I always wanted to write this story, esp after having to read that rlly bad one from 2020! this story takes place before splat 3, so no neo 3. If u don't know my agents: cerulean is 3, ember is 4 and haru is 8, enjoy!

Agent 8 felt the gentle breeze on his face as Pearl and Marina's helicopter made its way to Inkopolis. He felt relieved to have made it out alive, but wished his sister could have felt it too. "I'm…Sorry we lost Akari." sighed 3.

The two gazed into the sky together, thinking about everything that happened to them in the Deepsea Metro…

"LAND HO!" exclaimed Captain Cuttlefish when the helicopter landed. "Yo eight! You should totally check out my mansion!" smiled Pearl. "He's gonna meet my granddaughters first!" shot back Cuttlefish. Marina sighed, thinking "Ah squit, here we go again."

The old squid took the boys to meet the rest of The New Squidbeak Splatoon. "Hey gramps." waved Marie. "GRAMPS! THREE!" grinned Callie, excitedly waving with both arms.

"Marie, who's the old man and the twinks?" asked agent 4. "I'M NOT A TWINK!" shouted agent 3. "Now, let's all calm down." sighed Cuttlefish. "This inkling's Cerulean, agent 3. The octoling is agent 8, Haru." he said. "Cool." said Marie in her usual relaxed tone. "This is agent 4, her name is Ember." she said, pointing to the inkling girl.

"WE'RE GONNA BE BESTIES HARU!" declared Ember. "Sounds nice." smiled Haru. Cerulean blushed in his own embarrassment, specifically embarrassed over how jealous he was. "Seems like they're good friends, huh? Tch. Not even gonna mention me, the guy who-"

"What about 3?" asked Haru. "Oh yeah, he exists!" replied Ember. "CERULEAN COME JOIN THE AGENT BEST FRIENDS CLUB!"

"This is stupid." said Cerulean and Marie in unison. "I WANNA JOIN!" shouted Callie, eagerly. "AND I'M FORCING YOU TO JOIN CERULEAN!" exclaimed Ember, causing Cerulean to scoff. "Come on Mr. Cerulean von Agent Three, join us!"

"Fine." he sighed. Ember took both of their hands. "Come on losers, we're going shopping!"

At Arowana Mall, the inkling girl dragged the two into a clothing store, making them try on different outfits. "Hmm, no..no…no…" She then saw Cerulean and Haru in T-shirts that perfectly complemented each other, with Cerulean's being the black velour octoking tee and Haru's being the green version. "PERFECT!"

"Hey, we're matching." commented Haru. "Yeah…" replied Cerulean, almost sounding like a sigh. He looked at the octoling and felt a warm feeling in him, which crept onto his cheeks. "He's so pretty…" thought the inkling.

Ember jumped out of the fitting room with a pink hoodie on, and scared Cerulean from behind. "That wasn't very hetero of you dude." she smirked. "Cod, Marie really hired a bitch didn't she?!" he shot back. "Seems so!" shrugged Ember, still smirking. "HEY HARU! DO YOU LIKE BOYS?!" she shouted. "SHUT UP!" yelled Cerulean.

Haru smiled. "Yeah, I'm actually gay." he said, making Cerulean blush harder and Ember smirk wider. "W-Why are you s-smiling like that?" stammered the octoling. "Now that we don't look ugly, let's head to Squidonald's!" smiled Ember as if her smirk didn't scare the shit out of Haru.

"I'll go order!" announced the inkling girl as she pranced into the lineup. "She's so cool." said Haru. "She's annoying as fuck." groaned Cerulean. "I wonder how she knew I was gay though…" pondered the octoling.

"She asked because-" Cerulean quickly stopped and decided to not say it.

"Because what?" asked Haru.

Cerulean blushed, wondering how he could get himself out of this. "Hello?" called out Haru as he waved his hands in front of the inkling's face. "...Ember just assumed something, I guess." replied Cerulean.

"He's so different compared to last time…" thought Haru, remembering their brief encounter and battle during Cerulean's quest in Octo Valley.

Flashback…

KABOOM! Haru didn't notice the bomb the inkling dropped at their feet. "You octolings never pay attention!" he smirked, mocking Haru's earlier remark and feeling proud. Cerulean walked up to the zapfish and confidently snatched it off of the stand.

Present day…

"Cerulean…" mumbled Haru, but he couldn't finish what he wanted to say since Ember came back. "DINNER IS SERVED BOYS!" she shouted, proudly placing the tray on the table. "So, how was the metro or whatever?" she asked. "We'd rather not talk about it…" laughed Haru, sheepishly. "Changing the subject, I'm looking for a place to stay."

"OH! I KNOW!" exclaimed Ember. "You can stay with me!"

Cerulean nearly growled. "Haru would NEVER stay with you!"

"Ooh, is someone jealous?" smirked Ember.

"No!" barked the inkling boy.

"I gotta make space for him anyway, so he can totally stay with you for a while." she winked. "Sound good Haru?"

The octoling nodded. "YES!" cheered Ember. "Good luck Haru." sighed Cerulean. "Damn bitch, we barely met and you're so mean!" pouted Ember. "You keep asking me about Haru and I's relationship, it's weird." he muttered. The octoling blushed. "Ceru and I? I mean, he's really handsome and strong, and…"

"They're both blushing, the gayness is so real." Ember said internally, smirking externally.

