The Advisor's opinion
Kakashi Hatake, Team 7's Shinobi Advisor on all official records, watched from the desk as the four left the room. He turned to where Hiruzen Sarutobi, Koharu Utatane, Homura Mitokado, Danzo Shimura, and Shikaku Nara had received Sai's report on the progress of the three.
"I have to admit, I'm more than a little surprised this little experiment of you five has lasted so long." The masked Jonin had his hands in his pockets, was utterly relaxed as he spoke to the Konoha Council. "The outcast Uchiha, the punch happy Jinchuriki, that crazy pink one, are trouble on their own. The fact that all three are under the authority of one of Shimura's emotionless ROOT agents should be A LOT more concerning than it actually is. I mean, this "Team" should be more of a ticking time bomb than anything else. Those four should really be tearing each other apart or at least be imploding but…damn. I guess putting all those personalities, well lack of it in one case, really worked out for the best."
"Indeed it has." Hiruzen looked over the latest mission report, an assignment that took them to the long rebuilt Kannabi Bridge. "It seems their recon assignment was very successful."
He set the photo from the file on the table for the rest of those in the room to see.
An Iwagakure Shinobi, identified as one Takako Fuji, a powerful Jonin, was, at least in the picture, doing an impression of an ice sculpture.
Sakura was flying her strange winged beast with a wide smile literally flashing on her face, Naruto was pulling himself up out of a hole in the middle of the bridge, and Sasuke seemed to have just finished turning Takako into an ice sculpture from the frost around his hands.
Sai was in the background, a dozen or so other Iwagakure Shinobi laying beaten on the ground, bleeding out. Dark streaks were cutting through the air, returning to the book held out in front of him.
"This hasn't been a waste of resources at least." Danzo examined the next photo.
The photo was from the side of the bridge, Sakura was jumping up and down in joy on top of it as the rest of the team worked together to repair the hole in the bridge. Sai's ink creations seemed to be responsible for bringing stones to the damaged bridge, Naruto held them in place from beneath, and Sasuke was doing something on the side that involved launching poles floating down the river with pillars of ice.
"I'm still trying to figure out how that fixed the hole." Kakashi examined the picture from in front of the table. "I swear for a second they just kept making more holes in it."
More photos were in the files, each of them adding more, or somehow less, context to the mission report.
One of them had the entire team at the beach, swimsuits included. How they were there when they were supposed to be in a landlocked country like where the Kannabi Bridge was at nearby the Hidden Grass Village? Not a single one of them had any idea.
The pictures in the Hidden Stone made slightly more sense, Sakura sticking her tongue out from her winged beast as Sai flew next to her on an ink creation, both letting a bundle of Iwa Shinobi trapped in ice land in the streets. Naruto and Sasuke were both hanging from the cable of ice the net had been attached to, Sasuke holding a knife made of ice in his hand that must've cut the line.
"That seems like a diplomatic incident waiting to happen." Shikaku spoke the obvious.
"Oh trust me! It gets worse." He flipped to the next page for the Nara, made his eyes widen at what he was seeing. He chuckled. "Yeah, that was my reaction too."
The picture in question had Naruto and Sasuke in some sort of argument that spilled over into violence, the two launching a punch at the other with a shout you could nearly hear just from looking at the picture. Between the two, and thus taking the blow, was the Third Tsuchikage who had been speaking with Sai it seemed.
Sakura was currently hanging upside down, her feet, and thus the reason she wasn't plummeting to the ground, in the clawed grasp of her winged beast. She was waving at the camera with one hand and the other held the struggling, and kicking, foot of the currently being punched in the face Third Tsuchikage's granddaughter Kurotsuchi.
Sai's face was one of frozen growing horror as he saw the imminent blow in progress. He had been speaking to the Tsuchikage, likely over the captured Shinobi in their melting frozen restraints, when Naruto and Sasuke seemed to get into their argument.
Hiruzen could only stare at what was in front of him.
"Well we're dead." Homura accurately summed up what the room at large was feeling. He reached into his sleeves, removed his emergency flask. "Anybody want some?"
Hiruzen was in the process of taking out his rolling paper, Koharu had her own, and Danzo was too busy facepalming with his own usable hand.
"For fuck's sake Sai. How?" The "Shadow of Shinobi" was moments away from just banging is head on the desk until he forgot about what his once so promising student had done. "That girl's stupidity has got to be contagious."
Kakashi silently left the room as the Konoha Council began to spiral.
"Yep, absolutely wonderful idea." Kakashi took his hands out his pocket, observed the last few pictures he had 'conveniently' failed to supply in the report.
The Tsuchikage, bruised face and all, was flying around with a brightly smiling Sakura, Kurotsuchi looking both terrified and elated as she had her arms wrapped around the girl's waist as she gave her an aerial tour of her village.
In the next, Sasuke and Naruto were bowing to the Tsuchikage in apology, a glaring Sai behind them. Sakura had, after Kurotsuchi's near tumble to the ground, had the girl back on the back of her winged beast.
The next one showed Sasuke as he was busy melting the ice keeping the Hidden Stone Shinobi trapped with an extended hand, the Tsuchikage only able to be glimpsed as he floated above a kneeling Takako Fuji, reprimanding her for her unauthorized mission to Kannabi Bridge. Naruto and Sai were both out of sight, Sakura far off in the background and smiling as she pulled a hiding Kurotsuchi out of where she was hiding/spying on the Hidden Leaf Shinobi that had arrived in the village.
Another showed Sai, Sasuke, and a Shinobi with blonde hair each showing off a bird. Sasuke's was, rather predictably, made out of the ice the result of his Kekkei Genkai, Sai's had been quickly drawn on his hand from a brush currently down at his side, and the blonde Shinobi had an open mouth on his hand that a white bird made of clay was sitting on the tongue of.
In another, Naruto was standing in what had to be a souvenir shop, his arms behind his head as he looked at the shelves filled with possible mementos of his trip to the Hidden Stone, a red-haired bearded man was standing at his side and seemed to be pointing out one of the items.
The next picture had a smiling Sakura throwing as much of her arms as she could around a massive man in red armor and a black gi over it, the red wide metal hat he had on tipped up and the camera able to catch a majority of his smiling face. One gloved hand was on top of her pink hair, seemed to be caught in the midst of, carefully in regards to her bows, ruffling it.
The next one he had showed her on the towering man's shoulders, a wide smile on her face as she introduced him to Naruto, Sasuke, and Sai. Only the backs of the other three were shown from the angle the picture had been taken at, not showing the expressions they had worn on their faces at who exactly her friend in the Hidden Stone had turned out to be.
He pocketed those pictures and the rest, would come clean to the council about the 'incomplete' report later. If they tried to make a big deal out of it, he would just point to the clearly outlined fallout he had buried about two thirds of the way through the forty or so page report. Letting Sakura write the majority of it had the side effect of making it so ungodly long and had let him drop in his "Advisor Comments" more than a little bit at random.
For now, he would have a laugh at their expense.
'These kids are going to go far.'
AN: Well, that about sums it up. Chapters should be on the shorter side for this if I stick to my original plan but that can probably change on a whim. Regardless, this story was probably confusing and unclear at times. Did it at times make no sense at all? Are you left scratching you head at the plot?
Don't worry that you alone don't know what's happening. It's very likely that no one, not even me, knows where this is going.
Anyway...
Review if you want.
PM if you want.
Peace.
