Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon Sailor Stars: Rebirth
Act 13: We Have the Strength to Carry On
Sora Kazeno
Large black bolts of energy race toward the four senshi. At the last moment, Sailor Star Fighter grabs Sailor Moon to jump over the blast. Sailor Star Healer and Sailor Star Maker dodge to opposite sides.
Sailor Star Maker's arm is clipped by the energy blast. She cries out slightly in pain as the energy stings her flesh. If she was slightly faster, she would have avoided the entire attack.
After hearing Maker's shout, Healer turns to her teammate, "are you okay?"
"It's minor," Sailor Star Maker immediately brushes it off, moving her arm to show she is okay. She bits her cheek to downplay how much that movement actually hurt. It is going to bothersome for a while.
Sailor Star Fighter and Sailor Moon land in between Healer and Maker.
Sailor Moon stares out ahead of her unable to focus on Queen Beryl.
Fighter turns to the Moon Princes, "you have to fight back Sailor Moon or all of us will be in danger."
"It's not that easy," Sailor Moon murmurs. Any confidence she tried to gather earlier was fleeting. She can't take her eyes off the other senshi's bodies nearby.
Sailor Star Healer is not as patient. "You have to get it together. What happened to finishing what you started, no matter what it takes?" She glares at Sailor Moon waiting for a response.
Sailor Moon blinks a few times. She looks at the Starlights. They survived Bunyko City to help her. They even left their home, Kinmoku, to help her. She closes her eyes for a moment. She can repay their kindness by making sure this battle ends. She can't try to save the others unless she stops Queen Beryl and standing around here will not accomplish anything.
The Starlights have their backs facing Queen Beryl to address Sailor Moon. Beryl uses this to her advantage; she quickly attacks with a smaller energy amount. She couldn't waste time gathering more energy and risk the senshi catching on to her actions.
Sailor Moon is the only one that can see Queen Beryl's movements. She doesn't hesitate. She rushes in front of the Starlights, and turns around to face them so her back will take the brunt of the attack. She shields them from injury and tries her best to suppress the scream but fails.
The dark energy is enough to shatter her feathered wings into pieces and most of the hair out one of her odangos becomes undone. Sailor Moon collapses to the ground, breathing heavily, her eyes on the ground.
"…why would you do that…" Sailor Star Healer stares at her. "We're supposed to protect you."
"I don't want anyone important to be hurt again…" Sailor Moon whispers. "I've already lost everyone else. I can lose the Starlights too."
Sailor Star Fighter's is frustrated. "Don't be so reckless. If we don't protect you, how are you going to stop Queen Beryl?" She kneels down next to Sailor Moon. Her expression softens, "but you've always been really stubborn."
Sailor Moon smiles slightly.
Sailor Star Maker turns to face Queen Beryl for a few moments and realizes another attack is on the way. The evil queen is relentless. "Incoming!"
Sailor Star Fighter grabs Sailor Moon to help her get out of harms away.
But Sailor Moon is still as klutzy as ever and manages to trip as she stands up with Fighter. As she struggles to regain her balance she pushes forward into Fighter, knocking the Starlight over.
"Move out of the way!" Fighter yells a warning at Sailor Moon as she tries to scramble to her feet.
The blast rushes between the two of them and Sailor Moon is blown several meters to the right of the Starlights, separating them.
Sailor Moon slowly sits up, she can't believe she tripped on her feet at a time like that. She stumbles a little; amazed she is still somehow upright. Everything hurts. She glances at the Starlights to make sure they are okay before she turns her attention to Queen Beryl. Her eyes widen in panic.
Queen Beryl is not going to wait around. While Sailor Moon was separated from the Starlights by the attack, Queen Beryl rushed over to Sailor Moon and is inches from her face by the time the Moon Princess notices.
Sailor Moon barely has time to utter a surprised gasp.
Queen Beryl grabs Sailor Moon by the throat and begins to squeeze. Sneering at her prey, "You were weak in your past life and you are still weak in this one."
Sailor Moon can barely breathe as Queen Beryl's grasps tightens with each passing second. "… I won't give up."
Queen Beryl slams Sailor Moon's body onto the ground. "I'll make you wish you were never reborn!" She smiles. "I'll enjoy killing you."
