It was a nice day in the park, with four of the titans in the city park. Cyborg was tossing a frisbee while Beast as a 'Green-don' retriever dog ran to catch it and bring it back. Raven and Jinx were reading a book nearby titled 'Ghostly Girls'.
"Hey, it's the Teen Titans!" The two male adults turned to see three children approach them. Two boys and a girl, the girl and one of the boys Caucasian and the other boy black, though the girl was tanned. "Hey, can we play with you?!"
"Sure." Cyborg replied. "Hey Jinx, want to play frisbee with us?!"
"Alright! Hold that place for me will ya?" Folding a page, Raven gave her a thumbs up while the witch went to join her other friends and children. Every so often when someone would throw the disk to Garfield, he would turn into a different four legged animal. A tiger, a wolf, a horse, and even at one point even a dragon. As the kids talked, Cyborg noticed what they were talking about.
"I wonder if they could do something about that ghost at school?" The black kid said.
"Yeah, if anybody can deal with that ghost it's the titans!" The girl affirmed.
"Ghosts? What do you mean by ghosts? The metallic titan asked.
"Well, it was about 25 years ago when a girl tripped down some stairs and died, and strange stuff has been happening."
"Oh yeah." Beast responded with a look of understanding. "Yeah we got haunted a short bit by Bloody Mary. But turns out she just wanted her comb to get all the excess blood out."
"Oh yeah I remember that." Jinx nodded.
"Still gives me shivers. Cyborg cringed from the memory. "Try having a hand reach into your chest cavity, even if it's for a comb."
"Freaky." One of the kids remarked. "Hey, maybe you guys can figure this out? That way school isn't creepy anymore?"
"We can sure try." Beast shrugged. "Rave and I can detect ghosts, and Jinx could use some of the seance stuff since turns out that's one of her 'unique' skills as she calls them." The green hero chuckled with quotation marks. "I mean, it totally worked and the others were spooked, but how often do you know someone who knows mediumship?"
"Lucky people, obviously." The pink haired witch retorted with a smug look.
"Cool! Hey, we got to get home, but it was great playing with you!" The girl said as she and her friends ran off. "Man they're so cool!"
"Nice kids." Garfield chuckled. "Hey Rave, we're going to find a ghost at a middle school!" He saw her smile while giving a thumbs up at the idea, not taking her eyes off her book. "Yeah, she's in."
"I don't know. I'm still afraid of ghosts." Cyborg gulped. "What if this turns out to be actually threatening unlike Bloody Mary?"
"It's a possibility." Jinx shrugged. "But even if the ghost is stronger than we anticipate, Raven this time has prep to handle it."
That night, the four titans slinked into the school in question, it was raining hard. There was even a flash of lightning as Raven and Beast lead the other two of Jinx and Cyborg.
"Come on you big baby." The witch snickered. "How often does one get to sneak through a haunted school? Like that gang with Clue the Mutt?"
"Hey, I'd love to be in one of those compared to now. At least it's always some person in a costume." Victor asserted. That was when they heard a knock on a door to their right. A music room. Garfield stepped forth, the three behind him silent with big eyes as they waited with still breathes as he opened the door, and was greeted with a flash of lightning.
"Whoa!" Beast cried out as he stumbled back into the arms of his friends.
"Chill dude, it was just lightning." Jinx said.
"But that's what didn't knock the door. Plus, I have hearing more acute than all ya'lls."
"Wait, I can sense something in here." Raven said as she stepped into the room. Waving a glowing hand through the room, and the air started to glow slightly cyan colored. "We actually aren't alone." Something wet and heavy ran past them back in the hall, and the titans turned back gasping.
"What was that?!" Cyborg questioned fearfully. Turning into a dog, Beast stepped out and looked both ways, not seeing anything. But there was a trail of water.
"It's going this way." Garfield said as he walked as he and the others turned right. Going up some stairs to the second floor, the trail of water lead to a set of lockers at the end of a hall in which unlike all the other ones, these were old and beat up, like they left alone from the early 90's. The trail of water lead to one at the absolute end above a locker below.
