Today at lunch Rosalie decided it was time to twist the knife again.
I sat dejected as she subjected me to a stream of mental vitriol about how selfish I was, how worried everyone is, how much I have hurt Carlisle, how scared they all are that I will snap, or get so lost in my thoughts and become so still in public that I reveal us all.
Her loudest thoughts were of how unfair it is to read everyone's thoughts but refuse to speak or respond. As I got up to leave I said "You're right. I'm sorry."
I hope the shock on her face meant she realised I mean it.
