Emmett has been totally consumed with trying to crack the 'alien crop circle code' these past few days. He has not made any real headway, so Jasper and I are going to drop hints and intervene, breaking the code ourselves if necessary.

He went hunting yesterday and on his way back for school this morning I struck with the drone! I had attached a few small, but bright white and red LED lights in a triangle pattern to it and flew it over his head a few times. It took him several passes to even notice, his thoughts were filled with trying to remember the lyrics to The Scatman, though why he lacks perfect recall, and why he would use what limited mental capacity he has to remember such a foul stain on the history of popular music, one will never know. Emmett is, as ever, the true mystery.

At long last he looked up at the right moment and saw the drone through the trees, I quickly manoeuvered it away and hid it amongst the foliage, hovering. Emmett climbed the trees to get a better view, but of course could see nothing. Whilst he was up there I turned on the brightest spotlight I had attached to the drone and flew so that it would blind him momentarily.

He screamed "Leave me alone! Rose says she's the only one allowed to probe me!" and clung to the tree with one arm, shaking a fist with the other!

I lowered the drone, grabbed it out of he air and beat the fastest retreat I could without giving away my presence. It is difficult to move silently in the woods, but I still gained a significant head start on Emmett, who seemed to be in shock for quite some time before making a move.

I arrived home to find Esme scowling at Carlisle as he paced about in the living room, gesticulating and blathering on with gusto about meeting some distant relative of the man who invented daylight savings. Esme had a pen held limply between her fingers and was scribbling occasionally, though never dropping her positively murderous gaze. If looks could kill Carlisle, despite already being dead, would have died another thousand deaths. I have never heard Esme growling before tonight. Carlisle did not notice, but she is nearing breaking point. I beat a very hasty retreat upstairs to tell Jasper about the night's activities.

Emmett barelled through the house soon afterwards, raving to Rosalie about the lights in the sky. She distracted him with his yellow legal pad and a pencil and told him he'd better 'write a witness statement' while it was still fresh in his mind. I may say a lot of things about Rosalie, but she knows how to handle Emmett and her patience with him is utterly inexplicable.

I filled Bella in over the telephone and she made the most delightful laugh and snort when I told her about Emmett in the tree shaking his fist at the drone. It made me feel very warm inside to hear.

Next on the list of pranks is an 'alien eggshell'. What fun!