"Alright, now it's my turn." Jinx said as she cracked her knuckles and took stuff out of her bag. Lighting some candles and writing a circle with runes. "Now everybody join hands." Jinx, Cyborg, Beast and Raven did so while sitting. "Close your eyes, and pray with me." Coughing first, she then said with her friends echoing her, "Spirit show yourself, spirit reveal. Spirit come to me so that I know you're real." They said this multiple times until the locker they were in front of started to shake. It suddenly slammed open, bursting with water which splashed onto the floor with enough water to ruin the circle and put out the candles. Cyborg was also the only one affected by the water going around his legs and butt since they were made of metal, unlike the others where they were exposed. Golden eyes glowed from the darkness of the locker, before a cat jumped out, sopping wet. As it landed its tail plopped onto the floor. But it wasn't just the cat. A girl with short black hair and a pudgy face showed herself, illuminated clearly for a second as her head hung limply due to a gnarly looking neck, twisted at an angle no one could survive with. Her face seemed expressionless, sort of like she was depressed with no emotion at all. Planting her hands against the sides of the open locker, the ghostly girl pulled herself out with some struggle, looking like even with her blue ethereal body she was too big to squeeze out of there. But she was able to pull herself out despite the serious girth, appearing to be a little over 200 pounds.
"What do you want?" The girl questioned, picking up her wet cat. Gulping, Jinx asked the ghost,
"Wha-what is your name, spirit?"
"I'm..." The girl looked like she was having trouble remembering. "... Abby. Abby... Mitchell. Why have you summoned me?"
"It has come to our attention you were haunting these halls. And we were wondering why?" Abby looked downward, looking more depressed now aside from her resting face.
"I have... unfinished business. My killers. They're still free. I want closure, but I don't know where they are."
"Who did this to you?" The witch questioned. Abby closed her eyes as she began to cry and hold her wet cat closer. It rubbed its cheek against her perpetually down-facing cheek.
"I... I can't remember their names. But... they were horrible. I wasn't any different than anyone here. I tried to be healthy. I loved listening to jazz. And I love Mr. Whiskers." She hugged her cat more. "But those... bullies; they made fun of my weight even though I inherited diabetes. They called me Flabby Abby. They'd take my music. But worst of all is that they drowned my cat just to hurt me. They chased me because I threatened to tell the teachers, and I tripped on the back stairs and broke my neck. They ran off and were never punished. It was my last day of being a freshman too."
"That's... so terrible." Jinx replied as tears trailed down her face.
"We've all been discriminated too." Garfield sighed. "And none of us had any power over who we are."
"But we were able to help each other. You had friends to help you, right?"
"They tried, but the friends I can't remember couldn't do anything against my tormentors. Too strong. Too powerful in status. They were untouchable."
"Maybe we can help." Raven suggested.
"That perked the spirit's attention.
"Really? You'll help me get my revenge?"
"Non-fatally mind you. Can't have you going all 'The Grudgeful Ring' on these people, but we'll help however we can so that what they did comes to light." For once in the past quarter century, the ghost smiled.
"Oh thank you!" She hopped up and down, causing her rolls and hair to bounce. But then she remembered as her frown returned. "Oh wait, I don't remember their names."
"Don't worry. I'll help." The half-demon sorceress smiled.
Fred Johnson, aged 43, was getting ready to work as an advertising agent. Smiling to himself while straightening his tie, he clicked while giving himself gun hands. "Alright, time to do your thing you handsome devil.
"Murderer." He heard a whisper, causing his grin to disappear.
"Who said that?"
"Murderer." He heard again, this time louder. Going to a table, he opened a drawer and pulled out a gun.
"Show yourself! I am willing to claim self-defense and frame you as the aggressor!" That was when the TV turned on, directing his attention to it. It showed a man in bed, cradling what appeared to be a suitcase as he rocked back and forth. A music box played as the shot slowly circled around the man's back.
"Oooooone, two. Abby's coming for you."
"What is this?" Fred questioned as he stepped to the TV, trying to turn it off with his remote but it did nothing. The shot then went overhead.
