Hey Yo! this is the 29th chapter of The Last Loud!
Last chapter we finished the Past Arc, discovered all the truth behind the titular character and it's identity. Lana Loud.
Let's go to this week's question!
Dimitri Gomez: Will it explain what the first years of The Last Loud were like?
I personally don't plan to.
Disclaimer: I do NOT own The Loud House
The Loud rubbed their faded red cap they treasured on their personal belongings.
"Are you sure they're good?" Cassie asked Link.
"Yeah, my bud here just needed to vent a little." Link lightly punched Loud's shoulder. "Do you want us to continue the explanation bud?" He asked Loud, who just nodded slowly.
"Okay." Link spoke, stepping back to his chair and grabbing The remote once again. "As we last saw, the leader of the cult. Nicknamed Blight by our friend Loud, is alive, but in a semi mummified state. The machine they're building will, in lack of better words, suck the energy of the slaves and transfer them to him, what will probably restore him. Everyone got that?" The other six people present nodded.
"Okay. After some time of spying on those numb-nuts, I concluded something. They're completely don't know what they're doing." He spoke, pressing on the remote and passing to the next slide. It was another photo of the construction of the machine. "It took them nine whole years to rebuild their pseudo community constructed on top of suffering and slavery, and it took ten years to actually start creating a machine to revive their so called god."
"Probably they recruited someone with a good head over shoulders, to actually start this horrendous creation." Link Suggested. "But it also took them months to reach this state of the building. It's almost complete, though. We have little time."
"How much?" Loud asked serious.
"At the rate their doing… I give two weeks. At minimum." He speculated.
"We've been preparing for a full assault on the village for months now." Himiko interjected. "We already had a plan on work."
"But this unexpected modifier got tossed at us now." Haru completed her twin's though.
"Modifier?" Cassie repeated confused.
"You." Haru explained simply.
"If you accept helping us on this assault, we'll need to adapt our plan to accommodate this modifier." Haru spoke.
"But don't think it wrong. This is a good modifier." Link Interjected back. "With more modifiers, we have more options." Tower nodded at Link's statement. He pulled out off nowhere a tree branch and easily broke it in half, then, he pulled a bunch of branches, and somehow being able to hold all of them in one hand, tried to broke it but it stopped.
"I see his point." Maria spoke, looking at Tower, who abruptly forced the branches apart and broke them. "Yikes…"
"So… This is the question that may chance the course of humanity's future." Link spoke with his theatrical voice. "Are you going to join forces with us and destroy that machine, and end the Renaissance Cult once for good?" He asked making a majestic pose.
Maria and Cassie looked at each other, and then to Loud, who looked at them.
"I'll fight." Loud spoke finally. "But this doesn't mean you need to follow me for doing so." Maria smirked.
"Are you kidding Loud? We vowed in going with you. First, it was for our protection. But… we've grown. Me and Cassie see you not as a Allie or a friend. But part of our family." She looked at the other four. "These people also few like that to each other. And they're going to fight. Together."
Cassie got up from the chair and ran to hug Loud. "Mama's right Loud, we're family. And family stays together." She looked at the four and smiled. "And maybe… we can join your family by doing so."
Himiko chuckled, Haru shaked her head while smiling, Tower made a proud smile, and Link was tearing up, with a flattered smile.
"So this is a yes?" Link spoke, wiping his eyes on his forearm.
"We'll go there." Loud spoke getting up and walking around the table, being followed by Cassie and Maria. "This is our vow." They extended their fist to Link, Cassie and Maria also extended their fist, touching Loud's. Link smirked.
"And this." He spoke. "Is ours." He extended his fist, touching Loud, Cassie and Maria's fist. Haru rolled her eyes, but kept her smile, and joined her first, her twin did also. Tower also put his fist in, his was almost twice the size of the others.
"Here." Link spoke. "Our two parties unite with a objective in common." He announced with his theatrical voice. "We now, vow to end the Renaissance Cult, save the slaves, shelter them, and begin a bright future for our kind." One by one, Himiko, Haru, Tower, Cassie, Maria, Link and Loud nodded. "For now and own, we are one. We are, the magnificent seven!" Link theatrically threw his fist up when he announced the last word.
It took a second for the others realize that they should do the same.
