We continued with sign language practice at lunch time today. I gave Bella my soda and forced myself to eat some beige goo from the cafeteria in front of her. We signed while the other ate, not speaking.
The curious stares and thoughts of all around were very intrusive though. I think it helped to keep me on guard though. It is better than to risk being alone right now.
We practiced simple conversations that we had studied and all went smoothly until Bella asked me in sign 'why are you angry?', though I had studied enough these last few nights to answer her fully, I just signed back 'I'm fine'. This annoyed her and she called our conversation to a close, making her excuses and moving to sit with her friends.
I wish I could tell her everything. I would give anything to be able to confide in her.
