Chapter 3: "Clash at Kardia Cathedral!"
Kardia Cathedral
As Laxus sat on the stone steps that sat below the large organ, in the quiet and empty cathedral, he began to think back about the past. The first memory that sprung into his head was when he was a young kid and he and Makarov watched the Fantasia parade together. "Why do I have to start thinking about this stupid crap right now?" he quietly scoffed as he angrily glared at the ground. But then another memory quickly entered his mind, but it wasn't a happy memory like the first one; Laxus was older, in his late teens, and he was in his grandpa's office having an argument with the old man.
Flashback
Laxus was leaving the office, only to stop when Makarov began speaking, "So tell me boy, why aren't you participating in the Fantasia Parade with us?" the old man asked with his arms crossed over his chest.
"Why should I? Nobody will care if I'm there, or not, right?!" Laxus replied turning around to face his grandfather with an irritated frown on his face. "Ever since I was little, I've only been known as just your grandson, it's like I've never got to be my own person!" as the young teen continued to talk, he started to get angrier and more emotional with each word that leaves his mouth. "Nobody even calls me 'Laxus' I'm Makarov's grandson, I don't get credit for anything, it's just expected of me because my grandpa's the guild master." Laxus spat out.
Makarov uncrossed his arms and began to scratch his cheek. "Ah, now I see, so that's what this is about. You're feeling overlooked." The short old man now understood why Laxus has been in such a foul mood, and why he's opting out of the Fantasia Parade, however even after his grandson's little rant Makarov feels like there is still something that was bothering the teen. "Do you honestly believe that most people get the credit that they deserve?" Makarov began to lecture Laxus with a firm tone in his voice, however Laxus looked at his grandfather, unfazed by the question, as he continued angrily rant and reveal more about what was going on in his mind. "And thanks to the damned red-haired freak–!
Makarov immediately cut his grandson off, "Laxus! You leave Samantha out of this, this has nothing to do with her, and don't you ever call her that." Makarov was quick to defend the young girl. Lately Sam has been taking on quite the number of quests for the past few months, and it hasn't gone unnoticed. The members of Fairy Tail have been proud of this fact and when they would see her, they would congratulate her for her hard work. She has become fairly popular now in not only Magnolia, but in other towns and cities too.
However, it wasn't just Sam's popularity that was bothering the young blonde male.
Laxus went quiet for a moment, upset that his grandfather was defending the girl as if she was his grandchild, but he continued his rant. "And then you did that, why did you have to go and make things worse, why did you have to kick dad out of the guild?!" Now Makarov truly understood what was going on in Laxus's head, not only was he being overlooked because the boy is his grandson, and because of Sam, but it was mainly because not too long-ago Makarov had excommunicated his own flesh and blood from Fairy Tail; he had kicked out his own son Ivan from the guild. Makarov let out a sad sigh. "So, why did you do it?!" Laxus snapped.
"Because Ivan…" Makarov began to say, pausing for a moment, "…what your father did caused great harm to Fairy Tail." He told the teen.
"Ok, so he made a few stupid mistakes. Who hasn't'? He's still your own flesh and blood, right? He's still your son!" Laxus yelled at the old man.
Makarov sternly replied back, "Flesh and blood, or not, any member who would endanger the lives of his brethren must be banished without exception!" the old man took a few steps closer to his angry grandson, as he was telling Laxus this. "That's how our predecessors have reserved this guild over the years. It is the way that Fairy Tail has always worked!"
His words weren't getting through the teens head, and he continued to yell at his grandfather. "Then why don't you kick me out too, huh? That way I could go and join his new guild, so me and dad could work together! We'll both take you down." This new bit of information took Makarov by surprise. "He's gone and established himself a new guild?" This was not good news. "Where is he? If you know where Ivan is, then you must tell me!" Makarov told Laxus, but this only annoyed Laxus even more as he turned around, his back now facing the old man, and was ready to walk out of the room. "Yeah, right, like you give a crap. Go try and find him yourself." Laxus started to leave, and as he did Makarov began to plead with his grandson as he held out his hand towards the younger mage. "Please you have to tell me Laxus. Listen to me please, Ivan left with information that could be detrimental to Fairy Tail! I have to find him, it's life or death. The safety of the guild is at stake." This did make Laxus stop, Makarov hoped that this would get him to tell him where Ivan is located, but this information didn't move the lightning mage.
