Author's note: Hello everyone! I have been watching Winx Club since I was in second grade, and I've always loved every episode! I have decided to write this little story, and see where it goes. If you like it and if you want to see more of this story, please review, and I may do a part 2. Thank you, and please read, review, and enjoy!

Disclaimer: I do not own Winx Club. If I did, things would be very different. I am just doing this for fun.

Opponents Become Allies

Summary: What happens when a third party intervenes in the dynamics between two sworn enemies?

Alfea College for Fairies and Cloud Tower for Witches were two very different schools. One school was for fairies, and the other was for witches. That was just the beginning of the differences.

Fairies were largely known for their kindness, while witches were largely known for their cruelty. More importantly, there was a group of fairies called the Winx Club, which consisted of six fairies who went to Alfea. There were a group of witches called The Trix who had gone to Cloud Tower until they were expelled.

The Winx and the Trix were the complete opposite. The Winx were nice, helpful, and always saved the day, whereas the Trix were evil, loved hurting people, and always tried to ruin the day. Bloom, Fairy of the Dragon Flame, and Icy, Witch of Ice, despised each other. In fact, Bloom was constantly defending herself due to Icy's unexpected attacks. It was rather fitting as fire and ice were opposites too.

One rainy morning, the Winx were shopping in Magix City. Stella, Fairy of the Shining Sun, was not happy about the weather.

"Why did we come out here to shop in this rain?" Stella asked, irritated. "The rain is going to ruin my nail polish! It's going to mess up my hair!"

"Um, Stella, it was your idea to go shopping today," Musa, Fairy of Music, reminded her friend.

"Well, then why didn't one of you tell me it was going to rain?!" Stella exclaimed as the rain started to come down harder.

"I did tell you, Stella," Tecna, Fairy of Technology, said with a sigh. Stella grumbled under her breath as they headed to the next store she wanted to go into.

Bloom wandered around the store, looking at different dresses. All of a sudden, she felt a cold shiver run down her spine. She turned around only to find herself face to face with Icy.

"Well, well, well," Icy greeted her coldly. "If it isn't Bloom."

"What are you doing here, Icy?" Bloom asked. "I didn't think you were the type to go clothes shopping."

"Oh, do you think that witches don't get new clothes like losers do?" Icy asked, clearly not amused by Bloom's comment. Before Bloom could open her mouth to say anything, Icy sent Bloom an ice blast. Bloom ducked just in time. She was used to this kind of attack from Icy, so defending herself came naturally to her now.

That was all it took. A battle ensued with spells flying back and forth in the middle of the clothing store.

Suddenly, the shopkeeper appeared, and with a wave of her hand, Bloom and Icy found themselves powerless, literally.

"What do you think you're doing?!" Icy yelled angrily.

"There is no dueling in my shop," the shopkeeper said sternly. "Do you know what happens to those who duel in a store?" Bloom and Icy looked at her, confused. "The people involved are put in a room without magic until they can work out their differences," the shopkeeper said. "Come, both of you."

"But, my friends! They'll be worried about me if I don't come out!" Bloom exclaimed.

"Your friends will be informed. The sooner you two work out your differences, the sooner you can see your friends, Princess Bloom," the shopkeeper explained.

Icy glared at the shopkeeper. "You CANNOT DO THIS TO ME!" she screamed, losing her temper.

"I can, and I will," the shopkeeper shot back. "Now, throwing a tantrum will not get you out of this. Come, both of you. Follow me." They had no choice but to follow the shopkeeper to a room at the back of the store. They entered the room. It was dimly lit, and it smelled like it was not used often. "Now, you will stay in here until the room determines you have worked out your differences," the shopkeeper said, closing the door as she left the room. They heard the door lock.

"I CANNOT BELIEVE THIS!" Icy screamed, trying desperately to unlock the door. Bloom just stood there silently, letting Icy get her anger out of her system.

Finally, when Icy was calmer, Bloom broke the silence. "So, I guess we're stuck in here," Bloom said.

"Obviously," Icy said coolly.

"What should we talk about?" Bloom asked, knowing that remaining silent would not get them out of there.

"I don't care!" Icy snapped.

"Um... how about we talk about our families?" Bloom asked. Icy tensed up at the mention of family. Bloom quickly continued, "For most of my life, I just thought I was a normal Earth girl, but when I was sixteen, I found out I had magic. It was a shock, to say the least. I then found out during spring break that I had been adopted. I spent a lot of time trying to find out where I was from, who my real parents were, and I kept having this voice telling me different things. I found out later that it was Daphne. I had no idea that I had a sister. It was Daphne who really guided me throughout the years, and if it had not been for her, I would still not have my birth parents back."

Icy was quiet for a moment, then she responded, "I also have a sister."

Bloom blinked. "W-what?" she asked with surprise.

"Well, more like, I HAD a sister," Icy said bitterly.

"What do you mean? What happened to her?" Bloom asked curiously.

"She got trapped on my home planet, Dyamond, never to be seen again," Icy explained. "That is when everything changed. I wanted to become powerful, to..."

"What's your sister's name?" Bloom interrupted, not wanting to hear about Icy becoming powerful.

"Sapphire," Icy revealed. "But I'll never see her again."

"Don't say that," Bloom said. "You should go back to Dyamond, to see if she's still there, and see if you can save her," Bloom suggested.

"I'm not powerful enough to save her!" Icy snapped. "Every time I try to become more powerful, you and your friends stop me!"

Bloom paused. "Wait, you want to become more powerful so that you can save her?" Bloom asked.

"Yes," Icy admitted.

"You don't need to become more powerful just to save someone," Bloom informed her. "All you need are people to help you. My friends and I never try to save people alone, because by ourselves, we may not be powerful enough to do it, but together, working as a team, we can do anything."

"But I don't have any FRIENDS to help me," Icy said coolly.

"What about Darcy and Stormy?" Bloom asked.

"They're not my friends, they've just been my allies, but even they wouldn't help me," Icy responded. "They're just there to help me do cruel things."

Bloom thought for a moment. "So, you're not actually evil?" she asked. "You were trying to become more powerful?" Icy nodded. "Then I have an idea," Bloom continued, looking straight into Icy's eyes. "If you promise not to ever do evil things again, and to use your powers for good, not bad, then I will help you save Sapphire and maybe, the rest of the Winx will too." Then she paused and said, "Well, technically, people can't change overnight and changing will be hard, so all I want is for you to try your best."

Icy hesitated for a moment. Finally, she answered, "Okay, I promise to never be cruel to anyone ever again, and I will use my powers for good, not evil. I'll do my best." They stepped closer, and shook hands.

"Deal," they said in unison. With that, the door unlocked. They were free.

"Come on, Icy," Bloom said. "Let's go save Sapphire!" And for the first time ever, Bloom and Icy were not opponents. They were allies, fighting for the same cause. Time would tell if this alliance would hold, but for now, the fact that they were no longer trying to duel each other was a step in the right direction.
