AN: Another new chapter.
"It looks like our intelligence was correct. The four are just up ahead." Sai's voice came to all three of their ears courtesy of the wireless radios they were wearing. The squad leader was currently high in the air on the back of one of his black and white birds to observe the attack, coordinate as best he could their one chance to separate the four in this planned ambush. "Be ready to engage your targets immediately on my signal."
"Roger."
"Oh, I'm so excited for my new weapons!"
"Are we seriously not going to talk about this? Can she even take any of those weapons?"
"…Just be ready. You three only get one shot each. There can be no mistakes."
The three large ink birds he had given to each would do their jobs but they weren't capable of much more than that, would take each of their chosen targets away to their chosen battlefields but nothing more.
"Approximately thirty seconds." Sai's bird took a steep dive, moved out of sight and into the trees. He hopped off of it as it returned to ink.
He took up his position and silently waited for one of the four rouge Shinobi to step into the trap. His hope was that once one fell, the others would follow suit in an almost domino effect.
The air around Sasuke grew cold, frost beginning to gather on the leaves closest to him, on the tree he was waiting behind.
Naruto tightened the bandages wrapped around his fist, swallowed down his nerves as he focused on the mission.
Sakura remained behind her own tree, readied herself to draw her sword from her side. No matter the urge to step out and announce herself, to disregard the plan, she stayed in place.
Each Shinobi took in their respective target, the battles soon to take place.
Each of the three Genin on the ground reached for the scroll their squad leader had provided each of them.
Naruto, with his Wind Release Chakra, would handle Kujaku and her Weaknessless Soaring Shortswords. He would be relying on his massive Chakra reserves to help him overpower the artificially enhanced attacks she would likely throw at him without end. If he could close the distance between him and her, he could put all his lessons from Might Guy to use.
Sasuke would attack the youngest member of the rogue Shinobi in Ryugan. He would see how well his Kekkei Genkai's versatility compared to the Garian Sword and whatever Shape Transformation abilities it held. With how unpredictable it and its unknown ability was, the adaptiveness of his Kekkei Genkai would be put to the test.
Sakura, after much arguing on her part (and a literal moment of digging her heels in) would be responsible for Suiko and his Infinite Armor. She would either defeat him or prolong the battle long enough for one or both of her two teammates to join her and take down the powerful rogue Shinobi.
And lastly, Sai would be responsible for the leader, Hoki. He would also have the secondary role of putting as much distance between him and the other members of the rogue group as possible as a precaution.
All four of the Shinobi had been given powerful seals created by the Hokage himself to lock away each of the weapons once their opponent was defeated, would return them to Takumi Village once all four rogue Shinobi were either dead or in the Hidden Leaf's custody.
The plan wasn't the best but, with the unpredictability of going up against such a group of Shinobi, it was the best they could manage.
Naruto would be the first to grab Kujaku, the greatest fear that she could ruin the entire plan with her swords.
After the blonde, Sasuke would take out Ryugan.
Then Sakura would separate Suiko from the others.
And finally, Sai would keep Hoki here.
With Kujaku's next step, the plan began.
Naruto snapped open his scroll as he threw himself out of cover, the flock of ink birds swarming to surround both him and Kujaku before any of the other rogue Shinobi could try and intervene. With a cry, a large hawk was created from the inky flock, snatched up the Kunoichi in its massive beak before soaring off. Naruto jumped and grabbed onto a leg as it passed overhead, flew off to his battleground further in the forest.
Sasuke was next, breaking the seal on his scroll and releasing another flock of ink birds. Ryugan was slightly more prepared than Kujaku had been, at least managed to draw his weapon before he was swallowed up next. Sasuke leaped from the ground to the back of the giant hawk, shared a nod with Sakura as she emerged with her own scroll at the ready.
She smiled as she didn't land in front of Suiko. Checkers landed on top of him with her claws digging into his armor before with a mighty flap of her wings they were shooting into the air. She set off her own scroll purely as a distraction, keep Hoki from interfering as the last of his group was taken away. She twisted around on her mount's back to stick a tongue out at the man behind all of this.
Sai chose that moment to emerge from the trees under a rain of ink. In both hands was a black and white blade and his eyes were only for his target.
The man wasn't the leader of a group of Missing-nin for nothing, managed to save himself from certain death by lifting his massive sword into the air swift enough to counter it.
Sai's thin blades were still deceptively strong, Hoki unable to push them or the Shinobi who wielded them aside.
"So…" There was strain in his voice, the man clearly not as ready for this battle as Sai. Fires were already encircling the two, trapped them both in an arena of flames. "They put you in charge of the Jinchuriki?"
"Do not speak of my students."
Black and white blades surrounded the two on all sides, created a field of blades both within and outside the circle of flames.
Across the forest, three battles began.
Sasuke landed on a tree branch as a trio of serpentine-like crystal dragons tore through the ink hawk at last. His Chakra seeped into the tree he was standing on and frost quickly spread along the bark.
Sakura ordered Checkers to drop Suiko to the ground, patted her on the side and gave a quiet goodbye before she leaped from her stead, plummeted through the air, and down to her opponent. Her smile was less joyful and more malicious as she drew her sword from her side.
Naruto dropped to the top of a tree, watched as the ink hawk bulged before it was lacerated from inside by a hurricane of wind blades. The woman he was supposed to fight plummeted out but a swing of her sword brought a twister to her feet that stopped her fall.
The eyes of all three Missing-nin met the eyes of the Genin that were to be their opponents.
The battles for Takumi Village's Ninja Tools had begun.