"I guess you should've thought of that before you kicked him out!" Laxus snapped at the old man, with his back still facing him.
"Tell me where he is!" Makarov urgently told his grandson. Without turning around to face his grandfather, Laxus began speaking, "Some day I'm going to surpass you, but not for dad's sake, it'll be for my own." Laxus then turned his head and looked over his shoulder, giving Makarov a determined and angry stare, "And then you'll live under my shadow.
End of Flashback
"The time is now, old man. I will surpass you; don't say I didn't warn you." Laxus angrily muttered, before standing up and walking towards the rune that was showing the time remaining for the Thunder Palace to activate. "Six minutes till Thunder Palace is activated huh? He still doesn't want to give in, huh? He's still the same old stubborn bastard, as usual–"
He was interrupted by the entrance door to the cathedral loudly creaking open, and then a man a little shorter than Laxus came walking towards him. Laxus looked over his shoulder to see who it was, he immediately grinned. He's wearing a dark blue cloak, and his arms and legs are mostly covered in bandages. The man walking in was also wearing a dark blue bandana with a silver forehead protector, and he has a green mask that covered his face. He carried five magic staves on his back which are held by a dark green strap going across his main body.
"Oh? So, you've finally arrived Mystogan?" Laxus called out to the man, "I never thought you would participate in this game."
"If you deactivate the Thunder Palace immediately, it is still possible to pass this as merely entertainment." Mystogan calmly warned him, while walking to the church he noticed how the people were growing anxious and curious about the lacrima floating above their home. Laxus opened his mouth and was about to make a quick jab at the hooded wizard, but then a voice was suddenly heard in the cathedral that made him shut up, and it sent chills up Laxus's spine.
"Of course, if you don't, I will be more than happy to make you Laxus." She spoke in a low and firm tone of voice, as her footsteps echoed throughout the church.
Laxus turned his attention to the figure with a mass of bright red hair on her head that was getting closer and closer until she was standing next to the mysterious hooded wizard. She crossed her arms over her chest, and her head was slightly tilted down as she gave the blonde wizard a heated glare.
"Oh? So, you're gonna participate in the game, eh Sammy~?" Laxus gave her an amused toothy grin. She immediately clicked her tongue in annoyance to his nickname for her, she has never once in her life ever liked the nickname 'Sammy', and she especially disliked it when this bastard called her that.
"No." Sam firmly said "How dare you call this a game when you've activated Thunder Palace, putting this town, the people, and our guild mates into such danger. And for what?"
"Ah, how blissfully ignorant you are Sammy, always a little goody-goody, and you to Mystogan. Haven't the both of you heard the rumors figuring who's the strongest mage in Fairy Tail; me, Mystogan or Sam?" he told them.
"Aren't you forgetting Erza?" Mystogan asked.
"Not to mention Gildarts." Sam added.
"Gildarts? Don't make me laugh. He's no use…he's not coming back. And Erza does show some promise, but she's still weak." Laxus bluntly said.
"Erza? Weak?" Mystogan said, astounded by his remark "You must be as good as blind."
"Can you honestly blame him; he's clearly losing his mind." Sam added, insulting the blonde.
"Hey, I'm complimenting both of your skills here. Right now, the strongest mage in Fairy Tail is one out of the three of us." Laxus said.
"If that's all your eyes can see, then I wonder who the one that is blissfully ignorant is." Mystogan said with a calm sarcastic tone in his voice.