The Starlights start to run over to Sailor Moon and Queen Beryl as they realize what is taking place.
The Queen looks at the Starlights and with her left hand she gestures with her fingers and a black wall appears in front them. The wall quickly expands from the front to all around them, including above their heads. They are sealed in a domed structure.
"What is this?" Sailor Star Healer looks at the wall. She doesn't want to touch it just yet. She remembered the barrier Sailor Galaxia used and imagines this is similar.
Sailor Star Fighter is not as patient as the white haired Starlight. She tries to hit the barrier with her fist. The barrier is unmoving. She tries again and is met with the same result.
Sailor Star Maker glances at Sailor Star Healer and with a mere gesture, the two attack in unison.
"Star Gentile Uterus!"
"Star Sensitive Inferno!"
Fighter comes to her senses and does the same. "Star Serious Laser!"
The barrier remains unfazed. The barrier seemed to absorb their energy.
They are too exhausted to discharge an attack at full strength. It begins to sink in they are stuck and all that can do is watch unless they can find a way out.
"There has to be something we can do!" Sailor Star Fighter looks to Sailor Star Maker for an answer. A plan, something, anything to break them out of this dome. Sailor Moon shouldn't have to face Queen Beryl alone when they are right here. The three of them can't be barricaded from the fight. Fighter can't be sidelined at a time like this.
Sailor Star Maker frowns. "It looks like we're trapped here until we find a way to break the barrier. Our attacks didn't work." It was a moment like this that Maker wishes she had a mini computer or visor like Sailor Mercury to analyze the energy for some kind of weakness. She is starting to appreciate what Mercury was able to bring to the group.
"It looks like no matter what we try, we cannot change the prophecy…" Sailor Star Healer is angry at the sense of helplessness. Everything is still coming true. Her quiet voice rises in anger. "Are we supposed to be powerless to save them? Did we just come here to watch them die?" There has to be more to it than this.
"No!" Sailor Star Fighter shouts, this is unacceptable. Not when Sailor Moon is so close. "I want to believe that somehow, we helped the others." Her eyes focus on Sailor Moon. "We have to believe in Sailor Moon."
Sailor Star Healer repeats slowly as she recalls having a similar conversation before. "Believe…."
Sailor Star Maker manages a small smile. "We are resting all of our hopes on her once again." She looks over at Sailor Moon, starting to understand more of Usagi's outburst. "She really does have the weight of the world on her shoulders… it's just like the other girls mentioned." She is quiet for a moment, reflecting on several things. "It seems to happen often."
Sailor Star Fighter is only half listening to their conversation; she is focused on the battle. She watches Sailor Moon carefully hoping she can stop Queen Beryl on her own until they can break free from this barrier.
Sailor Moon rubs her throat. She glances over at the Starlights and sees them trapped within a black dome of energy. It reminded of one she was imprisoned in by Kunzite when Sailor Venus first appeared. "Leave them alone!"
"I've waited too long for this moment and I won't let anyone interfere. They are not worthy of my time. Let them witness the destruction of this planet." Queen Beryl's hair blows in the wind as a breeze begins to pick up. "Earth will be mine tonight!"
Sailor Moon narrows her eyes at Queen Beryl. She slowly stands up, clutching her crescent moon wand in her hand, the key to defeating Queen Beryl. She needs a moment for her heart to stop racing. "We could have all lived in peace, that was all we ever wanted but you had to attack the Silver Millennium."
"Peace?" Queen Beryl angrily interrupts. "How could we do that? Queen Serenity ruined the Earth." She reminisces. "Earth had its own kingdom and government, we all did! No one opposed Queen Serenity for so long because she had the crystal, but you're not her. You'll never be as strong as your mother." Her tone becomes arrogant. "If she couldn't stop me, why do you think you stand a chance? What makes you so different?"
Sailor Moon doesn't respond to Queen Beryl. She looks at the three trapped Starlights. She looks at the bodies of her friends and Tuxedo Kamen. "She could have stopped you but she used her energy to ensure we were reborn. She made sure I could become a senshi, should something happen. She made sure I was granted powers strong enough to stop you." She looks down at the crescent moon wand that once belonged to her mother.