"Threeeeee, four. Your corpse on the floor." As the shot showed the man's face, Fred was horrified that it was his own, inflicted brutal damage but still recognizable. Fiiiiive, six. You bullied for kicks. Seveeeeen, eight. Repent before it's too late." The TV started to bulge as an obese female's body in a fetal position began to take shape within the image of the suitcase. "Niiiiiine, ten-" The TV tipped over and smashed onto the floor. Suitably unnerved, the man took a few steps to his ruined TV and tapped his shoe against it, only for a hand to shoot out and grab his ankle. He yelled as he shot rounds into his TV but was pulled down onto the floor hard. Gasping in pain, he got to witness from this lower angle the face of the girl he was indirectly responsible of killing.
"Flabby Abby?" He asked in recognition before water started to drip onto his head and shirt. Turning his face up, Fred saw a water drenched cat clinging to the ceiling above him until and screeched and let go, falling as he screamed and aimed his gun at it.
Kevin Walker woke up from his sleep as his alarm went off. He and his wife groaned as they woke up.
"Hey baby." Kevin said as he caressed his wife, even as she recoiled. While she faced away from him under the blanket, her arms and body were covered in bruises. "How about you make me a shower?" When she didn't move he yanked at her short blonde hair back so he could see her blue eyes. "Is there a problem?"
"No." She replied as she got up and went to the bathroom. Kevin got and and stretched as he put on a shirt and pants and went to have breakfast and a drink. He passed by a pure white cat they had, a gift he got for his wife. As he made his bowl and drink, he heard a scream which made him jump.
"Sandra?!" Kevin asked as he went to her. "What the hell did you do?!"
"The cat! It drowned!" Confused, he walked faster until he entered the spacious bathroom and looked into the bathrub, which had a drowned cat.
"What the hell? That ain't our cat you moron!" He struck her across the face. "Our cat is white! This cat is-" Taking a close look at the cat, it was familiar. Why was it familiar when he swore he knew no one had a cat like this for miles around?
"Kevin?" Sandra asked, and he turned only to see his wife gaining weight rapidly. "What's happening to me." She put her hands on her belly, trying to squeeze it down.
"Sandra? What's wrong with you?!" He went from unnerved to terrified as he witnessed his wife expand, gaining tens of pounds per second as her hips grew wider and wider, followed by her legs as she had to spread them out. Soon even her arms and face swelled as her body ripped through the slim green nightgown she wore. Her hair also shifted from blonde to black and her eyes from blue to brown. As this happened, her looks reminded him of his favorite victim from high school.
"Abby? Flabby Abby?" Mr. Whiskers then jumped out of the bath, and hissed at Kevin. He backed up to the toilet as Abby and Mr. Whiskers came closer to him. She then pointed at him.
"Murderer.
"Hey, I don't know how you're doing this you fat freak, but you're dead! I have a life for my own! And a wife! Give her back!"
"The wife you beat with your belt?" Abby held up her arms covered in bruises. "A belt because using your fists would draw attention?" When the two ghosts got to close he tried to side step them.
"Get away from me!" However, he tripped on the water on the floor and fell into the bath tub. But as he tried to get out, Abby clutched his throat as she got as much as she could into the bath with him.
"This is what Mr. Whiskers went through!" She then plunged his head below the water. He tried taking hold of Abby and pushing her off but the ghost was simply too heavy. Not that he could even if she was lighter since she can go intangible. He screamed until he was brought up. "Admit your crimes or burn in hell for all times." She plunged his head again for several seconds before pulling it back to repeat. "Admit your crimes or burn in hell for all times!" She dunked him one final time before screaming in a demonic voice, "ADMIT YOUR CRIMES OR BURN IN HELL FOR ALL TIMES!" The lights then went out for a second before Abby disappeared. Panicking, Kevin pulled himself out of the bath while coughing up water, before seeing her back to normal wife. Asleep, but normal.
"God." That was the only thing he said before passing out.
