Chapter 2

Herobrine:

I woke up. I was laying on light red couch. I sat up with a start. I glanced around. I was in a cozy oak cottage. There was a golden brown parrot asleep on a perch in a corner. Near the end of the couch was a fireplace. Finally, I came to a young lady, younger than me, sitting on a light green couch. She placed the book she was reading down on the coffee table in front of us. Her eyes were light green and her hair was a dark golden blonde.

She seemed familiar.

I suddenly realized something. Where was my satchel? I looked around in horror. The young girl plopped something on the coffee table.

The satchel.

I looked at her in horror. She touched my bag. She looked at me confused.

"Are you ok?" She asked.

"I should be asking you the same." I said. She still looked at me like I was crazy. I quickly grabbed the bag and hugged it against my chest. My left arm trembled once more. I grabbed it, keeping it from trembling, but realized there was a bump. I glanced at it. There was a bandage there. Again, I looked at the girl. She was back inside her book. I read the cover.

Minecraft: items and mobs. By Steve and Alex.

I huffed. The girl eyed me.

"You shouldn't read that garbage." I said. The girl bandaged my arm, but she showed no sign of knowing. Nor what was inside my bag.

She scoffed. "Says the king of monsters."

I looked at her with a soft grin. "How do you.."

She waved her book above her with a smirk. Then her smirk fell, her eyes shadowed. "How are you alive?"

I froze up.

"What do you mean?" I said, clearing my throat.

She eyed me, with fear and sadness. She pointed at my arm.

She knew.

I sighed. "Before the plague, monsters flourish." She raised an eyebrow. "You know what I mean. Anyway, the wither skeletons started acting weird. They never stayed with the monsters and I."

I sighed again.

"I should have saw the signs." I whispered.

She reached across the coffee table and patted my knee. I recoiled back. She lifted her hand up, confused.

"Don't you know what the Wither Plague does?!" I hissed.

She pulled her hand away, her brows furrowed as she frowned. "Yes I do, but I dragged you in here. I wrapped you bandages." She then stood, holding her hands out. "Yet I haven't caught it."

I stared at her. There still something about her, I just can't put my finger on it...

"And by how long that scourge has been there, still stumps me." She said.

"What?" I asked.

"Your injury. It's been there for a long time, but hasn't taken you yet."

I shrugged, looking away.

Suddenly the bird flew up in my face. I swung my arms around, yelping. The bird flew past me and the girl, towards the kitchen. There was cookie on the counter and the bird dove at it.

"Wait-" I started, but the girl held up a hand.

"Cookie's fine."

"Cookies are fine you mean? He's not meant t-"

"No, the bird. His name is Cookie. Some how, he can eat cookies."

The golden parrot flew from the cookie and landed on the girl's shoulder.

"By the way, I didn't catch your name." I said, eyeing the parrot then back at the girl.

"I didn't say? How rude of me." She said in a funny, mocking, tone. I chuckled. She smiled. "My name is Skyler."

She held out a hand for me to shake. I hesitated. Just because she hasn't caught it yet, doesn't mean she won't. I just nodded my head at her. She lowered her hand, disappointed.

"Now, what's in the satchel?" She asked.

So she didn't look.

"Nothing you need to know about." I mumbled, adjusting the bag around my shoulders. I stood up. "Where's the nearest inn?"

"No inn here. Just villagers." She said.

I sighed. I really didn't want to stay at an inn anyway. I was just using that as an excuse to get away from here as fast as possible. The longer I stayed, the dangerous it'll be.

"Besides, you're injured," She said, standing up as well. She was about three inches shorter than me. She wore a blue green tunic and dark brown pants. "And it's dark out. The withered and hostile mobs will be out."

I huffed. She raised an eyebrow, crossing her arms. Like she was the boss of me. The parrot on her shoulder stared at me.

"Where will I stay then?" I asked, trying to think of a plan so I can leave.

"Here for now, but you can't leave. The head villager may not like that I brought a stranger into the village. Especially when it's, infected, Herobrine." Her right arm came up and rubbed the side of her left. "I get into enough trouble already." She added softly.

Once I again, I felt pity for her. I was the leader of monsters, for goodness sake! I shouldn't feel bad for people! Yet I did.

"I won't leave." I lied. Maybe I could slip out when she heads to bed...

She looked up at me and smiled softly. I forced a smirk. The parrot flew off her shoulder and flew back towards it's perch. She started walking toward a bedroom. The only bedroom in the cottage. I sat back down on the couch and watched her open the door and look back at me.

"Goodnight, Herobrine." She said, softly.

I nodded. "Goodnight, Skyler."

She smiled and walked into her bedroom, shutting the door behind her.

As soon as it did, something clicked.

The pieces finally fell into place.

I knew who she was.

And I needed to get as faraway from her as possible.