"Let's settle this!" Laxus shouted "We'll decide who's the strongest is! Sam…Mystogan…or rather…"
Upon hearing this, Mystogan panicked. He quickly shot a purple laser from one of his magic staves towards Laxus to interrupt him from saying anything else. Laxus countered the attack by shooting a ray of lightning towards him. The two respective powers collided, causing a massive explosion within the church.
Sam calmly raised her arms up and quickly summoned wind and created a large and strong dome of air around her figure, completely protecting her from any harm from the explosion.
The explosion at the church didn't go unnoticed, as it attracts the attention of a certain pink haired dragon slayer and a scarlet haired requip mage.
"The church?" Natsu said.
"Kardia Cathedral…" Erza said.
As the dust clears, the mass of air that Sam had summoned disappeared as quickly as she summoned it, she then saw Mystogan and Laxus face-to-face against another, and both were also unscathed by the explosion.
"You…! Where did you learn that?" the masked mage demanded.
"Oh, it's extremely rare to see you panicked like that Mystogan," Laxus provokes him "Well, maybe I'll tell you when you beat me."
"You will regret this, Laxus." Mystogan said, his patience was wearing thin. "I'll show you a form of magic that you have never seen before!"
"Mystogan, you need to calm down." Sam told him, "Don't let the blonde bastard get under your skin." Her words were simply ignored by the men.
"Ooh scary, well give it your best shot buddy." Laxus mocked him. "You as well Sam." He glanced over at her. "I want both of you come at me at once, I'll show you where you both stand!"
Mystogan looked over to Sam and a silent conversation was held between them. Sam nodded, understanding what he wanted her to do. Mystogan started to plant his five magic staves in the ground preparing an attack while Sam had made the first move. She merely held out her hand, with her palm opened upwards, creating a blue ball of static electricity.
"Dragon Shock!" She then threw ball of energy and it moved at high speed that it didn't Laxus a chance to dodge it. Once it hit him, it had appeared as if nothing had happened to him at all. No pain, no nothing. "Ha! Was that it? Has the Guardian of the Fairies lost her touch?" He asked in a mocking tone.
"Hmph. Is that right?" Sam slowly raised her hand up and showered the cocky blonde the cackling electricity going on around it. His eyes quickly looked down at his own body and noticed electricity now swirly all around him, just like around her hand.
That was when he tried to lunge at her, but his body wasn't listening to him at all. "Damn it! What the hell? I can't move!" Laxus exclaimed. The attack that Sam had used at him wasn't meant to harm him, it was meant to trap him. When the attack had touched the blonde, it had moved all around his body as she continued to control it, completely restricting his movement. Laxus was now grunting as he tried to move any part of his body, all the while Mystogan was done planting his five staves. "Skyscraper." Mystogan calmly said, as a magic circle appeared before him.
Laxus panicked as the ground beneath him started to shake like an earthquake, rays of light appearing beneath the cracks of the floor. It exploded, exploding the Cathedral along with it. Laxus was blown upward, miraculously escaped with no injuries.
"What! Impossible! Even the church!" Laxus exclaimed.
Upon saying that, a pillar of wind and bright light combined appeared on the ruins of the church, consuming Laxus in the process. In the pillar, Laxus was stunned as the black sky cracked, revealing five scaly fingers and a pair of glowing red eyes. Before he could react, he was suddenly tied up by dozens of belts. The crack gets bigger and bigger and soon it revealed a big, scaly, monster reaching out for him.
"W-what kind of magic is this?!" Laxus cried out as he struggled to free himself, the monster let out a loud roar, almost reaching out to grab Laxus.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" Laxus screamed as he activated his lightning magic, attempting to free himself. He got the wanted result as the dimension around him started to distort. He makes his lightning stronger before he finally freed himself from his nightmare, or that's what he thought.
It was an illusion.
"Now that's funny!" Laxus loudly laughed "Did you think a stupid illusion could stop me? And Sammy," he glanced over at the red-head, "I see you taught yourself some new tricks there. But seriously, did you think that was able to actually paralyze me?" he asked her as he continued to laugh.
