Raven was surrounded by darkness in her own room, as she put on some garments not undiscernible in the pitch black room.
"For the first time, I will be something different. Tonight, darkness shall creep over the land. Terror will walk the streets. And children will shriek in fear. For tonight, the time is..." Exiting her room, and jumping out, Raven was dressed as a white horse with wings. A mythological Pegasus. "...Happy Halloween!" The titans turned to her and their eyes opened wide at what they say.
"Raven?" Beast Boy asked. Jinx silently mouthed what the.
"Oh friend Raven! You look so equestrian in that costume!" Starfire cheered.
"Thanks Star." Raven replied. Beast Boy and Cyborg started to laugh, her get up looking ridiculous, which she didn't appreciate at all. Using her magic to transform her costume covered head, the half-demon girl roared at them with the head of a flaming skeleton horse while flying at them, scaring the fudge out of her laughing friends as they ran away screaming. Her head went back to normal with Raven chuckling.
"Why are you wearing that?" Robin asked confused.
"Because, it's Halloween!" She yelled happily in response as she spread her magic through the living room, giving it a new spooky aesthetic with bats, skeletons, and a creepy butler that everyone knows he already did it.
"But Raven, last year you said that Halloween was dumb and only little kids could possibly enjoy it."
"Well, it still is, but since I don't have to hold my emotions back anymore, I want to capitalize on the parts that I find cool about it. Like dressing up as something you're not, getting candy and having a party. Aren't you guys excited?"
"Hmmm. I've lost interest in holidays in general because Batman was training me up to be Robin. That and I had issues that weren't resolved then so it's not like I could enjoy them as much even if I wanted to.
"I am afraid I do not get the point of the Halloween. Why is the dress up required to get sweets? Why do the little kids get them from strangers? Why carve the faces out of orange gourds? This is not part of American history I learned from the time I was too smart."
"Halloween wasn't celebrated in India, and the Hive didn't take breaks during the holidays." Jinx shrugged.
"Cyborg? Beast Boy?" Raven asked the remaining two. As the two cautiously stepped out, the two looked sort of down.
"I've just grown too old is all. I was in high school before becoming Cyborg so it's not like I celebrated it anyway."
"And let's just say the one time Galtry did let me go out on Halloween, kids made fun of my skin color. Not to mention assassin attacks. And when I was with the Doom Patrol, we did missions around the world so celebrating it seemed pointless."
"Oh. I'm sorry to hear that Beast Boy." Raven expressed sympathetically. "But, can we at least do it just this one more time for me? I'd like to have the chance of celebrating each of the holidays at least once like a normal teenager. Plus...I like doing scary stuff with you guys. That horror movie aside." It wasn't often that Raven of all people begged, and she surprisingly had a convincing looking puppy eyed stare that got through to everyone.
"Ah, alright." Robin said with a small smile. "Since it means so much to you, we'll celebrate so you can have the experience of celebrating it."
"Thank you Robin!" She exclaimed gratefully while hugging him. Finally, a chance to celebrate Halloween the way she wanted.
The Titans have set foot in the nearest Jump City suburbs. Robin couldn't decide on whether to be Superman or a vampire, so he just combined the both, making a black and silver Superman costume and a vampire appearance for his head, his cape covering his entire body. Starfire didn't know what to go with, so she simply went with the easiest classic: a bed sheet ghost. Cyborg was the most elaborate, making a mechanical horse he could ride while he was dressed as the Headless Horseman, his unattached head clutched in his right arm. Beast Boy was still uncomfortable due to the trauma of his past, so he simply asked Raven for her clothes so he could be as one of her emoticlones. While the cloak was easily made purple because it suited his green skin the best, it was also magically kept closed for the rest of the night because his legs were way too hairy and unappealing, at least in the leotard his was borrowing. At least Raven gave him weak telekinesis so that he could hold up to a full trick or treat bag within arms reach, also only for tonight. Jinx was the most clever. Her costume was a leprechaun, and her hair was dyed orange and styled around her lower face so that it resembled a braided beard. They went to one of the best places to trick or treat, Knot Hill, a place where some of the houses are situated on hills. The air was filled with a pleasant autumn air and laughter of children. Even if Starfire, Jinx and Beast Boy didn't have much of an appreciation, the children and the thought of candy did appeal to them, along with doing this with their friends.