Queen Beryl glares at her. "You think she was holding back against me? Impossible! She was weak. That is why her kingdom was destroyed! You are just as weak and once you are gone, I can take my rightful place as the ruler of this planet!" Queen Beryl's eyes flash red as she threatens the Moon Princess.
"Never!" Sailor Moon shouts back. She won't let everything end like this. She vows to have a different outcome.
Queen Beryl laughs at her response. She is done talking to senshi of the Moon. The orb on her staff glows brightly and black energy shoots out of it in the direction of Sailor Moon.
Sailor Moon manages to the dodge the attacks. She can't be caught by Queen Beryl now. She points her wand at Beryl. "I'm going to end this."
The Queen laughs again at her feeble attempt. "That wand is useless without the Ginzuishou. You don't even have it!"
It is Sailor Moon's turn to smile. "The crystal is always with me." She places her left hand tightly on her brooch. Seconds later her transformation as Eternal Sailor Moon becomes undone as the lid of her brooch opens. The dark pink ribbons shift into a new form as she becomes Princess Serenity. The lotus shaped crystal shimmers in her hands. The crescent moon mark on her forehead flashes brightly. Both of her odangos are back to their perfect round shape.
The Ginzuishou floats up from the brooch and positions itself between the two ends of the crescent on the Moon Stick. Bright light emits from the crystal, changing the shape of the wand. The pink base in her hands grows in length until it reaches the pavement.
Queen Beryl's stance becomes more ridged. Sailor Moon had so many missed opportunities to use the crystal. "You plan to threaten me with that crystal? It's didn't work last time, what makes you think it will this time?" She taunts the Moon Princess, trying to shake her resolve.
Princess Serenity opens her eyes, a sense of calm washes over her. She should have taken on this form sooner. Her confidence is the highest it has been all night, because Princess Serenity has taken control and her abilities as Sailor Moon have been discarded. "I'm a lot stronger than I was last time." Her voice is unwavering, as she declares her intention to stop Queen Beryl. She smiles slightly. "I'm sure you've noticed the Ginzuishou has taken on a different shape."
Queen Beryl peers at the crystal, examining it closely for the first time since its reappearance. "A different form doesn't mean anything."
"It means everything." Princess Serenity raises the staff in the air, above her head. "Moon Crystal Power!" Bright lights cascades from the crystal rushing over to Queen Beryl.
Queen Beryl places her own staff in front of her to use it as a shield. Black energy pours out of her staff.
The white and dark energy clashes with each other, producing an even more blinding light.
The Starlights see the two energies collide.
"This is just like before; all we can do is watch." Maker turns away from the scene, knowing what is still to come.
"Yeah, we already know how it will end…" Healer added quietly in defeat.
Sailor Star Fighter is not ready to accept there is nothing they can do. "No we don't!" She is grasping at straws, a sign to show it won't happen. "The prophecy has already changed. Sailor Moon is alive."
Healer cocks her head in the direction of her leader. "For now. It could also mean the rest of the prophecy hasn't played out." She looks at the energy barrier. "We have no way to help her."
Sailor Star Maker interjects. "I hope you're wrong. But her senshi told us using the Ginzuishou comes at a great cost." Her voice softens. "Maybe this is how she…" She can't finish the sentence.
"She'll make it through this!" Sailor Star Fighter responds with optimism in her voice. "I know she will."
Maker is not quite as confident. "I hope you're right."
"She has to be…" Fighter says quietly more to herself than to the others. Her eyes focus on Princess Serenity battling Queen Beryl.
Queen Beryl continues to unleash an endless flow of black energy from her staff.
Princess Serenity frowns as she is forced to take a few steps back. Her powers might have grown, but so has Queen Beryl's. Her opponent is much stronger than she remembered. The struggle continues and she can feel herself being pushed back despite her best effort, short of unleashing all of the Ginzuishou's power. With a quick glance to her right, she sees the fallen senshi, her best friends. Tuxedo Kamen, her love. He encouraged her to keep fighting and not give up no matter what. She has to keep the promise she made to each of them.
"I will protect the Earth!" Princess Serenity vows. "Everyone is counting on me." She can feel the senshi's presences, encouraging her to not give up. She looks at the captive Starlights for a moment. She has to defeat Queen Beryl to free them. She summons her courage and uses everything she can to fight back.
