Wedding Disaster

Cerulean City, Kanto. 14th February 2019. 1:39pm.

Twenty-one year old Misty returned her pokémon. "Awesome job, Staryu!" she exclaimed happily, hugging the pokéball. Then she turned to her challenger. "You did great too. You just need to work on your speed." she told them. The pink haired girl on the other side smiled sadly. "Thanks, I'll do that. No wonder this is the hardest gym to beat in Kanto." she muttered, as she walked out. Misty sighed tiredly. She had been handling challengers all week, and was exhausted. Suddenly, the door opened.

"Hey-"

"Please give me a couple minutes, I'll be right with you!"

Misty got up and off of the gym floor and put a shirt and sweatpants over her bikini. "Hi how can I…" she trailed off as her mouth went dry. In front of her was Ash Ketchum, the love of her life. Standing. He scratched his head sheepishly. "Hey Mist." he greeted. Misty's eyes watered as she ran to hug him.

"I hate you." She mumbled into his shoulder. Ash pulled away, looked hurt. "You do?" Misty nodded. "Mhm. And you know what else I hate?" Ash looked away. "I hate that I'm supposed to be mad at you, but I'm not. I hate that I'm supposed to hate you, but I love you instead." she sniffled, as Ash's eyes widened, before he broke into a large grin. "Well, that's a relief. "Cause I came here because I realized I couldn't live without you in my life Mist. I love you. And now that I know you love me…" he trailed off, pulling something out of his pocket.

"Will you marry me?" he asked, getting down on one knee as he held out the box, his eyes glimmering with hope. Misty started crying. "Of course, you idiot. You don't know how long I've waited for you to say that." she wiped her tears with a hand and laughed as she hugged her, now, fiancé.

Misty pulled back. "I can't wait to tell May!" she squealed. Ash grinned. "You're still in contact with May?" he asked in disbelief. Misty looked at him incredulously. "In contact? May's my best friend! Along with Dawn and Leaf, of course."

Ash pouted. "What about me?"

Misty rolled her eyes. "A. You're my fiancé now. B. You can't call someone who hasn't talked to you in years your best friend." she huffed accusingly.

Ash looked down. "I'm sorry, I-"

"I challenge the gym leader to a battle!"

Misty looked at the door. "Sorry, gotta go. Duty calls. But I'll see you later," she kissed his cheek and handed him his phone which she had taken without him knowing earlier, and put her number in it. Ash stood there, frozen, before he let out a chuckle. "Yeah, right. What was I thinking living without her?" he breathed, leaving the gym with an amused smile.

Once he got to his room at the pokécenter, he threw himself on the bed and started thinking about what they would need. He started with a guest list.

Ash tapped his pencil against the page, trying to think of more people. A minute later, he gave up and closed the notebook. He had the list, now all he had to to was contact them. He hadn't talked to them in years. They had probably already changed their phone numbers. He'd have to ask Misty for a few. Suddenly, his brain blessed him by giving him an idea.
