Percy
I lay in a daze on something strangely comfortable. My body is in pain all over, but a sore, healing type instead of the agony of those curses. I feel fingers running through my hair and force my eyes to open. There's my Wise Girl, looking at me with that cute as Hades look on her face she gets when she's worried and concentrated. Corners of her mouth turned down, eyebrows scrunched together, stormy gray eyes alert and fierce.
"You didn't wake me for my watch." I say with a soft smile, the most I can muster.
"Don't be a hero." She tells me. "You took dozens, maybe hundreds of curses for me, Percy. You deserve a nap." I carefully reach up and grab her hand that isn't stroking my hair and bring it to my mouth to kiss.
"Well it's my turn now. You need rest too, Wise Girl."
"I got plenty while you were out. We're in Damsen's home." My turn for my eyebrows to knit together in confusion.
"Who's Damsen, Annabeth?"
"A…friend of Bob's, I think. He's the Giant of Peace. Since he didn't slay us onsight when he had the chance, I figured he wouldn't do it as we slept either." As she speaks I try to remember how we got here. I remember the curses. The horrible, painful curses I took on, but even worse the one Annabeth took on, thinking I had left her. I vaguely remember being carried here, I guess by Bob, and hearing faintly as Annabeth argued with someone, I guess Damsen. And feeling warm as she laid next to me. And hearing her say one thing in particular.
"You called me your husband, Annabeth." Her eyes look startled and her face flushes, but she doesn't deny it. "I didn't dream that, did I?"
"Percy-No, you didn't. I did say that. I'm sorry, it's not even something we talked-" It takes all my strength, but I cut her off with a kiss, pulling her close to me. After a second, I feel her guard drop and she gives in fully, her body relaxing and folding into mine. Eventually I pull back and kiss her forehead, then make her look me in the eye.
"I told you you're not getting away from me, Annabeth. I meant it. Did you mean what you said back?"
"As long as we're together." She finishes and nods. "Percy of course I meant it."
"Then I'd say those vows are enough." She looks at me a second, biting her lip, then crashes back into my arms kissing me. The jolt hurt, but it was worth it. I hold her tight as I'm able until she pulls back, and I don't think I've seen her smile this big since our Underwater Kiss last year. Maybe when I saw her in New Rome. But this smile might just take the prize, in Tartarus of all places.
"I'll marry you right when this whole mess is over. But ceremony or not, you're my wife Annabeth. I wouldn't have it any other way. You're not getting away from me." I smirk at her. "Never Again." She steals a quick kiss from my mouth.
"As long as we're together."