Cassie laughed. "This was weird." She spoke. As all of them started to exit the meeting room.
"Believe me kid." Himiko spoke. "This isn't the first time he does this." Haru laughed and continued.
"And this wasn't his longest speech."
"Do he even know the ending of The Magnificent Seven?" Maria asked Tower, who shrugged, signaling that he didn't knew.
Some time later, Himiko and Haru conducted Cassie and Maria to a vacant room near the others, where they could settle.
"Here. Sorry for… the emptiness of the room, but we didn't expected new heads." Himiko spoke. The room wasn't big, and was just a rectangular block without windows and a ugly caramel paint in the walls.
"Is Loud sure that they don't want a room? We still have some rooms." Haru asked, leaning on the wall, making one of her prosthetic legs squeak. "Damn… I need to ask Link to fix this for me…" She muttered. Maria shrugged at what she asked.
"They are a loner. They love being this moody and edgy… It remembers me of my teenage years." Maria commented.
"Yeah, we've been working on digging into their heart." Cassie spoke with a smile. "I think we're close though."
"You know what's the deal with them?" Haru asked in a hushed manner.
"Well, they had a very traumatic past… What was it we don't know." Maria spoke.
"They said he had a very big family." Cassie spoke, she didn't had shared that with her mother yet. "They had, like, 10 siblings or something… I think all of them died."
"Holy…" Haru spoke crossing her eyes. "How their mother even endured so many pregnancies?" Himiko laughed.
"And their father would have to be a great stud!" Haru laughed at her twin's naughty remark.
"What are they talking about mom?" Cassie asked to her mother confused. Maria shaked her head disapprovingly.
"Nothing Mija, don't mind them." Maria then Looked down the corridor to the hallway to the kitchen and remembered. "And what's the deal with Tower?"
Himiko smiled, looking in that direction.
"He is such a sweetheart. He pretty much adopted Link when they escaped the Renaissance Cult, and after that, he took us under his very big wing when they saved us from a group is Slavers." Himiko explained. "We all need to be very grateful to him…"
"And for Link too." Haru remembered her twin, who nodded in agreement. " I thought I would never walk again." Haru spoke, looking at her prosthetic legs. "But he did that. He made me these. And I didn't even needed to ask." Haru spoke fondly. Himiko nodded along what she said.
"Link became our little awkward brother." Himiko spoke with a grin.
"We're not too much older than him." Haru continued her twin's thought.
"Yeah, but he's a bit naive sometimes." Himiko continued, more to her twin than to Maria and Cassie.
"A bit? Just three weeks ago he asked us if he could continue his research in time travel!" Haru responded giggling.
"Oh yeah…" Himiko giggled also. "We definitely don't need him messing up the timeline like The Flash or something." The four women laughed at that remark.
"I wonder what he's doing now…" Himiko spoke, looking in the direction of his workshop.
N/A: This chapter was almost entirely une big conversation, with more characterization for our characters. Specially Link and his flamboyant, eccentric, quirky and theatrical personality. By the way, I only call him Link to not make confusion, his name is Lincoln, and also, Link is just a cool nickname that fits the character.
The scene where Lincoln makes everyone make a vow was cheesy and very dramatic, and the point was that, to show how Link can get carried away with his theatricality.
And the name he gives our united group, is a homage to the western classic of same name, The Magnificent Seven, that itself was a western remake/reimagination of the classic Seven Samurai from Akira Kurosawa. one of my favorite movies ever, so in a way, naming them the magnificent seven was a my way to homage the seven samurai.
Also, I won't be giving the Twins Haru and Himiko a full backstory explanation like I gave to Loud, Link, Cassie and Maria, and to dome extent, Tower, since I think the brief explanation of their past as people enslaved by the Slavers explanatory enough.
And that conversation about time travel was JUST A JOKE. I do not plan to make a time travel plot, since I see time travel as a cheap scapegoat for writers that have written themselves into a corner and don't know how to get out of it. I'm looking at you Avengers Endgame.
And please remember, the others still don't know who The Last Loud is. We know but the characters don't, nobody knows.
I think that was everything I had to not.
Next week we'll start the final part of the story!
If you want to ask something, or have something to say, please go on! I'll try to respond every question, and if you want updates, check my Twitter, @ryuu_baku.
