tomorrow is her birthday, isn't it? Please go and stay by Zoey's side for now. Like we've said before, she's a part of our family too."
"… Okay, thanks Mom," Eddy said as they both hung up their cell phones. He started to walk over to his closet, taking out a suitcase from it and placing it on his bed as he did.
Eddy started to gather a few clothes and a few other things for staying at Zoey's house tonight. As he continued to do so, he glanced back at his nightstand, remembering what he was keeping hidden inside it at the back of his drawer. He walked over to it to take out what he had hidden.
"I should probably throw these away, honestly," Eddy said to himself before making a sigh, putting the wrappers he held in his back pocket, "It's not gonna happen, especially after what happened today. I don't want to ever make her uncomfortable like that."
It only took a few more minutes for Eddy to pack the things he needed for the night, but decided to wait until it was 10:30 pm to go back to Zoey's house, mainly to give her some time alone. He picked up the suitcase and locked his back door before walking back over to Zoey's house. Once he arrived back, he knocked on her door to see if she or his friends were in her living room or not, they did not respond. Eddy took out Zoey's spare house key to go inside, locking the door back as he did. He could see his friends had left her house by now to go back home for the day. It was very late at night now, so it did not surprise him.
'Zoey must still be upstairs,' he thought to himself in sadness.
Leaving his suitcase downstairs, Eddy went upstairs to Zoey's room to check on her. He could hear Zoey very clearly behind her door, crying her eyes out from all that's happened today. Eddy knocked on her door before opening it to come inside. He could see Zoey lying down on her bed, facing away from both the door and him. She was not underneath her sheets and still had her daily attire on.
Eddy started to walk over to her after closing her door behind, "E-Eddy?" Zoey questioned when she noticed he was now in her room, "I thought you went going to stay back at your house…"
Eddy sat down next to her on her bed, "I was, but I came back to check on you, as well as stay here for the night."
"… Huh?"
"My mom called me a moment ago after hearing what happened this morning to check on us," Eddy explained, "I told her about what happened with your dad, and, well… Both my parents gave me permission to stay here tonight to help you if you need anything."
"T-That's… That's very sweet of them to do," Zoey muttered a little before making a sad sigh, closing her eyes as she did, "But that only solves the problem for tonight. What about every other night from now on? I'm pretty sure I can't live alone since I'm a high schooler, Senior or not… I-I might have to move!" she could feel herself trembling once again, "What a fucking awful birthday!"
She could feel Eddy's hand on her shoulder, trying to comfort her. Zoey opened her eyes to look at him, only to see something that made her widen her eyes; Eddy was now lying on her bed, trying to keep a bit of distance between them and respecting her boundaries.
"Everything will be okay now, Zoey," Eddy said to her with a smile, "I promised you earlier that I'll do everything I can to help you stay here, and that's what I'm going to do."
Zoey started to blush a very deep red across her face, her heart could not stop racing, "O-Oh, Eddy…"
Before they knew what came over them, they both started to embrace each other as they were lying on her bed. They continued to lay there for a few minutes with Eddy trying to comfort Zoey the best he could as she sobbed into his shoulder in grief. Eventually, Zoey and Eddy separated from their hug to look at each other, both blushing. They could feel their hearts beating faster and faster as they looked into each other's eyes.
"You know, your eyes haven't changed at all," Eddy started to say to her, "They're still the same bright blue eyes I saw on the day I met you."
"I would say the same to you, but that's a lie," Zoey replied, "I could tell your blue eyes used to be a lot colder, but now they are more kind and peaceful."
"… I guess I have you to thank for that," Eddy said to her. Zoey smiled back at him.
There was a bit of silence between the two before Eddy started to talk again, "U-Umm… Zoey?"
"Yeah?" She questioned him. Zoey could see him starting to act a little nervous about something as he sat back up to sit on her bed normally.
"I-I know your birthday is tomorrow, but I couldn't think of anything to get for you as a present…" Eddy started to say before reaching into his back pocket to show Zoey what he had, "S-So I went to the store the other day, a-and I… I bought these."