Much later in the day when it was night, the last victim would be Chad Wagner, a successful car salesman heading for home in his black 1987 Ferrari F40 listening to rock and roll. Sure, one would assume a car salesman might not have the money to own such a beauty, but he's done things for the right people which allowed him to afford it. He was driving down a scarcely used highway to save time on getting home. It was there that lights turned on from behind, and he looked into his mirror. It was a red Plymouth coming into view.
"Oh cool, a '58 Christine." Chad chuckled. "That was a good Steven Queen movie." However, that awe would turn into horror as the undercarriage would ignite, resulting in the car turning into something more demonic.
"Wha-no! No I can't be in that movie! I don't want to die!" Chad yelled in fright as he floored it, going as fast as his Ferrari can go. But even with a classic sports car such as Chad's Abby's Christine never even earned a foot of distance between their gap. Abby sat in the drivers seat with Mr. Whiskers in the passenger as she shifted gears from her current setting to 'Destroy' as the car sped up, reaching to the Ferarri and turned right to bump the back right wheel. Chad screamed as he spun out of control and smashed into a building on the passenger side. Chad groaned as he stumbled out out of his seat, and fell to the ground. Climbing onto his car for support, he saw the angry red flaming Plymouth, and saw no one in there. The headlights shifted to red, metal bent forward to partially obstruct the light in a way it was glaring at him, and the 'mouth' of the car roared, exposing its fiery engine like a tongue as it zoomed towards him. Chad screamed as he put his hands up, awaiting his end when it flashed white and disappeared, echoes of a crash bellowing through the area. Chad opened his eyes and saw that aside from lines of fire scorched into the road by the tires, it was like the demonic car was never there. Gasping from terror, he tried to get back in his car so that he could sit, but he was only able to open the door before screaming and falling onto his butt as he saw Abby in the seat, her neck broken on the steering wheel. She was staring at him hatefully as she said,
"Turn yourself in, or you'll wind up just like this." The car then exploded causing Chad to be pushed and rolled back. Crying, he ran from the wreckage of the car.
"If you're just tuning in, we have some breaking news this morning on ABC7." A news person said behind a desk. Both yesterday morning and night, three men have confessed they have accidentally killed a girl they claimed to come back from the dead to haunt them. We're referring to Jump City High's death report of freshman school girl Abigail Mitchell back in 1991 when she was found with a broken neck at the bottom of some stairs and a drowned cat which is her pet. The men in question are Fred Johnson, Kevin Walker and Chad Wagner, all seniors in that year who graduated on the day of her death and bullied her that year." From that point on all the titans, including Abby were cheering as her tormentors were brought to justice.
"Oh thank you so much! Now I can finally rest in peace. Hopefully I can see my parents in the next life.
"Actually-" Cyborg said as he told her what he had in mind. In the downtown suburbs, Abby knocked a door of a residential house. It opened to show an overweight woman nearing her fifties. Her eyes widened as she saw Abby holding Mr. Whiskers, in front of the titans.
"Mark, Mark come quick!" The woman said as she opened the door wider. An even fatter man with greying hair and all the hair on the top of his head gone and prescription glasses came to his wife.
"What is i-" He stopped when he saw his daughter. "A-Abby?"
"Mom, Dad." Abby cried, as she let her cat jump down so that she could hug her parents.
"Abby, my sweet baby." The woman cried.
"It's a miracle Linda." Mark uttered as the family cried.
"You can thank the miracle as me." Raven said. "I've mover her 'haunting'..." Raven used finger quotes. "... from the school to your house. Now she's going to lovingly haunt you for the rest of your days until all three of you move onto the next life."
"Thank you Raven." Linda replied. And so a family was finally brought back together, and on occasion Raven, Jinx, Beast or Cyborg in whatever order would come visit to see how she was doing.
A/N: Whoo. That was some good horror building. The first and third ones were obviously based on horror movies like Nightmare on Elm Street and Christine and the second I took inspiration from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory with Violet's expansion. How did you think I did? Hopefully I didn't use the diabetic thing incorrectly. I don't personally know any diabetics and it's not like it was a main feature or anything. Just that the bullies were making fun of her for her weight. Please review about how I did in this.