"Alright then." Raven said. "It's time to get into the Halloween spirit. Titans, GO!" Raven shouted in jubilation. When they went to the first door on the street, a woman opened the door.
"The Teen Titans? What are you doing trick or treating? Aren't you too old?"
"Well, here's the thing." Robin began to explain. "Raven here never got to celebrate Halloween because of...personal reasons. But those reasons are finally gone, so now she wants to experience a fun holiday for the first time."
"Oh, I'm sorry to hear that dear. Hold out your bag. Your costume is pretty by the way."
"Thanks." The half-demon Pegasus girl said as she received a butterscotch square, a pink lollypop and a purple salt water taffy piece. As they went door to door, each of the titans explaining Raven's situation, their bags started to get filled with more and more stuff, which especially helped since if it's rare jumbo sized varient, they always are since this is a rich neighborhood. Beast Boy got a jumbo sized Tootsie pop, two jolly ranchers and a big Reese's Cup. Robin got a purple starburst, a jumbo sized Tootsie Roll, a roll of sweet tarts, a blue cotton candy lolly pop and a piece of peppermint candy. Jinx got a large box of Milk duds, a bag of life savers, an almond joy, a three musketeers, and a box of lemonheads. Cyborg got two pieces of bubblegum, a large Twix bar, a bag of Swedish Fish, and a milky way. Starfire got a jumbo sized chocolate bar, three saltwater taffies, an extra long Butterfinger, a bag of jolly ranchers and Hershey's Kisses. Robin got a bag of sour patch kids, a Tootsie pop, a big box of hot tamales and a bag of candy corn. Beast Boy got a box of Starbursts, a bag of snickers, and some M&M's. Raven only got two pieces next, but they were the all time favorites of jumbo sized Reese's cups and skittles. After about an hour, each of their bags were already half full.
"I have got five almond joys." Jinx started first.
"I gots me a three musketeers, amigoes!" Beast Boy exclaimed.
"I have gotten the duds that are milky, but oddly someone has also given me this rock." Starfire showed the piece of inedible stone.
"Ugh, must be some ungrateful jerk." Robin groaned.
"Hey, this could be a good thing. Now you can have a pet rock Star." The green changeling tried to lighten the situation.
"You can make rocks into pets? I did not know minerals were naturally sentient." The alien pondered.
"Well, most aren't. It's just a thing people doe to have fun. You just put too googly eyes on it, maybe a hat as well, put it on your desk or drawer and bam! A pet rock!"
"Interesting." However, their fun was interrupted when kids started screaming more than usual. They turned to see it was the Hive! Gizmo, dressed as the devil itself, controlled an army of drones dressed as ghosts with lasers shooting at decorations. Those that were far enough to run, a spooky teen looked like a combination of a supervillain and a vampire teleported to the running kids and took their bags, before going back to give them to a pirate dressed See-more, who both took the candies, and threw left and right eggs that splattered against the houses. Billy Numerous, dressed as a cowboy, raided multiple homes at once robbing houses of their candy bowls. When the police came, Mammoth, dressed as an actual wooly mammoth, charged and knocked the cars over onto their roofs. They all laughed as they reveled in their evil until four of them heard a familiar voice.
"Guys?!" They turned to see the titans.
"Jinx?!" Gizmo gasped.
"What are you doing here?!" They both asked loudly.
"I'm trick or treating because my friend Raven never celebrated the holiday. What about you?"
"Well, ever since you left, we had to be assigned a fifth member, though Mammoth and I argued we didn't want to replace you. But...you know Brother Blood. He can't take no for an answer. This is-"
"Kyd Wykkyd. I recall." The former Hive member crossed her arms with an irritated look on her face. "No one else in the Hive had such a dumb sounding name. Never graduated elementary school to spell properly dork?"
"Who needs to properly spell their name when it's unique and awesome?" He defended with a grave look.