Zoey looked to see what he had in his hand; it was two condoms in their wrappers. She widened her eyes, looking back up at him, "Eddy…?"
"I-I was going to ask you about it for your birthday, but then all this awful stuff happened…" he sighed a little, "I don't think it would be a good idea right now, and I don't think we're ready for that kind of thing yet," Eddy continued to say, "Don't even know why I even bothered buying them. But I thought you should know what I was thinking about, I didn't want to keep it a secret from you. It wouldn't be right."
There was a harsh silence between the two for a few seconds before being broken.
"It's okay, we can do it."
Eddy widened his eyes in complete shock, "H-Huh?!"
He looked back to Zoey to see she her also rise from her bed to sit next to him, "I-I was also thinking about it a few times, even before I started having those awful nightmares," Zoey said to him, looking away from him in a shy way, "I was just never sure if you were thinking the same thing as me."
She looked back to Eddy with a warm smile, "I also want you to know that I'm happy you asked me. It tells me how much you truly care about me, and…" Zoey started to blush even more at him before saying, "One of the last things my dad said to me was that he was sad he could not be around to see our futures together. He told me to tell you that he gives his blessings for you to marry me; if that's what we both want," she held his hand tightly, "And that IS something I want, much later on when the time is right."
Eddy was speechless to her. He thought for sure she would say no or yell at him for having this idea at all, "A-Are you sure…?"
Zoey nodded her head, "Yes, I am."
"I-I, umm… Okay."
They both smiled at each other before going to sit on the different sides of her bed. They started to take off their clothes as both of their hearts pounded out of their chests at what they were about to do. Eddy took one of the wrappers he had, looking at it and reading it carefully on how to use it properly, 'I don't want to mess anything up,' he thought.
He then unwrapped it and started to put it on, turning back to Zoey after doing so. Eddy could see her sitting there on the other side of her bed, her back was turned away for a moment before she turned around to him. He could see her full body now; this time in a not-so-life-threatening situation, not to mention it was not cold in the room, unlike the other time. She really was a beautiful woman now, but that was not a reason why he loved her so much. It was because they both cared about each other, and that was never going to change.
They both blushed at each other as they got underneath her sheets to lie down. They started to passionately kiss, embracing each other in their arms to gently feel their bodies. They were still extremely nervous about this, but they continued what they were doing. Both their hearts and minds were racing at the speed of light, with Eddy's heart beating the fastest and Zoey's mind racing the most; what they were feeling and experiencing now was not forceful or violent at all like in the nightmares Zoey had about Eddy's brother. It made them both happy and relieved, realizing that Evan was just a psychopath; even if it was already obvious that was the case. They continued for about three minutes or so before they both finally stopped. They did not want to overdo it their first time, and they started to feel tired anyway. They looked at each other, blushing and smiling as they did.
"U-Umm… A-Are you alright?" Eddy asked.
"Y-Yeah, I'm okay…" Zoey replied.
They sighed at themselves, each of them thinking the same thing, 'We finally did it.'
They both continued to lay there in the bed before deciding to put their underwear back on to properly sleep for the night. Eddy looked over to Zoey, noticing she did not put her tank top on when she got back under her sheets, she was going to sleep in just her underwear without a bra for her tank top on. He was a little surprised by this but quickly brushed it aside, laying back down with her in her bed.
A few seconds passed before Zoey started to talk, "U-Umm…"
"Hmm?"
"I-I know what we did just now was, you know, a little sudden," Zoey said to him, "But don't get used to it, please. I know you asked about it so you could cheer me up for my birthday, but…"
"Don't worry, I know," Eddy replied to her, "I don't plan on doing this again until we're both older, I promise."
Zoey smiled in relief at that, "… Thank you so much, Eddy. I love you."
They both started to fall asleep, but not before Eddy could feel Zoey hug him tightly as they did. He could only smile as he finally fell asleep, 'I love you so much too, Zoey.'