Moments later, she realizes it is not enough. She's not strong enough to protect everyone on her own. Her strength always came from everyone else.
Queen Beryl is slowing gaining the upper hand, inch by inch pushing her back. With each advance her confidence grows. She laughs with glee. "You are only delaying the inventible. You're nothing but a weak Princess no matter what lifetime you are in!" She adds another burst of dark energy.
Princess Serenity is overpowered and blasted back into a nearby subway entrance terminal. Her back cracks some of the window; the glass creaks as it continues to break. She feels pain everywhere. Her is chest is tight, like when she was blasted off the roof by Jadeite. She ignores the pressure, holding her staff in front of her.
She doesn't know how, but she has to find a way to stop Queen Beryl, to be strong enough. To be the Princess everyone relies on, the one everyone deserves. She will find a way, she always does. She raises her staff again to attack. She doesn't have the chance.
Queen Beryl blasts Princess Serenity again. The glass behind her gives away and she loses her balance, falling backward in the direction of the staircase below. She shuts her eyes tightly as she can feel the glass cut her arms and tear her immaculate dress.
"It wasn't supposed to be this way…" her voice trails off, waiting to hit the pavement below. How is she going to stop Queen Beryl? "I need help… but I'm alone."
"But you're not alone Princess Serenity. You've never been alone. I've always been here to guide you," a voice calls out to her. It is the third time she has heard this voice. The first was against Galaxia, and most recently when she was blasted off a roof by Jadeite. The voice that told her true awakening is imminent.
Princess Serenity realizes she is no longer falling but floating in the air when she opens her eyes. She sees a dark pink energy surrounding the silhouette. It is a senshi with a long flowing cape. "Who are you?" She needs answers.
"Consider me… your protector." The other woman responds.
The Princess tries to make out her face but it is hidden by the pink energy. She can't even tell what color the senshi's hair is. "Please help me." Serenity pleads.
The senshi lowers her head slightly. "If I grant you my power, it will change everything." She warns.
Princess Serenity shakes her head side to side. "Please! Let me save everyone, if I can't… it's not a future worth having. I don't care what it takes." Her eyes tear up at the thought of never seeing everyone again.
The senshi takes a few steps closer to Princess Serenity. "Is this what your heart truly desires?"
"Yes," Princess Serenity responds without hesitation.
The senshi presses her lips together tightly for a moment. "Very well." She closes the gap between them and places her hand on Princess Serenity's chest. Pink light reflects off the pearl rings on her left hand.
Princess Serenity gasps loudly as her starseed appears. She can feel a warm energy entering her starseed and body. She closes her eyes. It feels soothing as she can feel a new power taking shape. The tightness in her chest finally evaporates. She feels stronger than she has ever before.
"Go and stop Queen Beryl," the senshi instructs her. "The moment you return, you will forget any of this has happened." She appears saddened by the turn of events.
Princess Serenity opens her eyes and looks at the senshi in confusion.
"For now, I can only exist outside of time and space but we will meet again very soon under different circumstances." The senshi reassures her. "Princess Serenity, Sailor Moon, no Tsukino Usagi, you now possess the power to change this world." The senshi's face comes into focus for a few seconds. She has emerald green eyes and dark flowing pink hair full of curls.
There is a brilliant white flash.
Princess Serenity opens her eyes. She doesn't quite remember how she landed on the concrete steps below without injuring herself. She can feel a burst of energy; looking down at her arms the cuts she was sure she should have from the glass are gone.
Power flows through her like nothing she has ever felt. She feels like she can take on anything. Feather wings appear on her back as pink light surrounds her body for a few moments before shifting to white. The Ginzuishou flashes as if it had its second wind as well.
Extending her wings, with the Moon Stick in hand, she flies up the subway station steps until she reaches Shibuya Scramble. Once she is outside, she hoovers in the air, her body still surrounded by a pale white glow.
Queen Beryl narrows her eyes at the return of Princess Serenity. She did not anticipate the Princess to return so quickly. "You're still standing?" Annoyed her victory will be delayed, she summons dark energy from her staff. The black orb glows as it gathers energy for what she assumes will be their final confrontation. "Enjoy your last moments Princess!"
