When he had first met Ayaka Nohara, it had been through a teammate (Rin Nohara)- A teammate Obito Uchiha had developed feelings for and pursued (albeit clumsily, and without success.) with a fervor that rivaled the ferocity at which he trained to 'become the next Hokage'. He wasn't even entirely too sure when his interest in Rin had fizzled out into nothing more than friends, but eventually it had come to pass and for quite some time Obito had a blank period where he didn't feel anything towards anyone.
That was- until that night. The festival had been lively, children merrily weaving through adults and the aroma of different vendors wafted through the area littered with multi-colored lanterns. Obito had sworn he'd spotted an aged Ayaka- suddenly no longer just Rin Nohara's younger sibling. It had been a fair amount of time since he'd last seen her, their age gap leaving little room for them to meet too often- so, he supposed it was a pleasant surprise bumping into her now.
As a man now a good portion of the childish goofiness Obito once possessed ebbed away, becoming a bit more serious in his ambitions to become Hokage- though he still wasn't above a good laugh, especially amongst close comrades when the timing was right! He was very much a gentleman in the present, though ( a trait the Uchiha were known for, and delivered quite smoothly.), alerting Ayaka of his presence to cause little alarm.
'Aya, it's been a long time- I thought I lost my shadow!' Obito lightly teased, smirking just enough to express fondness as a single hand came down to pat on the head of the quirky brunette (given their height difference.) During the midst of Ayaka's irritation over his ministrations and 'musing up her hair', Obito took a fraction of time to rove over Ayaka's developed frame- even if she wasn't particularly busty, she was still alluring. Her rambunctious behavior over his tiny gesture did nothing to slow the heart palpitations he was experiencing.
'Still causing a scene, I'd have thought you'd grown out of that with age- elder cousin.' Itachi's own rich, yet collected, tone penetrated the confusion that Obito was sensing. With a few blinks, and a light shake of his noggin, Obito (sheepishly) rubbed the back of his head as a response, 'What can I say? There's always some fun to be had when Ayaka's around- right?' Obito responded, though he attempted to steer (and keep) the conversation more directed at the younger Nohara.
As of late, the two men had been experiencing rising tension- though as to why, Obito couldn't exactly say. Though, now, he supposed he had some fresh ideas with the way his younger cousin was blatantly being curt with him. If that was the case, Obito was definitely encroaching- not that the elder Uchiha cared… he just didn't want a direct confrontation. At least, not yet anyway. Not while his feeling were fresh, at best, and he was still letting it all seep in.
With Itachi brooding, and Obito unable to concentrate on much of anything else- he gave Ayaka a gentle poke to the side, and a toothy grin with a promise to be better at keeping in touch with her. Even as Obito took his leave, he could sense the daggers being burned into his back. 'No doubt, I'll have to deal with that…later.' Obito thought to himself, chuckling underneath his breath as he accepted what this meant; a possibly never-ending stalemate with Itachi Uchiha, himself.