"Anyway." The Hive devil tried to cool down the situation. "Brother Blood wanted to see how we'd handle a field operation together. And since we were still depressed you were gone, he gave us a team bonding mission of ruining Halloween for Jump City. We've already robbed like three other neighborhoods, and used a signal jammer so that nobody could reach you titans."
"I can't-I can't believe you guys!" Jinx yelled at them as her temper shot through the roof, her clenched hands trembling. "Even if Brother Blood is ordering you to, you're celebrating evil without me! Your replacement is one of the worst members and you you guys looked like you were having fun with him! And your first mission is to celebrate ruining Halloween?! In costume no less?! Even though holidays didn't mean anything to me it would've been nice if you at least asked if I wanted to do something evil, but you never did! I just-I..." Jinx couldn't think of anything to say so she walked off grumbling. "You guys are the worst. How utterly embarrassing." The girl said through her teeth as she somersaulted up the house walls and disappeared over the roofs.
"Jinx." Gizmo mumbled with remorse.
"Hive, we're going to take you down!" Robin yelled at them. "Titans, GO!" He threw a birdarang at Kyd Wykkyd, whom teleported away, only to knock against See-more's head with a painful thonk.
"Retreat!" Kyd Wykkyd yelled as he and the others ran off.
"Raven, get the treats back!" The Boy Wonder ordered. Using her magic, the bags the Hive were carrying glowed black as they were yanked out of all but Mammoth, who held on tight as he was unwilling to let go his share. "Star, take Mammoth out!" Throwing off the white bed sheet, the alien princess warrior zoomed ahead and got a free punch into his face, forcing him to let go. He groaned as he landed on a car. Now at a greater distance, Gizmo gave the command to his ghostly drones to attack the titans, but they turned on him instead.
"What?!"
"Sorry Gizmo, but I had plently of time to hack them! Booyah!" Cyborg yelled in triumph as they chased after him. Kyd Wykkyd, in an unexpected move, nabbed Raven from behind and teleported her away from the group. Now on another street, Raven broke free and tried to blast him away with her soul-self, only for the villain to teleport away. He came in from behind again to ram his elbow into the back of the girl's head, and while she was still stunned from the blow, he teleported right in front of her and kneed her stomach. She tried punching him but he evaded, and the half-demon got kicked in the back for her effort. Trying to retaliate, she kicked back, but not where one would think he is. Instead of kicking behind her, the female titan kicked forward, hitting the unsuspecting Hive member in the lower abdomen, and proceeded to give him an upper-cut. She tried continuing her attack with another kick, but he once again teleported. Before she could defend and counter, this time Raven was the one who got an upper-cut to the chin, a punch to the back of her head and finally a kick to the gut. Needing distance, the Pegasus costumed titan tried blasting him, but his teleportation was too fast, as he started spamming around her, too fast for her to track.
"Don't you see? I'm Kyd Wykkyd! Nothing except lucky shots can hit me! Not to mention you look ridiculous in that pony outfit!"
"Oh yeah?! Azarath Metrion Zinthos!" Sending out an omni-directional black magic wave, the evil villain tried to teleport again, but couldn't this time, yelling as he fell into a bush. She then smugly loomed down over him.
"What?!"
"I basically used a superpower EMP. Now you're just a regular teenager. And by the way, I'm a Pegasus." The half-demon sorceress gloated before proceeding to kick her foe in the face, knocking him out. Using a portal to send him to jail, she then used her own teleportation to get back to her friends. Mammoth is knocked out completely now, and Gizmo was wrapped up, and all there was left is See-More and Billy Numerous, whom were trying to escape by creating a Billy Barrier to block the titans off.
"Bro, you thinking what I'm thinking?" Cyborg asked Beast Boy.
"Oh yeah. Hey Rave, you remember that Itchybody and the Frog story?!"
"I like the way you think. Azarath Metrion Zinthos!" Raven chanted as she sent her magic into Beast Boy, whom used his powers in conjunction. As he transformed into a horse, his body went from green to black and skeletal, along with burning due to green fire erupting from within. The cloak around him grew and became tattered, making his appearance even scarier. Once Cyborg jumped on, they reared back as Beast Boy gave a haunting neigh. They were now fully the headless horseman. Cyborg cackled as they plowed through the barrier with all their might, and he threw his head at the running villains. One Two! His head smacked into both via ricochet and the two dropped down on their hands and knees, disoriented. Once they vision cleared up, they looked up to see the nightmarish appearance of the two titans about to do what the Headless Horseman does!