The energy races to Princess Serenity; she uses the Ginzuishou to deflect the attack.
Queen Beryl glares at her adversary; lips curling upward in annoyance, revealing several of her teeth. She unleashes everything she has, planning to overpower the Moon Princess. She is met with more resistance than before. For a moment some of her confidence waivers, how could her power strengthen so much in a matter of minutes? No. The Moon Princess is not that strong. She increases the amount of energy from her staff, moving closer to own limit.
Anger consumers Queen Beryl, the Princess will not stop her from completing her revenge. "No one will stand in my way!"
Princess Serenity does not verbally respond, and allows the Ginzuishou to answer for her, it flashes brighter than before. The light is blinding in the darkness, illuminating everything to the point it is nearly bright as day.
The Starlights shield their eyes from the intensity.
"This light is brighter than the one from her starseed last year…" Sailor Star Healer comments, trying to avoid the radiance.
"I didn't know anyone's power could grow this fast in a year." Sailor Star Maker echoes Healers thoughts.
Sailor Star Fighter has a different approach. "Maybe that is why our Princess once referred to her as the Light of Hope."
They are still imprisoned with no way out to help Princess Serenity. All they can do is continue to watch.
As Princess Serenity fights back, she can feel the strain on her body. She is fighting with everything she has, pushing herself to her limits. She prays she will not run out of power before she stops Queen Beryl.
"I will defeat her," she repeats softly to herself. "I will end this." Princess Serenity takes a deep breath and gives it all she has. Her mother's words echo in her mind. If her heart is strong, the Ginzuishou will shine brightly. She believes in her heart she will stop Queen Beryl and find a way to save everyone. For this wish to come, it will come at a great cost.
A few tears fall from her eyes and onto the Ginzuishou. The crystal flashes even brighter and emits several large bursts of energy directed at Queen Beryl.
With her energy completed depleted, Princess Serenity feels herself fall backward. The crystal separates from the crescent moon wand. The wand falls on the pavement, shattering into multiple pieces. It was never met to wield so much power. The Ginzuishou remains floating in the air.
Princess Serenity cannot keep her eyes open any longer. As they close, the crescent moon mark on her forehead fades and her Princess dress reverts back to her high school uniform. Usagi took her last breath before her body hit the ground.
The last waves of light from the Ginzuishou are on a crash course with Queen Beryl. She tries to deflect the light with her staff but nothing will stop or slow down the light from reaching her.
A chill reaches Sailor Star Healer. She exhales loudly. She didn't want it to be true, but she has to tell them. Fighter is about to lose it. "The final light… went out."
Sailor Star Fighter's eyes widen, trying to see more of the battle. They had seen Princess Serenity fall backward and the Ginzuishou emitting more light, but they were too far to see the events clearly from here. "No…" She says in disbelief. "Odango…" she whispers, refusing to believe that Princess Serenity/Sailor Moon/Usagi was now a lifeless corpse at the other side of the intersection. The anger hits. "Why were we sent here… only to witness death?" She screams loudly.
Sailor Star Maker stares at the ground. They failed.
A bright flash of light from the Ginzuishou silences the three Starlights.
The crystal emits a white light at first and then it becomes dark pink. The energy expands outward. Usagi's body is no longer visible as it is enveloped by the light.
The pink energy expands outward, repairing the ruined subway entrance Princess Serenity flew out of. The energy continues to expand outward, engulfing everything in its path.
The last blast of pure energy hits Queen Beryl. She screams at her body begins to vanish. Her thirst for revenge unfulfilled.
The pink light washes over the barrier Queen Beryl made right as her body begins to vanish. The barrier begins to crack, but it does not shatter until after the pink light has moved on to the surrounding areas.
The light washes over the bodies of the other senshi and they disappear.
Shibuya Scramble is filled with a pink glow as the damaged buildings return to their previous state. The light continues further out into Tokyo.
"What just happened?" Sailor Star Healer looks at the spot where the other senshi's bodies lied only moments ago.
Sailor Star Maker stares wide eyed at the previously damaged buildings. "It looks like Queen Beryl was defeated… but how did Tokyo go back to what it was?"
"Maybe the prophecy changed," Sailor Star Fighter's voice is full of hope. Maybe this is a sign everything would be okay.
