It was a warm and sunny day, a stark contrast to the dreadful stormy night a year ago on which the Battle of Hogwarts had taken place. The wizarding world had come a long way since that fateful day, and the scars of the past had slowly begun to heal.
On this anniversary, Harry Potter often referred to as the Man-Who-Conquered or the Gryffindor Golden Boy and his long time girlfriend Daphne Greengrass, the Slytherin Ice Queen had decided to spend the day in a way that held profound importance for the pair. They strolled towards the rusty old gates of Godric's Hollow, where Harry's parents had made the ultimate sacrifice. They laid down a beautiful wreath made of lilies and white roses over the graves of his parents.
As the pair stood there in quiet peacefulness, Harry's thoughts turned to all the people who had played a pivotal role in his life whose knowledge, love and experiences had shaped him to become Lord Potter-Black. He had lost so much in his life, his parents, Sirius, Remus and Tonks. His sombre mood, was interrupted when Daphne laced his fingers with her own and kissed him on his lips. He couldn't understand how she would always understand whenever he was brooding. He took a deep breath and turned towards Daphne and said "I can't help but think about all we've been through, the sacrifices and the hardships. But we've also found love, happiness, and a future together."
Daphne nodded, her eyes filled with love and understanding. "It's a day to remember the past and cherish the present, Harry. We've come a long way." Harry thanked all the gods and goddesses for sending Daphne to him and just silently prayed that tonight she would finally become his. Yes, Harry Potter had planned on proposing to Daphne Greengrass tonight.
As the sun began to set, they walked towards 12 Grimmauld Place, a candlelit dinner with the best elven wines prepared by Kreacher and Dobby awaited them. The house was a charming, centuries-old building with a thatched roof, white-washed walls, and small, leaded windows that let in the soft, warm light of the setting sun. A profusion of colorful flowers adorned the lawn in front, and the air was filled with the sweet scent of blooming roses and lavender.
Entering inside they were both greeted by a rather cheerful Kreacher, "Welcome back Master and Miss Daphne, Kreacher and Dobby have both prepared an incredibly delicious candelit dinner for both of you just as Master Harry has asked." Harry thanked both of them and looking at their tired yet happy faces he said, "Thank you Kreacher and Dobby, you've decorated the house beautifully and I'm sure the dinner would be just as good. Please take a rest for the evening."
The grand chandelier in the Black family dining room was adorned with floating candles that cast a soft, warm glow. The long dining table was set for a romantic candlelit dinner, a sight that took Daphne by surprise. She had no idea that Harry had arranged such an elaborate feast. Seeing Daphne's awed expression he pressed a small kiss on her lips startling her back to senses.
Their conversation meandered through various topics, reminiscing and sharing dreams. The first course, prepared by Kreacher and Dobby, was a delicious tomato and basil soup. They spoke about their Hogwarts years, laughter and camaraderie, recalling amusing moments with friends. Daphne's eyes sparkled as she shared stories about her time in Slytherin, her friends, and how they used to sneak into the restricted section of the library. The main course consisted of perfectly roasted lamb with a rich red wine sauce and a medley of seasonal vegetables. The exquisite meal was a testament to the culinary talents of the house-elves. While savoring the food, they discussed their futures and shared dreams.
Dessert arrived in the form of a decadent chocolate fondue with fresh fruits and pastries for dipping and Harry's favourite Treacle Tart. They talked about their desire to build a home and create a family, expressing their hopes and expectations for what lay ahead.
As they were doing their last sips of their wine, Harry said "Daph, you've been my back bone throughout all the challenges and adventures of my life. You've shown me the beauty of life after darkness, and I cherish every moment we spend together. Every laugh, every dream, and every shared experience has only strengthened the love I feel for you. I can't imagine a future without you by my side, Daphne. You're my anchor, my love, and my partner in this incredible journey we call life." While saying this Harry had gotten down to one knee and took out a delicate purple box which contained his mother's beautiful engagement ring. Daphne gasped and her eyes started shimmering with joy and happiness. Harry said "Daphne, will you make me the happiest wizard by becoming the next Lady Potter-Black?"
Daphne lost in emotion couldn't speak even if she wanted to do she happily nodded a dozen times and then Harry slid the ring into her fingers. But she didn't let go of Harry and kissed him passionately making his toes curl. Gasping for air, their foreheads touched and she said, "That's a yes by the way Mr. Potter." Both of them were so lost in each other and they did not notice a soft glow emitting their bodies, which meant Magic had sealed their bond forever.
Daphne looked towards Harry and said, "Ooh, I can't wait to marry you Harry. But don't you forget that we'll also have tell my parents, the Weasleys, Malfoys soon, won't we? I can't wait to see the look on their faces. I suggest we host the next get together here and then announce. I'd love to see their surprised faces, especially Draco's when he sees that I am marrying his childhood nemesis" she laughed just thinking about his face.
Harry simply smiled and pulled her closer, "Yes Daph that sounds like a brilliant idea. Malfoy would be perplexed." They walked through the lawn, their hands intertwined and hearts filled with happiness with a promise of a bright future together. The evening air was cool and refreshing, and they paused to look at the stars, making wishes for their future aplenty.