"Impressive, but you noticed it just a little too late." Mystogan grinned under his mask, along with Sam as she thought he was getting a bit too arrogant.
Just then, five magic circles appeared above Laxus, and a purple pillar starts to form. "Sleep! Five Layered Magic Circle: Sacred Song!" Mystogan shouted. "Now how do you like that, Master's grandson? Surprised? Your arrogance is thinning by a second." Sam said in a mocking tone in her voice, similar to how Laxus has mocked them, with a grin still plastered on her face.
Laxus grinned back, confusing both mages in front of him. "Now now, which one of us didn't notice huh?" he said. As he said that, a magic circle appeared under both Sam and Mystogan. Both of them were completely caught off guard.
"Damn it!"
"No!"
They yelled at the same time, now realizing what happened.
The three braced for impact as the respective magic circles went off. Moments later, an explosion occurred. As the dust clears, the three of them escaped and were unscathed from any injuries.
Mystogan flew up in the air and made a few hand gestures towards Laxus. The ground beneath Laxus had Mystogan's purple magic on it, and it was twisting and rising up above Laxus in trying to trap him in it. As Laxus realized what's happening, he turned his body into lightning and quickly escaped from it just in time.
"He slipped through?!" the masked mage exclaimed.
Laxus moved in a zigzag direction in attempt to confuse Mystogan before charging upwards towards him to attack. However, he wasn't expecting to be stopped by balls blue fire coming right at him. He was quick to react and dodged them, getting him to move further away from Mystogan. That was what exactly what Sam wanted him to do, she launched herself into the air above Laxus with her hands and arms lit up with blue flames. She raised her arms up and aimed her hands at Laxus as the fire grew more intense.
"Fire Dragon Takedown Attack!" Sam shouted as she sent out two jets of the magic, she created downwards towards Laxus. They hit him directly into his back and the force had sent him crashing down to the ground, creating a small crater, and with dust and smoke flying all around the crater, as Sam landed gracefully on her feet on the other side. As the dust clears, Laxus was seen kneeling on the ground, his clothes now all torn up and a bit of smoke coming off of his back. Mystogan then turned his body to mist and appeared beside Sam.
"Tch, not bad the both of you." Laxus grinned wolfishly at them as he raised onto his feet. "And Sammy, that actually stung a bit."
"Shut up you bastard!" Sam snapped, having enough of this playful, nonchalant attitude of his. Mystogan glanced at her with slightly widened eyes as he can feel her anger radiating off of her, and the fierce glare she giving Laxus was rather chilling to look at. Her brows were furrowed, the bridge of her nose was wrinkled, and the corner of her lips curled up into a snarl; revealing her elongated canines.
"Whoo!" Laxus whistled, "It's been a while since I've seen that look on your face Sammy. It's quite scary." He said in a playful voice, that seemed to rile her up more.
"This isn't some sort of game! You–!"
"LAXUS!" Two voices suddenly boomed inside the cathedral, and cutting the young woman off and wiping her glare into a look of confusion. The three quickly looked at the entrance of the church, and there they saw standing there were two familiar mages. It was Natsu and Erza.
The two of them looked around and saw Laxus face-to-face with two familiar people.
"That's Sam," Natsu said, looking at the crimson haired dragon mage, "but who's the other guy?" he asked looking at the man with the blue cloak.
"Mystogan?" Erza guessed.
As Mystogan saw her, he started to panic; he was pulling his mask up to try and hide even more of his already hidden face. Sam arched a brow in confusion as to why he was reacting like this. "Is it…because of Erza?" she thought as she glanced back to the other red-head.
"You left yourself wide open!" Laxus yelled. He generated a ball of lightning in his palm and released it at Mystogan's face, completely destroying his mask.
"Mystogan!" Sam worriedly called out.
