Chapter 3: Training Begins

(A/N: Here comes Chapter 3. What does Gohan have in store for Videl? Find out this and more... NOW!)

After Gohan left Orange Star City, he headed back home to tell his mother, Chi-Chi, about what happened in Orange Star City. He also explains how he met Videl, and how he agreed to train her to gain more of a control over her power. He even tells her about Videl's origin being half-Saiyan like him. After explaining everything to Chi-Chi, Gohan asks an important question: "Do I have your permission to train her, Mom?" Chi-Chi nods her head at her son's question, understanding how important this is to him.

The next day, Videl arrives at the Son household, ready to meet up with Gohan, and begin her training. She knocks on the front door, and Chi-Chi answers it. Seeing Chi-Chi, Videl introduces herself and tells her that Gohan agreed to train her. Upon hearing this, Chi-Chi introduces herself to Videl, tells her that she is Gohan's mother, and that he has already explained the situation to her. Chi-Chi calls Gohan downstairs to tell him that Videl has arrived.

As Gohan comes down the stairs, he sees that Videl had, indeed, arrived. Before Gohan asks Videl any questions, she answers him by saying, "It turns out that I didn't have anything else planned that would get in the way of our training. I also told my father about what happened between the both of us, how we met, how we explained what we knew about the Saiyans to each other, and how I wanted you to train me in order to get a better control over my power. After he heard all of this, he understood exactly how important this was to me. And so, he allowed me to train with you."

After hearing Videl's explanation as to why she was here so soon, Gohan understands, and so, they head a few feet away from the Son house, as they didn't want to cause any unnecessary damage to it. Once they arrive at a more appropriate location, Gohan and Videl begin their training. "Okay, Videl. To begin your training, you must find your own energy within your body, if you haven't in the past." To show Videl what energy looks like, Gohan creates a small yellow Ki ball in his hands.

Videl isn't too confused by his words, and understands what he means, once he created the Ki ball in his hands. "I will admit, I did come close to finding my own energy within my body a few times, but whenever I almost had it, I would always be interrupted by either my father, or something else." Hearing this information, Gohan has a better understanding of how much progress Videl has made on her own. With this in mind, Gohan allows Videl to have the necessary focus to find her energy. A little bit of time, Videl finds her energy, and brings it out to her palms.

Upon seeing this, Gohan is amazed at how quickly Videl was able to find her energy, AND bring it out. And, upon closer inspection, he realizes that Videl didn't put too much effort into finding her energy; she doesn't look fatigued, though Gohan realizes that this makes sense. "After how many times she tried on her own, her body and stamina must have adapted to putting in a lot of constant effort on a basis of days. That, and being a Saiyan hybrid naturally helps our adaptability progress a lot faster than that of a full-blooded human."

Stopping his train of thought, Gohan congratulates Videl on successfully finding her energy. "Alright, Videl. Now that you have found your energy, and successfully brought it out, I want you to try creating a Ki blast, and launch it at me; it doesn't have to actually hit me, just simply launch it towards my general direction. Don't worry, it's not going to harm me, as I am able to withstand most energy blasts." Videl nods her head at Gohan's instruction, and begins doing what she was instructed to do.

After only 2 failed attempts at this, her 3rd energy blast lands on Gohan. Once Videl notices this, she feels a sense of accomplishment in firing a Ki blast successfully. After this task is completed Gohan proceeds to the next step in Videl's training: Flying. "So far, Videl, you have gone through my instructions easily, real easily, in fact. So, the next step in your training is learning how to fly.

Allow me to explain how you'll be able to fly. Basically, it's the same as firing a Ki blast. Except, instead of pushing energy out of your hand at a quick speed, you push the energy under your feet, very slowly. If you push the energy under your feet at a quick speed, you'll be creating a Ki blast with your feet. I know that may sound like a lot that I have said, but do you get the general idea of what to do?"

Videl nods her head and says, "Yes, Gohan. I understand what to do." WIth this confirmation, Gohan also tells her, "I would also like to say this, Videl: Don't worry about being alone up there. I will be flying alongside you, to make sure you don't get hurt." Hearing from him, Videl nods, "Thank you, Gohan. I appreciate it."

After a couple of hours of flying and landing on the ground safely, Videl thanks Gohan for training her, and tells him that she would like to continue coming back here to further refine her abilities, if he's ok with that. Gohan agrees to this, with him saying, "I will be here to help you, Videl." Hearing this, Videl is happy that Gohan wants to be there for her; Gohan is happy with being there for Videl, and so, they embrace each other in a hug. As they embrace, they begin hearing each other's voices in their heads. They're aware of what this means by Saiyan standards: Gohan and Videl have found their romantic partner: each other.

(A/N: That's the end of Chapter 3! Gohan and Videl are now ROMANTIC PARTNERS!? THIS EARLY? Oh wait… That's the title of this story… Hahahahahaha… Anyway, let me know what you guys think of Chapter 3. Chapter 4 is where the story starts to get interesting, so stay tuned. Peace.)
