Eddie and Rachel play UNO

...

There they were, sat at the table together, the pack of UNO cards in front of them. This was a game Rachel had played often at University with her flat mates. It had the potential to ruin friendships and cause arguments, but could provide hours of fun too.

Eddie had played UNO before, during his teacher training days too. He had to admit, he wasn't a huge fan of the game. It was fun, but it was too competitive for him. Rachel just thought he was a sore loser, so she was making him play.

"It'll be fun, trust me!" She promised as she dealt the cards

"Anything I do with you is fun" he replied, grinning cheekily

She smacked him playfully, blushing furiously.

"Right, do you remember the rules?" She asked once she'd dealt the cards

"Yes, do you?" He challenged

"Of course I do! This is one of my favourite card games, remember?" She giggled

"Of course it is. A competitive game for a competitive person. And you can cheat" he smiled

Rachel rolled her eyes

"How many times do I have to tell you my foot was behind that bloody line at the Bowling Alley?!" She exclaimed, referring back to their first date

"As much as you like, but you won't convince me!" He shot back

Rachel giggled softly.

He really wasn't going to let that go, was he?

"Alright, let's play" she decided, picking up her cards

Eddie grabbed his, looking at them carefully. There were no 'pick up four' cards for him yet.

They played the way they usually would, laying down their cards onto the table, picking one up from the pile when they didn't have a card to play. Rachel was determined to beat him again, and Eddie was just as determined to make her lose.

He was down to his last card, causing him to triumphantly call out 'UNO!'. Rachel glared at him playfully. Eddie didn't know it, but Rachel had four cards left to absolutely thrash Eddie with.

It was her turn. She put down the colour wheel card on the table.

"Change the colour to green"

Eddie groaned, picking a card up from the pile.

It was Rachel's turn again.

She put down a green 'reverse' card, meaning that, according to the rules, it was her turn again. She took a deep breath, laying down a simple green card with the number 6 on. She was saving the best card till last.

Eddie smiled smugly. He had every chance of winning right now. He put down his next card, another green with the number 9 on it.

"UNO" he declared, flashing his last card

Rachel shrugged, putting down her last card.

"Pick up four, Lawson. UNO!" She cried excitedly

Eddie's jaw dropped. How had she beat him again?

She smiled at him cheekily as he continued to gawp at her. No way was this fair!

Rachel couldn't stop laughing at Eddie's reaction. He was speechless! He was definitely a bad loser!

"You forget, Lawson, I've played UNO for a lot longer than you! I know how to win! It's all about strategy!" She giggled

"You're evil, Miss Mason" he hissed

She smiled cheekily

"You love me though, don't you?" She pointed out

He nodded, wrapping his arms around her waist, placing gentle, butterfly kisses on her neck. Of course he loved her. She was his everything.

"Yes I do. But I think, for the sake of our relationship we shouldn't play UNO in future" he chuckled, making her giggle too
