The Flame that Calls to Me

AUish- Sasuke and Naruto did not survive their final confrontation. Instead, Sasuke finds himself whisked away to a world unfamiliar to his own. Without a home or a clue, he must now rely on the charity of Rei Hino, an aloof priestess and student, and she is not too happy about it. Only ever since his appearance, a strange threat endangers this new world.

She was too late. Every single lead and whisper had brought her here, and she was too late. Pluto gripped the pendant in her fist firmly as she knelt sullenly before the headstone.

"I am so sorry, my friend."

This apology was all that she could give, after the many lifetimes she had lived and witnessed this same scene among her friends. The exhaustion in her heart weighed heavily. Though she was merely an echo, she had lived. She had loved. She had sacrificed. As they all had been doomed to.

Pluto steadied herself, ready to move on. As long as she kept living, there was hope. The search had to continue.

As she stood up, a small voice spoke out, startling her.

"How did you know her?"

She quickly held her staff in a protective stance. Though she had not been here long, she was well aware that this world was treacherous.

A young boy, no smaller than eight years of age poked his head out from behind the stone tablet. Pluto's eyes widened. It didn't take long for her to realize who he was. It couldn't be, this was simply impossible, wasn't it? He was an anomaly. Then again their situations had never been normal. Not since the fall of the Moon Kingdom all that millennia ago. Was this the birth of a new timeline?

She looked at the ruby pendant in her hand, before looking back at him. She sighed inwardly. It seemed her mission had to be put on hold until she could figure this matter out.

A/N: So here it is, the prologue!! I have had this idea in my head for a couple of years now but struggled to put into words. I figured I should just try my best and put this out and hope I can keep going. I'm sorry for the briefness. I want to make my chapters longer. I hope I can make it happen with this fanfic. Also sorry for the lack of Rei and Sasuke here... I promise that in the next chapter the main heroes of this story will be here. Whenever I get that out... e_e''