A few small pink and white sparkles linger in the air from the Ginzuishou.
They emit a sense of calmness over the Starlights as exhaustion finally takes over and everything turns black.
Taiki slowly opens his eyes as light starts to stream in from behind the curtain. He sits up in his bed at his apartment. When did he fall asleep? He shakes his head. How did he end up here when the last thing he remembers was battling in the Shibuya? As more of the events start to enter his mind he rushes out of the room and into the main room of the apartment to turn on a radio.
"The disturbance from yesterday has ended and all restrictions are expired. Everyone can go to work and school. Please resume your normal activities." Taiki listens to the announcement on the radio. Just like that everything is supposed to go back to normal.
He stares at the radio for moment contemplating what to do. School. If the girls are okay, they'll be at school. That is the fast way to see if they are okay. He turns to Seiya's room. It will easier to wake him up versus Yaten.
He opens the door to find Seiya still sound asleep. At least he's here as well. He shakes him. "Seiya, get up."
Seiya mumbles something as he starts to open his eyes. "Taiki…" He greets him as his eyes start to come into focus. He looks at the taller man for a moment before he leaps out of bed. "What happened? Is everyone okay?" His mind is now racing.
"I don't know. I just woke up a few minutes ago. There was an announcement on the radio all restrictions ended and for everything to go back to normal." Taiki heads to the door. "We should check on the others."
Seiya nods his head in agreement. "I'll get Yaten." Normally Seiya would hate to wake up Yaten since he has swung on people at times when he is really tired.
Once Seiya is in Yaten's room, he shakes Yaten by his feet. Yaten's arms start flailing but find nothing but air.
"What are you doing?" Yaten angrily snaps. He puts the pillow over his head to block out the sunlight. "Why is it so bright?" Yaten snaps his head up, knocking his pillow off his bed. He glances around the room for a moment. "How did we end up back here?"
"We don't know. Taiki just woke up a minute ago." Seiya explains, gesturing for Yaten to follow him.
The three members of the Three Lights stand in their living room. None of them remember how they ended up back here when they were all in Shibuya Scramble.
"It has to be the light from the crystal." Taiki guesses. "We should go to school."
"How can you think of school at a time like this?" Yaten voices his objection.
"If they are okay, they're going to be at school. But I think we should transform and watch the school, just like we did when we first got here in case something is wrong." Seiya begins to formulate a plan.
They rush back to their room to grab their change stars.
"Fighter Star Power, Make up!"
"Maker Star Power, Make Up!"
"Healer Star Power, Make Up!"
The trio arrive at school and remain on top of a building across the street, watching Juuban from below. They stare at everyone while they go on their business as if nothing happened yesterday. The girls should be arriving any minute, unless they really died. This is the only way to know, short of going to their homes.
Maker gasps loudly when she sees a blue haired student running down the street.
The noise attracts Healer and Fighter.
Maker can only point at Ami.
Ami bumps into Makoto as she turns the corner near the school entrance. She bows slightly. "I'm so sorry Kino-san."
"I'm sorry, I'm running a little myself Mizuno-san." She responds back polity, also bowing.
The Three Starlights all turn to look at each other.
"Something is wrong." Fighter utters first. "They are never that formal to each other."
Healer looks back at the street. "Look. More of them are here." She smiles in relief. They're alive.
Rei is running across the street trying to complete an errand before school and barely misses being flatted by Haruka in her yellow convertible. "Watch where you are going!" Rei shouts angrily at the driver.
"That was kind of close, but you should pay attention to the light." Haruka responds smugly, gesturing with her head to the green light.
"It was red!" Rei shouts at her flailing her arms.
Hotaru walks pass the two bickering women. As she finishes exiting the crosswalk she drops her bag. She bends down to pick it up and her hand brushes against a long haired blonde's hand.
Minako picks up the bag for Hotaru. "You dropped this," she hands the bag back with a smile.
"Thank you," Hotaru responds while bowing.
Minako flashes her a smile and then runs across the street to the school.
Down the street, Usagi pauses in front of a poster advertising the Three Lights and Michiru Kaiou charity concert. She stares at it for a few moments. "It would be really cool to get tickets for that but I'm sure it's already sold out." She hangs her head in defeat and walks forward.
