Summary: Briar Mitchell is the runt of the Mitchell family. She learned to deal with rangers at very young age due to her Mother and Tommy Oliver's mother being best friends. This is her story of what it was like when her family became rangers and how she becomes a ranger herself when she eventually has to move to Reefside.

"Briar can you come to my office please?" A rough voice called out down the hall. A vibrant teenager ran towards the voice. She had shot blonde hair with bright blue eyes.

"Hi Dad". She greeted entering his office.

Captain Mitchell smiled as his baby girl sat down across from him. "How was school?"

"it was fine".

He nodded. "Good. Is your homework done?"

"Yes Dad, Dana helped me before she left. Where is she gone to anyway?"

Captain Mitchell frowned."Briar you remember when i told you the story about the monsters? well they have returned and she is gone to bring the new rangers here".

Briar looked down at the floor. "Oh. Does that mean you and Dana won't have time for me anymore?"

"Off course not" He assured her kneeling in front of her. "Sweetheart i love you very much but i also need to keep you safe. Now since you have your homework done you can go up to the lagoon and spend time with the whales if you want".

"Thanks Dad!" She kissed his cheek and ran off. Briar went to the lift and went to the top. "Riley! Chad!" She yelled noticing the two at the end of the dock. "Chad what are you doing here?"

"Hey squirt, i am meeting with your Dad." He answered her. Briar knew why.

"Your going to be a ranger". She told him with a smile. "He told me about them and i saw their files and your the blue ranger".

"I want to help if i can, look you girls have fun and i will see you later". He told them walking back inside.

Briar watched him go with a frown that Riley noticed. "Briar you okay?"

"I don't know, i mean its awesome about Chad but i often wondered if my big brother was alive would he be a ranger with Dana?"

"I am sure he would be, come on lets go meet them". The girls walked in just in time for the rangers to agree.

"Rangers this is the princess of the base, this is my youngest daughter Briar, Briar this is Kelsey, Joel, and Carter and you already know Chad". Her Dad introduced.

"Cool name". Joel said with a smile.

"Hey Briar don't forget what tonight is" Dana spoke.

"I won't forget D, I have basketball tryouts so Riley and I have to go." Briar informed her sister.

"Okay is it okay if Carter drives you girls?" Dana asked. Her sister and Riley nodded and ran to the rover to head to tryouts.

Later That Night...

Briar skipped into the base to tell her family the great news. She ran to her Dad's office.

"Dad!" She squealed as she entered his office. Dana smiled from where she was sitting with a cake in front of her.

"Hi honey, how was tryouts?" He asked leaning against his desk.

"Riley and I made it!" She yelled with joy.

"Briar thats great!" Dana cheered in delight giving her a hug. Briar looked at the cake in front o her sister. "Its his birthday tomorrow".

"I remember but Dana why do we have to keep doing this. I mean do ill will but you remember Ryan i don't. I have come to terms that my big brother is dead and not coming back". She spoke firmly ignoring the look they were giving her. "May i be excused?"

"You may, but we will talk about your attitude young later". Capatin Mitchell scoulded her as she left his office. "Dana is she alright? she has never acted this way in awhile"

"I don't know i can talk to her" Dana suggested.

Briar took the lift to the top and walked to the end of the dock. She smiled as the two whales swam around. She jumped as a blanket was wrapped around her. "Hey"

"Hey, Briar are you alright?" Dana asked her younger sister.

Briar sighed and looked up into the night sky. "Yes, no, i don't know. I guess with you becoming a ranger with everyone i am afraid that i am going to be forgotten."

"I don't understand, we would never forget you. Briar talk to me please". Dana pleaded since she felt her sister was hiding something.

"Earlier today when i told you i had tryouts, well before i entered the room i overheard Dad tell Carter that he found it hard with three kids when Mom died. Dana did he even want me when i was born? did i kill mom?"

Dana's heart shattered as her sister opened up to her. Dana took her sister's hands into her own. Captain Mitchell sat on her other side. "Don't you let me hear you say that ever again. Dana i think she is old enough".

Her Dad cleared his throat. "Briar when you were born it was one of the hardest days in my life. Your Mom was sick when she got pregnant. She was out of remission when she was carrying you. She made me promise that whatever happened to her that you would be born. She vowed after that she would start chemo again but what we didn't know was that she had a blood clot in her heart. Briar she may have died after you were born but it was not your fault i promise".

Briar linked her around around her Dad's arm. "I didn't know that".

"You were the light in my darkness Briar, i wouldn't trade it for the world. If your mother and Tommy's mother weren't so close i don't know where i would be. But you have to know i would be lost if you weren't here. Your mother made me promise to get you into the world and i did so sometimes i wonder if she knew about the clot but she hid it". He finished telling her.

"Thank you for telling me Daddy". She whispered hugging him.

"You know you did get Ryan's goofy smile and his blue eyes". Dana spoked with a smirk.

"Oh an you got your mother's temper" Bill added. The girls laughed as one of the whales. Crescent. Popped her head up spraying water at them. "Briar just remember we may be a smaller family but that family has grown to be bigger since the rangers are around".

Briar looked behind her as the other four rangers stood behind them. The three Mitchell's stood up.

"Can we swim with them?" Kelsey asked gesturing to the two whales.

Captain Mitchell nodded. Briar smiled and grabbed her hand running and jumping into the water. Dana and the others joined the two of them.

"Briar its late don't stay in there too long please". Captain Mitchell called as he went to get towels.

As he walked back he blew out a breath thankful she didn't ask about the night of the accident He smiled as their laughter sounded in the night sky.
