"Do you know any good lawyers?" Natasha asked. "If not, you better find a good one, because this is messy."
"We can't afford a lawyer, and least of all someone who might actually be able to help. May, what are we going to do?" Peter asked, panicked.
"Hey, hey. Don't worry. We'll figure this out, alright." May assured, trying her best to appear calm so that she doesn't just feed into the cycle of panic that they so often trap themselves in. When Peter freaks out, she freaks out and vice versa bit she needs to be the calm one right now. "What about those guys in- in Hell's Kitchen? They do a lot of 'pro bono' work, maybe they'd be willing to hear your case." She suggested.
"Yeah." Peter agreed, trying to let himself have hope. Truth be told he wasn't all that worried about himself. He was most worried about May, Ned, MJ and even Happy. They could be found guilty just for being associated with him and the last thing he wanted was to drag them down with him. This could very well ruin their futures and they didn't deserve that.
Bruce took the moment of temporary silence to start talking to Tony. "What were you thinking? I know you haven't actually done it yet, but what were you thinking?" Bruce asked. He would have thought Tony had learned his lesson about the dangers of the things he chooses to invent- usually without thinking of the consequences.
"Just because it is an idea that exists in your head, does not mean it needs to exist in real life. You cannot go around making these types of things and continuously ignore the consequences, Tony." Rhodey sighed. He didn't think this conversation would need to happen again, but here they were. "Some things just aren't meant to exist and an entire army of drones-weaponized to the max- definitely isn't one of them."
"I know." Tony sighed. It seemed everything he tried to invent something that he'd meant to be used for protection, it backfired. In his paranoia, it seemed his future-self couldn't let sleeping dogs lie. That's how Ultron came to be, and he suspected that EDITH's story was similar.
"What I want to know is why you sent Talos and Soren to Earth to be you guys." Clint said, pointing an accusing finger at Fury and Maria.
"I wish I had an answer to that question, Barton. I really do." Fury replied, seemingly uncaring. His best answer was that it would pull suspicion away from where he actually was and what he was doing there. Space that is.
At the mention of Talos, Carol found herself spiraling in her thoughts. Why is Talos so peeved at me? Carol found herself wondering. She thought that they'd parted on a good note, she's been looking for years for a safe and suitable place for them to live. Fury granted them refuge on Earth. Did she do something to invoke his wrath again? She knew that Talos it has been a long time, and he was still on Earth apparently, which made her wonder...Does she ever find a home for them? Could that be why he seemed so angered just by Parker mentioning her.
"If everyone would please settle yourselves. This will be the last story of this round of stories, anyway. You'll be back." Lorraine said, voice getting quieter as she became sidetracked, thinking about what would come next for the current inhabitants of her theater. "Anyway, without further ado, this will be about our lovely Black Widow."
"This one's about me? But I'm-." Natasha started.
"Dead? Yeah. Forgot to mention that we're going to take another little trip back into the past- or I guess it's not really your past since it's still your future and hasn't happened yet... Anyway, this little adventure takes place in 2016... after the ratifying of the Sokovia Accords and Leipzig." Lorraine explained, sounding very uncharacteristically scatterbrained.
The Avengers each tensed at the mention of Leipzig, wanting to forget that that fiasco ever happened, but it seemed that they couldn't, especially when it hadn't even happened yet. They wondered if they could change it, knowing what they know now. They should've tried to talk it through like adults instead of just assuming the worst of one another.
Once more, words flashed on the screen. 'Up Next: Black Widow.''Year: 2016.'