She is not looking where she is walking and smacks into Mamoru, knocking both of them over.
Mamoru slowly gets up and doesn't assist Usagi. "You need to watch where you are going Odango Atama." He turns and begins walking off.
Usagi is up on her feet with hands balled into fists. Her arms are positioned straight down, around the length of her skirt. She fumes. "That is not my name! How many times do I have to tell you? It's U-SA-GI! It's not that hard to learn!"
The school bell chimes before she can shout anything more. Usagi shrieks and runs for the school gate, barely missing the cut off.
The Starlights look at each other. They are silent for a few moments.
"At least they are alive." Healer finally manages. "But why are they acting so strange?"
"That was expected."
The Starlights whip around to find Sailor Pluto standing there. She smiles slightly as she greets them. "They may have been reborn, but they have not awakened as senshi yet."
The Starlights stare at the Senshi of Time in disbelief.
She continues, "It is a side effect of using the Ginzuishou. They lose their memories of being a senshi and as a result, they treat each other like strangers until their memories return." Her eyes lower. "If not for being senshi, none of them would have met."
"How do they reawaken as senshi?" Sailor Star Fighter can feel a lump in her throat. Not remembering they are senshi will leave them vulnerable.
Sailor Pluto shakes her head. "I don't know. But it needs to happen soon. A darkness is about to decent onto this world, worse than what they just faced."
The senshi that assisted Princess Serenity stands in a dark void. The only light, are twinkling stars above. Her white cape flows as a breeze passes by. She pushes some of her dark pink curls behind her ears. She stares out in the darkness in front of her, the eight pointed star on her forehead glowing dimly. "Everything is about to change." She smiles slightly at what it will mean for her. "I hope you are ready for this Usagi, my rebirth."
To be continued….. in Act 1: of Chaos Theory.
And that is a wrap for Sailor Stars: Rebirth!
Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoyed the prequel. I'm also hoping this filled in some gaps with the beginning of Chaos Theory and it helps transition why Usagi was struggling even more at the beginning of story. I tried to have to it line up as closely as I could to the beginning of Chaos Theory.
I had to come up with a solid reason why the Starlights survived this battle and the others didn't based on the start of the next story. If they missed a lot of the fighting, they could survive. Beryl was tricky. I opted for the dome to allow Beryl to battle against Serenity one on one. If the Starlights battled Beryl then they would have died too but they had to somehow live.
If you enjoyed this story, go ahead and read Chaos Theory for more content if you haven't already. But be warned, it is very long and slowly turning into the never ending story for me!
Feel free to send a message or comment. I love hearing feedback good or bad.
I wish I would have wrote this before Chaos Theory but this story wouldn't have been what it was without Chaos Theory and it does set up arc five rather nicely. I had planned on one large arc for the next section of Chaos Theory but I began to develop the main plot points and twists, I've decided to have…. three arcs! The next one is taking shape nicely and the part after…. Long way to go!
I still need to figure out a name for the Master… my notes label her as the Big Bad…. But that is not going to fly forever.
Make sure to check Tumblr (sorakazeno) for updates in between. A few more pictures of Shibuya Scramble where the battle took place are up on my Tumblr.
Below is a sneak peak of what I am working on for the continuation of Chaos Theory. If you have not read Chaos Theory and plan to do so, stop reading here since these are spoilers.
Snippets of dialogue from Chaos Theory Act 61 and beyond.
"You've ruined everything with Seiya!"
"It's time you learned why you are called the Guardian, and what you are the Guardian of."
"Usako, stop this!"
"You mean you didn't know they were together?"
"I'm helping out Mamoru-san. Why, were you hoping it would be him?"
"I'm going to kill him if I have to spend the entire day together."
"Not everything went back to exactly how it was. Don't you know what you've done?"
"A light burned out. It doesn't make sense. How is she still alive?"
Lines will be edited a bit in the story; some of them would be way too vague otherwise for this section.
First arc will have a lot more drama than action as it sets the stage for the second one which will more action packed and then the third one… well…. It's going to be crazy.
I'm off to finish planning the arc and then writing will begin in November. This November will mark nine years since I started writing Chaos Theory. I can't believe it is still going.
See you in December 2023 for more Chaos Theory!