"Ah, we surrender!" Billy cried out.
"Just don't chop our heads off!" See-more sobbed. Cyborg's body got off of Beast Boy, picked the two up, and slammed their heads together, clonking them unconscious. Once Raven returned Beast Boy back into his normal self, the five titans celebrated.
"Best Halloween ever!" Robin cheered along with Starfire.
"Tonight was so fun, yo!" Beast Boy agreed.
"I haven't had this much fun since I was a kid!" Cyborg happily bellowed.
"Thanks for spending Halloween with me guys." Raven thanked.
"And thank you for helping us have fun on Halloween." Robin remarked.
"Now there's just one problem." The female titan brought up.
"Yeah, Jinx." Cyborg remembered. Then he thought of something. "Oh, I got an idea!"
Jinx sat alone in the tower, only having Luna as company. She tried not crying, and has been successful so far, but now it just seemed harder to pull off. Hanging with the Teen Titans have made it harder to just close her emotions out, so in an effort to keep some self dignity, the girl just let her tears stream out silently and only gave an audible sob every now and then when it couldn't be contained.
"Jinx, we're home!" She heard Robin call out. Brought out from her wallowing, the former villainess snorted her snot back and wiped away her tears.
"Put yourself together Jinx. Nobody wants to see you an emotional wreck." Hugging Luna for just a few seconds before letting her go to stand up, Jinx left her room and went to the living room where the titans were. "So, you beat them up good?"
"Beastie and I went all Headless Horseman on two of them!" Cyborg loudly answered. "Knocked them down with my head and then out together!" The sad girl lightly smiled hearing that.
"Kyd Wykkyd was a bit tricky, but he wasn't too hard once I took his power." Raven shrugged, before wincing and clutching her body. "Ow. Although he got way more hits in than I did. But I'll manage. I can heal injuries so no biggie." Jinx softly laughed.
"Even though he's not that great of an operative, he can be quite bothersome with that ability."
"Friend Jinx, when we saved the neighborhoods and returned all that was stolen, we were rewarded with our bags completely filled. Look." Starfire showed her fellow teammate a bag, and she gasped to see it was nearly filled to the brim.
"Oh man, we're going to be so sugar hyped the next few weeks." She sounded excited again. Robin then stepped up to her.
"Jinx, I'm sorry that tonight was not as great as it could be because of the Hive. I won't say that you should move on or repeat that we're your true family since you know that and two of them are friends of yours. But, I think there is a way that we can salvage tonight."
"And what would that be?" She asked intrigued.
"Baugh! Come on Jinx! This is totally childish!" Gizmo cried out as they were dunked in and out of a barrel filled with apples. They were wrapped in magic chains Raven created that was being pulled by Cyborg and Jinx.
"What, apples are healthy for kids like you. You certainly need the nutrition." She cackled as the two dunked the four again. Since they were too old for Halloween, the next best thing brought back one aspect they could get behind. Use tricks and mess with the Hive every year on the spooky holiday.
"Hey guys, let us play pin the tail on the Hive!" Beast Boy suggested. Four of the titans cheered as they took the mortified villains away, leaving Jinx and Raven.
"Raven, thanks. If you haven't convinced us to do this, then I would never have come to appreciate Halloween."
"Don't mention it. It was nice to finally celebrate it to. Now let's go play that game. I'm sure you'd really like to have payback with See-more." The half-demon sorceress suggested. Jinx smiled evilly.
"With pleasure."
A/N: This was a lot of fun. Hey, I have an important announcement. As of this moment, all canon of TTG will be put on hold of fixing for a holiday marathon, just to get them out of the way without interrupting the story line ever couple or few chapters. In a row after this, will be custom made chapters on the ever beloved holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, Valentines Day and Easter. That way it won't be until next Halloween that all the major ones everyone celebrates start up again. No suggestions are required here. Happy Holiday Marathon!
