A/N: Hey, so, while I made the lead up in the last chapter, seem like I was going to cover the episode "What's Opera Titans, but then I watch the episode an then realize that I had no idea how to fix or alter it based on how it was made. Much trickier than anticipated given how they were presented. So just assume that the dream sequences in the episode went ahead as normal but the children at the orphanage had a good laugh as opera parodies. If Eris ever gets back to me and gives an idea how to fix the episode, i'll publish it and move it to before this chapter, but as far as I know, Eris is just gone now. I don't know what happened to them.
"Ah, breath in the fresh air, Titans." Nightwing told his group at the superhero summer camp. "Once again, we return to the majestic outdoors. But this time, at a summer camp for the next week."
"I'm going's to be ones with Mother Nature, yo!" Beast proclaimed."
"A week without online harassment!" Starfire and Cyborg yelled at the same time.
"And to frolic in the outdoors." Jinx sighed in relief while Raven smiled in agreement.
"And don't forget about the friendly camp competitions. Like the canoe race, and for this year, the theme is based on pirates." Starfire scratched her head in confusion.
"But are not the pirates based in the Atlantic, especially the Caring Bean Islands?"
"You mean the Caribbean Islands, Star. And yes, that's where pirates usually plundered in the seas, among other oceanic areas, but this is just to spice things up for the yearly canoe race."
"Hey Titans!" A familiar voice called. They turned to see that was their old friend, Bumblebee.
"Yo, Bumblebee!" Cyborg called back, the two Titans performing an elaborate handshake before a hug. "How you doing?"
"I'm doing great! Or... at least as much as I'm trying to be." The size shifting Titan sounded a little despondent.
"What do you mean?"
"Well... it wasn't too long ago, but... I left Titans East too." The main Titans were shocked to hear this. Cyborg inquired,
"You too?! I thought only Red Arrow left!"
"That was the case in between the prom thing and the second Justice League top idol, but... I was just tired of being the leader of that group. I was feeling burnt out, and underappreciated. Ever since Donna took Red Arrow's position, she displayed qualities that I wish I had. My brash and independent personality just couldn't match with her highly charismatic leadership skills and friendly attitude making everyone listen to her more. So I quietly left and appointed her as leader of Titans East. I came here to just... get away from Steel City for a while. The great outdoors has been very refreshing."
"Oh, I'm sorry to hear that Bumblebee." Nightwing put a hand on her shoulder. "Maybe you'd like to hang with us? I know the girls just love their get togethers." He gestured to Starfire, Raven and Jinx, who looked excited to possibly have her be part of the team.
"I think that sounds great! I needs me some proper girl time after so long!"
"Yeah!" The four girls shouted as they high five.
"But just so you guys know, I haven't decided on permanently being part of your team." Bumblebee established. "You guys might find me annoying to deal with long term."
"We lived with Beast and Cy for years. You can't be that annoying." Raven snarked with a smile, causing Bumblebee to laugh hard, and the two guys to awkwardly chuckle.
"Hahaha! Good one, Raven! While I'm serious about being on the fence, I do feel good knowing that you guys are used to annoyances. Now, with that out the way, let's go win the canoe race!" The Titans agreed as they went to the river, where seven different canoes, fashioned to look like pirate ships, were docked. Anywhere between 3-7 heroes and heroines were in each respective boat. The hero supervisors were Deadman, Swamp Thing, Shazam, Green Arrow, Black Canary, The Atom, Plastic Man and Supergirl. Heroes who had time in their schedules to supervise this week.
"Let's win this race, dudes and dudettes!" Beast cheered his friends.
"Argh, that's the spirit, matey!" Nightwing smiled as he held up some pirate clothes that were provided. "Are you Buccaneers ready to win this race?!"
"Argh!" They all responded with enthusiasm.
"Sorry, but I can't wear the pirate suit." Bumblebee told them. "Only my hero suit is adapted to my power set."
"That's fine. The rest of us will just get changed." And so the rest of the Teen Titans put on the pirates outfits. Nightwing had an open green vest, maroon, shorts, sandals, and a red bandanna. Cyborg had an eyepatch over his robotic eye, a bandanna over his head, and replaced his left hand with a hook. Starfire wore a frilly lavender blouse, a tricorn hat, a scarf, and a flowing knee length skirt to match her pirate boots and high waist belt. Beast wore a purple bandanna along with a purple/pink striped shirt, shorts and pirate shoes. Raven didn't change her outfit much. Just a pirate hat, pirate boots, and a skull clasp for her cloak. Jinx had some of the above, like an eyepatch and tricorn hat, along with a cutlass, but also donned a leather vest over her white button up shirt, and cotton canvas shorts.
Once the starting pistol was fired, the boats began to race. One would think the boats with the more rowers would have the inherent advantage of rowing power, but with more rowers, that adds the higher likelihood of acting disorganized and harder to row in unison. One such team having the least amount of difficulty on that were the Teen Titans, who despite being composed of 7 members in their boat, Nightwing expertly had them heave and ho with efficient teamwork.
"Heave, ho! Heave, ho! Heave, ho! How be the view from the bow?!"
"Right as rain, captain!" Cyborg responded.
"How be the sails?!"
"We do not have the sails, the Captain!" Starfire pointed out.
"How be the poopdeck?!"
"There ain't no deck to have poop on, Captain!" Beast also pointed out.
"Then let's sink these competitors!" Using a toy cannon filled with rocks, Nightwing and the other captains of their boats shot rocks at each other similar to cannonballs to sink each other as fast as they could. Several canoes sank, especially when was latched onto by an anchor. And the Titans were pulling ahead due to their coordination.
"Argh, being a pirate is the best!" Richard cheered.
"Now nothing can stop us from winning this race!" Cyborg laughed. "Booyah!" However, some of the remaining boats in the last stretch decided to use their individual advantages. Jayna of the Wonder Twins turned into an octopus to row eight oars at once, Superboy used his super breath to increase their speed, and so forth.
"Cyborg, engage motor fan!" The Titan leader ordered. Victor constructed a giant fan to propel the canoe, along with Bumblebee shooting honey at any of the boats to make roaring harder. The Teen Titans celebrated as they crossed in 1st place, being given the trophy when they docked on land.
"Bumblebee, if there was any doubt, you certainly prune yourself as being a worthy member of our specific Titan team." Nightwing praised the bee themed hero. Starfire hugged her row mate, unintentionally crushing the air out of her lungs.
"It is the possible that we could have not won without you!"
"Yous be just like us!" Beast patted her back.