As the dust started to settle, they saw Mystogan's face for the first time. Natsu and Erza were stunned by what they saw. He has blue hair and has a familiar tattoo on his right eye, similar to a certain heavenly body mage.
It was the face of Jellal Fernandes.
"J-Jellal?" Erza stuttered, her voice shaken, tears starting to fill her eyes. When Sam heard Erza say that name, she remembered her story of when she was a slave at the Tower of Heaven as a child, she was taken back a little.
"You…!" Natsu yelled, his face showing full of hatred towards the man, remembering what Jellal had done to Erza at the tower.
"Jellal? Y-you're alive?" Erza called out to him, with tears now flowing down her cheeks.
"Ooh, so you know each other?" Laxus said.
"W-what is going on?! Mystogan is…Jellal?!" Natsu exclaimed.
An awkward silence started to fill the room, except for Erza's crying, when a voice finally spoke, breaking the silence, "Erza, especially you, I didn't want to show my face." Mystogan told her.
Erza quietly gasped, not understanding what he meant, "Huh?" she said.
"I'm not Jellal, I know of him, but I am not him." Mystogan replied.
Erza started to shake; emotions had control of her, with her mind starting to think about the man who she once called her best friend.
"Sorry, I must leave." Mystogan said, before turning to Sam, who was honestly confused with the situation, "Sam," he said gaining her attention, "I'll leave the rest to you." Was the last thing he said before turning his body into mist and disappeared from sight. "HEY!" Natsu called out, trying to stop him, but it was already too late.
"Man, I'm so confused…but I'll deal with that later," Natsu muttered, turning to look at Erza, still shaking from the events that occurred a moment ago, "Erza, you'll let me handle him, right?" he called out.
No response
"ERZA!"
Suddenly, lightning enveloped Erza's whole body, freeing her from her state.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" Erza screamed, with pain shaking her entire body. Both Natsu and Sam looked at the scene with wide eyes.
"Whoo that was an ugly face." Laxus yelled, releasing Erza from his lightning.
Before Natsu could do anything, a figure appeared in front of Laxus, punching him square in the gut, and sent him flying back into the organ. Laxus, Natsu, and Erza saw Sam standing where Laxus was just standing, with her fist held out in front of her, and with the angriest scowl that anyone has ever seen on her face.
"How dare you?" Sam quietly said to the man, as he slowly pulled himself up onto his feet and held his stomach, and as she brought her arm back down. "How dare you attack her like that? YOU SCUM!" she roared at him.
"Huh? I don't care, that fact that she was shaking and crying shows that she's weak." Laxus provoked. He was going to say more, but then he saw the face Sam was giving him, and it sent shivers down his spine. Sam's pupils turned into slits, and her upper lip was curled up into a harsh snarl, making her bear all of her fangs at him, but what got every one's attention was that she let out a low, but very audible, growl as if she was a beast.
"You damn bastard. I'm going to make you pay for that." Sam was about to launch forward towards him, but that was stopped when suddenly stopped by Natsu, who stepped in front of her. "What the hell are you doing Natsu? Get of my way!" Sam sternly told her little brother.
"Shut up Sam, I will handle him." Natsu said to her without thinking. A tick mark appeared on Sam's forehead, annoyed with the pink-haired idiot in front of her. When she was about to argue, Natsu shouted, "LAXUS! Fight me! I will defeat you, you asshole!"
"Oh? I didn't even notice you there Natsu." Laxus smirked, insulting Natsu.
The comment did get under Natsu's skin, "You're about to notice me now pal!" Natsu said, lighting his fist with flames, preparing to fight.
"AHHHHHHHHH!" along with his battle cry, Natsu charged forward, "FIGHT ME LAXUS!"
"Geez, you're so annoying. You always charged forward to attack, so tiresome." Laxus said with an annoyed look on his face, "Get out of my way small fry!" he fires a ray of lightning towards him, only for Natsu to jump up high to dodge it in time. Natsu then lit up his legs with flames, preparing to kick Laxus. "Fire Dragon Kick!" Natsu cried out as he kicked Laxus' right arm, which didn't even affect him.
