So we have another RWBY story, this time a crossover. Don't worry, this isn't going to replace my Sharingan story. I just kept bouncing ideas about this crossover that I had to write it, just to see what people think of this idea. Kind of testing the waters a bit. It's mostly a prologue with the ending of Melody of Memory, but re-edited. Next chapter is where the story actually begins.
In the Final World, ripples form on the water and sparkles appear in the air as Kairi, Riku, and the Fairy Godmother appear. Riku looks around in awe.
"This place…" Kairi said.
"You know it?" Riku asked.
"Yeah... I came here with Sora, and also in my dreams while I slept. This is… the Final World." Kairi explained, before shaking her head. "But there's no one here."
She was surprised as the Fairy Godmother taps lightly on her shoulder.
"That's not true. Why don't you look closer?"
Riku and Kairi stare deeper into the horizon in front of them until dozens of shimmering stars appear in their vision.
"The stars. I never noticed." She stated
"Yes, strong hearts gather here after death until they are ready to move on. I'm sure she's around here somewhere." Fairy Godmother explained.
"She?" Riku repeated, confused.
Fairy Godmother said as she winked at him and walked forward.
Riku and Kairi looked at each other, still confused. Soon, they approach a glittering star on its own.
"We found you! We've been searching all over for you, my dear." Fairy Godmother said.
The star backs away slightly. "Do I know you?" She spoke.
Kairi and Riku approached the star. "I'm Kairi. It's a pleasure to meet you." She introduced herself.
"You're all able to retain your appearance in this world. I met someone else who could do that." The star stated.
"Um, so she's the final key?" Riku said, still confused over the whole thing.
"That's right, dear. Now we finally have all three." Fairy Godmother smiled.
"But how exactly can she help?" Riku said, not sure how a star can help.
"It's simple. She came from the world on the other side." Fairy Godmother said, shocking them both.
"What?" Kairi said.
"You see, she's very special. Her form was taken from her, but she managed to find her way here. If she goes back to her world, her heart will certainly be stolen. Right, dear?" She asked the star.
"Oh...yes. It seems you know a lot about me." The star said, surprised.
The Fairy Godmother chuckles "A little, and I would use my magic to change you back if I could. But I'm afraid that's impossible while you're in this form. Don't
fret, though. I believe that we'll find a way to make your dream come true very soon."
"My dream...come true?" The star repeated.
"I want to help make that happen. Will it lead us to Sora?" Riku asked.
Fairy Godmother shook her head. "Oh, I'm afraid it's not that simple. First, we must get to her world. She can open a path for us, and you can use the power of waking to go there."
"The power of waking…" Riku said. The whole reason they are in this mess to begin with.
"Sorry, but did I hear you say Sora?"
Riku and Kairi looked at the star, before the latter gasped. "Wait. Do you know him?"
"Yes. He was here. He encouraged me not to give up. He's a nice kid. Reminds me of someone. Did something happen to him?" The star asked, worried.
Riku nodded. "Yeah. Sora disappeared. He's a good friend of ours, so we've been looking for him." He explained as Kairi nods. "Right now, we think he's in a world with different locations. A castle, a city on a mountain, a floating city and a desert. Do any of them ring any bells?
"Those locations…" Star muttered, surprised. "Those four locations you described are part of the four major kingdoms where I'm from, called Remnant."
Riku widened his eyes as Kairi gasped. "Remnant…" He muttered before looking at Fairy Godmother. "Is that where Sora is!?"
"There's no way of knowing, but I believe it is possible." She answered, smiling.
"All right…" Riku said as he turns to the star "Think you can help us?"
"I'm not sure exactly what's happening. But if Sora is in trouble, I want to help. Please, let me know what you need from me." She said.
Riku smiled. "Thanks." He said.
Riku summons his Keyblade and aims it toward the star. "Wait! What are you-"
The tip of his weapon glows and the star shines a bright pink as a portal emerges between them.
"Warn a girl next time, will you!?" The star shouted. "If I had a heart, pretty sure it would have stopped!"
"Uh, sorry." Riku said, embarrassed.
"Count yourself lucky I don't have my axe with me…" The star grumbled.
Fairy Godmother and Kairi giggled at the interaction. "I'm afraid this is as much as I can do. It's up to you, Riku, to take care of the rest." She said.
Riku nods and steps forward.
"I want to go." Kairi suddenly said
Riku turned to her. "Kairi, that's not—"
Kairi sighed. "Yeah, I know. I want to go with you. But… I know that I can't. I need to finish training. I need to become stronger. Last time I thought I was ready, and now we're in this mess because of it."
Riku walked towards her and placed his hand on her shoulder. "None of us blame you for it. You know how Sora is. He would have done the same for any of us." He said, before grinning. "Although there might be another reason he did it. Same reason you want to come, perhaps?"
Kairi blushed. "T-That's not true! H-He is just my best friend! Like you!"
He raised an eyebrow. "Pretty sure you didn't share the paopu fruit with me, Kairi."
Kairi flinched, her face getting redder. "It's not like that!" She shouted.
"Ah, young love…"The star and Fairy Godmother said in unison, making Kairi groan into her hands.
"Moving on... I want you to have this." She said, reaching into her pocket and handing Riku a shell with a face on it.
"This is…!" Riku said, recognizing it immediately.
"Yeah, part of the lucky charm. Before the final battle, I split it, giving Sora the other four pieces. We promised one another to survive and reconnect the pieces." Kairi explained.
"Ah yes, something friends clearly do…" Riku teased again. Kairi narrowed her eyes and summoned her Keyblade, her intentions clear. "Okay, I'll stop now."
"I like her." The star said.
"Anyways, Sora should have the pieces with him, so when you find him, reconnect the pieces. In a way, I'll be with you on your journey." Kairi said.
"You got it." Riku said, pocketing the piece.
"Meanwhile, I'll go explain everything to Donald and Goofy and to Mickey and Master Yen Sid." Kairi explained. "Maybe even train with Master Aqua."
They nod to each other as the Fairy Godmother approaches. "Be careful out there, dear. And try not to do anything too reckless. Come straight back if you encounter any trouble."
"I will." He said.
"Your name is Riku, right?"
Riku turned to the star. "Yeah, what is it?" He asked.
"Back in my… world, I have two daughters. I know you have your mission, but if you run into them, can you promise me to keep them safe?"
"Sure…" Riku said, before he blinked. "I just realized we never got your name."
The star giggled. "It's Summer. Summer Rose." She said.
Riku stands firm, facing the portal. He aims his Keyblade at it, which glows in resonance. The clouds above gather as the portal bursts into a brilliant light. The wind around them picks up as Riku is enveloped in a beam of light that shoots into the sky.
So essentially, rather than dreaming of Quadratum, Riku dreams of Remnant.
At first, I wanted the story to be about Sora, but then I realized it's been used a lot, so I decided to add Riku instead. Not to mention, I want to add romance and I don't want to mess with Sora and Kairi's relationship. So I'm curious, which girl do you think Riku should date? And if you had to choose a character from RWBY to wield the Keyblade, who would you choose?
