This is a duet I've taken from a random video on Youtube Shorts. The original video is somewhere on Tiktok. I never use that app.
Sitting together in the courtyard at Akademi, as Taro felt Ayano rest her head on his shoulder, he couldn't help but start thinking about the future.
What is waiting for the both of them after graduation? If he does decide what to go to university for, what will be waiting for him there? How busy will he be? So many questions run through his mind.
He then began to speak. More in a singing tone than a talking one.
"Can't the future just wait?"
Ayano opens her eyes. She knows what to say to him in this scenario. It's one of a multitude that she's come up with. "Senpai, it won't work that way." She sang.
Taro continues singing. "Can't the deadlines come fashionably late?"
"Well you can't push every goal back. Can't control that. You can't roll back the rate."
Taro wouldn't let Ayano interrupt. "Push every goal back. Take control back. If they'd roll back the rate."
The two locked eyes for a second before Taro continued. "At which time starts to fly." "Oh stop, you."
Now Ayano is the only one singing. "Time doesn't fly. It rather waves like an ocean. Never landing or standing. It's always in motion. It consumes you. It consumes me. It drowns. What a notion. That you or I could ever find out why…"
They then sing in unison.
"We nickel and dime every 'Quarter to Two…'"
"We nickel and dime every 'Quarter to Two…'"
"But maybe it's time to let time pass through…"
"But time's not a lie. I can tell that's true…"
The two of them burst out laughing. No matter what happens, at least they'll still have each other.