As Natsu landed on his feet, Laxus kneed him, pushing Natsu a few feet away. Natsu almost collapsed on the ground when Laxus grabbed his right arm, his right fist enveloped with lightning, "Now who said you could get away?" Laxus smirked. He threw a few punches at Natsu, only for him to grab back his left arm, stunning Laxus.
"Who said I was running away? This is my chance to seize the top spot!" with that, Natsu lit up his fist and punched Laxus in the face.
Both of them threw an array of punches at each other before Natsu decided to duck down and try to trip Laxus with his leg. Unfortunately, Laxus sensed this and he avoided it as he jumped up, and slammed Natsu face down. He then let go of Natsu's arm and kicked him away. Natsu managed to land on his feet, but was pinned down by someone.
"Oh, finally out of your trance Erza?" Laxus called out.
"I have to forget about Jell-, no Mystogan for now, now I have to stop Laxus!" she thought. "Requip!" she shouted, a bright light enveloped her body and she change to her Black Wing Armor. "AHHHHHH!" she charged at Laxus and swung her sword at him, only for him to block it with his arm.
"Erza!" Natsu yelled.
"What are those things floating above the city Laxus?!" Erza demanded.
"The Thunder Palace, bet you've heard of it." Laxus grinned.
"You seriously intend to attack Magnolia, you fiend?!" she asked.
"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH! It's a new rule to the game, even though it pains my heart to use it…" Laxus said with sarcasm in his voice.
"You vile fiend!" Erza yelled at him, raising her left leg to kick him, only for Laxus to grab it with great ease.
"Two minutes left…" he warned them.
"Tch, Natsu, Sam, destroy the lacrima!"
Sam was about to answer her, but Natsu shouted "I can't do that! I mean if I destroy one of them, I get shocked myself!"
Both red-heads were stunned to hear that, "What?! You used body link magic on the lacrima?" Sam asked him.
"Yes, no one could touch that lacrima!" the blonde mage said.
"You're a coward!"
As she said that, her whole body was enveloped by Laxus' lightning, "Now I'm gonna destroy you with my lightning as well!" Laxus shouted before pushing Erza away.
"Requip!" Erza shouted and another bright light enveloped her body. She was now wearing a different set of armor, Thunder Empress Armor.
"Heh, Thunder Empress Armor? You think that will protect you from my lightning?!" Laxus shouted as he fires another ray of lightning at her.
Erza dodged it as she jumped up high, ready to strike, "It's not just about defense Laxus!" she shouted, as she fires a blue beam of lightning towards her opponent from the tip of her spear.
Laxus managed to block it as it was his element, before turning himself into lightning, preparing another attack.
Sensing this, Erza placed her spear in front of her, and a magic circle appeared on her weapon. She charges the spear with electricity creating a powerful lightning barrier to shield herself from his attack.
"HAHAHAHAHA! Now try and block this Erza!" Laxus then fires lightning ray from both of his hands. And of course, with her lightning shield, Erza managed to block it.
"Not bad." Laxus complimented. Ignoring the compliment, Erza said "When two wizards that uses the same magic fight, the factors will determine the outcome…" "Whoever has the highest magic power, their technique and experience, right?" Laxus finished.
"And the heart!" Erza added "You should have learned this from the master!"
"Oh, I learned. I had learned that the most important thing is power."
Erza was about to argue, but someone else spoke, "That's all that you learned? Laxus, you're truly an idiot. You've completely lost sight of what's truly important." Sam said calmly walking towards him, "I hope you're ready to suffer the consequences of your actions, I'll make sure you'll pay for everything that you've done today. Both towards the town and the people who live here, and our beloved guild mates." She told him, slamming her fist into her hand.
"Ooh, scary words there Sam," Laxus said arching a brow at her, "Why don't we see who the better fighter is, huh? You and me. Once and for all, we'll see who truly is the strongest."
