"Get him!" a man says as he aims a gun at a German Shepherd.

"Chase, look out!" a Dalmatian shouts. The Shepherd dodges.

"Thanks, Marshall," Chase says as he pulls his taser out and shocks one of the criminals. Just as he's about to electrocute another one, a bullet hits its mark, causing a mess of blood everywhere.

"CHASE!" Marshall shouts as he electrocutes the remaining criminals. "Chase, can you hear me?! HELP! HELP!".

He woke up in a hospital bed, with all his friends beside him.

"Chase, how do you feel?" a cockapoo asks. Just as he's about to answer, the Electrocardiogram flatlines, causing doctors to rush in. They try to help, but it's no use. Chase then dies.

"No, no, no, no, NOOO!" The cockapoo shouts.

"We tried our best Skye," Zuma says.

"No," Marshall says to himself as he moves to the body.

"Oh no…" Ryder says as he moves where Marshall is.

Later that day:

At the cemetery, everyone was gathered around Chase's grave. The engraving says:

Chase Barker

Born-October 29, 2006

Died-October 27, 2023

"I miss him," Skye said.

"We all do," Ryder said "but there was nothing we could do. We tried though.". Everyone left except Skye, who stood there for a while longer.

"I'm sorry I couldn't help you," she says as she walks away, not realizing what will happen.

Chase pov:

It felt cold here, I looked around, finding myself in a coffin. How could that be?, I think to myself, then I realize what happened. The bullet, the blood, the hospital, I remember now, I think to myself. Oh my gosh, Skye's probably worried and sad about this, I think as I float up through the ground.

I did die then, I say as I look at my gravestone. I looked around, seeing all the gravestones around me, then looked at the lookout. I float over to my old doghouse, smiling a bit at the memories I had, making the tapes, being with Skye, having fun, those were the good days. I stay there for the night, though not sleeping, cause I'm a ghost.

Skye pov:

Yesterday was the worst day of my life. Chase dying in front of me, the funeral, everything, and I didn't even want to play Pup Pup Boogie, my favorite game. I just stayed in my dog house, not eating, not drinking, only laying there. I didn't even come out for dog treats.

"You ok Skye?" Everest asked as she walked to my dog house.

"No," I reply.

"Why not?" she asked me.

"I don't want to talk about it," I said.

"It's alright, you can tell me," Everest said nicely.

"It's, just…" I say, "Chase died in front of me and I had to go to his funeral, and now I'm sad,".

"Oh, that's bad, I know how much you loved Chase," Everest said.

"Yeah," I say as I start laying again.

"Wanna play?" she asked me.

"Yeah, I should cheer up a bit, so yeah," I say as I start to head to the field.

Marshall pov:

"Look, Everest made Skye get out of her dog house," I say.

"Yeah, Everest is something, isn't she," Rocky said.

"Yeah," I say as I let out a long sigh.

"You love her, don't you?" Zuma said as he walked up.

"What?! No, we're just best friends!" I say in embarrassment.

"Yeah, right," Rocky said sarcastically, "it's obvious you have feelings for her.". It's true, I really do, it's just, that I don't want to love someone, only to die afterward, as Chase had. Speaking of Chase, I miss him a ton, since we were brothers in everything but blood. Blood, so much blood, I think as I heard myself say that word.

Last night was the worst in my life. All that blood, everywhere, me rushing to help him, Chase dying in front of me like that, I didn't want to think about it. Good thing Rubble spoke up.

"Hey, it's chow time!" Rubble said as he walked to his bowl. Good thing too, since I had started to think about how I would die.

Rocky pov:

I walked to my food bowl, which had bacon-flavored kibble in it and started to eat. I looked over at Chase's old bowl, thinking about him. I walked over to his dog house, which felt colder than usual. I then walked over to his food bowl, still empty from yesterday. Ryder was thinking about adding a new pup to replace Chase, but no other pup worked as well as Chase had.

I heard munching sounds from my food bowl, thinking Rubble was trying to get seconds.

"Rubble stop… that…" I say as I see my dog food disappearing from its bowl, like something invisible was eating it. "RYDER!" I shout as I run away into the lookout. "Guys, something's… eating my food… and I'm not sure what it is…" I say as I pant.

"Rocky, what's wrong?" Ryder asks me.

"Something… a ghost… is eating… my food…" I reply as I keep panting.

"Let's check this out," Ryder says as he walks over to my food bowl. "You must have not gotten food," he says as he gets me more food, "but let's stay and see what happens,". We wait and wait and wait, but nothing happens. "You probably imagined things, come on, let's get some sleep,".

I know I didn't imagine things, but maybe I'm just sleep-deprived, after all, I did work hard earlier today. Let's hope it's the second thing.