After the chaotic mall trip, Ember walked her new friends home and waved as she ran back to wherever Marie was.

"It's really nice." said Haru. "Not as nice as you." muttered Cerulean.

"W-What?"

"I mean it's not as nice as you THINK!"

Haru just smiled, he knew that Cerulean meant what he said the first time. "You're nice too." he said. Cerulean blushed. "Anyways, be careful because my older brother will be home soon." he mumbled, hiding his embarrassment.

"Did my compliment fluster you?" laughed Haru. "Hey!" barked Cerulean. "You shouldn't be annoying like Ember!" he groaned. "My bad, I got a little carried away!" replied Haru. "He's so perfect." thought Cerulean. "I'll make us something." he said out loud as he went into the kitchen.

Haru looked around the house. It wasn't the biggest place ever, and he saw many photos of Cerulean from his childhood. One photo was of him, an older green inkling boy, and an older orange inkling girl with their parents. Cerulean was no older than five years old in the photo. There were also pictures he took with Callie and Marie in Octo Valley. The octoling couldn't help but smile.

"CERU DON'T TURN THE STOVE ON LIKE THAT!" shouted Haru as soon as he looked over at the inkling. The octoling rushed over to help him. "C-Ceru?" stuttered Cerulean, blushing. Haru was too busy insisting on making dinner to answer. "F-Fine, you can cook." muttered Cerulean.

A while later, while Cerulean was waiting on the couch for the food, a taller inkling with orange tentacles walked in. He looked just like the green inkling boy in the old picture, but orange and older. "Hey lil' man!" he greeted. "Sup' Ash?" replied Cerulean as the two fistbumped. "A friend's making dinner." said the blue inkling.

"What's their name?" asked Ash. "Haru." replied Cerulean. "I see. Well, it better be good!" shrugged the older inkling as he kicked Cerulean off of the couch to rest. "Gee." sighed the younger brother.

"It's ready!" called Haru, who came into the room and took Cerulean's hand. Ash curiously watched before he followed behind them. "H-He held my hand…" thought Cerulean. "Are you alright?" asked Haru. "You aren't eating, is everything okay?"

"You're Cerulean's brother, right?" asked Haru as Ash came into the kitchen. "Yeah." he said. "Cerulean looks a bit sick." said Haru. Ash instantly knew that his brother was just madly in love though, the blushing and sweating gave it away. "Haru, the rule is no boys until 18." he muttered, confusing the octoling. "Actually, I'm just living here until our friend finishes setting up a spot for me at her place." replied Haru.

"Any funny business and you're dead." grumbled Ash as he finished eating and went upstairs. "F-Funny business?" squeaked Cerulean. "Your brother's really protective of you." said Haru. "Reminds me of Akari…" he added, growing quieter. "I'll find her and save her, even if I die." said Cerulean. After a moment of more silence, Haru smiled again and hugged the inkling. "You're very sweet."

"She really cared about you, and she was a pleasure to work with in the short time we had together." said the inkling. Haru began to hug him tighter. "Wait! H-Hey! This is unnecessary!" shouted Cerulean, hiding how comfortable he actually felt. "I think I'm starting to get it…" mumbled Haru, feeling like a lightbulb lit up over his head. "Get what?" asked Cerulean, curiously. "Nothing." answered Haru, his soft smile growing a bit wider.

Later, the two were cleaning the dishes together. "Where are you gonna sleep tonight?" wondered Cerulean. Haru wasn't sure either, as Ash was fast asleep on the couch and if Cerulean wanted to live he couldn't let Haru borrow his older brother's room. The inkling was lost in thought trying to figure things out, his train being stopped by the touch of a hand.

"H-Haru?" he asked shakily. "I noticed you're having trouble washing that stain out." smiled the octoling, as he guided Cerulean's hands to clean the plate. The inkling was too flustered to say anything, so he gave Haru a weak thumbs-up to say thank you.

The octoling desperately wanted to kiss him. His family would often platonically kiss him, he hoped he could maybe kiss Cerulean and get away with it using that reason. He held Cerulean's cheek and gently placed a kiss on it.

"THAT WAS UNCALLED FOR, DOES HE LIKE ME? WAS I TOO OBVIOUS ABOUT LIKING HIM?" panicked the inkling internally. "You're welcome" said Haru, sheepishly. "Did I really just kiss him?" the octoling asked himself, still processing the moment himself. "W-We should just get ready for bed!" blurted out Cerulean.

After the two finished getting ready, Cerulean came to a realization.

"Haru." he mumbled.

"Yes?"

"If Ash is on the couch, the floor is too dirty and we aren't allowed in his room…"

"What about it?" asked a confused Haru.

"No, it's too stupid!" The inkling was only confusing the octoling even more. "You'll…"

"I'll what?" asked the octoling.

"...Have to sleep in my bed." muttered Cerulean, embarrassed. "There, I said it."

Silence filled the room for a moment. "I don't have an issue with that." said Haru. To avoid being obvious about his feelings, Cerulean decided to not sigh in relief. Besides, the idea of them sleeping together was completely occupying his brain, he was about to share a bed with the most handsome boy he's ever met.

Later that night, Haru was still awake while Cerulean was fast asleep. In his sleep, the inkling clinged onto him. The octoling happily pulled him in a little closer. He had a lot on his mind.

"I finally get it, Ceru. You're in love with me."