"Tch!" She scoffed at first, "Fine." She agreed.
"Sam" Erza called, "what are you–"
"Erza," Sam interrupting her "I'll handle him. Go, protect the city, and stop the Thunder Palace at all costs no matter what. The citizens lives are at stake here, we can't let anything happen to them." Erza wanted to argue back, but the look in Sam's eyes and the firm, authoritative tone in her voice told her otherwise, so Erza nodded her head at her request.
"You too Natsu." Sam quickly added. "Go with her."
"WHAT!" Natsu exclaimed, clearly not happy with this decision. The pink-haired mage immediately began to argue with his sister, "C'mon sis, I want to fight him! Let me–"
"NATSU STOP IT!"
Natsu and Erza froze up. For the first time, in a very long time, Sam yelled at her brother. Natsu was completely gobsmacked, he stared at his sister with wide eyes.
"Natsu time is running out, and lives are at stake here! Do you want to fight him because you want to test your strength, or you want to stop his stupidity?!" Sam yelled.
Natsu thought about was what she just said, and she was right. He wanted to fight Laxus because he is strong, because he wanted to test his strength on him. But now it's different, the lives of the citizens of Magnolia and the future of Fairy Tail are in danger right now. "Fine! I won't fight you on this, and I'll go with Erza! But you better defeat him or I'll never forgive you!" Natsu warned.
"Heh, I feel kind of insulted that you think I will lose this pathetic excuse of a mage. Now get going you two! You have work to do." Sam said to them before focusing her attention on the blonde mage.
Natsu and Erza nodded at her order. Before they could leave the church, Laxus called out to them, stopping them in their tracks, "Wait are you two going to stop the Thunder Palace?" the church was filled with silence, that was his answer, he began to laugh loudly, "AHAHAHAHAHA! You guys won't stand a chance! Destroying one would risk your lives. And right now, there are a number of lacrima floating up there. There's no time either!"
"I will destroy all of them!" Erza exclaimed.
"WHAT!" Natsu and Sam both cried out, their eyes nearly popping out of their sockets.
"Impossible!" Laxus said, "And if you do, you wouldn't survive!" he warned her.
Erza then turned her head at Laxus and simply said, "But then the city would be saved." Before running out of the church, with Natsu following right behind her.
Sam was ready to attack when Natsu called her out, "Kick his ass, Sam!"
"Are you going to break the rules of the game?!" Laxus yelled at them.
"I believe in you guys! We are FAIRY TAIL!" Sam called out. They stopped in their tracks to turn back to look at her, seeing the crimson-haired girl holding up her index finger in the air, they smiled, held up their fingers, before setting off again.
"Damn it!" Laxus muttered as he tried to chase them down and stop them.
"Water Dragon Hydro Cannon!" Sam shouted. A torrent of water was generated in her mouth and fires it at Laxus, sending him flying right into the altar stairs.
"Why you little brat…" Laxus gritted though his teeth, crouching on his knees.
Sam stood with her head slightly down, with her bangs hiding her eyes from him. "You wanted to fight me Laxus," as Sam began to speak her hands were once again lit up by her dark blue flames, "Then alright, I'll give you a fight, but know this…", and the area around her began to slowly heat up, "…you might be one of my guild mates, but you have crossed a line today that I thought no one would cross." She then lifted her head up, and she gave him a fierce glare as her flames spread up her arms and to her shoulders. "And like I said, you will pay for everything you did today," she slammed her fist into her hand, making the flames spark off of her as they grew a bit more, "So be prepared, I will make sure you will. Right here, right now!" There was nothing but pure determination in her eyes, and a steadiness in her voice, Laxus knew that what she was saying was telling him the truth, and in knowing that all he could do…
…was smirk in excitement.
"Bring it then Sammy!"
I know, I know! It's been a long time since I've updated anything on here. Here is proof that I'm still alive, and I hope that y'all like this chapter.
